that_o they_o may_v admire_v christ_n that_o the_o thought_n and_o affection_n of_o man_n may_v be_v carry_v to_o he_o they_o must_v not_o preach_v themselves_o but_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n as_o the_o apostle_n do_v 2_o cor._n 4_o 5._o use_v 4_o be_v it_o so_o that_o apostle_n minister_n etc._n etc._n then_o let_v the_o church_n be_v here_o direct_v and_o advise_v to_o prove_v those_o that_o pretend_v they_o be_v the_o minister_n of_o jesus_n christ_n whether_o they_o be_v send_v by_o christ_n or_o no._n the_o church_n of_o ephesus_n be_v much_o commend_v for_o her_o care_n and_o when_o indeed_o he_o never_o send_v they_o they_o be_v messenger_n of_o satan_n and_o not_o of_o christ_n and_o therefore_o it_o concern_v the_o church_n to_o prove_v they_o well_o who_o come_v with_o these_o pretence_n and_o to_o sift_v they_o to_o the_o bottom_n that_o they_o may_v know_v not_o the_o speech_n of_o these_o man_n only_o but_o the_o power_n as_o the_o apostle_n speak_v 1_o cor._n 4_o 19_o and_o here_o you_o be_v not_o only_o to_o consider_v whether_o they_o have_v obtain_v the_o election_n and_o ordination_n of_o the_o church_n or_o no_o for_o many_o reach_n to_o this_o who_o be_v never_o send_v by_o christ_n but_o there_o be_v other_o thing_n to_o be_v observe_v i_o shall_v lay_v they_o down_o in_o order_n they_o that_o be_v send_v by_o jesus_n christ_n be_v furnish_v with_o competent_a ability_n at_o least_o for_o the_o delivery_n of_o their_o message_n you_o must_v not_o think_v that_o christ_n will_v send_v by_o the_o hand_n of_o a_o fool_n no_o if_o there_o so_o much_o upon_o your_o lust_n and_o so_o much_o upon_o the_o satisfaction_n of_o your_o malice_n and_o revenge_n so_o much_o upon_o hawk_n and_o hound_n and_o whore_n but_o nothing_o upon_o god_n his_o cause_n or_o his_o poor_a distress_a servant_n be_v these_o the_o bill_n that_o you_o bring_v in_o to_o god_n and_o will_v you_o own_v they_o in_o the_o latter_a day_n brethren_n by_o your_o laying_n out_o you_o may_v discover_v to_o what_o intent_n you_o have_v pray_v for_o outward_a blessing_n whether_o to_o consume_v they_o on_o your_o lust_n or_o no_o and_o if_o that_o have_v be_v your_o end_n the_o spirit_n have_v not_o be_v your_o principle_n in_o these_o petition_n if_o we_o act_v by_o christ_n spirit_n we_o keep_v a_o constant_a course_n in_o prayer_n we_o do_v not_o pray_v as_o fear_v and_o strong_a conviction_n and_o the_o like_a that_o may_v hold_v some_o certain_a man_n almost_o to_o a_o continue_a practice_n of_o the_o outward_a duty_n yet_o it_o be_v very_o rare_a that_o he_o be_v constant_a who_o act_v by_o his_o own_o spirit_n but_o now_o my_o brethren_n he_o that_o act_v by_o christ_n spirit_n be_v a_o steady_a man_n in_o prayer_n he_o can_v appeal_v to_o god_n as_o david_n do_v psal_n 40.9_o i_o have_v not_o restrain_v my_o lip_n oh_o lord_n thou_o know_v christ_n spirit_n dwell_v in_o he_o he_o do_v not_o sojourn_v in_o he_o for_o a_o time_n but_o he_o psal_n 31.22_o nevertheless_o thou_o hear_v the_o voice_n of_o my_o prayer_n even_o than_o i_o pray_v to_o thou_o when_o i_o be_v in_o that_o temper_n so_o in_o another_o place_n from_o the_o he_o be_v very_o persuade_v for_o the_o present_a that_o god_n will_v neither_o own_v he_o nor_o regard_v he_o nor_o look_v upon_o he_o as_o a_o son_n yet_o he_o love_v god_n still_o he_o have_v a_o child_n heart_n to_o god_n even_o when_o he_o think_v that_o god_n have_v not_o a_o father_n heart_n to_o he_o though_o he_o seem_v to_o frown_v upon_o he_o and_o to_o hide_v his_o face_n and_o to_o turn_v away_o his_o prayer_n yet_o he_o have_v dear_a affection_n to_o the_o lord_n notwithstanding_o all_o this_o and_o this_o appear_v by_o the_o trouble_n he_o be_v in_o at_o god_n displeasure_n it_o grieve_v he_o so_o that_o he_o be_v sick_a of_o love_n as_o the_o poor_a church_n be_v cant._n 2.5_o when_o christ_n withdraw_v himself_o a_o while_n this_o be_v her_o grief_n i_o seek_v he_o
