beforehand_o and_o use_v the_o consideration_n of_o the_o weakness_n of_o the_o flesh_n as_o a_o argument_n to_o persuade_v they_o to_o watch_n and_o to_o pray_v and_o not_o to_o trust_v mere_o to_o a_o willing_a mind_n or_o a_o sincere_a disposition_n he_o produce_v this_o argument_n i_o say_v to_o make_v they_o abate_v of_o their_o confidence_n and_o use_v more_o diligence_n that_o they_o may_v word_n the_o spirit_n indeed_o be_v willing_a but_o the_o flesh_n be_v weak_a be_v not_o intend_v here_o for_o a_o excuse_n of_o their_o not_o watch_v and_o pray_v but_o as_o a_o reason_n why_o they_o have_v that_o willing_a spirit_n which_o our_o saviour_n acknowledge_v and_o commend_v in_o his_o apostle_n 2._o that_o we_o do_v not_o altogether_o trust_v to_o our_o present_a sincerity_n and_o best_a purpose_n but_o because_o of_o the_o weakness_n of_o the_o flesh_n that_o we_o watch_v and_o pray_v and_o thereby_o guard_v ourselves_o against_o all_o temptation_n 1._o that_o we_o be_v very_o well_o assure_v of_o our_o own_o sincerity_n and_o the_o honesty_n of_o our_o purpose_n which_o for_o the_o present_a any_o man_n may_v be_v easy_o assure_v of_o if_o he_o be_v sincere_a that_o be_v they_o why_o he_o continual_o instruct_v they_o why_o he_o explain_v thing_n to_o they_o why_o he_o take_v care_n to_o rectify_v their_o mistake_n and_o to_o correct_v their_o fault_n and_o to_o give_v they_o all_o the_o way_n of_o improvement_n because_o they_o be_v honest_a man_n and_o ever_o intend_v to_o behave_v themselves_o like_o honest_a man_n they_o be_v all_o but_o judas_n man_n of_o great_a plainness_n and_o simplicity_n teachable_a and_o willing_a to_o be_v inform_v of_o the_o truth_n open_a and_o free_a in_o their_o behaviour_n not_o addict_v to_o any_o notorious_a vice_n of_o a_o religious_a temper_n and_o disposition_n and_o every_o way_n fit_a to_o be_v train_v up_o to_o the_o perfection_n of_o virtue_n in_o the_o school_n of_o christ_n and_o therefore_o our_o saviour_n take_v a_o particular_a care_n of_o they_o and_o bear_v with_o all_o their_o infirmity_n mistake_v and_o folly_n till_o he_o have_v bring_v they_o to_o perfection_n whereas_o judas_n who_o man_n of_o honest_a mind_n and_o sincere_a disposition_n these_o word_n allude_v to_o what_o be_v common_o see_v among_o we_o of_o a_o father_n commit_v a_o child_n of_o probity_n and_o a_o towardly_a disposition_n to_o a_o skilful_a master_n to_o be_v educate_v and_o improve_v by_o he_o and_o his_o expect_v a_o good_a account_n of_o he_o at_o last_o and_o therefore_o say_v our_o saviour_n john_n 17.12_o of_o those_o thou_o have_v give_v i_o or_o commit_v to_o my_o care_n i_o have_v lose_v none_o but_o the_o son_n of_o perdition_n i._n e._n judas_n have_v utter_o fall_v off_o and_o miscarry_v other_o of_o the_o apostle_n do_v but_o be_v also_o sincere_a and_o honest_a he_o be_v therefore_o more_o watch_v and_o particular_o instruct_v than_o the_o rest_n and_o i_o can_v but_o observe_v this_o by_o the_o way_n that_o the_o reason_n why_o our_o saviour_n address_v himself_o in_o particular_a to_o peter_n so_o much_o often_o than_o to_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o apostle_n be_v not_o encourage_v he_o he_o encourage_v all_o and_o though_o he_o allude_v to_o his_o name_n in_o particular_a by_o say_v thou_o be_v peter_n yet_o that_o which_o follow_v and_o upon_o this_o rock_n will_v i_o build_v my_o church_n and_o the_o gate_n of_o hell_n shall_v not_o prevail_v against_o it_o be_v equal_o a_o commendation_n and_o encouragement_n of_o the_o faith_n of_o the_o rest_n and_o of_o unwilling_a as_o peter_n that_o jesus_n shall_v die_v a_o ignominious_a death_n and_o as_o ignorant_a as_o he_o what_o wise_a and_o good_a end_n divine_a providence_n will_v bring_v about_o by_o it_o wherefore_o i_o mention_v peter_n rather_o than_o any_o one_o of_o the_o rest_n of_o the_o disciple_n as_o a_o instance_n how_o a_o good_a and_o honest_a heart_n a_o sincere_a mind_n or_o as_o it_o mislead_v where_o there_o be_v so_o much_o danger_n they_o be_v to_o attend_v to_o the_o doctrine_n which_o he_o deliver_v we_o at_o first_o by_o his_o holy_a apostle_n to_o secure_v themselves_o from_o be_v deceive_v they_o must_v lay_v to_o heart_n the_o promise_n of_o the_o gospel_n to_o arm_v themselves_o against_o the_o temptation_n of_o the_o world_n and_o the_o power_n of_o evil_a whether_o they_o will_v guard_v themselves_o against_o error_n and_o evil_a example_n and_o therefore_o a_o very_a corrupt_a state_n of_o thing_n in_o the_o christian_a world_n will_v in_o all_o likelihood_n shake_v the_o faith_n of_o many_o believer_n and_o cause_v some_o to_o turn_v from_o the_o holy_a commandment_n deliver_v to_o they_o not_o regard_v the_o admonition_n of_o christ_n and_o
