that_o when_o we_o do_v draw_v nigh_o to_o god_n we_o shall_v take_v heed_n to_o ourselves_o that_o we_o sanctify_v god_n name_n 3_o if_o we_o do_v not_o sanctify_v god_n name_n in_o our_o drawing_n nigh_o to_o he_o then_o certain_o god_n will_v sanctify_v his_o own_o name_n upon_o we_o these_o be_v the_o three_o point_n that_o i_o intend_v to_o handle_v and_o especial_o the_o second_o to_o handle_v large_o among_o you_o i_o confess_v upon_o another_o occasion_n in_o one_o sermon_n i_o have_v speak_v out_o of_o these_o word_n but_o now_o i_o intend_v not_o only_o in_o general_n to_o show_v you_o how_o you_o shall_v sanctify_v god_n name_n in_o worship_n but_o likewise_o in_o the_o particular_a act_n of_o worship_n as_o sanctify_v his_o name_n in_o prayer_n in_o receive_v the_o sacrament_n in_o hear_v the_o word_n in_o the_o several_a chief_a part_n of_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n how_o his_o name_n shall_v be_v sanctify_v for_o in_o all_o these_o you_o do_v draw_v night_n to_o god_n and_o for_o that_o end_n i_o have_v pitch_v my_o thought_n upon_o this_o scripture_n but_o before_o i_o come_v to_o these_o three_o great_a point_n that_o be_v the_o principal_a point_n in_o the_o word_n read_v unto_o you_o i_o shall_v take_v up_o divers_a other_o note_n of_o observation_n that_o lie_v up_o and_o down_o as_o it_o be_v scatter_v that_o be_v of_o great_a use_n and_o will_v help_v we_o further_a to_o make_v use_n of_o this_o scripture_n in_o the_o other_o point_n that_o i_o shall_v come_v to_o afterward_o and_o handle_v more_o large_o the_o first_o note_n be_v this_o that_o in_o god_n worship_n there_o must_v be_v nothing_o tender_v up_o to_o god_n but_o what_o he_o have_v command_v whatsoever_o we_o meddle_v with_o in_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n it_o must_v be_v what_o we_o have_v a_o warrant_n for_o out_o of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n for_o this_o speech_n of_o moses_n be_v upon_o occasion_n of_o the_o judgement_n of_o god_n upon_o aaron_n son_n for_o offer_v strange_a fire_n they_o offer_v fire_n that_o god_n have_v not_o command_v hence_o i_o say_v that_o all_o thing_n in_o god_n worship_n must_v have_v a_o warrant_v out_o of_o god_n word_n must_v be_v command_v it_o be_v not_o enough_o that_o it_o be_v not_o forbid_v i_o beseech_v you_o observe_v it_o it_o be_v not_o enough_o that_o a_o thing_n be_v not_o forbid_v and_o what_o hurt_n be_v there_o in_o it_o but_o it_o must_v be_v command_v i_o confess_v in_o matter_n that_o be_v civil_a and_o natural_a there_o this_o may_v be_v enough_o if_o it_o be_v but_o according_a to_o the_o rule_n of_o prudence_n and_o not_o forbid_v in_o the_o word_n we_o may_v make_v use_n of_o this_o in_o civil_a and_o natural_a thing_n but_o now_o when_o we_o come_v to_o matter_n of_o religion_n and_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n we_o must_v either_o
carry_v forth_o the_o filthiness_n out_o of_o our_o heart_n so_o as_o to_o be_v fit_a for_o a_o duty_n and_o in_o job_n 11._o 13_o 14._o if_o thou_o prepare_v thy_o heart_n and_o stretch_v out_o thy_o hand_n towards_o he_o what_o then_o if_o iniquity_n be_v in_o thy_o hand_n put_v it_o far_o away_o and_o let_v not_o wickedness_n dwell_v in_o thy_o tabernacle_n these_o two_o must_v be_v together_o 3._o a_o three_o thing_n be_v this_o the_o preparation_n of_o the_o heart_n it_o be_v the_o disintangling_a of_o the_o heart_n from_o the_o world_n and_o from_o all_o occasion_n and_o business_n in_o the_o world_n i_o be_o to_o worship_n god_n but_o how_o be_v my_o heart_n ensnare_v and_o entangle_v in_o this_o and_o the_o othere_o business_n now_o when_o i_o come_v to_o worship_n god_n i_o must_v lay_v aside_o all_o for_o there_o be_v the_o preparation_n of_o the_o heart_n the_o separate_n of_o it_o for_o such_o a_o work_n for_o that_o be_v the_o nature_n of_o sanctification_n the_o separate_n of_o a_o thing_n from_o a_o common_a use_n i_o be_o to_o worship_n god_n now_o i_o must_v labour_v to_o separate_v my_o heart_n from_o a_o common_a use_n at_o other_o time_n god_n give_v i_o liberty_n to_o let_v out_o my_o heart_n to_o common_a use_n but_o now_o when_o i_o come_v to_o worship_v he_o i_o must_v separate_v my_o heart_n from_o all_o common_a use_n that_o my_o heart_n may_v be_v whole_o for_o god_n i_o remember_v it_o be_v say_v in_o the_o story_n of_o sicily_n which_o be_v lord_n treasurer_n that_o when_o he_o go_v to_o read_v he_o will_v lay_v his_o gown_n off_o and_o say_v lie_v there_o lord_n sicily_n so_o when_o we_o go_v to_o duty_n we_o shall_v say_v lie_v by_o world_n and_o by_o lay_v aside_o the_o world_n i_o mean_v lay_v aside_o of_o all_o household_n affair_n or_o affair_n in_o trade_n etc._n etc._n i_o must_v be_v as_o one_o that_o have_v nothing_o to_o do_v in_o the_o world_n for_o that_o time_n it_o be_v true_a the_o time_n can_v be_v say_v to_o be_v holy_a for_o this_o as_o the_o time_n of_o the_o sabbath_n day_n be_v holy_a you_o will_v say_v why_o may_v not_o any_o time_n be_v say_v to_o be_v holy_a that_o i_o spend_v in_o holy_a duty_n no_o that_o be_v not_o enough_o to_o make_v time_n holy_a for_o the_o time_n that_o god_n make_v holy_a it_o be_v not_o holy_a because_o of_o the_o duty_n that_o i_o perform_v in_o it_o but_o the_o duty_n that_o i_o perform_v then_o be_v more_o acceptable_a because_o they_o be_v do_v in_o such_o a_o time_n and_o so_o that_o make_v a_o place_n holy_a not_o because_o it_o be_v appoint_v for_o holy_a duty_n and_o use_n but_o because_o it_o be_v so_o appoint_v by_o god_n and_o the_o perform_v a_o duty_n in_o that_o place_n be_v more_o acceptable_a to_o god_n than_o in_o another_o place_n but_o now_o though_o we_o can_v make_v our_o time_n holy_a in_o that_o second_o sense_n yet_o in_o the_o first_o it_o be_v time_n set_v apart_o for_o a_o holy_a use_n and_o in_o that_o regard_n it_o be_v holy_a and_o so_o we_o shall_v look_v upon_o it_o as_o not_o to_o have_v our_o outward_a business_n to_o devour_v that_o time_n that_o be_v holy_a in_o that_o regard_n as_o nehemiah_n when_o tobiah_n and_o sanballat_n send_v to_o he_o to_o come_v and_o confer_v with_o they_o no_o say_v he_o i_o can_v go_v for_o the_o work_n be_v great_a that_o i_o have_v to_o do_v so_o we_o must_v not_o entangle_v ourselves_o to_o meddle_v with_o other_o thing_n when_o we_o be_v to_o come_v to_o worship_n god_n for_o our_o work_n be_v great_a the_o four_o thing_n for_o preparation_n be_v to_z watch_z and_o to_o pray_v we_o shall_v watch_v over_o our_o heart_n lest_o they_o be_v make_v unfit_a for_o duty_n so_o we_o shall_v prepare_v for_o prayer_n all_o day_n long_o in_o this_o sense_n that_o be_v we_o shall_v watch_v over_o our_o heart_n that_o they_o be_v not_o let_v out_o so_o far_o as_o to_o hinder_v we_o in_o prayer_n when_o we_o come_v to_o do_v it_o i_o remember_v that_o tertullian_n say_v that_o the_o christian_n do_v so_o sup_v as_o if_o they_o be_v to_o pray_v so_o when_o thou_o be_v in_o company_n thou_o shall_v watch_v unto_o prayer_n oh_o that_o you_o do_v so_o you_o can_v but_o be_v conscious_a to_o yourselves_o that_o oftentimes_o when_o you_o have_v be_v in_o company_n your_o heart_n have_v be_v put_v out_o of_o tune_n and_o frame_v that_o you_o have_v be_v no_o way_n fit_a for_o prayer_n when_o you_o come_v home_o your_o house_n and_o family_n find_v it_o so_o you_o that_o take_v such_o delight_n in_o company_n and_o sit_v up_o late_o i_o appeal_v to_o your_o conscience_n whether_o you_o can_v come_v home_o and_o find_v yourselves_o fit_a either_o in_o your_o family_n or_o closet_n to_o go_v and_o open_v you_o heart_n to_o god_n this_o be_v one_o note_v by_o the_o way_n whereby_o you_o may_v come_v to_o know_v whether_o you_o have_v be_v immoderate_a in_o company_n at_o any_o time_n god_n give_v not_o man_n liberty_n to_o be_v busy_a in_o any_o outward_a occasion_n so_o as_o to_o unfit_a they_o for_o his_o service_n preparation_n consist_v in_o that_o in_o watch_v over_o your_o heart_n that_o you_o may_v not_o be_v unfit_a for_o any_o holy_a duty_n when_o god_n call_v you_o to_o it_o but_o that_o you_o may_v be_v ready_a even_o to_o every_o good_a work_n the_o five_o note_n be_v this_o preparation_n consist_v in_o the_o readiness_n of_o the_o faculty_n of_o the_o soul_n and_o the_o grace_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n '_o present_o to_o act_v upon_o the_o set_n upon_o a_o holy_a duty_n when_o a_o man_n or_o woman_n shall_v find_v the_o faculty_n of_o their_o soul_n and_o the_o grace_n that_o be_v in_o they_o to_o be_v ready_a to_o act_v assoon_o as_o ever_o they_o fall_v upon_o duty_n just_o as_o you_o see_v a_o company_n of_o ringer_n when_o they_o have_v make_v all_o preparation_n for_o the_o raise_n of_o the_o bell_n then_o in_o a_o instant_n when_o thy_o begin_v to_o pull_v all_o the_o bell_n go_v in_o that_o tune_n that_o according_a to_o their_o skill_n they_o set_v they_o in_o and_o so_o it_o shall_v be_v with_o our_o heart_n the_o faculty_n of_o our_o soul_n and_o grace_n though_o now_o we_o be_v not_o upon_o duty_n yet_o we_o shall_v be_v so_o ready_a that_o as_o it_o be_v upon_o a_o pull_n all_o the_o faculty_n of_o our_o soul_n and_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n spirit_n shall_v work_v in_o a_o melodious_a way_n there_o be_v those_o that_o keep_v their_o heart_n so_o prepare_v as_o at_o the_o very_a first_o moment_n that_o they_o set_v about_o the_o duty_n of_o worship_n all_o faculty_n and_o grace_n begin_v to_o act_v and_o stir_v and_o be_v work_v towards_o god_n as_o a_o fire_n when_o all_o the_o matter_n be_v ready_a lay_v present_o it_o come_v to_o be_v kindle_v and_o flame_n out_o and_o thus_o it_o shall_v be_v with_o our_o heart_n so_o that_o now_o you_o see_v wherein_o preparation_n of_o our_o heart_n to_o duty_n consist_v the_o next_o thing_n be_v the_o excellency_n of_o this_o preparation_n and_o that_o may_v be_v in_o way_n of_o application_n to_o you_o to_o make_v you_o to_o be_v in_o love_n with_o preparation_n for_o holy_a duty_n there_o be_v abundance_n of_o good_a in_o it_o as_o first_o by_o this_o mean_n we_o come_v to_o make_v every_o duty_n of_o worship_n easy_a to_o we_o thing_n be_v difficult_a when_o we_o come_v upon_o they_o unprepared_a if_o you_o have_v a_o friend_n come_v to_o dinner_n or_o supper_n to_o you_o and_o shall_v come_v sudden_o and_o you_o have_v nothing_o prepare_v there_o will_v be_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o stir_n in_o the_o house_n but_o if_o you_o have_v every_o thing_n prepare_v it_o will_v be_v carry_v on_o in_o a_o easy_a way_n and_o the_o reason_n why_o people_n complain_v so_o much_o of_o difficulty_n in_o duty_n it_o be_v because_o their_o heart_n be_v not_o prepare_v indeed_o we_o have_v natural_o many_o thing_n that_o keep_v we_o off_o from_o god_n but_o when_o the_o heart_n be_v prepare_v for_o a_o holy_a duty_n it_o go_v off_o as_o easy_a to_o god_n even_o into_o the_o infinite_a ocean_n of_o all_o mercy_n and_o goodness_n as_o a_o ship_n go_v off_o to_o be_v launch_v when_o you_o have_v make_v preparation_n for_o it_o so_o the_o heart_n can_v go_v with_o a_o holy_a holdness_n to_o god_n when_o you_o have_v make_v preparation_n for_o holy_a duty_n in_o job_n 11._o the_o place_n which_o i_o quote_v before_o for_o the_o work_n of_o preparation_n do_v but_o consider_v a_o verse_n or_o two_o further_a and_o you_o shall_v find_v what_o abundance_n of_o good_a there_o come_v upon_o the_o keep_n of_o
open_v this_o point_n full_o will_v ask_v some_o time_n first_o therefore_o i_o will_v show_v you_o how_o we_o may_v know_v when_o our_o duty_n be_v act_v by_o our_o natural_a part_n rather_o than_o by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n second_o how_o we_o may_v know_v whether_o our_o duty_n be_v act_v by_o natural_a conscience_n rather_o than_o by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n 1._o first_o if_o thou_o be_v act_v by_o natural_a part_n they_o will_v not_o change_v thy_o heart_n man_n that_o do_v perform_v duty_n by_o the_o strength_n of_o natural_a part_n they_o may_v be_v as_o large_a as_o other_o and_o speak_v to_o the_o edification_n of_o other_o but_o those_o duty_n do_v never_o change_v their_o heart_n now_o if_o thou_o be_v act_v by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n thou_o will_v be_v change_v into_o the_o very_a image_n of_o his_o spirit_n 2._o second_o if_o man_n be_v act_v by_o natural_a part_n they_o will_v not_o carry_v they_o through_o difficulty_n and_o discouragement_n but_o now_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n if_o thou_o have_v act_v by_o he_o though_o thou_o do_v meet_v with_o never_o such_o difficulty_n and_o discouragement_n thou_o will_v be_v carry_v through_o they_o all_o 3._o thou_o may_v know_v it_o by_o this_o wherein_o do_v thou_o account_v the_o excellency_n of_o a_o duty_n to_o consist_v either_o in_o thyself_o or_o other_o thou_o perform_v a_o duty_n now_o it_o may_v be_v thy_o part_n do_v act_v very_o lively_a and_o to_o thy_o credit_n and_o yet_o thy_o conscience_n tell_v thou_o that_o thy_o heart_n be_v straighten_v now_o can_v thou_o rise_v up_o with_o joy_n because_o thou_o have_v thy_o end_n at_o another_o time_n perhaps_o thy_o heart_n be_v more_o trouble_v and_o break_v but_o thou_o do_v not_o express_v thyself_o so_o much_o than_o thou_o be_v discourage_v and_o when_o thou_o see_v another_o perform_v a_o duty_n if_o thou_o see_v but_o any_o fail_n in_o their_o expression_n thou_o pitche_v upon_o that_o and_o look_v upon_o it_o as_o a_o poor_a thing_n thou_o be_v not_o able_a to_o see_v a_o excellency_n in_o holy_a duty_n except_o there_o be_v a_o excellency_n of_o natural_a part_n but_o those_o that_o have_v the_o spirit_n of_o god_n they_o can_v find_v the_o spirit_n of_o god_n act_v in_o other_o though_o they_o have_v not_o such_o natural_a part_n 4._o those_o that_o be_v act_v by_o their_o natural_a part_n in_o secret_a they_o be_v less_o enlarge_v than_o they_o be_v before_o other_o a_o great_a deal_n their_o part_n act_n much_o before_o other_o but_o what_o be_v there_o between_o god_n and_o their_o own_o soul_n 5._o they_o that_o be_v so_o act_v will_v not_o be_v very_o constant_a you_o shall_v have_v young_a one_o that_o begin_v to_o look_v towards_o religion_n their_o part_n be_v a_o little_a fresh_a and_o they_o be_v mighty_o enlarge_v in_o holy_a duty_n and_o the_o thing_n be_v good_a for_o they_o to_o make_v use_n of_o their_o part_n but_o how_o ordinary_a it_o be_v that_o after_o a_o few_o year_n they_o be_v dead_a and_o dull_a than_o they_o be_v before_o and_o have_v less_o mind_n to_o the_o duty_n of_o god_n worship_n than_o they_o have_v former_o be_v this_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n you_o will_v find_v as_o much_o savour_n and_o relish_v in_o they_o afterward_o as_o there_o be_v at_o that_o time_n second_o for_o natural_a conscience_n which_o sometime_o put_v man_n upon_o act_v of_o duty_n and_o indeed_o be_v better_a than_o mere_o natural_a part_n 1._o if_o it_o be_v only_o natural_a conscience_n it_o put_v upon_o duty_n but_o give_v no_o strength_n to_o do_v they_o but_o when_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n put_v thou_o upon_o a_o duty_n it_o give_v thou_o some_o strength_n to_o perform_v it_o some_o strength_n whereby_o thou_o get_v some_o communion_n with_o god_n 2._o if_o it_o be_v natural_a conscience_n it_o put_v upon_o the_o duty_n but_o make_v not_o the_o heart_n glad_a of_o the_o duty_n and_o to_o love_v the_o duty_n but_o if_o it_o be_v the_o spirit_n of_o god_n it_o make_v thou_o to_o delight_v in_o it_o and_o to_o love_v it_o 3._o if_o it_o be_v natural_a conscience_n thou_o do_v not_o by_o that_o increase_n thy_o communion_n with_o god_n thou_o do_v thy_o duty_n as_o in_o a_o round_a but_o now_o when_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n put_v thou_o upon_o holy_a duty_n it_o be_v not_o a_o task_n do_v but_o thou_o find_v more_o and_o more_o increase_n in_o communion_n with_o god_n thy_o heart_n more_o raise_v to_o god_n and_o more_o close_v with_o the_o lord_n and_o so_o still_o more_o and_o more_o in_o the_o course_n of_o thy_o life_n i_o have_v a_o little_a converse_n with_o god_n at_o first_o when_o god_n begin_v to_o acquaint_v my_o soul_n with_o his_o way_n but_o through_o his_o mercy_n now_o i_o find_v more_o communion_n with_o he_o and_o so_o thou_o 〈◊〉_d bless_v thyself_o in_o god_n in_o that_o converse_n that_o thou_o have_v in_o communion_n with_o he_o thou_o will_v not_o lose_v that_o communion_n thou_o have_v with_o god_n in_o holy_a duty_n for_o all_o the_o world_n other_o have_v their_o companion_n that_o they_o have_v their_o communion_n withal_o much_o good_a may_v do_v they_o but_o the_o lord_n have_v show_v i_o another_o manner_n of_o communion_n which_o my_o soul_n can_v have_v with_o himself_o in_o which_o it_o have_v sweet_a satisfaction_n and_o thus_o you_o have_v have_v seven_o particular_n for_o the_o sanctify_a of_o the_o name_n of_o god_n in_o holy_a duty_n sermon_n vi._n 1645._o leviticus_n 10._o 3._o i_o will_v be_v sanctify_v in_o they_o that_o come_v nigh_o i_o 4._o again_o as_o natural_a conscience_n do_v give_v no_o strength_n to_o do_v the_o duty_n so_o it_o make_v not_o the_o duty_n to_o be_v strong_a to_o the_o soul_n that_o be_v thus_o thre_n no_n strength_n get_v by_o the_o duty_n they_o be_v not_o by_o one_o duty_n prepare_v for_o another_o but_o the_o way_n of_o the_o lord_n be_v strength_n to_o the_o upright_a that_o be_v when_o a_o gracious_a heart_n be_v in_o the_o way_n of_o god_n worship_n it_o find_v the_o very_a duty_n of_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n to_o be_v strength_n to_o it_o and_o so_o it_o fit_v it_o for_o another_o duty_n 5._o further_o a_o natural_a conscience_n limit_n its_o self_n and_o be_v bound_v that_o be_v so_o much_o as_o will_v serve_v the_o turn_n for_o its_o own_o peace_n and_o quiet_a so_o much_o it_o will_v do_v and_o no_o more_o but_o when_o one_o be_v act_v by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n one_o be_v enlarge_v without_o any_o limit_n at_o all_o not_o bound_v to_o one_o own_o peace_n for_o the_o more_o peace_n a_o gracious_a heart_n have_v in_o duty_n the_o more_o it_o be_v enlarge_v in_o duty_n now_o a_o natural_a conscience_n that_o put_v to_o duty_n and_o will_v act_v you_o when_o you_o want_v peace_n when_o you_o be_v in_o trouble_n and_o fear_n but_o when_o you_o be_v not_o in_o trouble_n and_o fear_n than_o it_o put_v not_o on_o the_o heart_n to_o performance_n of_o duty_n but_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n put_v on_o the_o soul_n to_o duty_n when_o there_o be_v most_o peace_n and_o comfort_n 6._o a_o little_a will_v serve_v the_o turn_n to_o satisfy_v natural_a conscience_n so_o be_v it_o they_o perform_v the_o duty_n it_o be_v enough_o but_o one_o that_o be_v act_v by_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n in_o duty_n must_v meet_v with_o much_o of_o god_n or_o else_o he_o be_v not_o satisfy_v he_o go_v mourn_v in_o the_o day_n time_n if_o he_o have_v not_o meet_v with_o much_o of_o god_n in_o the_o morning_n in_o the_o performance_n of_o duty_n thus_o you_o see_v there_o be_v much_o difference_n between_o the_o act_n of_o natural_a part_n and_o conscience_n in_o duty_n and_o the_o act_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n there_o be_v only_o now_o two_o thing_n more_o for_o the_o sanctify_a of_o god_n name_n in_o duty_n and_o then_o we_o be_v to_o come_v to_o show_v how_o we_o shall_v sanctify_v god_n name_n in_o duty_n in_o reference_n to_o the_o several_a attribute_n of_o god_n but_o first_o for_o those_o two_o head_n further_n 7._o the_o seven_o thing_n be_v this_o when_o you_o come_v to_o perform_v holy_a duty_n if_o you_o will_v sanctify_v god_n name_n you_o must_v consecrate_v yourselves_o to_o god_n there_o must_v be_v a_o resignation_n of_o soul_n and_o body_n estate_n liberty_n name_n and_o all_o you_o be_v have_v or_o can_v do_v unto_o god_n this_o be_v to_o sanctify_v god_n name_n the_o consecration_n of_o yourselves_o unto_o god_n and_o the_o profess_v of_o this_o be_v the_o performance_n of_o duty_n when_o you_o be_v to_o pray_v be_v a_o very_a good_a thing_n angel_n and_o man_n that_o i_o do_v acknowledge_v that_o the_o lord_n be_v present_a with_o i_o in_o this_o duty_n 4._o four_o consider_v god_n be_v a_o unchangeable_a god_n immutable_a that_o be_v another_o attribute_n of_o god_n he_o be_v unchangeable_a first_o therefore_o our_o heart_n must_v be_v take_v off_o from_o these_o mutable_a thing_n and_o set_v upon_o god_n as_o that_o he_o you_o who_o be_v barren_a in_o your_o meditation_n go_v over_o the_o attribute_n of_o god_n thus_o and_o consider_v what_o you_o may_v be_v able_a to_o draw_v from_o thence_o god_n he_o be_v the_o live_a god_n what_o behaviour_n then_o do_v beseem_v i_o towards_o this_o live_a god_n oh_o let_v i_o be_v afraid_a lest_o my_o soul_n depart_v from_o the_o live_a god_n let_v i_o bring_v a_o live_a service_n to_o he_o i_o must_v not_o bring_v a_o dead_a heart_n let_v i_o take_v heed_n how_o i_o come_v before_o the_o live_a god_n with_o a_o dead_a heart_n and_o with_o a_o dead_a service_n to_o sacrifice_v that_o which_o be_v dead_a before_o it_o come_v it_o be_v like_o a_o carrion_n that_o lie_v dead_a in_o the_o ditch_n oh_o let_v we_o be_v humble_v for_o our_o dead_a heart_n and_o almighty_a and_o so_o be_v first_o to_o fear_v his_o great_a power_n when_o you_o come_v before_o he_o and_o second_o then_o you_o be_v not_o to_o be_v discourage_v by_o any_o difficulty_n i_o come_v to_o seek_v for_o some_o great_a thing_n and_o i_o come_v to_o seek_v to_o a_o great_a god_n that_o have_v all_o power_n in_o heaven_n and_o earth_n and_o infinite_o more_o power_n than_o there_o be_v in_o all_o creature_n in_o heaven_n and_o earth_n i_o be_o pray_v to_o a_o god_n that_o can_v create_v peace_n create_v help_n my_o condition_n can_v be_v so_o desperate_a but_o this_o infinite_a almighty_a god_n be_v able_a to_o help_v i_o let_v i_o make_v he_o the_o object_n of_o my_o faith_n as_o he_o be_v so_o infinite_o almighty_a what_o a_o full_a object_n of_o faith_n be_v this_o god_n that_o have_v all_o power_n in_o he_o let_v i_o therefore_o come_v to_o he_o as_o a_o strong_a tower_n run_v to_o the_o name_n of_o god_n as_o a_o strong_a tower_n that_o can_v help_v in_o all_o straits_n whatsoever_o there_o will_v be_v much_o draw_v forth_o of_o our_o faith_n if_o we_o can_v present_v the_o lord_n before_o we_o as_o a_o infinite_a almighty_a god_n when_o we_o see_v outward_a help_n and_o mean_v near_o at_o hand_n than_o we_o can_v believe_v that_o we_o may_v have_v some_o succour_n from_o he_o but_o when_o all_o outward_a help_n and_o mean_n fail_v then_o we_o be_v discourage_v we_o do_v not_o sanctify_v god_n name_n but_o we_o rather_o take_v this_o name_n of_o god_n in_o vain_a when_o as_o our_o heart_n be_v discourage_v with_o any_o difficulty_n now_o the_o lord_n expect_v that_o all_o his_o child_n that_o come_v to_o worship_v he_o shall_v worship_v he_o as_o the_o almighty_a god_n and_o so_o have_v their_o heart_n work_v towards_o he_o there_o will_v be_v mighty_a work_n of_o spirit_n towards_o god_n if_o we_o see_v he_o by_o the_o eye_n of_o faith_n as_o well_o as_o reason_n 7._o look_v upon_o god_n as_o a_o omniscient_a god_n as_o a_o god_n infinite_o understand_v all_o thing_n now_o what_o do_v this_o call_n for_o first_o if_o god_n be_v a_o god_n of_o infinite_a understanding_n then_o let_v not_o i_o bring_v a_o blind_a content_a to_o other_o these_o be_v poor_a and_o low_a end_n thou_o shall_v come_v to_o hear_v the_o word_n as_o expect_v god_n shall_v speak_v to_o thy_o soul_n for_o the_o furtherance_n of_o thy_o eternal_a good_a but_o your_o conscience_n may_v tell_v you_o what_o vain_a and_o wander_a heart_n you_o have_v when_o you_o come_v to_o hear_v it_o the_o eye_n of_o the_o fool_n say_v solomon_n be_v to_o they_o see_v that_o you_o refuse_v not_o he_o that_o speak_v for_o if_o they_o escape_v not_o who_o refuse_v he_o that_o speak_v on_o earth_n much_o more_o shall_v not_o we_o escape_v if_o we_o turn_v away_o from_o he_o which_o speak_v from_o heaven_n see_v that_o you_o refuse_v not_o he_o that_o speak_v the_o word_n see_v that_o you_o do_v not_o put_v he_o off_o and_o that_o be_v the_o signification_n of_o it_o if_o you_o compare_v it_o with_o luke_n 12._o 18._o you_o shall_v find_v that_o there_o be_v the_o same_o word_n use_v where_o speak_v of_o those_o that_o be_v invite_v to_o some_o other_o that_o do_v yet_o present_v themselves_o before_o you_o and_o then_o you_o lose_v more_o and_o more_o until_o you_o have_v lose_v the_o sight_n of_o all_o all_o truth_n be_v go_v you_o bear_v gall_n and_o wormwood_n and_o it_o come_v to_o pass_v when_o he_o hear_v the_o word_n of_o this_o curse_n that_o he_o bless_v himself_o in_o his_o heart_n say_v i_o shall_v have_v peace_n though_o i_o walk_v in_o the_o imagination_n of_o my_o heart_n etc._n etc._n take_v heed_n there_o be_v not_o among_o you_o a_o root_n that_o bear_v gall_n and_o wormwood_n this_o be_v a_o bitter_a root_n in_o man_n heart_n when_o they_o can_v hear_v the_o word_n of_o god_n and_o have_v their_o heart_n rise_v against_o it_o and_o think_v with_o themselves_o that_o there_o be_v no_o such_o matter_n these_o be_v but_o mere_a word_n but_o mere_a wind_n let_v the_o minister_n say_v what_o he_o will_v and_o talk_v as_o long_o as_o he_o will_v i_o will_v go_v on_o in_o my_o way_n i_o shall_v
