rest_n &_o happiness_n for_o if_o the_o spirit_n of_o man_n have_v not_o some_o sovereign_a spirit_n to_o give_v it_o eternal_a bliss_n than_o be_v miserable_a man_n shut_v up_o unto_o this_o present_a life_n as_o unto_o his_o sovereign_a good_a into_o which_o a_o wise_a &_o good_a man_n will_v never_o re-enter_v if_o he_o be_v once_o well_o discharge_v of_o it_o let_v we_o then_o seek_v a_o god_n high_a than_o these_o visible_a thing_n and_o a_o happiness_n high_o than_o these_o miserable_a thing_n and_o let_v we_o not_o reason_n with_o the_o brutish_a sensualist_n he_o be_v not_o a_o god_n who_o we_o can_v see_v with_o our_o eye_n but_o let_v we_o say_v with_o the_o soul_n enlighten_v he_o be_v fit_a to_o be_v a_o god_n who_o pureness_n do_v excel_v the_o gross_a capacity_n of_o bodily_a sense_n for_o the_o pure_a the_o essence_n be_v the_o more_o fit_a to_o be_v a_o god_n and_o the_o more_o pure_a the_o more_o invisible_a to_o a_o gross_a and_o carnal_a sight_n let_v we_o therefore_o believe_v the_o creator_n to_o be_v a_o most_o clear_a lightsome_a and_o glorious_a spirit_n and_o to_o be_v see_v only_o by_o spirit_n and_o body_n sublimate_v into_o a_o spiritual_a kind_n of_o be_v this_o glorious_a &_o eternal_a spirit_n manife_v himself_o to_o our_o apprehension_n in_o three_o person_n the_o print_n and_o impression_n of_o each_o person_n be_v find_v in_o every_o creature_n and_o there_o be_v a_o absolute_a necessity_n that_o every_o one_o of_o the_o three_o shall_v concur_v in_o all_o creation_n the_o first_o in_o order_n of_o consideration_n though_o there_o be_v no_o first_o in_o order_n of_o time_n be_v the_o great_a and_o infinite_a mind_n or_o understanding_n which_o beget_v a_o great_a wisdom_n thought_n or_o word_n even_o the_o first_o and_o radical_a light_n the_o almighty_a begetter_n of_o the_o second_o light_n and_o this_o person_n be_v call_v god_n the_o father_n the_o second_o be_v the_o beget_v &_o second_o light_n even_o the_o wisdom_n &_o conceivement_n of_o the_o mind_n or_o understanding_n a_o image_n &_o issue_n thereof_o and_o this_o person_n be_v call_v god_n the_o son_n the_o three_o be_v the_o virtue_n &_o power_n which_o breathe_v or_o flow_v from_o the_o god_n head_n whereby_o god_n love_v and_o enjoy_v himself_o and_o put_v in_o execution_n whatsoever_o he_o will_v have_v do_v for_o himself_o and_o this_o person_n be_v call_v god_n the_o holy_a ghost_n these_o three_o be_v one_o god_n and_o do_v so_o necessary_o join_v in_o every_o creation_n that_o without_o any_o one_o of_o they_o nothing_o can_v forth_o a_o creation_n to_o himself_o he_o will_v have_v glory_n and_o to_o his_o creature_n happiness_n yea_o this_o happiness_n of_o the_o creature_n shall_v be_v by_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o creator_n so_o in_o the_o glorify_v of_o god_n shall_v man_n and_o angel_n be_v glorify_v but_o on_o the_o contrary_a they_o that_o will_v not_o give_v glory_n to_o god_n shall_v not_o have_v happiness_n to_o themselves_o yet_o though_o unwilling_o shall_v they_o glorify_v he_o by_o serve_v his_o justice_n in_o misery_n who_o will_v not_o serve_v his_o goodness_n in_o felicity_n to_o unity_n as_o the_o cause_n of_o this_o reconciliation_n which_o can_v deserve_v to_o be_v call_v by_o no_o other_o name_n then_o by_o a_o supreme_a and_o sovereign_a name_n and_o such_o a_o name_n be_v god_n again_o the_o infinite_a diversity_n of_o form_n and_o that_o large_a heap_n of_o matter_n neither_o of_o which_o be_v before_o and_o of_o which_o it_o be_v alike_o easy_a to_o the_o creator_n to_o make_v matter_n as_o form_n direct_v our_o eye_n to_o some_o great_a wisdom_n &_o power_n which_o can_v both_o invent_v and_o produce_v they_o yea_o more_fw-it near_o the_o drop_n and_o stream_n of_o wisdom_n pour_v into_o the_o creature_n in_o their_o several_a instinct_n and_o into_o man_n with_o his_o soul_n plain_o confess_v that_o there_o be_v some_o spring_n of_o infinite_a wisdom_n from_o which_o these_o rivulet_n may_v flow_v and_o some_o infinite_a power_n which_o can_v actuate_v they_o into_o the_o creature_n and_o if_o so_o then_o necessary_o must_v we_o also_o allow_v some_o pure_a and_o infinite_a essence_n
year_n more_o perchance_o not_o twenty_o not_o ten_o and_o not_o much_o otherwise_o the_o lawyer_n and_o merchant_n fret_v out_o one_o half_a of_o their_o time_n in_o education_n labour_n and_o adventure_n that_o they_o may_v be_v rich_a the_o other_o half_o yea_o peradventure_o a_o very_a short_a part_n of_o their_o time_n remain_v and_o will_v not_o thou_o spend_v so_o much_o more_o time_n glad_o &_o willing_o in_o expectation_n of_o a_o infinite_a glory_n which_o no_o time_n can_v end_v nor_o measure_n can_v limit_v sure_o a_o endless_a &_o incomparable_a happiness_n be_v well_o worthy_a of_o a_o short_a life_n patience_n and_o expectation_n especial_o when_o the_o same_o life_n be_v so_o often_o wear_v out_o in_o expectation_n oftemporall_a &_o uncertain_a thing_n but_o indeed_o we_o deceive_v ourselves_o in_o this_o matter_n for_o this_o be_v not_o our_o disease_n that_o we_o can_v stay_v but_o that_o we_o do_v not_o very_o see_v and_o believe_v that_o which_o be_v believe_v will_v easy_o give_v we_o a_o patient_a willingness_n to_o stay_v if_o we_o believe_v that_o there_o be_v such_o a_o unmatchable_a felicity_n prepare_v for_o we_o we_o may_v indeed_o somewhat_o eager_o long_a to_o beat_v it_o but_o withal_o the_o assure_a hope_n of_o it_o will_v support_v we_o joyful_o in_o the_o defer_v of_o it_o for_o most_o true_a be_v that_o which_o be_v speak_v of_o hope_n hope_n make_v not_o ashamed_a that_o be_v it_o suffer_v not_o to_o be_v dishearten_v to_o be_v confound_v but_o it_o keep_v up_o the_o heart_n from_o sink_v and_o make_v it_o bear_v up_o in_o trouble_n present_a by_o the_o expectation_n of_o joy_n to_o come_v and_o this_o common_a experience_n show_v we_o in_o worldly_a action_n and_o suffering_n for_o hope_n have_v bear_v out_o mankind_n through_o pain_n almost_o intolerable_a unto_o comfort_n steadfast_o see_v &_o apprehend_v by_o it_o wherefore_o do_v not_o make_v a_o fault_n of_o the_o futurenesse_n of_o thy_o happiness_n but_o find_v and_o amend_v the_o true_a fault_n of_o thy_o belief_n &_o hope_n yet_o neither_o be_v we_o altogether_o thrust_v upon_o hope_n but_o even_o in_o this_o life_n have_v we_o some_o fruition_n of_o this_o happiness_n and_o the_o privilege_n thereof_o for_o as_o before_o even_o here_o have_v we_o a_o cranny_n open_v by_o which_o some_o beam_n of_o the_o divine_a glory_n shine_v into_o our_o heart_n &_o give_v we_o a_o glimpse_n of_o that_o whereof_o hereafter_o we_o shall_v have_v a_o full_a enjoy_n they_o that_o have_v have_v but_o such_o flash_n of_o happiness_n have_v be_v ravish_v up_o in_o heavenly_a trance_n far_o above_o the_o world_n and_o have_v as_o much_o despise_v the_o world_n as_o the_o world_n have_v despise_v these_o joy_n they_o have_v cry_v out_o as_o man_n that_o have_v take_v possession_n of_o true_a rest_n and_o felicity_n let_v we_o here_o build_v up_o our_o tabernacle_n sure_o as_o there_o be_v nothing_o more_o comfortable_a to_o the_o bodily_a sight_n then_o behold_v the_o sun_n shine_v in_o his_o glory_n so_o nothing_o can_v be_v more_o comfortable_a to_o the_o sight_n of_o the_o soul_n then_o to_o behold_v the_o sun_n of_o the_o sun_n even_o that_o high_a and_o pure_a light_n which_o shine_v upon_o the_o sun_n and_o all_o other_o thing_n that_o shine_v but_o especial_o on_o spirit_n himself_o be_v a_o spirit_n again_o the_o very_a substance_n of_o the_o spirit_n in_o we_o be_v a_o kind_n of_o heavenly_a oil_n which_o make_v glad_a not_o so_o much_o the_o face_n as_o the_o very_a heart_n of_o man._n it_o have_v in_o it_o a_o taste_n and_o relish_v of_o the_o deity_n and_o therefore_o above_o all_o other_o this_o be_v the_o true_a oil_n of_o gladness_n the_o heart_n anoint_v herewith_o as_o it_o find_v a_o light_n to_o guide_v it_o and_o a_o virtue_n move_v it_o to_o good_a and_o free_v it_o from_o the_o slavery_n of_o sin_n so_o also_o it_o feel_v in_o itself_o a_o bless_a rest_n a_o heavenly_a sabbath_n a_o joy_n glorious_a and_o unspeakable_a a_o harmony_n &_o peace_n with_o god_n which_o pass_v all_o understanding_n hence_o come_v those_o vehement_a pang_n and_o expression_n of_o love_n &_o joy_n utter_v by_o the_o spouse_n of_o christ_n and_o pen_v by_o the_o wise_a of_o man_n which_o flesh_n know_v not_o how_o to_o understand_v but_o by_o the_o flesh_n but_o the_o spiritual_a man_n that_o far_o below_o the_o satisfaction_n of_o lust_n and_o concupiscence_n and_o from_o this_o union_n &_o the_o feel_n of_o this_o union_n proceed_v both_o that_o strength_n of_o christian_n that_o the_o gate_n of_o hell_n can_v prevail_v against_o they_o and_o that_o strong_a confidence_n that_o if_o god_n kill_v they_o yet_o they_o will_v trust_v in_o he_o and_o why_o they_o be_v assure_v that_o they_o for_o he_o that_o be_v in_o we_o be_v strong_a than_o he_o or_o all_o they_o that_o be_v in_o the_o world_n to_o this_o union_n with_o god_n we_o may_v add_v another_o union_n with_o the_o son_n of_o god_n the_o first_o be_v the_o union_n of_o a_o father_n and_o a_o child_n and_o this_o be_v a_o union_n of_o brethren_n for_o it_o be_v a_o spiritual_a brotherhood_n every_o son_n of_o god_n have_v all_o god_n son_n to_o his_o brother_n and_o as_o many_o brother_n so_o many_o friend_n so_o many_o lover_n so_o many_o helper_n so_o many_o that_o rejoice_v in_o his_o comfort_n so_o many_o that_o bewail_v his_o trouble_n so_o many_o to_o encourage_v he_o stand_v so_o many_o to_o raise_v he_o be_v fall_v so_o many_o to_o advise_v he_o in_o doubt_n so_o many_o to_o relieve_v he_o in_o necessity_n in_o sum_n the_o true_a child_n of_o god_n ever_o be_v and_o still_o be_v of_o one_o heart_n and_o mind_n love_v and_o belove_a they_o account_v themselves_o as_o one_o &_o therefore_o no_o part_n of_o this_o unity_n can_v lack_v what_o the_o other_o part_n thereof_o enjoy_v he_o that_o be_v a_o son_n have_v in_o he_o this_o love_n and_o he_o that_o have_v not_o this_o love_n in_o he_o be_v not_o a_o son_n for_o he_o must_v needs_o love_v his_o spiritual_a kindred_n who_o be_v spiritual_o beget_v he_o must_v needs_o love_v they_o because_o of_o unity_n because_o of_o uniformity_n because_o of_o purity_n and_o because_o the_o spirit_n which_o beget_v he_o be_v the_o spirit_n of_o love._n and_o as_o we_o have_v a_o interest_n in_o our_o brethren_n so_o have_v we_o in_o their_o prayer_n they_o still_o commend_v we_o to_o god_n and_o many_o time_n when_o our_o own_o deadness_n of_o heart_n do_v slack_v the_o hand_n of_o god_n towards_o we_o their_o fervency_n
do_v cause_v his_o countenance_n to_o shine_v favourable_o on_o us._n final_o if_o the_o name_n of_o friendship_n be_v sweet_a if_o love_n on_o earth_n be_v a_o chief_a comfort_n and_o again_o if_o the_o friendship_n and_o love_n of_o good_a man_n of_o man_n wise_a in_o the_o chief_a wisdom_n of_o man_n true_a &_o single_a in_o heart_n be_v the_o eminence_n of_o this_o eminent_a comfort_n then_o have_v we_o all_o this_o in_o the_o saint_n and_o son_n of_o god_n for_o these_o be_v our_o friend_n unto_o the_o death_n yea_o after_o death_n their_o love_n be_v more_o equal_a &_o stable_a than_o the_o love_n of_o woman_n for_o goodness_n they_o be_v the_o salt_n of_o the_o world_n and_o without_o they_o the_o world_n be_v unsavourie_a for_o wisdom_n they_o have_v that_o chief_a wisdom_n which_o be_v to_o know_v and_o obtain_v the_o sovereign_a good_a and_o for_o truth_n they_o have_v that_o sincerity_n of_o heart_n which_o may_v give_v rest_n to_o the_o heart_n that_o put_v confidence_n in_o they_o wherefore_o if_o it_o be_v a_o special_a addition_n in_o match_n to_o match_v into_o a_o good_a family_n let_v we_o know_v that_o in_o our_o marriage_n with_o our_o saviour_n we_o match_n into_o the_o best_a family_n in_o the_o world_n the_o family_n of_o saint_n even_o a_o household_n of_o love_n of_o faith_n of_o holiness_n and_o of_o happiness_n beside_o by_o our_o union_n with_o christ_n we_o have_v a_o new_a right_n in_o the_o creature_n we_o be_v disinherit_v by_o the_o fault_n of_o our_o first_o parent_n and_o no_o part_n of_o our_o father_n good_n belong_v unto_o we_o so_o the_o use_n of_o god_n creature_n be_v a_o very_a robbery_n of_o god_n for_o it_o carry_v a_o mere_a absurdity_n that_o they_o who_o life_n be_v a_o continual_a enmity_n against_o god_n shall_v preserve_v the_o same_o wicked_a life_n by_o the_o benefit_n of_o god._n therefore_o the_o despiser_n of_o god_n have_v no_o title_n in_o regard_n of_o god_n to_o the_o creature_n of_o god_n and_o though_o in_o regard_n of_o man_n they_o may_v seem_v to_o have_v a_o property_n in_o they_o it_o be_v not_o in_o the_o judgement_n of_o man_n to_o define_v who_o be_v not_o and_o shall_v revenue_n of_o the_o wicked_a can_v yield_v to_o their_o unfaithful_a &_o ungrounded_a conscience_n and_o no_o marvel_v for_o they_o take_v the_o good_n without_o the_o leave_n of_o the_o owner_n and_o transport_v they_o to_o the_o service_n of_o his_o enemy_n fleshly_a lust_n and_o a_o adversary_n angel_n and_o what_o shall_v the_o lord_n of_o these_o thing_n do_v when_o he_o come_v to_o judgement_n he_o must_v needs_o render_v vengeance_n in_o flame_a fire_n to_o these_o that_o have_v rob_v he_o of_o his_o creature_n and_o of_o the_o service_n and_o glory_n due_a by_o they_o but_o who_o power_n reseve_v he_o be_v oppress_v and_o who_o bounty_n score_v up_o all_o his_o adventure_n and_o suffering_n unto_o a_o final_a reward_n and_o this_o reward_n be_v of_o such_o a_o glory_n
