that which he was commanded 35 And the children of Israel saw the face of Moses that the skin of Moses face shone and Moses put the vail upon his face again until he went in to speak with him CHAP. XXXV 1 The sabbath 4 The free gifts for the tabernacle 20 The readiness of the people to offer 30 Bezaleel and Aholiab are called to the work ANd Moses gathered all the congregation of the children of Israel together and said unto them These are the words which the LORD hath commanded that ye should do them 2 * Chap. 20.9 Lev. 23.3 Deut. 5.12 Luke 13.14 Six days shall work be done but on the seventh day there shall be to you †Heb. holiness an holy day a sabbath of rest to the LORD whosoever doth work therein shall be put to death 3 Ye shall kindle no fire throughout your habitations upon the sabbath-day 4 ¶ And Moses spake unto all the congregation of the children of Israel saying This is the thing which the LORD commanded saying 5 Take ye from amongst you an offering unto the LORD * Chap 25.2 Whosoever is of a willing heart let him bring it an offering of the LORD gold and silver and brass 6 And blue and purple and scarlet and fine linen and goats hair 7 And rams skins died red and badgers skins and shittim-wood 8 And oyl for the light and spices for anointing oyl and for the sweet incense 9 And onyx-stones and stones to be set for the ephod and for the breast-plate 10 And every wise-hearted among you shall come and make all that the LORD hath commanded 11 * Chap. 26.1 c. The tabernacle his tent and his covering his taches and his boards his bars his pillars and his sockets 12 The ark and the staves thereof with the mercy-seat and the vail of the covering 13 The table and his staves and all his vessels and the shew-bread 14 The candlestick also for the light and his furniture and his lamps with the oyl for the light 15 * Chap. 30.1 And the incense-altar and his staves and the anointing oyl and the sweet incense and the hanging for the door at the entring in of the tabernacle 16 * Chap. 27.1 The altar of burnt-offering with his brasen grate his staves and all his vessels the laver and his foot 17 The hangings of the court his pillars and their sockets and the hanging for the door of the court 18 The pins of the tabernacle the pins of the court and their cords 19 The clothes of service to do service in the holy place the holy garments for Aaron the priest and the garments of his sons to minister in the priests office 20 ¶ And all the congregation of the children of Israel departed from the presence of Moses 21 And they came every one whose heart stirred him up and every one whom his spirit made willing and they brought the LORDS offering to the work of the tabernacle of the congregation and for all his service and for the holy garments 22 And they came both men and women as many as were willing-hearted and brought bracelets and ear-rings and rings and tablets all jewels of gold and every man that offered offered an offering of gold unto the LORD 23 And every man with whom was found blue and purple and scarlet and fine linen and goats hair and red skins of rams and badgers skins brought them 24 Every one that did offer an offering of silver and brass brought the LORDS offering and every man with whom was found shittim-wood for any work of the service brought it 25 And all the women that were wise-hearted did spin with their hands and brought that which they had spun both of blue and of purple and of scarlet and of fine linen 26 And all the women whose heart stirred them up in wisdom spun goats hair 27 And the rulers brought onyx-stones and stones to be set for the ephod and for the breast-plate 28 And * Chap 30.23 spice and oyl for the light and for the anointing oyl and for the sweet incense 29 The children of Israel brought a willing offering unto the LORD every man and woman whose heart made them willing to bring for all manner of work which the LORD had commanded to be made by the hand of Moses 30 ¶ And Moses said unto the children of Israel See * Chap. 31.2 the LORD hath called by name Bezaleel the son of Uri the son of Hur of the tribe of Judah 31 And he hath filled him with the spirit of God in wisdom in understanding and in knowledge and in all manner of workmanship 32 And to devise curious works to work in gold and in silver and in brass 33 And in the cutting of stones to set them and in carving of wood to make any manner of cunning work 34 And he hath put in his heart that he may teach both he and Aholiab the son of Ahisamach of the tribe of Dan. 35 Them hath he filled with wisdom of heart to work all manner of work of the engraver and of the cunning workman and of the embroiderer in blue and in purple in scarlet and in fine linen and of the weaver even of them that do any work and of those that devise cunning work CHAP. XXXVI 1 The offerings are delivered to the workmen 5 The liberality of the people is restrained 8 The curtains of cherubims 14 The curtains of goats hair 19 The covering of skins 20 The boards with their sockets 31 The bars 35 The vail 37 The hanging for the door THen wrought Bezaleel and Aholiab and every wise-hearted man in whom the LORD put wisdom and understanding to know how to work all manner of work for the service of the sanctuary according to all that the LORD had commanded 2 And Moses called Bezaleel and Aholiab and every wise-hearted man in whose heart the LORD had put wisdom even every one whose heart stirred him up to come unto the work to do it 3 And they received of Moses all the offering which the children of Israel had brought for the work of the service of the sanctuary to make it withal And they brought yet unto him free-offerings every morning 4 And all the wise men that wrought all the work of the sanctuary came every man from his work which they made 5 ¶ And they spake unto Moses saying The people bring much more then enough for the service of the work which the LORD commanded to make 6 And Moses gave commandment and they caused it to be proclaimed throughout the camp saying Let neither man nor woman make any more work for the offering of the sanctuary so the people were restrained from bringing 7 For the stuff they had was sufficient for all the work to make it and too much 8 ¶ * Chap. 26.3 4. And every wise-hearted man among them that wrought the work of the tabernacle made ten curtains of fine twined
shall be †Heb. twinâ—ed coupled together beneath and they shall be coupled together above the head of it unto one ring thus shall it be for them both they shall be for the two corners 25 And they shall be eight boards and their sockets of silver sixteen sockets two sockets under one board and two sockets under another board 26 ¶ And thou shalt make bars of shittim-wood five for the boards of the one side of the tabernacle 27 And five bars for the boards of the other side of the tabernacle five bars for the boards of the side of the tabernacle for the two sides west-ward 28 And the middle bar in the midst of the boards shall reach from end to end 29 And thou shalt overlay the boards with gold and make their rings of gold for places for the bars thou shalt overlay the bars with gold 30 And thou shalt rear up the tabernacle * Ch. 25.9 40. Act. 7.44 Heb. 8.5 according to the fashion thereof which was shewed thee in the mount 31 ¶ And thou shalt make a vail of blue and purple and scarlet and fine twined linen of cunning work with cherubims shall it be made 32 And thou shalt hang it upon four pillars of shittim wood overlaid with gold their hooks shall be of gold upon the four sockets of silver 33 ¶ And thou shalt hang up the vail under the taches that thou mayest bring in thither within the vail the ark of the testimony and the vail shall divide unto you between the holy place and the most holy 34 And thou shalt put the mercy-seat upon the ark of the testimony in the most holy place 35 And thou shalt set the table without the vail and the candlestick over against the table on the side of the tabernacle toward the south and thou shalt put the table on the north-side 36 And thou shalt make an hanging for the door of the tent of blue and purple scarlet fine twined linen wrought with needle-work 37 And thou shalt make for the hanging five pillars of shittim wood and overlay them with gold and their hooks shall be of gold and thou shalt cast five sockets of brass for them CHAP. XXVII 1 The altar of burnt-offering with the vessels thereof 9 The court of the tabernacle inclosed with hangings and pillars 18 The measure of the court 20 The oyl for the lamp ANd thou shalt make an altar of shittim-wood five cubits long and five cubits broad the altar shall be four-square and the height thereof shall be three cubits 2 And thou shalt make the horns of it upon the four corners thereof his horns shall be of the same and thou shalt overlay it with brass 3 And thou shalt make his pans to receive his ashes and his shovels and his basons and his flesh-hooks and his fire pans all the vessels thereof thou shalt make of brass 4 And thou shalt make for it a grate of net-work of brass and upon the net shalt thou make four brasen rings in the four corners thereof 5 And thou shalt put in under the compass of the altar beneath that the net may be even to the midst of the altar 6 And thou shalt make staves for the altar staves of shittim-wood and overlay them with brass 7 And the staves shall be put into the rings and the staves shall be upon the two sides of the altar to bear it 8 Hollow with boards shalt thou make it as †Heb. be shewed it was shewed thee in the mount so shall they make it 9 ¶ And thou shalt make the court of the tabernacle for the south-side south-ward there shall be hangings for the court of fine twined linen of an hundred cubits long for one side 10 And the twenty pillars thereof and their twenty sockets shall be of brass the hooks of the pillars and their fillets shall be of silver 11 And likewise for the north-side in length there shall be hangings of an hundred cubits long and his twenty pillars and their twenty sockets of brass the hooks of the pillars and their fillets of silver 12 ¶ And for the breadth of the court on the west-side shall be hangings of fifty cubits their pillars ten and their sockets ten 13 And the breadth of the court on the east-side east-ward shall be fifty cubits 14 The hangings of one side of the gate shall be fifteen cubits their pillars three and their sockets three 15 And on the other side shall be hangings fifteen cubits their pillars three and their sockets three 16 ¶ And for the gate of the court shall be an hanging of twenty cubits of blue and purple and scarlet and fine twined linen wrought with needle-work and their pillars shall be four and their sockets four 17 All the pillars round about the court shall be filleted with silver their hooks shall be of silver and their sockets of brass 18 ¶ The length of the court shall be an hundred cubits and the breadth †Heb. fifty by fifty fifty every where and the height five cubits of fine twined linen and their sockets of brass 19 All the vessels of the tabernacle in all the service thereof and all the pins thereof and all the pins of the court shall be of brass 20 ¶ And thou shalt command the children of Israel that they bring thee pure oyl-olive beaten for the light to cause the lamp †Heb. to ascend up to burn always 21 In the tabernacle of the congregatâ—on without the vail which is before the testimony Aaron and his sons shall order it from evening to morning before the LORD It shall be a statute for ever unto their generations on the behalf of the children of Israel CHAP. XXVIII 1 Aaron and his sons are set apart for the priests office 2 Holy garments are appointed 6 The ephod 15 The breast-plate with twelve precious stones 30 The Vrim and Thummim 31. The robe of the ephod with pomegranates and bells 36 The plate of the mitre 39 The embroidered coat 40 The garments for Aarons sons ANd take thou unto thee Aaron thy brother his sons with him from among the children of Israel that he may minister unto me in the priests office even Aaron Nadab Abihu Eleazar Ithamar Aarons sons 2 And thou shalt make holy garments for Aaron thy brother for glory and for beauty 3 And thou shalt speak unto all that are wise-hearted whom I have filled with the spirit of wisdom that they may make Aarons garments to consecrate him that he may minister unto me in the Priests office 4 And these are the garments which they shall make a breast-plate and an ephod and a robe and a broidered coat a mitre and a girdle and they shall make holy garments for Aaron thy brother and his sons that he may minister unto me in the priests office 5 And they shall take gold blue purple scarlet and fine linen 6 ¶ And they
son of Enan 28 †Heb. these Thus were the journeyings of the children of Israel according to their armies when they set forward 29 ¶ And Moses said unto Hobab the son of Raguel the Midianite Moses father in law We are journeying unto the place of which the LORD said I will give it you come thou with us and we will do thee good for the LORD hath spoken good concerning Israel 30 And he said unto him I will not go but I will depart to mine own land and to my kindred 31 And he said Leave us not I pray thee forasmuch as thou knowest how we are to encamp in the wilderness and thou mayest be to us in stead of eyes 32 And it shall be if thou go with us yea it shall be that what goodness the LORD shall do unto us the same will we do unto thee 33 ¶ And they departed from the mount of the LORD three days journey and the ark of the covenant of the LORD went before them in the three days journey to search out a resting-place for them 34 And the cloud of the LORD was upon them by day when they went out of the camp 35 And it came to pass when the ark set forward that Moses said * Psal 68.1 2. Rise up LORD and let thine enemies be scattered and let them that hate thee flee before thee 36 And when it rested he said Return O LORD unto the †Heb. ten thousand thousands many thousands of Israel CHAP. XI 1 The burning at Taberah quenched by Moses prayer 4 The people lust for flesh and lothe manna 10 Moses complaineth of his charge 16 God divideth his burden unto sevent-elders 31 Quarls are given in wrath at Kibroth hattaavah ANd when the people ‖ Or were as it were complainers complained †Heb. it was evil in the ears of c. it displeased the LORD and the LORD heard it and his anger was kindled and the fire of the LORD burnt * Ps 78.21 among them and consumed them that were in the uttermost parts of the camp 2 And the people cried unto Moses and when Moses prayed unto the LORD the fire †Heb. sunk was quenched 3 And he called the name of the place ‖ That is a burning Taberah because the fire of the LORD burnt among them 4 ¶ And the * As Ex. 12.38 mixt multitude that was among them †Heb. lusted a lust fell a lusting and the children of Israel also †Heb. returned and wept wept again and said * 1 Cor. 10.6 Who shall give us flesh to eat 5 We remember the fish which we did eat in Egypt freely the cucumbers and the melons and the leeks and the onions and the garlick 6 But now our soul is dried away there is nothing at all besides this manna before our eyes 7 And * Ex. 16.14 31. the manna was coriander-feed and the †Heb. eye of it as the eye of colour thereof as the colour of bdellium 8 And the people went about and gathered it and ground it in mills or beat it in a mortar and baked it in pans and made cakes of it and the taste of it was as the taste of fresh oyl 9 And when the dew fell upon the camp in the night the manna fell upon it 10 ¶ The Moses heard the people weep throughout their families every man in the door of his tent and the anger of the LORD was kindled greatly Moses also was displeased 11 And Moses said unto the LORD Wherefore hast thou afflicted thy servant and wherefore have I not found favour in thy sight that thou layest the burden of all this people upon me 12 Have I conceived all this people have I begotten them that thou shouldest say unto me Carry them in thy bosom as a nursing-father beareth the sucking childe unto the land which thou swearest unto their fathers 13 Whence should I have flesh to give unto all this people for they weep unto me saying Give us flesh that we may eat 14 I am not able to bear all this people alone because it is too heavy for me 15 And if thou deal thus with me kill me I pray thee out of hand if I have found favour in thy sight and let me not see my wretchedness 16 ¶ And the LORD said unto Moses Gather unto me seventy men of the elders of Israel whom thou knowest to be the elders of the people and officers over them and bring them unto the tabernacle of the congregation that they may stand there with thee 17 And I will come down and talk with thee there and I will take of the spirit which is upon thee and will put it upon them and they shall bear the burden of the people with thee that thou bear it not thy self alone 18 And say thou unto the people Sanctifie your selves against to morrow and ye shall eat flesh for you have wept in the ears of the LORD saying Who shall give us flesh to east for it was well with us in Egypt therefore the LORD will give you flesh and ye shall eat 19 Ye shall not eat one day nor two days nor five days neither ten days nor twenty days 20 But even a †Heb. moneth of days whole moneth until it come out at your nostrils and it be lothsom unto you because that ye have despised the LORD which is among you and have wept before him saying Why came we forth out of Egypt 21 And Moses said The people amongst whom I am are six hundred thousand footmen and thou hast said I will give them flesh that they may eat a whole moneth 22 Shall the flocks and the herds be slain for them to suffice them or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them to suffice them 23 And the LORD said unto Moses * Isa 50.2 and 59.1 Is the LORDS hand waxed short thou shalt see now whether my word shall come to pass unto thee or not 24 ¶ And Moses went out told the people the words of the LORD and gathered the seventy men of the elders of the people and set them round about the tabernacle 25 And the LORD came down in a cloud and spake unto him and took of the spirit that was upon him and gave it unto the seventy elders and it came to pass that when the spirit rested upon them they prophesied and did not cease 26 But there remained two of the men in the camp the name of the one was Eldad and the name of the other Medad and the spirit rested upon them and they were of them that were written but went not out unto the tabernacle and they prophesied in the camp 27 And there ran a young man and told Moses and said Eldad and Medad do prophesie in the camp 28 And Joshua the son of Nun the servant of Moses one of his young men answered and said My lord
him that †Heb. doeth sinneth through ignorance both for him that is born amongst the children of Israel and for the stranger that sojourneth among them 30 ¶ But the soul that doeth ought †Heb. with an high hand presumptuously whether he be born in the land or a stranger the same reproacheth the LORD and that soul shall be cut off from among his people 31 Because he hath despised the word of the LORD and hath broken his commandment that soul shall utterly be cut off his iniquity shall be upon him 32 ¶ And while the children of Israel were in the wilderness they found a man that gathered sticks upon the sabbath-day 33 And they that found him gathering sticks brought him unto Moses and Aaron and unto all the congregation 34 And they put him * Lev. 24.12 in ward because it was not declared what should be done to him 35 And the LORD said unto Moses The man shall be surely put to death all the congregation shall stone him with stones without the camp 36 And all the congregation brought him without the camp and stoned him with stones and he died as the LORD commanded Moses 37 ¶ And the LORD spake unto Moses saying 38 Speak unto the children of Israel and bid * Deut. 22.12 Mat. 23.5 them that they make them fringes in the borders of their garments throughout their generations and that they put upon the fringe of the borders a ribband of blue 39 And it shall be unto you for a fringe that ye may look upon it and remember all the commandments of the LORD and do them and that ye seek not after your own heart and your own eyes after which ye use to go a whoring 40 That ye may remember and do all my commandments and be holy unto your God 41 I am the LORD your God which brought you out of the land of Egypt to be your God I am the LORD your God CHAP. XVI 1 The rebellion of Korah Dathan and Abiram 23 Moses separateth the people from the rebels tents 31 The earth swalloweth up Korah and a fire consumeth others 36 The censers are reserved to holy use 41 Fourteen thousand and seven hundred are slain by a plague for murmuring against Moses and Aaron 46 Aaron by incense stayeth the plague NOw * Ch. 27.3 Ecclus 45.18 Jude 11. Korah the son of Izhar the son of Kohath the son of Levi and Dathan and Abiram the sons of Eliab and On the son of Peleth sons of Reuben took men 2 And they rose up before Moses with certain of the children of Israel two hundred and fifty princes of the assembly * Ch. 26.9 famous in the congregation men of renown 3 And they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron and said unto them †Heb. It is much for you Ye take too much upon you seeing all the congregation are holy everyone of them and the LORD is among them wherefore then lift you up your selves above the congregation of the LORD 4 And when Moses heard it he fell upon his face 5 And he spake unto Korah and unto all his company saying Even to morrow the LORD will shew who are his and who is holy and will cause him to come near unto him even him whom he hath chosen will he cause to come near unto him 6 This do take you censers Korah and all his company 7 And put fire therein and put incense in them before the LORD to morrow and it shall be that the man whom the LORD doth choose he shall be holy ye take too much upon you ye sons of Levi. 8 And Moses said unto Korah Hear I pray you ye sons of Levi 9 Seemeth it but a small thing unto you that the God of Israel hath separated you from the congregation of Israel to bring you near to himself to do the service of the tabernacle of the LORD and to stand before the congregation to minister unto them 10 And he hath brought thee near to him and all thy brethren the sons of Levi with thee and seek ye the priesthood also 11 For which cause both thou and all thy company are gathered together against the LORD and what is Aaron that ye murmure against him 12 ¶ And Moses sent to call Dathan and Abiram the sons of Eliab which said We will not come up 13 Is it a small thing that thou hast brought us up out of a land that floweth with milk and honey to kill us in the wilderness except thou make thy self altogether a prince over us 14 Moreover thou hast not brought us into a land that floweth with milk and honey or given us inheritance of fields and vineyards wilt thou †Heb. here out put out the eyes of these men we will not come up 15 And Moses was very wroth and said unto the LORD * Gen. 4 4. Respect not thou their offering I have not taken one ass from them neither have I hurt one of them 16 And Moses said unto Korah Be thou and all thy company before the LORD thou and they and Aaron to morrow 17 And take every man his censer and put incense in them and bring ye before the LORD every man his censer two hundred and fifty censers thou also and Aaron each of you his censer 18 And they took every man his censer and put fire in them and said incense thereon and stood in the door of the tabernacle of the congregation with Moses and Aaron 19 And Korah gathered all the congregation against them unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation and the glory of the LORD appeared unto all the congregation 20 And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron saying 21 Separate your selves from among this congregation that I may consume them in a moment 22 And they fell upon their faces and said O God the God of the spirits of all flesh shall one man sin and wilt thou be wroth with all the congregation 23 ¶ And the LORD spake unto Moses saying 24 Speak unto the congregation saying Get you up from about the taberlacle of Korah Dathan and Abiram 25 And Moses rose up and went unto Dathan and Abiram and the elders of Israel followed him 26 And he spake unto the congregation saying Depart I pray you from the tents of these wicked men and touch nothing of theirs lest ye be consumed in all their sins 27 So they gat up from the tabernacle of Korah Dathan and Abiram on every side and Dathan and Abiram came out and stood in the door of their tents and their wives and their sons and their little children 28 And Moses said Hereby ye shall know that the LORD hath sent me to do all these works for I have not done them of mine own minde 29 If these men die †Heb. as every man dieth the common death of all men or if they be visited after the visitation of all men then
the army of Assur and behold the canopy wherein he did lie in his drunkenness and the Lord hath smitten him by the hand of a woman 16 As the Lord liveth who hath kept me in my way that I went my countenance hath deceived him to his destruction and yet hath he not committed sin with me to defile and shame me 17 Then all the people were wonderfully astonished and bowed themselves and worshipped God and said with one accord Blessed be thou O our God which hast this day brought to nought the enemies of thy people 18 Then said Ozias unto her O daughter blessed art thou of the most high God above all the women upon the earth and blessed be the Lord God which hath created the heavens and the earth which hath directed thee to the cutting off of the head of the chief of our enemies 19 For this thy confidence shall not depart from the heart of men which remember the power of God for ever 20 And God turn these things to thee for a perpetual praise to visit thee in good things because thou hast not spared thy life for the affliction of our nation but hast revenged our ruine walking a straight way before our God And all the people said So be it so be it CHAP. XIV 8 Achior heareth Judith shew what she had done and is cirâ—umcised 11 The bead of Holofernes is hanged up 15 He as found dead and much lamented THen said Judith unto them Hear me now my brethren and take this * 2 Mac. 15.35 head and hang it upon the highest place of your walls 2 And so soon as the morning shall appear and the sun shall come forth upon the earth take you every one his weapons and go forth every valiant man out of the city and set you a captain over them as though you would go down into the field toward the watch of the Assyrians but go not down 3 Then they shall take their armour and shall go into their camp and raise up the captains of the army of Assur and they shall run to the tent of Holofernes but shall not finde him then fear shall fall upon them and they shall flee before your face 4 So you and all that inhabit the coast of Israel shall pursue them and overthrow them as they go 5 But before you do these things call me Achior the Ammonite that he may see and know him that despised the house of Israel and that sent him to us as it were to his death 6 Then they called Achior out of the house of Ozias and when he was come and saw the head of Holofernes in a mans hand in the assembly of the people he fell down on his face and his spirit failed 7 But when they had recovered him he fell at Judiths feet and reverenced heâ— and said Blessed art thou in all the tabernacle of Juda and in all nations which hearing thy name shall be astonished 8 Now therefore tell me all the things that then hast done in these days Then Judith declared unto him in the midst of the people all that she had done from the day that she went forth until that hour she spake unto them 9 And when she had left off speaking the people shouted with a loud voice and made a joyful noise in their city 10 And when Achior had seen all that the God of Israel had done he beleeved in God greatly and circumcised the flesh of his fore-skin and was joyned unto the house of Israel unto this day 11 And assoon as the morning arose they hanged the head of Holofernes upon the wall and every man took his weapons and they went forth by bands unto the ‖ Or â—sâ—â—es straits of the mountain 12 But when the Assyrians saw them they sent to their leaders which came to their captains and tribunes and to every one of their rulers 13 So they came to Holofernes tent and said to him that had the charge of all his things Waken now our lord for the slaves have been bold to come down against us to battel that they may be utterly destroyed 14 Then went in Bagoas and knocked at the door of the tent for he thought that he had slept with Judith 15 But because none answered he opened it and went into the bed-chamber and found him cast upon the floor dead and his head was taken from him 16 ‖ Then Therefore he cried with a loud voice with weeping and sighing and a mighty cry and rent his garments 17 After he went into the tent where Judith lodged and when he found her not he leaped out to the people and cried 18 These slaves have dealt treacherously one woman of the Hebrews hath brought shame upon the house of king Nabuchodonolor for behold Holofernes lieth upon the ground without a head 19 When the captains of the Assyrians army heard these words they rent their coats and their minds were wonderfully troubled and there was a cry and a very great noise throughout the camp CHAP. XV. 1 The Assyrians are chased and slain 8 The high priest cometh to see Judith 11 The stuff of Holofernes is given to Judith 13 The women crown her with a garland ANd when they that were in the tents heard they were astonished at the thing that was done 2 And fear and trembling fell upon them so that there was no man that durst abide in the sight of his neighbour but rushing out altogether they fled into every way of the plain and of the hill-countrey 3 They also that had camped in the mountains round about Bethulia fled away Then the children of Israel every one that was a warriour among them rushed out upon them 4 Then sent Oziaâ— to Betomasthem and to Bebai and Chobai and Cola and to all the coasts of Israel such as should tell the things that were done and that all should rush forth upon their enemies to destroy them 5 Now when the children of Israel heard it they all fell upon them with one consent and slew them unto Chobai likewise also they that came from Jerusalem and from all the hill-countrey for men had told them what things were done in the camp of their enemies and they that were in Galaad and in Galilee ‖ Or â—â—â—ams chased them with a great slaughter until they were past Damascus and the borders thereof 6 And the residue that dwelt at Bethulia fell upon the camp of Assur and spoiled them and were greatly enriched 7 And the children of Israel that returned from the slaughter had that which remained and the villages and the cities that were in the mountains and in the plain gat many spoils for the multitude was very great 8 Then Joacim the high pâ—â—â—st and the ancients of the children of Israel that dwelt in Jerusalem came to behold the good things that God had shewed to Israel and to see Judith and to salute her 9 And when they came unto her they blessed her with
