prove_v uncomfortable_a to_o we_o outward_a thing_n be_v only_o so_o far_o forth_o good_a as_o we_o do_v not_o trust_v in_o they_o thorn_n may_v be_v touch_v but_o not_o rest_v on_o for_o than_o they_o will_v pierce_v we_o must_v not_o set_v our_o heart_n upon_o those_o thing_n which_o be_v never_o evil_a to_o we_o but_o when_o we_o set_v our_o heart_n upon_o they_o 10_o by_o trust_v any_o sensible_a of_o a_o little_a thing_n that_o it_o want_v then_o of_o all_o other_o thing_n which_o it_o enjoy_v but_o see_v the_o insufficiency_n of_o all_o other_o thing_n out_o of_o god_n to_o support_v the_o soul_n in_o their_o several_a degree_n first_o all_o outward_a thing_n can_v make_v a_o man_n no_o happy_a 1._o then_o outward_a thing_n can_v do_v they_o can_v reach_v beyond_o their_o proper_a sphere_n but_o our_o great_a grievance_n be_v spiritual_a and_o as_o for_o inward_a thing_n whether_o 2._o gift_n or_o grace_n they_o can_v be_v a_o sufficient_a stay_n for_o the_o mind_n for_o 1._o gift_n as_o policy_n and_o wisdom_n etc._n etc._n they_o be_v at_o the_o best_a very_o defective_a especial_o when_o we_o trust_v in_o they_o for_o wisdom_n 10_o make_v man_n often_o to_o rebel_n and_o thereupon_o god_n delight_v to_o blast_v their_o project_n none_o miscarry_v often_o than_o man_n of_o the_o great_a part_n as_o none_o be_v often_o drown_v then_o those_o that_o be_v most_o skilful_a in_o swim_v because_o it_o make_v they_o confident_a and_o for_o grace_n though_o it_o be_v the_o beginning_n of_o a_o new_a creature_n in_o we_o yet_o it_o be_v but_o a_o creature_n and_o therefore_o not_o to_o be_v trust_v in_o nay_o by_o trust_v in_o it_o we_o embase_v it_o and_o make_v it_o more_o imperfect_a so_o far_o as_o there_o be_v truth_n of_o grace_n it_o breed_v distrust_n of_o ourselves_o and_o carry_v the_o soul_n out_o of_o itself_o to_o the_o fountain_n of_o strength_n and_o for_o any_o work_n that_o proceed_v from_o grace_n by_o trust_v soul_n close_o to_o god_n that_o nothing_o get_v between_o for_o then_o the_o soul_n have_v no_o sure_a foot_n when_o we_o step_v from_o god_n satan_n step_v in_o by_o some_o temptation_n or_o other_o present_o it_o require_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o self_n denial_n to_o bring_v a_o soul_n either_o swell_n with_o carnal_a confidence_n or_o sink_v by_o fear_n and_o distrust_n to_o lie_v level_n upon_o god_n and_o cleave_v fast_o to_o he_o square_n will_v lie_v fast_o upon_o square_n but_o our_o heart_n be_v so_o full_a of_o unevennesse_n that_o god_n have_v much_o ado_n to_o square_v our_o trust_v to_o the_o physician_n in_o want_n to_o our_o wit_n and_o shift_n in_o danger_n to_o policy_n and_o the_o arm_n of_o flesh_n in_o plenty_n to_o our_o present_a supply_n etc._n etc._n but_o when_o we_o have_v nothing_o in_o view_n than_o indeed_o shall_v god_n be_v god_n unto_o we_o in_o time_n of_o distress_n when_o he_o show_v himself_o in_o the_o way_n of_o his_o mercy_n and_o goodness_n than_o we_o shall_v especial_o magnify_v his_o name_n which_o will_v move_v he_o to_o discover_v his_o excellency_n the_o more_o the_o more_o we_o take_v notice_n of_o they_o and_o therefore_o david_n strengthen_v himself_o in_o these_o word_n that_o he_o hope_v for_o better_a time_n wherein_o god_n will_v show_v himself_o more_o gracious_a to_o he_o because_o 〈◊〉_d resolve_v and_o assist_v by_o a_o high_a spirit_n will_v stand_v out_o against_o ordinary_a assault_n but_o when_o god_n the_o god_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o all_o flesh_n shall_v seem_v contrary_a to_o our_o spirit_n whence_o then_o shall_v we_o find_v relief_n here_o all_o be_v spiritual_a god_n a_o spirit_n the_o soul_n a_o spirit_n the_o terror_n spiritual_a the_o devil_n who_o join_v with_o these_o
