of_o the_o heathen_a 6._o i_o choose_v you_o to_o be_v my_o portion_n my_o part_n and_o my_o heritage_n of_o all_o the_o people_n of_o the_o earth_n but_o so_o that_o you_o shall_v be_v content_v with_o i_o your_o god_n alone_o and_o with_o that_o worship_n that_o i_o have_v appoint_v but_o see_v you_o have_v forsake_v i_o and_o contrary_a to_o my_o law_n make_v you_o image_n and_o altar_n and_o every_o place_n that_o to_o thou_o seem_v pleasant_a 9_o yea_o and_o above_o all_o this_o mistrust_v my_o aid_n and_o help_v in_o thy_o distress_n thou_o send_v present_n and_o messenger_n for_o aid_n and_o succour_v to_o heathen_a and_o idolatrous_a prince_n which_o have_v not_o be_v able_a to_o deliver_v thou_o 10._o i_o have_v appoint_v thou_o but_o one_o way_n of_o safety_n that_o be_v put_v their_o trust_n in_o he_o for_o as_o the_o wicked_a shall_v perish_v and_o vanish_v away_o with_o their_o idol_n so_o shall_v the_o faithful_a that_o trust_n in_o god_n be_v save_v and_o receive_v comfort_n therefore_o thus_o say_v the_o lord_n 14._o make_v plain_a make_v plain_a etc_n etc_n as_o the_o prophet_n here_o particular_o respect_v the_o comfort_n of_o the_o faithful_a in_o his_o word_n unfaithfulness_n care_v of_o the_o world_n delight_n in_o pleasure_n superstition_n idolatry_n false_a worship_n and_o all_o other_o let_v whereby_o my_o people_n be_v hinder_v from_o come_v to_o i_o 15._o for_o though_o i_o dwell_v high_a in_o heaven_n i_o will_v not_o despise_v the_o humble_a and_o contrite_a heart_n i_o will_v not_o be_v *_o long_o angry_a with_o poor_a and_o trouble_a conscience_n 9_o but_o with_o the_o spirit_n of_o my_o comfort_n will_v i_o relieve_v they_o 16._o i_o will_v not_o strive_v with_o they_o for_o ever_o i_o know_v their_o wickedness_n i_o quietness_n no_o comfort_n but_o perpetual_a torment_n and_o anguish_n of_o mind_n so_o that_o their_o conscience_n shall_v be_v like_o the_o sea_n toss_v with_o wave_n and_o surge_n the_o four_o sunday_n after_o the_o epiphanie_n at_o evening_n prayer_n isaiah_n 58._o cry_v now_o as_o loud_a as_o thou_o can_v leave_v not_o of_o a_o lift_z up_o thy_o voice_n like_o a_o trumpet_n 14._o and_o with_o his_o spirit_n as_o we_o see_v in_o this_o place_n in_o exechiel_n who_o he_o not_o only_o command_v to_o stand_v up_o upon_o his_o foot_n that_o he_o may_v speak_v unto_o he_o but_o also_o endue_v he_o with_o his_o spirit_n that_o he_o may_v be_v able_a so_o to_o do_v for_o such_o be_v our_o weakness_n that_o when_o we_o be_v once_o overthrow_v we_o can_v rise_v of_o our_o self_n but_o only_o by_o the_o might_n of_o god_n holy_a grace_n and_o spirit_n wherefore_o say_v s._n paul_n we_o be_v not_o able_a of_o ourselves_o to_o do_v any_o thing_n 10_o but_o all_o our_o sufficiency_n be_v of_o god_n and_o again_o not_o of_o myself_o but_o of_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n in_o i_o ezechiel_n therefore_o stand_v not_o here_o upon_o his_o foot_n of_o himself_o but_o by_o the_o spirit_n can_v be_v persuade_v neither_o by_o the_o scourge_n and_o punishment_n of_o god_n any_o thing_n amend_v therefore_o be_v they_o describe_v to_o be_v a_o rebellious_a people_n ever_o stryve_v and_o set_v themselves_o against_o god_o 63_o as_o their_o *_o father_n have_v do_v before_o they_o a_o people_n of_o a_o hard_a and_o impudent_a face_n who_o nothing_o can_v make_v ashamed_a but_o rather_o with_o stout_a countenance_n will_v defend_v their_o wickedness_n and_o glory_n in_o it_o and_o therefore_o by_o hieremie_n also_o be_v they_o say_v to_o have_v a_o harlot_n forehead_n 3._o they_o day_n shewâ—_n no_o great_a ground_n of_o their_o conscience_n than_o to_o say_v they_o will_v believe_v and_o do_v 〈◊〉_d their_o forefather_n have_v do_v if_o that_o â—â—eason_n be_v sound_o as_o by_o this_o place_n and_o many_o other_o we_o be_v teach_v it_o be_v not_o sure_o the_o jew_n may_v well_o seem_v excusable_a and_o not_o so_o much_o to_o be_v blame_v for_o reject_v the_o doctrine_n of_o the_o prophet_n and_o of_o christ_n and_o his_o apostle_n for_o upon_o that_o reason_n they_o chief_o ground_v themselves_o therefore_o we_o ought_v diligent_o to_o learn_v by_o the_o unfallible_a rule_n of_o god_n word_n wherein_o our_o father_n do_v well_o and_o therein_o to_o follow_v they_o and_o contrariwise_o glad_o to_o shun_v and_o forsake_v those_o thing_n that_o they_o do_v otherwise_o when_o god_n command_v ezechiel_n to_o go_v to_o the_o child_n of_o israel_n and_o say_v unto_o they_o thus_o say_v the_o lord_n both_o preacher_n have_v to_o learn_v that_o they_o remember_v who_o messenger_n they_o be_v and_o that_o they_o teach_v not_o the_o people_n of_o god_n their_o own_o fantasy_n and_o device_n but_o that_o only_a 3._o as_o paul_n say_v which_o they_o have_v receive_v of_o god_o that_o they_o may_v bold_o say_v with_o ezechiel_n thus_o say_v the_o lord_n and_o on_o the_o other_o part_n the_o hearer_n and_o people_n be_v by_o the_o same_o word_n instruct_v when_o they_o hear_v the_o preacher_n not_o to_o make_v account_n of_o they_o as_o simple_a man_n only_o nor_o to_o accept_v their_o word_n as_o the_o word_n of_o man_n but_o as_o the_o doctrine_n of_o god_n who_o ambassador_n they_o be_v send_v by_o he_o to_o inform_v they_o of_o his_o holy_a will_n and_o pleasure_n and_o to_o lead_v they_o into_o his_o way_n the_o preacher_n of_o god_n must_v not_o look_v to_o have_v their_o doctrine_n by_o and_o by_o to_o be_v thankful_o &_o fruitful_o receive_v or_o that_o their_o labour_n &_o 〈◊〉_d shall_v have_v favourable_a and_o good_a success_n the_o prince_n of_o this_o world_n be_v enemy_n to_o god_n and_o to_o his_o cause_n and_o therefore_o will_v not_o easy_o suffer_v they_o that_o forsake_v god_n and_o fight_v under_o his_o banner_n to_o yield_v to_o the_o obedience_n of_o god_n and_o to_o be_v reform_v at_o his_o call_n therefore_o say_v god_n to_o ezechiel_n whether_o they_o will_v hear_v or_o refuse_v give_v not_o over_o thy_o function_n and_o office_n of_o teach_v but_o let_v they_o know_v to_o their_o further_a condemnation_n and_o to_o the_o take_v away_o of_o all_o pretence_n of_o ignorance_n that_o there_o and_o special_o spiritual_a that_o be_v 8._o *_o remission_n of_o sin_n *_o impute_v of_o christ_n justice_n to_o we_o and_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_o to_o *_o mortify_v the_o lust_n of_o the_o the_o wicked_a that_o they_o do_v die_v and_o live_v not_o again_o for_o their_o resurrection_n shall_v be_v to_o they_o a_o death_n perpetual_a and_o no_o life_n and_o although_o they_o seem_v to_o prosper_v and_o flourish_v long_o on_o earth_n to_o the_o annoyance_n of_o the_o godly_a yet_o the_o lord_n visit_v they_o in_o due_a time_n 16_o *_o and_o root_v the_o memory_n of_o they_o out_o of_o the_o earth_n so_o that_o they_o shall_v never_o rise_v again_o to_o glory_n thou_o have_v increase_v the_o people_n 17._o oh_o lord_n thou_o have_v increase_v etc_n etc_n this_o be_v the_o other_o part_n of_o the_o comparison_n touch_v the_o godly_a as_o if_o he_o have_v say_v thou_o oh_o lord_n christ_n destroy_v the_o wicked_a and_o roote_v out_o their_o memory_n nevertheless_o thou_o do_v gather_v thy_o church_n and_o increase_v the_o number_n of_o thy_o people_n that_o thy_o glory_n may_v be_v spread_v and_o extend_v to_o the_o uttermost_a bound_n of_o the_o earth_n and_o yet_o do_v thou_o not_o gather_v they_o to_o rest_n and_o quietness_n of_o this_o life_n but_o to_o great_a vexation_n and_o affliction_n and_o therefore_o do_v they_o resort_v to_o thou_o in_o their_o trouble_n have_v no_o sound_n faith_n or_o fear_n of_o god_n but_o only_o be_v carry_v away_o with_o his_o covetous_a desire_n if_o god_n will_v in_o any_o wise_a have_v suffer_v he_o but_o it_o may_v then_o be_v say_v why_o do_v god_n yield_v unto_o he_o and_o bid_v he_o go_v with_o those_o second_o messenger_n true_o not_o because_o he_o like_v either_o the_o mind_n of_o balaam_n or_o the_o thing_n
