promise_n of_o the_o present_a reward_n in_o these_o spiritual_a privilege_n and_o how_o shall_v we_o be_v think_v to_o believe_v they_o when_o we_o do_v not_o endeavour_v after_o a_o experience_n of_o the_o thing_n themselves_o in_o our_o own_o soul_n but_o be_v even_o content_v without_o they_o but_o herein_o man_n deceive_v themselves_o they_o will_v very_o desirous_o have_v evangelical_a right_o state_v as_o before_o lay_v down_o the_o glory_n of_o his_o person_n his_o office_n his_o condescension_n exaltation_n love_n and_o grace_n let_v faith_n be_v fix_v in_o a_o view_n and_o contemplation_n of_o it_o mix_v itself_o with_o it_o as_o represent_v in_o the_o glass_n of_o the_o gospel_n meditate_v upon_o it_o embrace_v it_o and_o virtue_n will_v proceed_v from_o christ_n communicate_v spiritual_a supernatural_a refreshment_n and_o joy_n unto_o our_o soul_n yea_o in_o ordinary_a case_n it_o be_v impossible_a that_o believer_n shall_v have_v a_o real_a prospect_n of_o this_o glory_n at_o any_o time_n but_o that_o it_o will_v in_o some_o measure_n affect_v their_o heart_n with_o a_o sense_n of_o his_o love_n which_o be_v the_o spring_n of_o all_o consolation_n in_o they_o in_o the_o exercise_n of_o faith_n on_o the_o discovery_n of_o the_o glory_n of_o christ_n make_v unto_o we_o in_o the_o gospel_n no_o man_n shall_v ever_o total_o want_v such_o intimation_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n as_o the_o comforter_n of_o the_o church_n and_o hereby_o all_o real_a intercourse_n between_o the_o person_n of_o christ_n and_o the_o soul_n of_o they_o that_o do_v believe_v be_v utter_o overthrow_v reduce_v all_o religion_n to_o a_o outward_a show_n and_o a_o pageantry_n fit_a for_o a_o stage_n than_o that_o temple_n of_o god_n which_o be_v in_o the_o mind_n of_o man_n according_a unto_o the_o sentiment_n of_o these_o profane_a scoffer_n there_o be_v no_o such_o thing_n as_o the_o shed_n abroad_o of_o the_o love_n of_o god_n in_o our_o heart_n by_o the_o holy_a ghost_n nor_o as_o the_o witness_v of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n with_o our_o spirit_n that_o we_o be_v the_o child_n of_o god_n from_o which_o these_o spiritual_a joy_n and_o refreshment_n be_v inseparable_a as_o their_o necessary_a effect_n no_o such_o thing_n as_o the_o lift_n up_o of_o the_o light_n of_o god_n countenance_n upon_o we_o which_o will_v put_v gladness_n into_o our_o heart_n that_o gladness_n which_o comprise_v all_o the_o thing_n mention_v no_o such_o thing_n as_o rejoice_v upon_o believe_v with_o joy_n unspeakable_a and_o full_a of_o glory_n no_o such_o thing_n as_o christ_n show_v and_o manifest_v himself_o unto_o we_o sup_v with_o we_o and_o give_v we_o of_o his_o love_n that_o the_o divine_a promise_n of_o a_o feast_n of_o fat_a thing_n and_o wine_n well_o refine_v in_o gospel-mercy_n be_v empty_a and_o insignificant_a word_n that_o all_o those_o ravish_a joy_n and_o exultation_n of_o spirit_n that_o multitude_n of_o faithful_a martyr_n of_o old_a and_o in_o late_a age_n have_v enjoy_v by_o a_o view_n of_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n in_o christ_n and_o a_o sense_n of_o his_o love_n whereunto_o they_o give_v testimony_n unto_o their_o last_o can_v make_v a_o shift_n to_o live_v on_o hope_n of_o heaven_n and_o future_a glory_n as_o unto_o what_o be_v present_a they_o desire_v no_o more_o but_o to_o be_v find_v in_o the_o performance_n of_o some_o duty_n in_o answer_n unto_o their_o conviction_n which_o give_v they_o that_o sorry_a peace_n which_o they_o do_v enjoy_v so_o do_v many_o countenance_n themselves_o in_o their_o spiritual_a sloth_n and_o unbelief_n keep_v themselves_o at_o liberty_n to_o seek_v for_o refreshment_n and_o satisfaction_n in_o other_o thing_n whilst_o those_o of_o the_o gospel_n be_v despise_v and_o these_o thing_n be_v inconsistent_a while_o man_n look_v for_o their_o chief_a refreshment_n and_o satisfaction_n in_o temporal_a thing_n it_o be_v impossible_a they_o shall_v seek_v after_o those_o that_o be_v spiritual_a in_o a_o due_a manner_n and_o it_o must_v be_v confess_v that_o when_o we_o have_v a_o due_a regard_n unto_o spiritual_a evangelical_a consolation_n and_o joy_n it_o will_v abate_v and_o take_v off_o our_o affection_n unto_o and_o satisfaction_n in_o present_a enjoyment_n phil._n 3_o 8_o 9_o but_o there_o be_v no_o more_o sacred_a truth_n than_o this_o that_o where_o christ_n be_v present_a with_o believer_n where_o he_o be_v not_o withdraw_v for_o a_o season_n from_o they_o where_o they_o live_v in_o the_o view_n of_o his_o glory_n by_o faith_n as_o it_o be_v propose_v unto_o they_o in_o the_o gospel_n he_o will_v give_v unto_o they_o at_o his_o own_o season_n such_o intimation_n of_o his_o love_n such_o supply_n of_o his_o spirit_n such_o holy_a joy_n and_o rejoice_n such_o repose_n of_o soul_n in_o assurance_n as_o shall_v refresh_v their_o soul_n fill_v they_o with_o joy_n satisfy_v they_o with_o spiritual_a delight_n and_o quicken_v they_o unto_o
