so_o much_o as_o subservient_o a_o covenant_n of_o faith_n for_o if_o it_o have_v the_o apostle_n will_v never_o have_v describe_v it_o as_o have_v be_v now_o declare_v §_o 4._o and_o it_o be_v in_o vain_a to_o say_v that_o the_o law_n be_v a_o covenant_n of_o faith_n though_o propund_v in_o a_o more_o dark_a way_n and_o in_o a_o manner_n fit_v for_o the_o state_n of_o that_o people_n and_o that_o present_a time_n and_o condition_n of_o the_o church_n as_o mr._n sedgwick_n speak_v for_o the_o apostle_n express_o affirm_v that_o the_o law_n be_v not_o of_o faith_n it_o be_v not_o of_o faith_n absolute_o not_o comparative_o but_o the_o man_n that_o do_v they_o shall_v live_v in_o they_o gal._n 3._o 12._o the_o law_n therefore_o be_v no_o other_o than_o a_o covenant_n of_o work_n since_o not_o only_o the_o apostle_n do_v here_o assure_v we_o that_o it_o be_v not_o of_o faith_n but_o also_o the_o same_o rule_n do_v this_o and_o live_v be_v that_o still_o retain_v therein_o as_o at_o first_o and_o it_o be_v therefore_o different_a from_o the_o covenant_n of_o faith_n not_o bare_o in_o respect_n of_o the_o degree_n or_o clearness_n of_o the_o revelation_n of_o gospel-grace_n glimpse_n of_o light_n or_o comfort_n the_o law_n therefore_o differ_v from_o the_o covenant_n of_o faith_n specifical_o in_o respect_n of_o the_o whole_a nature_n or_o essence_n of_o it_o in_o which_o respect_n the_o law_n can_v never_o be_v appoint_v as_o a_o schoolmaster_n to_o bring_v we_o to_o christ_n well_o it_o may_v convince_v we_o of_o our_o necessity_n of_o he_o but_o bring_v we_o can_v never_o find_v a_o justify_n righteousness_n by_o the_o law_n or_o by_o the_o work_v of_o it_o from_o hence_o it_o inevitable_o follow_v that_o it_o can_v not_o be_v a_o covenant_n of_o faith_n sure_a it_o be_v that_o the_o covenant_n of_o faith_n justify_v all_o that_o be_v under_o it_o for_o be_v justify_v by_o faith_n we_o have_v peace_n with_o god_n etc._n etc._n rom._n 5._o 1._o that_o covenant_n therefore_o that_o can_v never_o justify_v any_o that_o be_v under_o it_o can_v never_o be_v a_o covenant_n of_o faith_n but_o the_o scripture_n be_v express_a that_o by_o the_o deed_n of_o
