have_v a_o large_a field_n to_o walk_v in_o and_o have_v as_o many_o object_n to_o work_v upon_o as_o there_o be_v matter_n and_o line_n and_o word_n in_o the_o scripture_n as_o there_o be_v know_v creature_n in_o the_o whole_a creation_n and_o as_o there_o be_v particular_a discernible_a passage_n of_o providence_n in_o the_o government_n of_o the_o person_n and_o action_n through_o the_o world_n but_o the_o meditation_n that_o i_o now_o direct_v you_o in_o be_v only_o of_o the_o end_n of_o all_o these_o and_o of_o these_o as_o they_o refer_v to_o that_o end_n it_o be_v not_o a_o walk_n from_o mountain_n to_o valley_n from_o sea_n to_o land_n from_o kingdom_n to_o kingdom_n from_o planet_n to_o planet_n but_o it_o be_v a_o walk_n from_o mountain_n
weary_a day_n and_o hour_n may_v make_v we_o long_o for_o our_o eternal_a rest_n that_o as_o the_o pull_n down_o of_o one_o end_n of_o the_o balance_n be_v the_o lift_v up_o of_o the_o other_o so_o the_o pull_v down_o of_o our_o body_n may_v be_v the_o lift_n up_o of_o our_o soul_n that_o as_o our_o soul_n be_v usual_o at_o the_o worst_a when_o our_o body_n be_v at_o the_o best_a so_o now_o they_o may_v be_v at_o the_o best_a when_o our_o body_n be_v at_o the_o worst_a why_o shall_v we_o not_o think_v thus_o with_o ourselves_o why_o every_o one_o of_o these_o gripe_n that_o i_o feel_v last_o so_o the_o effect_n of_o sin_n be_v bitter_a at_o the_o last_o and_o this_o be_v the_o last_o that_o ever_o i_o shall_v taste_v of_o it_o when_o once_o this_o whirlwind_n and_o earthquake_n on_o thy_o knee_n in_o prayer_n thou_o shall_v have_v many_o good_a thought_n will_v come_v into_o thy_o mind_n or_o when_o thou_o be_v hear_v the_o word_n or_o at_o such_o unseasonable_a time_n resist_v these_o good_a thought_n as_o come_v from_o the_o devil_n for_o they_o be_v formal_o evil_a though_o they_o be_v material_o good_a even_o good_a thought_n in_o themselves_o may_v be_v sinful_a to_o thou_o it_o may_v be_v when_o thou_o shall_v be_v diligent_a in_o thy_o necessary_a labour_n thou_o shall_v be_v move_v to_o cast_v aside_o all_o that_o thou_o may_v go_v to_o meditation_n or_o to_o prayer_n these_o motion_n be_v usual_o from_o the_o spirit_n of_o delusion_n the_o spirit_n of_o christ_n do_v nothing_o unreasonable_o god_n be_v not_o the_o god_n of_o confusion_n but_o of_o order_n 8._o sect_n viii_o 24._o thus_o much_o i_o think_v necessary_a to_o advise_v thou_o concern_v the_o time_n of_o this_o duty_n it_o now_o follow_v that_o i_o speak_v a_o word_n of_o the_o fit_a place_n though_o god_n be_v every_o where_o to_o be_v find_v by_o a_o faithful_a soul_n yet_o some_o place_n be_v more_o convenient_a for_o a_o duty_n than_o other_o 1._o as_o this_o be_v a_o private_a and_o spiritual_a duty_n so_o it_o be_v most_o convenient_a that_o thou_o retire_v to_o some_o private_a place_n our_o spirit_n have_v need_v of_o every_o help_n and_o to_o circumstance_n though_o to_o some_o they_o may_v seem_v small_a thing_n do_v much_o conduce_v to_o our_o hindrance_n or_o our_o help_n 23._o christ_n himself_o think_v it_o not_o vain_a to_o direct_v in_o this_o circumstance_n of_o private_a duty_n mat._n 6.4_o 6_o 18_o if_o in_o private_a prayer_n we_o must_v shut_v our_o door_n upon_o we_o that_o our_o father_n may_v hear_v we_o in_o secret_a fill_v with_o the_o person_n and_o action_n of_o man_n and_o thy_o ear_n with_o their_o discourse_n its_o hard_a then_o to_o have_v thy_o thought_n and_o affection_n free_a for_o this_o duty_n though_o i_o will_v not_o persuade_v thou_o to_o pythagoras_n his_o cave_n nor_o to_o the_o hermit_n wilderness_n nor_o to_o the_o monk_n cell_n yet_o i_o will_v advise_v thou_o to_o frequent_a solitariness_n that_o thou_o may_v sometime_o confer_v with_o christ_n and_o with_o thyself_o as_o well_o as_o with_o other_o we_o be_v flee_v so_o far_o from_o the_o solitude_n of_o superstition_n acknowledge_v it_o his_o own_o and_o christ_n will_v manifest_v himself_o unto_o it_o and_o the_o spirit_n will_v take_v it_o for_o his_o temple_n and_o residence_n so_o far_o as_o the_o soul_n be_v qualify_v for_o converse_v with_o god_n so_o far_o it_o do_v actual_o for_o the_o most_o part_n enjoy_v he_o therefore_o with_o all_o diligence_n keep_v thy_o heart_n for_o from_o thence_o be_v the_o
