good_a man_n to_o be_v a_o great_a self-denial_n he_o be_v true_o humble_a that_o be_v careful_a to_o do_v nothing_o for_o which_o he_o may_v just_o be_v despise_v and_o yet_o he_o be_v content_a to_o be_v so_o and_o meek_o bear_v with_o reproach_n grieve_v for_o the_o offence_n to_o god_n but_o rejoice_v in_o his_o own_o abasement_n he_o who_o most_o innocent_a action_n be_v misunderstand_v and_o misreport_v who_o be_v disappoint_v of_o his_o due_a reward_n and_o requite_v evil_a for_o good_a and_o yet_o be_v patient_a and_o content_v make_v it_o appear_v that_o he_o neither_o value_v himself_o nor_o his_o best_a action_n the_o humble_a man_n be_v silent_a of_o himself_o and_o dead_a to_o the_o world_n and_o when_o he_o be_v forsake_v and_o persecute_v yet_o in_o god_n he_o find_v refuge_n and_o comfort_n he_o be_v decent_o courteous_a and_o oblige_v to_o all_o person_n even_o to_o they_o that_o be_v his_o inferior_n he_o compare_v what_o be_v natural_a to_o he_o to_o the_o gift_n of_o god_n in_o other_o his_o imperfection_n to_o their_o virtue_n and_o so_o entertain_v always_o mean_a thought_n of_o himself_o and_o be_v content_a to_o have_v other_o prefer_v before_o he_o and_o to_o sit_v low_a and_o be_v conceal_v in_o his_o humility_n i_o may_v add_v that_o humility_n will_v make_v a_o man_n obedient_a to_o his_o superior_n meek_a and_o peaceable_a under_o government_n and_o always_o ready_a to_o believe_v better_o of_o the_o goodness_n and_o wisdom_n of_o his_o ruler_n than_o of_o his_o own_o but_o these_o must_v suffice_v 4._o this_o be_v a_o rude_a draught_n and_o but_o a_o imperfect_a image_n of_o that_o lovely_a creature_n call_v a_o humble_a christian_a whereby_o yet_o a_o man_n may_v discern_v how_o unlike_a he_o must_v be_v to_o the_o recommend_v to_o his_o follower_n by_o his_o low_a and_o wonderful_a humiliation_n in_o the_o exercise_n of_o humility_n there_o be_v no_o danger_n of_o excess_n we_o can_v never_o be_v too_o humble_a but_o we_o may_v easy_o not_o be_v humble_a enough_o here_o the_o danger_n be_v great_a as_o the_o crime_n also_o as_o he_o that_o will_v come_v in_o at_o a_o door_n which_o be_v low_a of_o entrance_n if_o he_o bow_v himself_o more_o than_o needs_o there_o be_v no_o harm_n do_v but_o if_o he_o come_v too_o upright_o and_o never_o so_o little_a too_o high_a he_o must_v bruise_v his_o head_n if_o not_o break_v his_o skull_n so_o the_o low_a humility_n will_v never_o hurt_v the_o soul_n but_o the_o least_o pride_n may_v destroy_v it_o let_v a_o christian_a therefore_o to_o avoid_v this_o danger_n not_o only_o not_o exalt_v himself_o but_o even_o not_o equal_v himself_o to_o other_o for_o in_o so_o do_v he_o shall_v best_o imitate_v the_o bless_a jesus_n who_o be_v son_n of_o god_n all_o thing_n it_o may_v be_v subject_a and_o conformable_a to_o his_o bless_a will_n be_v that_o live_n and_o holy_a sacrifice_n wherein_o god_n delight_v which_o none_o but_o a_o pious_a man_n can_v offer_v and_o which_o be_v the_o high_a act_n of_o religion_n we_o can_v perform_v on_o earth_n for_o in_o this_o submit_v and_o conform_v our_o will_n to_o the_o divine_a pleasure_n we_o offer_v not_o to_o god_n any_o one_o particular_a thing_n alone_o but_o our_o whole_a self_n body_n and_o soul_n and_o all_o that_o we_o have_v without_o any_o reservation_n therefore_o we_o shall_v make_v that_o our_o daily_a study_n thus_o to_o deny_v and_o forsake_v ourselves_o to_o empty_v our_o heart_n of_o all_o self-desire_n and_o self-affection_n that_o even_o here_o god_n may_v be_v all_o in_o all_o in_o we_o and_o we_o may_v be_v whole_o devote_v to_o he_o prepare_v and_o willing_a to_o be_v in_o all_o thing_n dispose_v of_o by_o he_o according_a as_o he_o shall_v think_v good_a for_o god_n will_v not_o work_v in_o we_o his_o good_a and_o acceptable_a will_n if_o we_o have_v a_o will_n of_o our_o own_o distinct_a from_o and_o contrary_a to_o he_o he_o require_v the_o whole_a heart_n and_o he_o that_o give_v less_o give_v nothing_o it_o may_v be_v allow_v indeed_o to_o human_a frailty_n that_o we_o shall_v wish_v and_o will_n after_o the_o manner_n of_o man_n but_o then_o
