and_o none_o but_o he_o make_v this_o discovery_n there_o be_v two_o weighty_a reason_n for_o it_o for_o first_o none_o but_o he_o be_v able_a and_o next_o none_o but_o he_o be_v fit_a to_o make_v it_o 1._o first_o none_o but_o jesus_n christ_n be_v able_a to_o make_v this_o full_a discovery_n of_o his_o father_n for_o none_o but_o he_o be_v perfect_o acquaint_v with_o he_o alas_o all_o man_n be_v stranger_n to_o the_o father_n the_o worst_a man_n absolute_o and_o in_o all_o respect_n and_o the_o best_a in_o some_o measure_n and_o all_o the_o knowledge_n which_o any_o soul_n have_v of_o he_o it_o have_v from_o jesus_n christ_n too_o but_o now_o my_o brethren_n jesus_n christ_n have_v the_o full_a knowledge_n of_o his_o father_n he_o do_v not_o know_v he_o outward_o alone_a but_o he_o know_v his_o very_a heart_n and_o the_o secret_n of_o his_o bosom_n and_o therefore_o he_o be_v say_v to_o lodge_v there_o and_o so_o to_o be_v the_o only_a possible_a revealer_n of_o the_o father_n it_o possible_a for_o any_o one_o to_o make_v the_o father_n know_v unless_o he_o know_v he_o now_o this_o be_v proper_a and_o peculiar_a to_o the_o son_n no_o man_n know_v the_o father_n but_o the_o of_o god_n which_o christ_n be_v as_o a_o saviour_n to_o discover_v viz._n his_o attribute_n of_o love_n and_o mercy_n this_o be_v the_o proper_a work_n of_o christ_n indeed_o to_o manifest_v this_o name_n of_o god_n all_o that_o be_v sweet_a and_o lovely_a in_o he_o to_o his_o people_n this_o may_v suffice_v to_o let_v you_o know_v why_o jesus_n christ_n and_o none_o but_o he_o make_v this_o discovery_n of_o the_o father_n to_o his_o people_n we_o have_v but_o one_o thing_n yet_o behind_o why_o the_o discovery_n that_o he_o make_v be_v such_o a_o absolute_a and_o full_a discovery_n i_o knowledge_n of_o the_o son_n of_o god_n god_n be_v not_o mention_v there_o but_o the_o son_n of_o god_n only_o and_o the_o apostle_n paul_n teach_v the_o corinthian_n nothing_o else_o but_o christ_n and_o yet_o his_o aim_n be_v that_o they_o may_v be_v save_v i_o determine_v to_o know_v nothing_o among_o you_o say_v he_o 1_o cor._n 2.2_o that_o be_v i_o resolve_v so_o to_o manage_v and_o carry_v sanctifier_n or_o redeemer_n we_o know_v he_o but_o in_o such_o a_o way_n and_o very_o short_a of_o such_o a_o measure_n as_o adam_n do_v in_o the_o state_n of_o innocency_n and_o which_o way_n shall_v we_o come_v to_o life_n eternal_a by_o such_o a_o knowledge_n as_o this_o be_v if_o we_o look_v that_o god_n shall_v save_v we_o upon_o this_o account_n that_o he_o have_v make_v we_o we_o be_v upon_o a_o wrong_a ground_n indeed_o do_v we_o continue_v in_o the_o state_n in_o which_o he_o make_v we_o he_o will_v be_v sure_a to_o save_v we_o too_o can_v we_o serve_v he_o and_o obey_v he_o lose_v you_o know_v in_o the_o creation_n there_o we_o be_v dead_a and_o go_v and_o theretore_fw-la it_o be_v necessary_a now_o to_o know_v the_o lord_n under_o another_o notion_n if_o we_o mean_v salvation_n be_v overthrow_v and_o over-turned_n by_o the_o fall_n and_o if_o we_o mean_v to_o build_v it_o up_o again_o we_o must_v begin_v upon_o another_o ground_n a_o new_a foundation_n god_n be_v the_o only_a object_n of_o fundamental_a knowledge_n then_o christ_n be_v at_o the_o least_o the_o next_o and_o the_o mediate_a object_n of_o fundamental_a knowledge_n now_o you_o know_v my_o brethren_n that_o confession_n of_o the_o apostle_n peter_n mat._n 16.16_o thou_o be_v christ_n the_o son_n of_o god_n be_v make_v by_o jesus_n christ_n himself_o the_o rock_n on_o which_o the_o point_n in_o adam_n foundation_n the_o knowledge_n of_o christ_n be_v the_o chief_a point_n in_o our_o foundation_n christ_n be_v not_o there_o at_o all_o as_o mediator_n but_o here_o he_o be_v in_o the_o first_o and_o chief_a place_n there_o be_v other_o corner-stone_n that_o rest_v upon_o he_o but_o he_o and_o he_o alone_o be_v the_o chief_a cornerstone_n on_o which_o all_o the_o rest_n be_v set_v and_o who_o support_v all_o the_o building_n and_o therefore_o he_o that_o fail_v of_o know_v he_o must_v needs_o fail_v of_o life_n eternal_a second_o the_o knowledge_n of_o god_n be_v not_o know_v he_o on_o such_o term_n as_o these_o be_v christ_n be_v the_o only_a mediator_n between_v god_n and_o man_n he_o come_v down_o into_o the_o world_n to_o take_v up_o all_o the_o breach_n and_o the_o difference_n between_v his_o father_n and_o his_o people_n and_o to_o make_v peace_n by_o the_o blood_n of_o his_o cross_n and_o how_o shall_v christ_n make_v peace_n for_o we_o unless_o we_o know_v he_o unless_o we_o be_v acquaint_v with_o he_o unless_o we_o put_v our_o matter_n into_o his_o hand_n so_o that_o if_o we_o know_v christ_n we_o may_v know_v god_n as_o a_o friend_n in_o and_o by_o and_o through_o christ_n we_o may_v look_v upon_o he_o then_o as_o reconcile_v to_o we_o as_o pacify_v and_o appease_v towards_o we_o but_o if_o we_o know_v not_o christ_n at_o all_o we_o can_v know_v god_n otherwise_o then_o as_o a_o enemy_n and_o as_o a_o judge_n and_o a_o avenger_n and_o whether_o such_o a_o knowledge_n of_o he_o can_v be_v life_n eternal_a judge_v you_o three_o knowledge_n of_o god_n be_v not_o enough_o to_o life_n eternal_a unless_o reason_n 3_o we_o know_v christ_n too_o because_o unless_o we_o know_v christ_n and_o know_v he_o in_o and_o through_o christ_n we_o know_v he_o without_o interest_n we_o know_v he_o but_o as_o none_o of_o we_o we_o part_v with_o the_o lord_n in_o adam_n we_o lose_v he_o there_o and_o all_o the_o right_n
manhood_n too_o god_n have_v high_o exalt_v he_o say_v the_o apostle_n phil._n 2.9_o he_o who_o why_o jesus_n christ_n both_o god_n and_o man_n in_o his_o divine_a and_o humane_a nature_n as_o for_o it_o to_o be_v eclipse_v and_o overshadow_a with_o the_o similitude_n of_o sinful_a flesh_n and_o to_o be_v humble_v under_o the_o form_n of_o a_o servant_n even_o as_o the_o brightness_n of_o a_o candle_n be_v hide_v in_o a_o dark_a and_o close_a lantern_n so_o that_o declaratory_o he_o be_v in_o that_o respect_n exalt_v he_o be_v declare_v to_o be_v the_o son_n of_o god_n by_o power_n in_o rise_v from_o the_o dead_a and_o return_v to_o his_o glory_n as_o for_o the_o humane_a nature_n that_o be_v proper_o exalt_v for_o be_v join_v to_o the_o godhead_n it_o have_v a_o ample_a and_o immediate_a claim_n to_o all_o the_o glory_n which_o from_o the_o godhead_n may_v be_v communicate_v to_o it_o and_o confer_v upon_o it_o so_o that_o however_o while_o our_o saviour_n christ_n continue_v here_o the_o exigence_n of_o the_o condition_n and_o the_o office_n which_o he_o have_v assume_v and_o undertake_v make_v he_o a_o man_n of_o sorrow_n and_o of_o suffering_n and_o intercept_v as_o it_o be_v the_o beam_n of_o the_o divine_a glory_n from_o shine_v in_o the_o other_o nature_n so_o that_o there_o be_v no_o form_n nor_o beauty_n in_o he_o yet_o have_v finish_v that_o dispensation_n there_o be_v by_o virtue_n of_o the_o intimate_a association_n of_o the_o manhood_n with_o the_o godhead_n a_o give_v out_o or_o a_o communication_n of_o all_o the_o glory_n from_o the_o deity_n which_o the_o other_o nature_n be_v capable_a of_o and_o this_o be_v that_o which_o jesus_n christ_n desire_v of_o his_o father_n in_o my_o text_n and_o even_o as_o by_o the_o spirit_n of_o holiness_n he_o be_v fill_v with_o treasure_n of_o wisdom_n and_o knowledge_n and_o grace_n and_o thereby_o fit_v for_o the_o office_n of_o a_o mediator_n and_o make_v the_o head_n and_o ruler_n of_o the_o church_n so_o likewise_o by_o the_o spirit_n of_o glory_n he_o be_v fill_v with_o unmatchable_a perfection_n beyond_o the_o comprehension_n of_o all_o other_o creature_n be_v not_o only_o full_a of_o glory_n but_o have_v in_o he_o all_o the_o fullness_n of_o glory_n which_o a_o create_a nature_n join_v to_o a_o infinite_a and_o endless_a fountain_n can_v receive_v the_o godhead_n of_o our_o saviour_n be_v at_o the_o right_a hand_n of_o the_o father_n from_o eternity_n but_o now_o the_o manhood_n of_o our_o saviour_n be_v exalt_v to_o the_o same_o condition_n i_o say_v not_o to_o the_o same_o measure_n but_o to_o the_o same_o condition_n of_o majesty_n and_o glory_n with_o it_o god_n have_v raise_v he_o from_o the_o dead_a and_o that_o you_o know_v must_v be_v as_o he_o be_v man_n and_o set_v he_o at_o his_o own_o right_a hand_n in_o heavenly_a place_n eph._n 1.20_o that_o be_v he_o set_v he_o up_o above_o all_o other_o thing_n or_o person_n in_o the_o next_o place_n to_o himself_o and_o therefore_o it_o be_v add_v in_o the_o follow_a word_n far_o above_o all_o principality_n and_o power_n and_o may_v and_o dominion_n and_o every_o name_n that_o be_v name_v not_o only_o in_o this_o world_n but_o in_o that_o which_o be_v to_o come_v in_o which_o respect_n it_o be_v that_o god_n will_v have_v he_o worship_v with_o divine_a and_o religious_a adoration_n and_o that_o by_o the_o very_a angel_n heb._n 1.6_o of_o which_o the_o humane_a nature_n single_a be_v not_o capable_a but_o that_o it_o shine_v with_o the_o godhead_n in_o this_o high_a glory_n much_o may_v be_v add_v for_o the_o proof_n of_o this_o that_o even_o the_o manhood_n of_o our_o saviour_n participate_v of_o the_o glory_n whereof_o etc._n etc._n now_o to_o open_v it_o a_o little_a more_o particular_o and_o distinct_o to_o you_o belove_a you_o must_v know_v that_o the_o manhood_n of_o our_o saviour_n come_v not_o by_o nature_n to_o partake_v of_o this_o glory_n look_v upon_o the_o humane_a nature_n as_o consider_v in_o itself_o and_o so_o it_o have_v no_o right_a to_o it_o it_o be_v by_o grace_n then_o that_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o godhead_n be_v communicate_v to_o it_o and_o that_o by_o a_o double_a grace_n the_o grace_n of_o union_n and_o the_o grace_n of_o dispensation_n first_o the_o manhood_n of_o our_o saviour_n participate_v of_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o godhead_n by_o the_o grace_n of_o union_n it_o come_v to_o be_v partaker_n of_o it_o by_o its_o unutterable_o near_a and_o intimate_v association_n with_o the_o godhead_n in_o the_o same_o person_n for_o so_o the_o god_n head_n and_o the_o manhood_n as_o you_o know_v be_v join_v together_o in_o such_o a_o tie_n as_o can_v full_o be_v express_v not_o as_o a_o man_n and_o a_o wife_n be_v join_v together_o who_o notwithstanding_o their_o conjunction_n continue_v two_o distinct_a person_n but_o as_o the_o body_n and_o the_o soul_n make_v one_o man_n so_o god_n and_o man_n make_v one_o christ_n and_o as_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o soul_n by_o reason_n of_o the_o nearness_n of_o the_o union_n redound_v to_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o person_n and_o consequent_o of_o the_o body_n too_o even_o so_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o godhead_n redound_v to_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o manhood_n in_o the_o person_n of_o our_o saviour_n so_o infinite_o near_o be_v the_o conjunction_n that_o both_o the_o nature_n can_v choose_v but_o share_v together_o and_o as_o the_o godhead_n be_v in_o some_o respect_n abase_v in_o be_v join_v to_o the_o manhood_n be_v eclipse_v and_o shadow_v with_o the_o meanness_n and_o the_o imperfection_n of_o it_o even_o so_o the_o manhood_n on_o the_o other_o side_n be_v honour_v and_o advance_v in_o be_v join_v to_o the_o godhead_n and_o consequent_o shine_v with_o the_o glory_n of_o it_o second_o the_o manhood_n of_o our_o saviour_n participate_v of_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o godhead_n by_o the_o grace_n of_o dispensation_n from_o the_o father_n he_o have_v make_v it_o to_o partake_v of_o that_o glory_n and_o therefore_o he_o have_v raise_v it_o up_o and_o set_v it_o at_o his_o own_o right_a hand_n he_o have_v high_o exalt_v it_o he_o have_v crown_v it_o with_o glory_n and_o honour_n the_o father_n if_o you_o mark_v it_o have_v always_o have_v a_o mind_n to_o set_v up_o his_o son_n christ_n not_o so_o much_o as_o he_o be_v god_n for_o so_o indeed_o he_o do_v not_o need_v it_o but_o as_o man_n and_o mediator_n he_o have_v endeavour_v every_o way_n to_o raise_v he_o and_o advance_v he_o and_o make_v he_o glorious_a in_o the_o eye_n and_o deny_v the_o holy_a one_o though_o you_o abuse_v he_o and_o abase_v he_o yet_o god_n have_v glorify_v he_o it_o be_v by_o he_o and_o his_o mean_n that_o he_o be_v raise_v to_o such_o glory_n use_v 1_o now_o be_v it_o so_o that_o even_o the_o manhood_n of_o our_o saviour_n participate_v of_o the_o glory_n whereof_o the_o godhead_n have_v be_v etc._n etc._n here_o then_o we_o may_v take_v notice_n of_o the_o high_a advancement_n of_o our_o nature_n in_o the_o person_n of_o our_o saviour_n the_o very_a glory_n of_o the_o godhead_n be_v in_o a_o sense_n communicate_v to_o it_o our_o nature_n share_v with_o the_o godhead_n in_o such_o incomparable_a and_o transcendent_a glory_n as_o can_v by_o no_o mean_n be_v express_v it_o be_v many_o way_n advance_v and_o set_v up_o in_o jesus_n christ_n but_o this_o my_o brethren_n be_v the_o height_n and_o top_n of_o all_o that_o in_o he_o dwell_v the_o fullness_n of_o the_o godhead_n bodily_a as_o the_o apostle_n speak_v col._n 2.9_o not_o that_o the_o godhead_n be_v confine_v or_o circumscribe_v within_o the_o narrow_a limit_n of_o our_o saviour_n flesh_n or_o that_o his_o body_n be_v co-extended_n with_o the_o godhead_n opinion_n but_o you_o will_v interpose_v and_o ask_v i_o then_o what_o be_v not_o private_a christian_n to_o employ_v their_o gift_n for_o the_o common_a benefit_n yes_o to_o the_o very_a utmost_a except_o they_o be_v send_v say_v the_o apostle_n rom._n 11.15_o how_o shall_v they_o do_v it_o lawful_o he_o do_v not_o say_v except_o they_o be_v gift_v but_o except_o they_o be_v send_v own_o discretion_n and_o as_o it_o seem_v good_a to_o they_o but_o must_v proceed_v in_o every_o thing_n according_a to_o the_o order_n and_o instruction_n of_o their_o master_n or_o if_o they_o swerve_v a_o jot_n from_o these_o they_o stray_v beyond_o the_o bound_n of_o their_o commission_n and_o their_o authority_n be_v void_a so_o that_o the_o power_n of_o minister_n in_o this_o regard_n be_v ministerial_a and_o declarative_a yet_o this_o i_o add_v because_o they_o do_v it_o by_o commission_n from_o the_o lord_n and_z as_o messenger_n of_o christ_n it_o come_v from_o they_o by_o reason_n of_o his_o ordinance_n with_o more_o assurance_n to_o the_o conscience_n then_o from_o any_o private_a person_n use_v 3_o be_v it_o so_o that_o the_o apostle_n etc._n etc._n this_o than_o may_v serve_v to_o mind_v they_o what_o their_o duty_n be_v and_o i_o shall_v give_v it_o you_o in_o two_o word_n 1._o they_o must_v do_v his_o work_n and_o deliver_v his_o message_n the_o errand_n which_o he_o send_v they_o in_o they_o must_v not_o bring_v their_o own_o device_n to_o the_o people_n their_o own_o fancy_n and_o conceit_n the_o issue_n of_o their_o own_o brain_n the_o froth_n of_o their_o own_o spirit_n as_o many_o do_v in_o these_o time_n no_o they_o must_v speak_v the_o word_n of_o christ_n and_o speak_v they_o full_o and_o complete_o they_o must_v fulfil_v the_o word_n of_o god_n as_o the_o apostle_n speak_v col._n 1.25_o they_o must_v without_o respect_n or_o fear_n deliver_v all_o their_o master_n message_n to_o any_o man_n to_o who_o he_o send_v they_o how_o great_a soever_o he_o may_v be_v they_o must_v not_o out_o of_o base_a and_o servile_a dread_n of_o any_o suppress_v or_o mince_v their_o errand_n in_o the_o least_o degree_n or_o deal_v so_o mannerly_a with_o man_n that_o they_o become_v unfaithful_a to_o the_o lord_n christ_n no_o they_o must_v serious_o consider_v that_o though_o themselves_o be_v mean_a and_o despicable_a person_n yet_o they_o be_v minister_n and_o messenger_n of_o christ_n himself_o who_o be_v high_o than_o the_o high_a among_o man_n and_o therefore_o as_o the_o noble_a roman_a say_v non_fw-la ita_fw-la memor_fw-la sum_fw-la dignitatis_fw-la vestrae_fw-la ut_fw-la obliviscar_fw-la i_o esse_fw-la consulem_fw-la so_o they_o must_v say_v when_o they_o be_v deal_v with_o the_o great_a one_o of_o the_o world_n i_o be_o not_o mindful_a of_o dignity_n so_o far_o as_o to_o forget_v that_o i_o be_o the_o ambassador_n and_o messenger_n of_o jesus_n christ_n they_o must_v be_v bold_a and_o resolute_a with_o this_o assurance_n that_o he_o that_o send_v they_o will_v bear_v they_o out_o according_a to_o his_o many_o precious_a promise_n which_o he_o have_v make_v for_o their_o encouragement_n to_o faithfulness_n in_o his_o service_n 2._o and_o as_o they_o must_v deliver_v christ_n errand_n and_o not_o their_o own_o so_o for_o christ_n end_n and_o not_o their_o own_o they_o must_v not_o seek_v their_o own_o profit_n or_o their_o own_o honour_n but_o the_o honour_n of_o their_o master_n as_o christ_n who_o be_v the_o father_n messenger_n glorify_v not_o himself_o as_o the_o apostle_n speak_v but_o he_o that_o send_v he_o heb._n 5.5_o so_o they_o that_o be_v the_o messenger_n of_o christ_n must_v not_o glorify_v themselves_o but_o christ_n that_o send_v they_o they_o must_v act_v for_o he_o and_o a_o course_n in_o the_o work_n of_o the_o ministry_n that_o they_o may_v seem_v witty_a and_o learned_a and_o eloquent_a that_o man_n may_v admire_v they_o and_o applaud_v their_o ability_n but_o that_o they_o may_v admire_v christ_n that_o the_o thought_n and_o affection_n of_o man_n may_v be_v carry_v to_o he_o they_o must_v not_o preach_v themselves_o but_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n as_o the_o apostle_n do_v 2_o cor._n 4_o 5._o use_v 4_o be_v it_o so_o that_o apostle_n minister_n etc._n etc._n then_o let_v the_o church_n be_v here_o direct_v and_o advise_v to_o prove_v those_o that_o pretend_v they_o be_v the_o minister_n of_o jesus_n christ_n whether_o they_o be_v send_v by_o christ_n or_o no._n the_o church_n of_o ephesus_n be_v much_o commend_v for_o her_o care_n and_o when_o indeed_o he_o never_o send_v they_o they_o be_v messenger_n of_o satan_n and_o not_o of_o christ_n and_o therefore_o it_o concern_v the_o church_n to_o prove_v they_o well_o who_o come_v with_o these_o pretence_n and_o to_o sift_v they_o to_o the_o bottom_n that_o they_o may_v know_v not_o the_o speech_n of_o these_o man_n only_o but_o the_o power_n as_o the_o apostle_n speak_v 1_o cor._n 4_o 19_o and_o here_o you_o be_v not_o only_o to_o consider_v whether_o they_o have_v obtain_v the_o election_n and_o ordination_n of_o the_o church_n or_o no_o for_o many_o reach_n to_o this_o who_o be_v never_o send_v by_o christ_n but_o there_o be_v other_o thing_n to_o be_v observe_v i_o shall_v lay_v they_o down_o in_o order_n they_o that_o be_v send_v by_o jesus_n christ_n be_v furnish_v with_o competent_a ability_n at_o least_o for_o the_o delivery_n of_o their_o message_n you_o must_v not_o think_v that_o christ_n will_v send_v by_o the_o hand_n of_o a_o fool_n no_o if_o there_o be_v a_o messenger_n of_o christ_n he_o be_v one_o of_o a_o thousand_o for_o gift_n and_o ability_n in_o the_o time_n of_o the_o law_n when_o he_o raise_v up_o prophet_n what_o spirit_n what_o power_n what_o understanding_n be_v there_o in_o they_o and_o be_v his_o hand_n shorten_v
fruitful_a and_o have_v more_o increase_n of_o child_n than_o she_o that_o sometime_o have_v a_o husband_n oh_o let_v we_o magnify_v the_o grace_n of_o jesus_n christ_n let_v we_o adore_v the_o infiniteness_n of_o his_o mercy_n that_o he_o have_v cast_v we_o on_o these_o happy_a time_n wherein_o he_o take_v such_o care_n of_o poor_a gentile_n wherein_o he_o send_v to_o they_o and_o wherein_o he_o look_v after_o they_o as_o if_o they_o be_v some_o rich_a purchase_n ah_o my_o belove_a do_v we_o follow_v this_o mercy_n as_o far_o as_o we_o can_v reach_v it_o in_o our_o thought_n we_o shall_v at_o length_n find_v no_o end_n or_o bottom_n in_o it_o cry_v out_o with_o the_o apostle_n oh_o the_o depth_n of_o the_o riches_n both_o of_o the_o wisdom_n and_o goodness_n of_o christ_n etc._n the_o father_n in_o the_o thing_n yet_o it_o be_v nothing_o like_o it_o in_o the_o measure_n and_o degree_n though_o they_o be_v both_o the_o unction_n of_o the_o spirit_n christ_n be_v surpass_o transcendent_o beyond_o they_o he_o be_v endow_v with_o all_o the_o grace_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o every_o sort_n and_o every_o kind_n so_o that_o not_o one_o of_o they_o be_v want_v in_o he_o and_o therefore_o it_o be_v say_v in_o scripture_n that_o in_o he_o all_o fullness_n dwell_v that_o be_v the_o fullness_n of_o all_o grace_n whatsoever_o but_o now_o my_o brethren_n in_o the_o minister_n of_o christ_n it_o be_v not_o so_o in_o they_o there_o be_v a_o division_n of_o grace_n though_o not_o of_o the_o grace_n of_o sanctification_n yet_o of_o the_o grace_n of_o edification_n and_o one_o so_o each_o of_o they_o be_v raise_v and_o intend_v to_o the_o high_a measure_n so_o that_o there_o can_v be_v nothing_o add_v to_o it_o to_o make_v it_o more_o complete_a and_o perfect_a indeed_o my_o brethren_n he_o receive_v not_o the_o spirit_n by_o measure_n from_o the_o father_n as_o the_o evangelist_n observe_v john_n 4.32_o but_o beyond_o all_o measure_n but_o now_o the_o minister_n of_o christ_n receive_v from_o he_o but_o a_o measure_n of_o grace_n as_o the_o expression_n be_v rom._n 12.3_o so_o much_o as_o he_o see_v fit_a to_o qualify_v they_o for_o the_o work_n that_o he_o be_v the_o chief_a apostle_n both_o be_v preacher_n of_o the_o gospel_n but_o christ_n be_v the_o chief_a preacher_n he_o preach_v it_o with_o such_o authority_n as_o they_o be_v not_o invest_v with_o and_o with_o such_o efficacy_n too_o as_o they_o can_v never_o reach_v to_o he_o preach_v by_o the_o spirit_n to_o the_o heart_n and_o to_o the_o inward_a man_n and_o so_o he_o do_v it_o with_o infallible_a success_n they_o can_v preach_v only_o to_o the_o ear_n and_o to_o the_o outward_a man_n and_o hence_o they_o often_o fail_v of_o the_o desire_a issue_n they_o spend_v their_o strength_n in_o vain_a as_o the_o prophet_n once_o complain_v indeed_o the_o efficacy_n of_o their_o preach_n depend_v whole_o on_o the_o work_n and_o power_n of_o christ_n so_o that_o you_o see_v he_o be_v transcendent_o above_o they_o in_o the_o same_o business_n and_o then_o beside_o jesus_n christ_n be_v send_v on_o business_n which_o they_o be_v not_o to_o touch_v with_o he_o be_v send_v about_o the_o work_n of_o man_n redemption_n of_o satisfaction_n to_o the_o justice_n of_o his_o father_n by_o his_o bitter_a death_n and_o passion_n which_o be_v too_o heavy_a and_o too_o hard_o for_o any_o man_n or_o angel_n to_o go_v through_o with_o or_o to_o have_v a_o hand_n in_o there_o be_v a_o great_a similitude_n between_o the_o father_n send_v etc._n etc._n in_o relation_n to_o the_o end_n that_o both_o of_o they_o be_v send_v for_o christ_n send_v his_o minister_n into_o the_o world_n for_o the_o very_a same_o end_n that_o god_n the_o father_n send_v he_o for_o why_o do_v god_n the_o father_n send_v his_o son_n into_o the_o world_n to_o save_v his_o people_n as_o the_o expression_n be_v mat._n 1.21_o in_o which_o respect_n his_o father_n will_v not_o have_v he_o call_v apollyon_n know_v god_n true_a they_o have_v the_o outward_a mean_n but_o they_o want_v the_o inward_a mean_n they_o have_v the_o outward_a revelation_n of_o the_o word_n but_o they_o have_v not_o the_o inward_a revelation_n of_o the_o spirit_n and_o without_o this_o it_o be_v impossible_a for_o any_o man_n to_o know_v god_n and_o therefore_o the_o apostle_n pray_v for_o the_o ephesian_n that_o god_n will_v themselves_o by_o nature_n so_o much_o as_o a_o receptivity_n or_o a_o immediate_a passive_a capability_n of_o save_a knowledge_n for_o there_o be_v somewhat_o in_o they_o superfluous_a and_o there_o keep_v out_o the_o beam_n of_o truth_n and_o that_o be_v carnal_a reason_n and_o carnal_a wisdom_n 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d rom._n 8.7_o the_o wondrous_a perspicuity_n and_o sharpness_n of_o conceit_n that_o be_v in_o any_o man_n that_o be_v but_o flesh_n be_v so_o far_o from_o help_v he_o to_o know_v god_n that_o it_o do_v but_o hinder_v he_o and_o the_o ground_n be_v evident_a for_o
