to_o their_o heart_n they_o shall_v spend_v some_o time_n in_o preparation_n when_o they_o come_v to_o holy_a duty_n and_o the_o truth_n be_v when_o the_o conscience_n of_o a_o man_n or_o woman_n be_v at_o first_o enlighten_v and_o awaken_v they_o will_v be_v very_o careful_a in_o prepare_v to_o holy_a duty_n the_o fear_n of_o god_n it_o be_v mighty_a upon_o their_o spirit_n at_o first_o and_o it_o of_o the_o person_n of_o the_o man_n but_o god_n first_o will_v accept_v of_o the_o person_n before_o the_o action_n as_o the_o lord_n accept_v of_o abel_n first_o and_o then_o he_o accept_v his_o offering_n so_o you_o must_v look_v to_o that_o to_o have_v your_o person_n first_o accept_v of_o god_n before_o any_o duty_n can_v be_v accept_v you_o think_v though_o you_o be_v wicked_a and_o sinful_a yet_o if_o you_o amend_v your_o life_n god_n will_v accept_v of_o you_o you_o go_v that_o way_n to_o work_v but_o certain_o that_o be_v the_o wrong_a way_n you_o must_v first_o look_v after_o lie_v there_o lord_n sicily_n so_o when_o we_o go_v to_o duty_n we_o shall_v say_v lie_v by_o world_n and_o by_o lay_v aside_o the_o world_n i_o mean_v lay_v aside_o of_o all_o household_n affair_n or_o affair_n in_o trade_n etc._n etc._n i_o must_v be_v as_o one_o that_o have_v nothing_o to_o do_v in_o the_o world_n for_o that_o time_n it_o be_v true_a the_o time_n can_v be_v say_v to_o be_v that_o i_o perform_v then_o be_v more_o acceptable_a because_o they_o be_v do_v in_o such_o a_o time_n and_o so_o that_o make_v a_o place_n holy_a not_o because_o it_o be_v appoint_v for_o holy_a duty_n and_o use_n but_o because_o it_o be_v so_o appoint_v by_o god_n and_o the_o perform_v a_o duty_n in_o that_o place_n be_v more_o acceptable_a to_o god_n than_o in_o another_o place_n but_o now_o though_o we_o can_v make_v our_o time_n holy_a in_o that_o second_o sense_n yet_o in_o the_o first_o it_o be_v time_n set_v apart_o for_o a_o holy_a use_n and_o in_o that_o regard_n it_o be_v holy_a and_o so_o we_o shall_v look_v upon_o it_o as_o not_o to_o have_v our_o outward_a business_n to_o devour_v that_o time_n that_o be_v holy_a in_o that_o regard_n as_o nehemiah_n when_o tobiah_n and_o sanballat_n send_v to_o he_o to_o come_v and_o confer_v with_o they_o no_o say_v he_o i_o can_v go_v for_o the_o work_n be_v great_a that_o i_o have_v to_o do_v so_o we_o must_v not_o entangle_v ourselves_o to_o meddle_v with_o other_o thing_n when_o we_o be_v to_o come_v to_o worship_n god_n for_o our_o work_n be_v great_a the_o four_o thing_n for_o preparation_n be_v to_z watch_z and_o to_o pray_v we_o shall_v watch_v over_o our_o heart_n lest_o they_o be_v make_v unfit_a for_o duty_n so_o we_o shall_v prepare_v for_o prayer_n all_o day_n long_o in_o this_o sense_n that_o be_v we_o shall_v watch_v over_o our_o heart_n that_o they_o be_v not_o let_v out_o so_o far_o as_o to_o hinder_v we_o in_o prayer_n when_o we_o come_v to_o do_v it_o i_o remember_v that_o tertullian_n say_v that_o the_o christian_n do_v so_o sup_v as_o if_o they_o be_v to_o pray_v so_o when_o thou_o be_v in_o company_n thou_o shall_v watch_v unto_o prayer_n oh_o that_o you_o do_v so_o you_o can_v but_o be_v conscious_a to_o yourselves_o that_o oftentimes_o when_o you_o have_v be_v in_o company_n your_o heart_n have_v be_v put_v out_o of_o tune_n and_o frame_v that_o you_o have_v be_v no_o way_n fit_a for_o prayer_n when_o you_o come_v home_o your_o house_n and_o family_n find_v it_o so_o you_o that_o take_v such_o delight_n in_o company_n and_o sit_v up_o late_o i_o appeal_v to_o your_o conscience_n whether_o you_o can_v come_v home_o and_o find_v yourselves_o fit_a either_o in_o your_o family_n or_o closet_n to_o go_v and_o open_v you_o heart_n to_o god_n this_o be_v one_o note_v by_o the_o way_n whereby_o you_o may_v come_v to_o know_v whether_o you_o have_v be_v immoderate_a in_o company_n at_o any_o time_n god_n give_v not_o man_n liberty_n to_o be_v busy_a in_o any_o outward_a occasion_n so_o as_o to_o unfit_a they_o for_o his_o service_n preparation_n consist_v in_o that_o in_o watch_v over_o your_o heart_n that_o you_o may_v not_o be_v unfit_a for_o any_o holy_a duty_n when_o god_n call_v you_o to_o it_o but_o that_o you_o may_v be_v ready_a even_o to_o every_o good_a work_n the_o five_o note_n be_v this_o preparation_n consist_v in_o the_o readiness_n of_o the_o faculty_n of_o the_o soul_n and_o the_o grace_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n '_o present_o to_o act_v upon_o the_o set_n upon_o a_o holy_a duty_n when_o a_o man_n or_o woman_n shall_v find_v the_o faculty_n of_o their_o soul_n and_o the_o grace_n that_o be_v in_o they_o to_o be_v ready_a to_o act_v assoon_o as_o ever_o they_o fall_v upon_o duty_n just_o as_o you_o see_v a_o company_n of_o ringer_n when_o they_o have_v make_v all_o preparation_n for_o the_o raise_n of_o the_o bell_n then_o in_o a_o instant_n when_o thy_o begin_v to_o pull_v all_o the_o bell_n go_v in_o that_o tune_n that_o according_a to_o their_o skill_n they_o set_v they_o in_o and_o so_o it_o shall_v be_v with_o our_o heart_n the_o faculty_n of_o our_o soul_n and_o grace_n though_o now_o we_o be_v not_o upon_o duty_n yet_o we_o shall_v be_v so_o ready_a that_o as_o it_o be_v upon_o a_o pull_n all_o the_o faculty_n of_o our_o soul_n and_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n spirit_n shall_v work_v in_o a_o melodious_a way_n there_o be_v those_o that_o keep_v their_o heart_n so_o prepare_v as_o at_o the_o very_a first_o moment_n that_o they_o set_v about_o the_o duty_n of_o worship_n all_o faculty_n and_o grace_n begin_v to_o act_v and_o stir_v and_o be_v work_v towards_o god_n as_o a_o fire_n when_o all_o the_o matter_n be_v ready_a lay_v present_o it_o come_v to_o be_v kindle_v and_o flame_n out_o and_o thus_o it_o shall_v be_v with_o our_o heart_n so_o that_o now_o you_o see_v wherein_o preparation_n of_o our_o heart_n to_o duty_n consist_v the_o next_o thing_n be_v the_o excellency_n of_o this_o preparation_n and_o that_o may_v be_v in_o way_n of_o application_n to_o you_o to_o make_v you_o to_o be_v in_o love_n with_o preparation_n for_o holy_a duty_n there_o be_v abundance_n of_o good_a in_o it_o as_o first_o by_o this_o mean_n we_o come_v to_o make_v every_o duty_n of_o worship_n easy_a to_o we_o thing_n be_v difficult_a when_o we_o come_v upon_o they_o unprepared_a if_o you_o have_v a_o friend_n come_v to_o dinner_n or_o supper_n to_o you_o and_o shall_v come_v sudden_o and_o you_o have_v nothing_o prepare_v there_o will_v be_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o stir_n in_o the_o house_n but_o if_o you_o have_v every_o thing_n prepare_v it_o will_v be_v carry_v on_o in_o a_o easy_a way_n and_o the_o reason_n why_o people_n complain_v so_o much_o of_o difficulty_n in_o duty_n it_o be_v because_o their_o heart_n be_v not_o prepare_v indeed_o we_o have_v natural_o many_o thing_n that_o keep_v we_o off_o from_o god_n but_o when_o the_o heart_n be_v prepare_v for_o a_o holy_a duty_n it_o go_v off_o as_o easy_a to_o god_n even_o into_o the_o infinite_a ocean_n of_o all_o mercy_n and_o goodness_n as_o a_o ship_n go_v off_o to_o be_v launch_v when_o you_o have_v make_v preparation_n for_o it_o so_o the_o heart_n can_v go_v with_o a_o holy_a holdness_n to_o god_n when_o you_o have_v make_v preparation_n for_o holy_a duty_n in_o job_n 11._o the_o place_n which_o i_o quote_v before_o for_o the_o work_n of_o preparation_n do_v but_o consider_v a_o verse_n or_o two_o further_a and_o you_o shall_v find_v what_o abundance_n of_o good_a there_o come_v upon_o the_o keep_n of_o
second_o our_o heart_n must_v be_v sanctify_v because_o the_o lord_n do_v look_v more_o to_o the_o principle_n from_o whence_o a_o thing_n come_v than_o at_o the_o the_o thing_n itself_o as_o indeed_o be_v our_o heart_n right_a as_o they_o shall_v than_o all_o the_o good_a thing_n that_o come_v to_o we_o we_o will_v not_o so_o much_o regard_v what_o the_o thing_n be_v that_o we_o do_v enjoy_v from_o god_n as_o what_o the_o principle_n be_v from_o whence_o they_o come_v that_o be_v whether_o what_o we_o do_v enjoy_v from_o god_n be_v from_o the_o love_n of_o god_n in_o jesus_n christ_n or_o no_o whether_o it_o it_o be_v from_o the_o general_a bounty_n and_o patience_n of_o god_n or_o from_o the_o special_a love_n of_o god_n in_o jesus_n christ_n our_o heart_n will_v regard_v that_o most_o if_o we_o be_v spiritual_a now_o then_o look_v as_o a_o godly_a man_n be_v not_o satisfy_v with_o enjoy_v any_o good_a thing_n from_o god_n except_o he_o know_v it_o come_v from_o a_o principle_n of_o love_n to_o he_o in_o jesus_n christ_n so_o god_n be_v not_o please_v with_o any_o thing_n that_o come_v from_o we_o except_o he_o know_v that_o it_o come_v from_o a_o principle_n of_o love_n grace_n and_o holiness_n in_o our_o heart_n three_o according_a as_o the_o heart_n be_v so_o will_v the_o service_n be_v certain_o if_o the_o heart_n be_v unclean_a the_o duty_n will_v be_v unclean_a perhaps_o the_o word_n may_v be_v fine_a and_o brave_a but_o if_o there_o be_v a_o unclean_a heart_n the_o duty_n will_v be_v unclean_a as_o it_o be_v with_o a_o man_n that_o have_v the_o plague_n suppose_v he_o make_v a_o brave_a oration_n yet_o his_o breath_n be_v infectious_a so_o it_o be_v in_o our_o service_n with_o god_n if_o so_o be_v that_o our_o heart_n within_o we_o have_v the_o plague_n then_o certain_o the_o breath_n that_o come_v from_o we_o all_o our_o duty_n will_v be_v unclean_a and_o therefore_o that_o be_v the_o first_o thing_n that_o we_o be_v to_o look_v for_o in_o the_o sanctify_a god_n name_v in_o holy_a duty_n look_v to_o have_v thy_o heart_n sanctify_v and_o consider_v from_o what_o principle_n it_o come_v it_o be_v for_o want_n of_o this_o that_o thousand_o of_o our_o duty_n be_v cast_v aside_o and_o god_n never_o do_v regard_v they_o but_o this_o be_v the_o first_o particular_a there_o be_v many_o more_o to_o speak_v of_o sermon_n v._n leviticus_n 10._o 3._o i_o will_v be_v sanctify_v in_o they_o that_o come_v nigh_o i_o we_o proceed_v the_o next_o thing_n therefore_o for_o the_o behaviour_n of_o the_o soul_n in_o the_o sanctify_a as_o he_o be_v upon_o his_o throne_n in_o majesty_n and_o in_o glory_n as_o in_o isa_n 9_o 1_o 2._o you_o shall_v find_v that_o the_o prophet_n see_v the_o lord_n upon_o his_o throne_n it_o be_v a_o excellent_a thing_n when_o all_o who_o come_v to_o worship_n god_n every_o time_n they_o come_v to_o worship_v he_o have_v their_o eye_n dart_v up_o to_o heaven_n and_o behold_v the_o lord_n god_n sit_v in_o his_o glory_n upon_o his_o throne_n so_o you_o shall_v find_v in_o rev._n 4._o the_o 24._o elder_n that_o worship_v god_n they_o see_v he_o upon_o his_o throne_n in_o his_o glory_n and_o so_o they_o worship_v he_o they_o worship_v god_n to_o purpose_n indeed_o when_o they_o see_v the_o lord_n in_o that_o majesty_n as_o he_o be_v we_o shall_v at_o all_o time_n have_v high_a thought_n of_o god_n take_v heed_n of_o have_v low_a thought_n and_o apprehension_n of_o the_o infinite_a majesty_n of_o god_n at_o any_o time_n but_o especial_o when_o thou_o be_v to_o worship_v the_o great_a god_n then_o look_v upon_o the_o lord_n in_o that_o infinite_a distance_n that_o there_o be_v between_o he_o and_o thyself_o yea_o that_o infinite_a distance_n that_o there_o be_v between_o he_o and_o all_o creature_n in_o the_o world_n look_v upon_o the_o lord_n as_o lift_v up_o in_o glory_n not_o only_o above_o all_o creature_n but_o above_o all_o excellency_n that_o all_o angel_n and_o man_n in_o heaven_n and_o earth_n be_v able_a to_o imagine_v look_v upon_o the_o lord_n as_o have_v all_o excellency_n in_o himself_o join_v in_o one_o and_o that_o immutable_o look_v upon_o he_o as_o the_o fountain_n of_o all_o excellency_n good_a and_o glory_n that_o all_o creature_n in_o the_o world_n have_v and_o look_v upon_o the_o lord_n every_o time_n thou_o come_v to_o worship_v he_o as_o that_o god_n who_o angel_n do_v adore_v and_o before_o who_o the_o devil_n be_v force_v to_o tremble_v behold_v he_o in_o this_o his_o glory_n and_o this_o will_v help_v thou_o to_o sanctify_v his_o name_n when_o thou_o come_v to_o he_o the_o great_a reason_n why_o people_n come_v and_o worship_n god_n in_o a_o slight_a way_n it_o be_v because_o that_o they_o do_v not_o see_v god_n in_o his_o glory_n it_o be_v a_o great_a mercy_n for_o god_n to_o give_v unto_o we_o a_o sight_n of_o himself_o a_o sight_n of_o his_o glory_n here_o in_o this_o world_n while_o we_o be_v worship_v of_o he_o this_o will_v keep_v our_o eye_n and_o our_o thought_n from_o wander_a if_o we_o have_v a_o sight_n of_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n and_o have_v high_a thought_n of_o god_n what_o be_v the_o reason_n why_o we_o wander_v so_o as_o we_o do_v but_o mere_o because_o we_o see_v not_o god_n as_o now_o suppose_v you_o be_v in_o your_o house_n and_o look_v after_o every_o feather_n that_o be_v fly_v up_o and_o down_o if_o you_o shall_v hear_v that_o the_o king_n be_v come_v into_o the_o room_n or_o any_o great_a person_n it_o will_v compose_v your_o spirit_n because_o you_o have_v high_a thought_n of_o such_o as_o of_o those_o that_o be_v above_o you_o so_o let_v we_o look_v upon_o god_n as_o in_o his_o excellency_n and_o his_o glory_n and_o have_v high_a thought_n of_o he_o and_o this_o be_v that_o whereby_o we_o be_v to_o sanctify_v god_n name_n when_o we_o come_v before_o he_o in_o holy_a duty_n and_o that_o be_v the_o second_o thing_n first_o a_o sanctify_a heart_n and_o then_o high_a thought_n of_o god_n 3._o a_o three_o thing_n be_v high-end_n raised-end_n in_o the_o worship_v of_o god_n prov._n 15._o 24._o the_o way_n of_o life_n be_v above_o to_o the_o wise_a it_o be_v on_o high_a in_o this_o respect_n when_o he_o worship_v god_n his_o heart_n be_v lift_v up_o on_o high_a there_o be_v a_o holy_a raise_n of_o the_o heart_n which_o be_v well_o please_v to_o god_n our_o heart_n shall_v be_v on_o high_a in_o regard_n of_o the_o high_a end_n that_o we_o aim_v at_o in_o holy_a duty_n lift_v up_o thy_o prayer_n say_v hezekiah_n to_o the_o prophet_n in_o another_o case_n so_o i_o may_v say_v lift_v up_o thy_o soul_n when_o thou_o come_v to_o worship_n god_n in_o regard_n of_o the_o high_a end_n that_o thou_o aim_v at_o when_o we_o be_v worship_v god_n we_o shall_v have_v our_o heart_n above_o all_o creature_n and_o above_o ourselves_o let_v not_o our_o heart_n then_o be_v grovel_v upon_o the_o ground_n mingle_v with_o base_a and_o drossy_a thing_n when_o we_o come_v to_o worship_v the_o lord_n indeed_o it_o be_v fit_a that_o we_o shall_v have_v our_o heart_n low_a as_o we_o shall_v show_v hereafter_o in_o regard_n of_o humility_n but_o not_o low_a in_o regard_n of_o any_o baseness_n of_o spirit_n to_o mix_v with_o any_o base_a and_o low_a end_n now_o there_o be_v low_a and_o base_a end_n in_o worship_v of_o god_n as_o first_o we_o must_v take_v our_o spirit_n in_o prayer_n we_o shall_v take_v heed_n of_o the_o wander_a of_o our_o spirit_n in_o the_o hear_n of_o the_o word_n and_o receive_v the_o sacrament_n and_o so_o in_o prayer_n the_o people_n of_o god_n be_v much_o trouble_v with_o the_o wander_a of_o their_o thought_n both_o in_o word_n and_o sacrament_n and_o it_o be_v their_o great_a burden_n and_o shall_v be_v so_o but_o i_o never_o hear_v any_o more_o complain_n of_o the_o wander_a of_o their_o spirit_n than_o in_o the_o time_n of_o prayer_n the_o people_n of_o god_n be_v much_o pester_v in_o their_o spirit_n with_o this_o evil_a it_o be_v very_o grievous_a unto_o they_o and_o many_o of_o they_o go_v under_o it_o as_o a_o grievous_a burden_n all_o their_o day_n the_o chief_a burden_n that_o be_v upon_o their_o spirit_n be_v their_o wander_a in_o prayer_n so_o that_o if_o god_n shall_v speak_v to_o they_o as_o he_o speak_v unto_o solomon_n and_o bid_v he_o ask_v what_o he_o shall_v give_v he_o i_o very_o believe_v there_o be_v many_o in_o this_o congregation_n that_o have_v already_o good_a assurance_n of_o god_n love_n in_o christ_n if_o they_o have_v not_o that_o that_o will_v be_v the_o main_a thing_n that_o they_o will_v ask_v but_o have_v attain_v that_o if_o god_n will_v speak_v from_o heaven_n and_o say_v what_o shall_v i_o give_v you_o for_o yourselves_o if_o he_o shall_v ask_v you_o in_o the_o general_n it_o may_v be_v you_o will_v ask_v something_o for_o the_o church_n but_o if_o it_o be_v for_o yourselves_o you_o will_v put_v up_o this_o petition_n oh_o lord_n that_o i_o may_v be_v deliver_v from_o a_o wander_a spirit_n in_o holy_a duty_n and_o especial_o in_o the_o duty_n of_o prayer_n that_o i_o may_v thereby_o come_v to_o enjoy_v more_o holy_a communion_n with_o thyself_o than_o ever_o yet_o i_o enjoy_v and_o they_o will_v account_v this_o to_o be_v a_o great_a mercy_n than_o if_o god_n shall_v give_v they_o to_o be_v king_n or_o queen_n over_o the_o whole_a world_n if_o god_n shall_v put_v these_o two_o into_o the_o balance_n either_o the_o whole_a world_n to_o possess_v or_o otherwise_o to_o have_v more_o free_a heart_n in_o come_v to_o god_n in_o prayer_n and_o to_o be_v deliver_v from_o that_o which_o have_v so_o much_o hinder_v their_o communion_n with_o god_n in_o prayer_n they_o will_v despise_v and_o scorn_v the_o world_n in_o comparison_n of_o such_o a_o mercy_n as_o this_o be_v howsoever_o carnal_a heart_n they_o think_v little_a of_o it_o but_o those_o that_o be_v the_o servant_n of_o god_n they_o find_v it_o to_o be_v very_o grievous_a to_o they_o but_o be_v the_o time_n be_v past_a i_o shall_v reserve_v that_o to_o speak_v yet_o a_o little_a more_o large_o for_o the_o help_n of_o those_o that_o be_v under_o the_o burden_n of_o it_o i_o will_v only_o speak_v one_o thing_n further_o now_o and_o that_o shall_v be_v to_o those_o that_o be_v wicked_a and_o vile_a and_o not_o only_o have_v vain_a wander_a thought_n in_o prayer_n but_o even_o in_o the_o very_a duty_n of_o prayer_n many_o time_n have_v wicked_a and_o ungodly_a thought_n how_o horrible_a be_v they_o unclean_a thought_n murderous_a thought_n it_o may_v be_v and_o most_o abominable_a i_o confess_v even_o those_o which_o be_v godly_a may_v sometime_o have_v some_o blasphemous_a thought_n cast_v into_o they_o for_o the_o devil_n be_v never_o more_o busy_a than_o at_o the_o time_n of_o prayer_n but_o they_o rather_o come_v from_o the_o devil_n than_o from_o the_o stream_n and_o corruption_n of_o their_o own_o heart_n which_o may_v be_v we_o may_v make_v out_o more_o cleerlie_o afterward_o but_o now_o i_o speak_v to_o such_o as_o have_v most_o wicked_a
corruption_n that_o be_v in_o thy_o soul_n before_o the_o work_n of_o thy_o corruption_n will_v discover_v much_o evil_n in_o thy_o heart_n that_o thou_o do_v not_o think_v be_v there_o before_o when_o the_o corruption_n of_o man_n and_o woman_n lie_v still_o they_o think_v there_o be_v no_o such_o thing_n in_o their_o soul_n as_o your_o civil_a man_n what_o be_v the_o reason_n that_o they_o bless_v themselves_o and_o think_v they_o be_v in_o a_o good_a condition_n it_o be_v because_o their_o corruption_n lie_v still_o in_o they_o and_o do_v not_o stir_v they_o can_v believe_v what_o abundance_n of_o wickedness_n there_o be_v in_o their_o heart_n if_o god_n shall_v open_v the_o wickedness_n that_o there_o be_v in_o the_o heart_n of_o man_n natural_o and_o so_o all_o unregenerate_a man_n they_o will_v think_v you_o speak_v strange_a riddle_n whereas_o they_o bless_v themselves_o they_o bless_v god_n they_o know_v no_o such_o thing_n in_o their_o heart_n no_o yes_o there_o be_v such_o thing_n only_o they_o be_v not_o stir_v but_o they_o lie_v quiet_a as_o mud_n in_o the_o bottom_n of_o a_o pond_n there_o it_o be_v yet_o you_o can_v see_v it_o till_o it_o be_v stir_v at_o first_o conversion_n i_o say_v the_o lord_n suffer_v thy_o corruption_n thus_o to_o stir_v that_o he_o may_v discover_v to_o thou_o what_o a_o evil_a heart_n thou_o have_v what_o abundance_n of_o sin_n there_o be_v in_o thy_o heart_n and_o therefore_o your_o young_a convert_n they_o look_v upon_o themselves_o as_o more_o loathsome_a and_o vile_a than_o ever_o they_o think_v they_o have_v be_v and_o beside_o the_o devil_n see_v it_o a_o vain_a thing_n to_o tempt_v a_o young_a convert_n to_o any_o gross_a act_n of_o sin_n when_o conscience_n have_v life_n and_o power_n in_o it_o he_o shall_v never_o prevail_v that_o way_n but_o now_o he_o think_v he_o may_v prevail_v to_o disturb_v they_o with_o vain_a thought_n and_o therefore_o he_o lay_v his_o strength_n most_o that_o way_n therefore_o let_v not_o such_o be_v discourage_v that_o find_v their_o spirit_n anoy_v and_o pester_v with_o they_o if_o they_o make_v they_o to_o be_v the_o burden_n of_o their_o soul_n notwithstanding_o much_o vanity_n of_o thought_n the_o lord_n will_v accept_v of_o any_o desire_n that_o they_o have_v to_o sanctify_v his_o name_n in_o holy_a duty_n and_o i_o shall_v give_v you_o these_o three_o or_o four_o rule_n to_o help_v you_o against_o these_o wander_a and_o vain_a thought_n in_o holy_a duty_n and_o especial_o in_o prayer_n first_o when_o thou_o go_v to_o prayer_n account_v it_o to_o be_v a_o great_a work_n set_v a_o high_a price_n upon_o thy_o prayer_n not_o as_o have_v any_o excellency_n in_o it_o as_o it_o come_v from_o thou_o but_o set_v a_o high_a price_n upon_o it_o as_o a_o great_a ordinance_n of_o god_n wherein_o there_o be_v communion_n with_o god_n to_o be_v enjoy_v and_o the_o influence_n of_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n to_o be_v convey_v through_o it_o so_o set_v a_o high_a price_n upon_o prayer_n at_o every_o time_n thou_o be_v go_v to_o prayer_n lord_n i_o be_o now_o set_v upon_o a_o work_n that_o be_v of_o very_o great_a consequence_n and_o much_o lie_v upon_o it_o and_o i_o will_v account_v it_o to_o be_v a_o sore_a and_o a_o great_a evil_n to_o i_o if_o i_o shall_v lose_v but_o this_o prayer_n this_o will_v be_v a_o special_a mean_n to_o compose_v thy_o spirit_n and_o to_o keep_v thou_o from_o wander_v as_o nehemiah_n in_o nehem._n 6._o 3._o a_o place_n which_o i_o have_v sometime_o quote_v upon_o such_o a_o occasion_n when_o the_o enemy_n of_o parly_v with_o these_o thing_n the_o work_n that_o i_o be_o about_o be_v a_o great_a work_n there_o be_v very_o few_o people_n that_o do_v account_v the_o work_n of_o prayer_n a_o great_a work_n if_o thou_o do_v it_o will_v help_v thou_o much_o against_o the_o vanity_n of_o thy_o thought_n second_o every_o time_n thou_o go_v to_o prayer_n thou_o that_o be_v most_o trouble_v with_o such_o vain_a thought_n renew_v thy_o resolution_n against_o they_o i_o have_v be_v trouble_v with_o vain_a thought_n heretofore_o and_o be_o afraid_a if_o i_o look_v not_o to_o it_o that_o i_o shall_v lose_v at_o the_o time_n when_o he_o be_v go_v about_o it_o now_o he_o do_v resolve_v upon_o it_o and_o set_v himself_o upon_o it_o and_o do_v resolve_v through_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n that_o whatsoever_o difficulty_n he_o meet_v withal_o whatsoever_o it_o cost_v he_o that_o he_o will_v go_v through_o this_o work_n i_o say_v that_o resolution_n renew_v have_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o power_n and_o you_o can_v imagine_v what_o a_o great_a deal_n of_o power_n the_o renew_n of_o resolution_n against_o vain_a thought_n will_v have_v if_o they_o be_v renew_v every_o time_n thou_o go_v to_o prayer_n until_o thou_o get_v power_n over_o thy_o thought_n do_v but_o make_v trial_n of_o this_o thou_o have_v lose_v many_o a_o prayer_n by_o vain_a thought_n and_o thou_o have_v be_v trouble_v for_o they_o and_o yet_o they_o come_v again_o do_v but_o try_v for_o this_o week_n as_o i_o remember_v i_o say_v in_o the_o point_n of_o passion_n and_o anger_n that_o we_o shall_v resolve_v with_o ourselves_o well_o whatsoever_o fall_v out_o this_o morning_n i_o be_o resolve_v i_o will_v bear_v it_o so_o bethink_v thyself_o how_o many_o prayer_n thou_o have_v lose_v by_o vain_a thought_n and_o now_o renew_v thy_o resolution_n and_o covenant_n with_o god_n that_o for_o this_o prayer_n i_o will_v set_v myself_o against_o they_o whatsoever_o pain_n i_o take_v i_o will_v be_v sure_a yet_o withal_o prayer_n have_v a_o real_a sight_n of_o the_o infinite_a greatness_n majesty_n and_o glory_n of_o that_o you_o present_v yourselves_o unto_o when_o you_o be_v call_v upon_o he_o if_o so_o be_v that_o thou_o can_v be_v a_o real_a sight_n of_o god_n in_o his_o glory_n it_o will_v keep_v thy_o heart_n close_o to_o the_o duty_n as_o if_o a_o man_n be_v wander_v with_o his_o eye_n and_o look_v after_o
