people_n have_v no_o understanding_n they_o be_v a_o sottish_a people_n wise_a to_o do_v evil_a but_o to_o do_v good_a they_o have_v no_o understanding_n many_o man_n be_v ignorant_a man_n yet_o not_o know_v those_o necessary_a and_o fundamental_a point_n in_o the_o word_n that_o must_v be_v know_v if_o ever_o you_o be_v save_v as_o about_o jesus_n christ_n and_o salvation_n and_o justification_n by_o his_o blood_n and_o faith_n in_o his_o naâ—e_n etc._n etc._n though_o you_o may_v be_v ignorant_a about_o circumstantial_o yet_o if_o it_o be_v not_o in_o fundamental_o your_o ignorance_n may_v call_v upon_o god_n and_o so_o evidence_n my_o effectual_a call_n and_o then_o happy_o the_o second_o may_v not_o be_v want_v in_o i_o that_o i_o do_v not_o lie_v under_o the_o state_n of_o a_o wilful_a sottish_a &_o fundamental_a ignorance_n but_o alas_o say_v he_o i_o want_v a_o three_o concomitant_a that_o accompany_v effectual_o call_v and_o that_o be_v i_o find_v in_o the_o word_n that_o they_o that_o be_v effectual_o call_v they_o be_v bring_v into_o a_o obediential_a frame_n of_o heart_n to_o all_o the_o way_n of_o god_n that_o what_o ever_o god_n command_v they_o to_o do_v their_o heart_n can_v ready_o obey_v and_o this_o i_o find_v rom._n 1.5.6_o god_n have_v call_v they_o by_o his_o grace_n unto_o the_o obedience_n of_o faith_n now_o alas_o say_v a_o poor_a soul_n i_o be_v a_o fruit_n only_o of_o common_a providence_n god_n by_o a_o overrule_a providence_n send_v the_o gospel_n among_o a_o people_n and_o thereby_o call_v they_o to_o a_o outward_a compliance_n and_o conformity_n but_o effectual_a call_v be_v a_o fruit_n of_o god_n election_n 2._o it_o be_v say_v in_o the_o description_n that_o effectual_a call_v it_o change_v the_o heart_n whereby_o god_n work_v a_o wonderful_a change_n in_o the_o heart_n but_o a_o external_a call_v no_o way_n reach_v the_o heart_n only_o work_v some_o kind_n of_o civil_a or_o common_a alteration_n in_o the_o life_n 3._o it_o be_v say_v effectual_a call_v be_v wrought_v by_o the_o inward_a operation_n of_o the_o spirit_n accompany_v the_o outward_a ministry_n of_o the_o word_n whereas_o a_o external_n call_v be_v only_o by_o the_o word_n but_o no_o inward_a save_a work_n of_o the_o spirit_n at_o all_o 4._o it_o be_v say_v of_o effectual_a call_v that_o it_o be_v from_o the_o dominion_n of_o sin_n but_o external_n call_v be_v only_o from_o the_o external_a act_n of_o sin_n indeed_o by_o a_o external_a call_v the_o word_n may_v have_v that_o power_n over_o a_o man_n as_o to_o restrain_v and_o keep_v in_o the_o visâ—ble_a and_o external_a act_n of_o sin_n but_o it_o no_o way_n work_v upon_o the_o inclination_n to_o take_v off_o the_o affection_n from_o sin_n whereas_o the_o effectual_a call_v work_n upon_o the_o heart_n and_o work_n to_o the_o subdue_a and_o destroy_v of_o the_o power_n of_o sin_n as_o well_o as_o the_o act_n of_o it_o second_o why_o do_v god_n require_v that_o we_o shall_v put_v forth_o such_o great_a diligence_n in_o make_v sure_a that_o we_o be_v effectual_o call_v by_o the_o spirit_n of_o jesus_n christ_n in_o the_o gospel_n there_o be_v three_o reason_n why_o this_o shall_v be_v 1._o first_o because_o there_o be_v many_o profess_v the_o gospel_n that_o do_v harbour_v ungrounded_a persuasion_n that_o they_o be_v effectual_o call_v when_o they_o be_v not_o now_o if_o any_o man_n be_v deceive_v why_o may_v not_o you_o and_o if_o any_o be_v apt_a to_o be_v deceive_v about_o this_o matter_n have_v not_o you_o great_a cause_n to_o be_v diligent_a lest_o you_o be_v deceive_v also_o the_o jew_n of_o old_a they_o boast_v of_o their_o call_v and_o say_v we_o have_v abraham_n to_o our_o father_n but_o christ_n confut_v that_o if_o you_o be_v abraham_n child_n say_v he_o you_o will_v do_v the_o work_n of_o abraham_n but_o you_o seek_v to_o kill_v i_o which_o abraham_n do_v not_o but_o then_o they_o go_v high_o john_n 8.46_o they_o be_v effectual_o call_v for_o god_n be_v our_o father_n no_o say_v christ_n you_o be_v of_o your_o father_n the_o devil_n thus_o many_o man_n run_v into_o these_o gross_a mistake_n to_o believe_v they_o be_v effectual_o great_a and_o precious_a jewel_n of_o effectual_a call_v that_o so_o much_o concern_v your_o immortal_a soul_n when_o you_o buy_v land_n you_o will_v be_v sure_a your_o title_n be_v good_a to_o draw_v up_o your_o evidence_n so_o as_o to_o be_v firm_a in_o law_n you_o know_v merchant_n if_o they_o venture_v a_o great_a or_o most_o part_n of_o their_o estate_n at_o sea_n where_o happy_o there_o may_v
