it_o to_o be_v eclipse_v and_o overshadow_a with_o the_o similitude_n of_o sinful_a flesh_n and_o to_o be_v humble_v under_o the_o form_n of_o a_o servant_n even_o as_o the_o brightness_n of_o a_o candle_n be_v hide_v in_o a_o dark_a and_o close_a lantern_n so_o that_o declaratory_o he_o be_v in_o that_o respect_n exalt_v he_o be_v declare_v to_o be_v the_o son_n of_o god_n by_o power_n in_o rise_v from_o the_o dead_a and_o return_v to_o his_o glory_n as_o for_o the_o humane_a nature_n that_o be_v proper_o exalt_v for_o be_v join_v to_o the_o godhead_n it_o have_v a_o ample_a and_o immediate_a claim_n to_o all_o the_o glory_n which_o from_o the_o godhead_n may_v be_v communicate_v to_o it_o and_o confer_v upon_o it_o so_o that_o however_o while_o our_o saviour_n christ_n continue_v here_o the_o exigence_n of_o the_o condition_n and_o the_o office_n which_o he_o have_v assume_v and_o undertake_v make_v he_o a_o man_n of_o sorrow_n and_o of_o suffering_n and_o intercept_v as_o it_o be_v the_o beam_n of_o the_o divine_a glory_n from_o shine_v in_o the_o other_o nature_n so_o that_o there_o be_v no_o form_n nor_o beauty_n in_o he_o yet_o have_v finish_v that_o dispensation_n there_o be_v by_o virtue_n of_o the_o intimate_a association_n of_o the_o manhood_n with_o the_o godhead_n a_o give_v out_o or_o a_o communication_n of_o all_o the_o glory_n from_o the_o deity_n which_o the_o other_o nature_n be_v capable_a of_o and_o this_o be_v that_o which_o jesus_n christ_n desire_v of_o his_o father_n in_o my_o text_n and_o even_o as_o by_o the_o spirit_n of_o holiness_n he_o be_v fill_v with_o treasure_n of_o wisdom_n and_o knowledge_n and_o grace_n and_o thereby_o fit_v for_o the_o office_n of_o a_o mediator_n and_o make_v the_o head_n and_o ruler_n of_o the_o church_n so_o likewise_o by_o the_o spirit_n of_o glory_n he_o be_v fill_v with_o unmatchable_a perfection_n beyond_o the_o comprehension_n of_o all_o other_o creature_n be_v not_o as_o he_o be_v man_n and_o set_v he_o at_o his_o own_o right_a hand_n in_o heavenly_a place_n eph._n 1.20_o that_o be_v he_o set_v he_o up_o above_o all_o other_o thing_n or_o person_n in_o the_o join_v together_o who_o notwithstanding_o their_o conjunction_n continue_v two_o distinct_a person_n but_o as_o the_o body_n and_o the_o soul_n make_v one_o man_n so_o god_n and_o man_n make_v one_o christ_n and_o as_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o soul_n by_o reason_n of_o the_o nearness_n of_o the_o union_n redound_v to_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o person_n and_o consequent_o of_o the_o body_n too_o even_o so_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o godhead_n redound_v to_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o manhood_n in_o the_o person_n of_o our_o saviour_n so_o infinite_o near_o be_v the_o conjunction_n that_o both_o the_o nature_n can_v choose_v but_o share_v together_o and_o as_o the_o godhead_n be_v in_o some_o respect_n abase_v in_o be_v join_v to_o the_o manhood_n be_v eclipse_v and_o shadow_v with_o the_o meanness_n and_o the_o imperfection_n of_o it_o even_o so_o the_o manhood_n on_o the_o other_o side_n be_v honour_v and_o advance_v in_o be_v join_v to_o the_o godhead_n and_o consequent_o shine_v with_o the_o glory_n of_o it_o second_o the_o manhood_n of_o our_o saviour_n participate_v of_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o godhead_n by_o the_o grace_n of_o dispensation_n from_o the_o father_n he_o have_v make_v it_o to_o partake_v of_o that_o glory_n and_o therefore_o he_o have_v raise_v it_o up_o and_o set_v it_o at_o his_o own_o right_a hand_n he_o have_v high_o exalt_v it_o he_o have_v they_o both_o to_o christ_n be_v style_v a_o rest_n a_o sleep_n in_o scripture_n not_o a_o death_n they_o only_o die_v indeed_o which_o go_v down_o quick_a to_o hell_n as_o the_o prophet_n david_n speak_v who_o be_v cast_v into_o the_o lake_n of_o fire_n and_o brimstone_n which_o be_v the_o second_o death_n who_o after_o many_o pang_n and_o torture_n suffer_v in_o the_o separation_n of_o the_o body_n from_o the_o soul_n be_v separate_v everlasting_o from_o the_o presence_n of_o the_o lord_n and_o from_o the_o glory_n of_o his_o power_n be_v it_o so_o that_o the_o life_n which_o jesus_n christ_n etc._n etc._n oh_o how_o do_v it_o concern_v use_v 3_o we_o then_o my_o brethren_n not_o to_o satisfy_v ourselves_o with_o the_o frail_a life_n of_o nature_n which_o may_v expire_v upon_o a_o sudden_a and_o let_v we_o sink_v into_o eternal_a death_n but_o to_o make_v out_o after_o the_o life_n of_o jesus_n christ_n the_o life_n of_o grace_n which_o be_v above_o the_o reach_n and_o power_n of_o death_n which_o will_v not_o fail_v we_o but_o endure_v for_o ever_o we_o all_o have_v spark_n of_o immortality_n within_o we_o and_o we_o have_v thought_n aspire_v to_o eternity_n we_o will_v not_o die_v if_o we_o can_v choose_v oh_o let_v we_o labour_v then_o my_o brethren_n for_o the_o life_n of_o grace_n and_o this_o be_v a_o eternal_a life_n the_o life_n of_o nature_n be_v a_o fade_a thing_n it_o may_v be_v go_v upon_o a_o sudden_a and_o it_o be_v a_o sad_a and_o dreadful_a thing_n for_o a_o eternal_a soul_n to_o have_v nothing_o else_o between_o it_o and_o eternal_a woe_n and_o torture_v but_o such_o a_o fickle_a and_o perishable_a life_n which_o the_o next_o minute_n may_v be_v do_v and_o let_v he_o drop_v away_o to_o hell_n for_o ever_o oh_o how_o sudden_o may_v such_o perish_v and_o come_v to_o a_o fearful_a end_n but_o if_o we_o live_v the_o life_n of_o christ_n that_o be_v a_o last_a and_o abide_v life_n and_o though_o the_o natural_a life_n decay_n and_o though_o the_o body_n die_v and_o rot_v and_o turn_v to_o dust_n and_o putrefaction_n yet_o this_o will_v flourish_v and_o grow_v strong_a still_o till_o it_o be_v perfect_v and_o make_v consummate_v in_o the_o life_n of_o glory_n and_o why_o then_o be_v our_o labour_n and_o endeavour_n whole_o spend_v to_o nourish_v and_o maintain_v this_o transitory_a life_n with_o thing_n that_o perish_v in_o the_o use_n which_o yet_o when_o all_o be_v do_v will_v fail_v and_o come_v to_o dissolution_n but_o never_o strive_v for_o the_o attainment_n of_o that_o life_n which_o be_v eternal_a it_o be_v a_o lamentable_a thing_n my_o brethren_n that_o the_o divine_a intention_n of_o eternal_a mind_n shall_v be_v lay_v out_o on_o nothing_o else_o but_o perishable_a thing_n now_o that_o you_o may_v attain_v this_o last_a and_o endure_a life_n of_o grace_n i_o shall_v but_o give_v you_o two_o or_o three_o direction_n first_o you_o must_v strive_v for_o save_a knowledge_n and_o seek_v to_o get_v your_o it_o be_v true_a indeed_o there_o may_v be_v light_n of_o knowledge_n without_o any_o life_n of_o grace_n but_o there_o can_v never_o be_v the_o life_n of_o grace_n without_o the_o light_n of_o holy_a knowledge_n and_o therefore_o the_o apostle_n speak_v of_o the_o gentile_n say_v they_o be_v stranger_n from_o the_o life_n of_o god_n they_o live_v the_o life_n of_o man_n but_o they_o be_v stranger_n from_o the_o life_n of_o god_n the_o life_n of_o grace_n by_o reason_n of_o the_o ignorance_n and_o darkness_n that_o be_v in_o they_o and_o sure_o if_o we_o ever_o look_v to_o rise_v up_o from_o our_o grave_n of_o sin_n and_o stand_v up_o from_o the_o dead_a we_o must_v have_v light_n from_o jesus_n christ_n as_o the_o apostle_n paul_n insinuate_v eph._n 5.11_o second_o you_o must_v endeavour_v after_o faith_n which_o be_v the_o instrument_n and_o mean_n of_o life_n by_o which_o it_o be_v convey_v from_o christ_n to_o all_o his_o member_n and_o therefore_o we_o shall_v find_v know_v that_o when_o he_o shall_v appear_v we_o shall_v be_v like_o he_o and_o that_o these_o vile_a body_n shall_v be_v conform_v to_o his_o glorious_a body_n phil._n 3.21_o and_o this_o shall_v of_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o godhead_n mark_v what_o the_o apostle_n say_v shall_v i_o take_v the_o member_n of_o christ_n and_o make_v they_o the_o member_n of_o a_o harlot_n so_o may_v i_o say_v on_o this_o occasion_n shall_v i_o take_v the_o nature_n of_o christ_n the_o nature_n which_o our_o saviour_n in_o his_o person_n have_v so_o high_o dignify_v and_o make_v it_o in_o my_o person_n meekness_n and_o long-suffering_a as_o with_o glorious_a robe_n he_o persuade_v they_o at_o length_n to_o put_v on_o love_n which_o be_v a_o unite_n grace_n a_o bond_n of_o perfectness_n the_o uppermost_a garment_n as_o it_o be_v and_o so_o the_o large_a fair_a rich_a and_o most_o precious_a piece_n of_o the_o new_a clothing_n of_o a_o christian_a and_o therefore_o put_v a_o special_a emphasis_n upon_o his_o exhortation_n to_o it_o above_o all_o these_o thing_n put_v on_o charity_n which_o be_v the_o bond_n of_o perfectness_n which_o will_v unite_v and_o join_v you_o perfect_o together_o they_o be_v not_o grace_n of_o the_o mean_a rank_n that_o paul_n commend_v to_o the_o colossian_n in_o the_o former_a verse_n yet_o have_v run_v through_o all_o of_o they_o and_o be_v come_v at_o length_n to_o this_o unite_n grace_n as_o to_o the_o top_n and_o chief_a of_o all_o he_o set_v the_o finger_n of_o a_o hand_n against_o it_o to_o point_v it_o out_o as_o supereminent_a above_o all_o these_o thing_n put_v on_o charity_n which_o be_v the_o bond_n of_o perfectness_n how_o be_v the_o prophet_n david_n carry_v out_o beyond_o himself_o and_o even_o ravish_v in_o the_o contemplation_n of_o this_o precious_a unity_n among_o the_o saint_n and_o therefore_o call_v other_o to_o join_v in_o admiration_n with_o he_o psal_n 133.1_o behold_v how_o good_a and_o pleasant_a a_o thing_n it_o be_v for_o brethren_n to_o dwell_v together_o in_o unity_n the_o admirable_a and_o surpass_a excellency_n of_o it_o be_v represent_v to_o we_o in_o the_o scripture_n many_o way_n if_o for_o church-peace_n and_o unity_n among_o the_o saint_n pray_v you_o for_o the_o peace_n of_o jerusalem_n psalm_n 112.7_o that_o it_o may_v be_v like_o a_o city_n that_o be_v at_o unity_n within_o itself_o and_o therefore_o the_o apostle_n be_v so_o earnest_a for_o it_o as_o it_o be_v for_o life_n and_o death_n the_o god_n of_o peace_n give_v you_o peace_n always_o and_o by_o all_o mean_n by_o which_o he_o intimate_v that_o as_o it_o be_v a_o thing_n of_o wondrous_a difficulty_n so_o of_o great_a concernment_n for_o christ_n disciple_n to_o be_v at_o unity_n among_o themselves_o and_o this_o i_o shall_v lay_v open_a to_o you_o in_o a_o few_o paaticulars_n it_o be_v of_o great_a concernment_n to_o the_o growth_n of_o christ_n disciple_n and_o to_o their_o thrive_a in_o their_o spiritual_a estate_n it_o be_v observe_v of_o the_o church_n act_v 4.32_o that_o they_o be_v of_o one_o heart_n and_o one_o soul_n and_o that_o which_o follow_v present_o be_v this_o great_a grace_n be_v upon_o they_o all_o it_o seem_v they_o be_v in_o the_o increase_n and_o the_o thrive_a hand_n by_o this_o mean_n where_o there_o be_v great_a peace_n among_o the_o saint_n there_o be_v great_a grace_n too_o much_o union_n bring_v forth_o much_o communion_n and_o much_o communion_n bring_v forth_o much_o holiness_n and_o much_o grace_n when_o christian_n walk_v on_o in_o a_o sweet_a and_o amicable_a way_n they_o can_v choose_v but_o grow_v exceed_o but_o when_o dissension_n make_v they_o to_o reserve_v themselves_o this_o be_v extreme_o prejudicial_a to_o the_o increase_n in_o holiness_n which_o otherwise_o will_v be_v among_o they_o that_o place_n of_o the_o apostle_n be_v very_o notable_a to_o this_o purpose_n col._n 2_o 19_o and_o not_o hold_v the_o head_n from_o which_o all_o the_o body_n by_o joint_n and_o band_n have_v nourishment_n minister_v and_o knit_v together_o increase_v with_o the_o increase_n of_o god_n be_v knit_v together_o it_o make_v increase_v it_o be_v of_o great_a concernment_n as_o to_o the_o growth_n of_o christ_n disciple_n so_o also_o to_o their_o comfort_n that_o they_o be_v at_o near_a unity_n among_o themselves_o it_o be_v a_o notable_a expression_n of_o the_o apostle_n paul_n to_o this_o purpose_n col._n 2.2_o that_o their_o heart_n may_v be_v comfort_v be_v knit_v together_o in_o love_n there_o be_v the_o mercy_n wish_v they_o that_o their_o heart_n may_v be_v comfort_v and_o then_o the_o requisite_a condition_n and_o qualification_n to_o make_v they_o capable_a of_o this_o comfort_n be_v knit_v together_o in_o love_n much_o union_n much_o comfort_n little_a union_n little_a comfort_n no_o union_n no_o comfort_n indeed_o it_o be_v a_o pleasant_a thing_n for_o brethren_n to_o live_v together_o in_o unity_n but_o it_o be_v a_o bitter_a thing_n to_o live_v in_o discord_n and_o dissension_n it_o eat_v out_o all_o the_o joy_n and_o comfort_n of_o a_o man_n and_o fill_v his_o spirit_n with_o vexation_n when_o man_n be_v over_o head_n and_o ear_n in_o controversy_n and_o contention_n especial_o saint_n with_o saint_n it_o make_v their_o life_n unquiet_a and_o uncomfortable_a to_o they_o you_o shall_v observe_v how_o restless_a such_o man_n be_v who_o be_v embroil_v in_o trouble_n and_o who_o be_v deep_a in_o controversy_n and_o contention_n they_o can_v eat_v they_o can_v sleep_v they_o can_v talk_v they_o can_v do_v nothing_o cheerful_o and_o free_o they_o be_v so_o clog_v and_o cumber_v with_o their_o own_o impatient_a and_o perplex_a thought_n listen_v to_o they_o and_o you_o shall_v hear_v they_o ever_o and_o anon_o complain_v that_o every_o one_o be_v vex_v they_o and_o trouble_v and_o molest_v they_o so_o that_o they_o can_v live_v in_o peace_n their_o wife_n their_o child_n and_o their_o servant_n can_v be_v at_o quiet_a for_o they_o they_o be_v in_o such_o a_o pelt_a humour_n upon_o every_o light_a occasion_n their_o family_n be_v like_o the_o middle_a region_n of_o the_o air_n continual_o rend_v and_o tear_v with_o storm_n and_o thunder_n and_o tempestuous_a stir_n which_o rise_v at_o first_o of_o a_o thing_n of_o nothing_o a_o thin_a invisible_a fume_n draw_v up_o from_o the_o earth_n and_o all_o this_o come_v to_o pass_v by_o the_o dissension_n that_o they_o have_v with_o other_o which_o take_v away_o the_o meekness_n of_o their_o spirit_n and_o with_o that_o their_o quiet_a too_o and_o therefore_o you_o shall_v find_v a_o meek_a and_o quiet_a spirit_n join_v together_o and_o make_v the_o chief_a adorn_v of_o a_o christian_a 1_o pet._n 2.4_o who_o adorn_v let_v it_o be_v that_o of_o the_o hide_a man_n of_o the_o heart_n even_o the_o adorn_v of_o a_o meek_a and_o quiet_a spirit_n it_o it_o be_v meek_a it_o will_v be_v quiet_a if_o enrage_a it_o will_v be_v trouble_v it_o will_v be_v like_o the_o sea_n that_o can_v rest_v who_o water_n cast_v up_o mire_n and_o dirt_n it_o be_v of_o so_o great_a concernment_n as_o to_o the_o growth_n and_o comfort_n of_o christ_n disciple_n that_o they_o be_v at_o unity_n etc._n etc._n so_o also_o to_o their_o keep_n in_o with_o god_n himself_o they_o must_v have_v peace_n among_o themselves_o if_o they_o will_v have_v peace_n with_o god_n if_o they_o be_v angry_a one_o with_o another_o god_n
to_o be_v as_o merciful_a as_o god_n be_v if_o you_o look_v to_o the_o degree_n for_o as_o the_o heaven_n be_v high_a than_o the_o earth_n so_o be_v his_o thought_n above_o we_o in_o this_o particular_a but_o yet_o we_o may_v be_v merciful_a as_o he_o be_v though_o not_o as_o merciful_a as_o he_o be_v so_o in_o the_o text_n our_o saviour_n pray_v for_o his_o disciple_n that_o they_o may_v all_o be_v one_o as_o thou_o father_n be_v in_o i_o and_o i_o in_o thou_o that_o they_o also_o may_v be_v one_o in_o we_o the_o meaning_n be_v not_o that_o they_o may_v be_v one_o as_o near_o they_o may_v be_v so_o i_o shall_v show_v at_o large_a anon_o in_o the_o mean_a time_n the_o point_n be_v this_o doctrine_n it_o be_v the_o will_n of_o jesus_n christ_n that_o his_o disciple_n shall_v quarter_n of_o the_o earth_n yet_o all_o the_o body_n so_o divide_v and_o so_o distant_a as_o you_o see_v by_o joint_n and_o band_n be_v knit_v together_o and_o you_o will_v easy_o conceive_v it_o when_o you_o consider_v what_o these_o band_n be_v 1._o they_o have_v all_o one_o spirit_n and_o so_o in_o that_o respect_n be_v one_o i_o speak_v not_o of_o the_o spirit_n or_o soul_n of_o a_o man_n but_o of_o the_o spirit_n of_o the_o lord_n christ_n which_o be_v one_o dwell_v in_o all_o the_o saint_n at_o once_o and_o so_o make_v they_o one_o too_o yea_o let_v they_o be_v as_o distant_a as_o they_o will_n and_o as_o the_o formal_a reason_n of_o the_o union_n of_o the_o member_n of_o the_o body_n natural_a consist_v not_o so_o much_o in_o contiguity_n as_o animation_n by_o the_o same_o soul_n so_o that_o if_o any_o part_n be_v mortify_v and_o if_o the_o soul_n give_v over_o to_o enliven_v it_o it_o be_v no_o more_o to_o be_v esteem_v a_o member_n notwithstanding_o its_o external_a and_o corporeal_a inherence_n to_o the_o body_n so_o though_o the_o saint_n be_v far_o from_o one_o another_o in_o regard_n of_o place_n yet_o they_o be_v close_o knit_v together_o by_o the_o same_o spirit_n be_v join_v to_o the_o lord_n they_o be_v all_o one_o spirit_n and_o so_o indeed_o be_v all_o one_o 2._o they_o have_v all_o one_o faith_n one_o at_o least_o in_o fundamental_o and_o one_o faith_n make_v one_o as_o ephes_n 4.4_o 5._o they_o that_o be_v of_o many_o faith_n in_o fundamental_o can_v come_v so_o close_o together_o to_o be_v all_o one_o and_o therefore_o jesus_n christ_n faith_n will_v make_v a_o union_n at_o a_o distance_n as_o well_o as_o if_o the_o person_n join_v be_v all_o together_o what_o do_v the_o the_o corporal_a or_o local_a presence_n of_o the_o party_n contribute_v to_o the_o union_n that_o be_v make_v by_o faith_n which_o be_v a_o spiritual_a and_o invisible_a thing_n and_o consequent_o join_v in_o a_o spiritual_a and_o invisible_a manner_n which_o no_o division_n or_o distance_n in_o regard_n of_o place_n can_v hinder_v 3._o they_o have_v all_o one_o heart_n and_o one_o affection_n and_o so_o in_o that_o respect_n be_v one_o the_o multitude_n of_o believer_n be_v of_o one_o heart_n act._n 4.32_o though_o they_o be_v multitude_n yet_o they_o have_v but_o one_o heart_n and_o when_o there_o be_v but_o one_o heart_n there_o be_v a_o great_a oness_n the_o understanding_n be_v the_o principle_n of_o speculation_n the_o heart_n the_o seat_n of_o love_n and_o of_o affection_n and_o the_o saint_n be_v so_o unite_v and_o link_v togther_o in_o affection_n as_o if_o they_o have_v among_o they_o but_o one_o common_a principle_n of_o this_o affection_n as_o if_o they_o have_v but_o one_o heart_n and_o therefore_o the_o apostle_n speak_v of_o the_o faithful_a say_v that_o they_o be_v knit_v together_o in_o love_n col._n 2.2_o the_o term_n there_o use_v import_v such_o a_o knit_n as_o be_v between_o the_o divers_a part_n and_o piece_n of_o a_o building_n for_o so_o the_o saint_n though_o there_o be_v million_o of_o they_o in_o the_o world_n yet_o they_o be_v build_v up_o altogether_o to_o a_o spiritual_a house_n 1_o pet._n 2.5_o and_o love_n be_v as_o it_o be_v the_o mortar_n and_o the_o pin_n the_o ligament_n and_o tie_n of_o the_o connexion_n and_o elsewhere_o it_o be_v call_v a_o bond_n col._n 3.10_o above_o all_o these_o thing_n put_v on_o charity_n which_o be_v the_o bond_n of_o perfectness_n with_o which_o we_o be_v perfect_o join_v together_o 1_o cor._n 1.10_o now_o love_n will_v make_v a_o union_n at_o a_o distance_n as_o well_o as_o near_o at_o hand_n the_o nearness_n of_o the_o place_n simple_o consider_v in_o itself_o contribute_v nothing_o to_o the_o nearness_n and_o to_o the_o strength_n of_o the_o affection_n no_o love_n will_v reach_v a_o person_n at_o the_o other_o end_n of_o all_o the_o earth_n as_o well_o as_o if_o he_o be_v just_a by_o we_o in_o the_o very_a next_o room_n or_o in_o the_o very_a next_o dwelling_n you_o see_v both_o that_o and_o how_o it_o be_v the_o will_n of_o jesus_n christ_n that_o his_o disciple_n shall_v be_v one_o among_o themselves_o which_o be_v the_o first_o thing_n in_o the_o point_n but_o now_o there_o be_v a_o second_o branch_n he_o will_v not_o have_v they_o only_o to_o be_v one_o among_o themselves_o but_o he_o will_v have_v they_o also_o to_o be_v one_o in_o god_n this_o be_v the_o special_a thing_n for_o which_o he_o be_v a_o suitor_n to_o his_o father_n in_o my_o text_n that_o they_o may_v be_v all_o one_o as_o thou_o father_n be_v in_o i_o and_o i_o in_o thou_o that_o they_o also_o may_v be_v one_o in_o we_o not_o one_o among_o themselves_o alone_o but_o one_o in_o we_o which_o be_v indeed_o a_o very_a high_a thing_n now_o that_o you_o may_v the_o better_o know_v what_o christ_n intend_v in_o this_o particular_a you_o must_v consider_v that_o he_o speak_v to_o god_n the_o father_n as_o man_n and_o mediator_n in_o this_o place_n for_o he_o speak_v in_o prayer_n here_o and_o consequent_o when_o he_o say_v as_o thou_o father_n be_v in_o i_o and_o i_o in_o thou_o he_o speak_v not_o of_o the_o union_n which_o be_v between_o his_o father_n and_o himself_o as_o he_o be_v god_n for_o in_o that_o consideration_n the_o father_n and_o the_o son_n be_v so_o in_o one_o another_o that_o they_o be_v the_o very_a same_o the_o same_o essence_n for_o so_o the_o union_n be_v identical_a though_o they_o

so_o it_o must_v be_v understand_v exclusive_o then_o in_o the_o first_o place_n what_o a_o sad_a condition_n be_v they_o in_o who_o have_v not_o this_o love_n in_o they_o who_o have_v not_o love_v to_o god_n nor_o to_o his_o child_n nay_o who_o indeed_o be_v enemy_n to_o both_o who_o hate_n god_n and_o hate_v his_o people_n and_o that_o with_o a_o perfect_a hatred_n as_o multitude_n there_o in_o paradise_n no_o we_o be_v branch_n of_o such_o a_o vine_n as_o never_o wither_v &_o we_o be_v member_n of_o such_o a_o head_n as_o never_o die_v so_o that_o undoubted_o the_o life_n of_o jesus_n in_o we_o although_o it_o be_v not_o privilege_v from_o abatement_n and_o temptation_n yet_o it_o have_v nothing_o in_o it_o that_o tend_v to_o utter_v dissolution_n second_o the_o life_n which_o jesus_n christ_n bestow_v upon_o his_o people_n as_o it_o have_v no_o inward_a principle_n of_o dissolution_n in_o itself_o so_o neither_o be_v there_o any_o outward_a force_n that_o can_v prevail_v against_o it_o to_o destroy_v it_o christ_n will_v preserve_v and_o maintain_v it_o in_o we_o in_o spite_n of_o any_o opposition_n the_o world_n may_v set_v upon_o we_o and_o endeavour_v to_o extinguish_v this_o life_n of_o holiness_n and_o grace_n in_o we_o she_o may_v assault_v we_o with_o her_o violent_a tentation_n every_o way_n with_o promise_n and_o sweet_a insinuation_n on_o the_o one_o side_n with_o threat_n and_o bloody_a persecution_n on_o the_o other_o but_o this_o we_o may_v rely_v upon_o the_o world_n shall_v never_o overcome_v we_o for_o christ_n have_v overcome_v the_o world_n and_o we_o must_v know_v that_o christ_n have_v overcome_v the_o world_n not_o for_o himself_o alone_o but_o for_o his_o member_n and_o as_o he_o overcome_v it_o for_o we_o so_o he_o do_v overcome_v it_o in_o we_o too_o by_o his_o grace_n as_o the_o apostle_n intimate_v 1_o john_n 5.5_o this_o be_v the_o victory_n that_o overcome_v the_o world_n even_o your_o faith_n the_o devil_n be_v a_o far_o more_o subtle_a and_o pernicious_a adversary_n than_o the_o world_n but_o yet_o he_o can_v overthrow_v this_o life_n of_o grace_n in_o any_o of_o the_o saint_n the_o gate_n of_o hell_n can_v can_v wound_v we_o in_o the_o vital_a part_n or_o take_v away_o our_o life_n from_o we_o the_o flesh_n be_v the_o worst_a enemy_n of_o all_o in_o this_o respect_n because_o it_o be_v a_o inward_a enemy_n and_o a_o mortal_a enemy_n either_o that_o must_v die_v or_o we_o as_o the_o apostle_n paul_n insinuate_v rom._n 8.13_o but_o here_o be_v our_o comfort_n now_o the_o the_o flesh_n shall_v die_v and_o we_o shall_v live_v christ_n will_v destroy_v the_o flesh_n in_o we_o and_o he_o will_v put_v the_o spirit_n into_o we_o and_o maintain_v the_o spirit_n in_o we_o and_o by_o this_o spirit_n we_o shall_v live_v and_o this_o life_n shall_v be_v eternal_a we_o shall_v of_o the_o spirit_n reap_v life_n everlasting_a gal._n 6.8_o so_o that_o the_o point_n you_o see_v be_v full_o the_o root_n and_o how_o be_v they_o twice_o dead_a they_o be_v not_o dead_a at_o all_o in_o regard_n of_o their_o outward_a and_o natural_a life_n for_o they_o be_v then_o alive_a and_o work_a mischief_n in_o the_o church_n and_o therefore_o out_o of_o question_n his_o intention_n must_v be_v this_o first_o they_o be_v dead_a in_o trespass_n and_o sin_n then_o for_o a_o while_n in_o some_o respect_n or_o sense_n they_o live_v the_o life_n of_o grace_n and_o afterward_o they_o die_v again_o and_o so_o they_o be_v twice_o dead_a and_o how_o then_o be_v the_o doctrine_n true_a the_o life_n or_o else_o in_o show_n and_o appearance_n only_o the_o church_n of_o sardis_n live_v in_o show_n she_o have_v a_o name_n answ_n our_o saviour_n tell_v she_o that_o she_o be_v alive_a but_o she_o be_v dead_a rev._n 3.1_o there_o be_v but_o a_o name_n of_o life_n she_o have_v a_o name_n that_o she_o do_v live_v but_o there_o be_v the_o reality_n of_o death_n she_o be_v dead_a now_o they_o that_o evidence_n of_o life_n and_o then_o again_o in_o show_n and_o in_o appearance_n when_o they_o lose_v that_o life_n of_o grace_n which_o both_o to_o other_o and_o themselves_o they_o seem_v to_o enjoy_v now_o be_v it_o so_o that_o the_o life_n which_o jesus_n christ_n etc._n etc._n this_o than_o shall_v stay_v use_v 1_o we_o and_o support_v we_o against_o the_o fear_n of_o those_o tentation_n which_o threaten_v we_o with_o the_o destruction_n of_o the_o life_n of_o grace_n it_o be_v a_o great_a affliction_n to_o the_o saint_n sometime_o when_o they_o be_v mighty_o assault_v by_o satan_n and_o their_o own_o corruption_n and_o even_o ready_a to_o be_v overcome_v they_o cry_v out_o with_o relation_n to_o their_o spiritual_a as_o job_n with_o respect_n to_o his_o natural_a life_n what_o be_v my_o strength_n that_o i_o shall_v hope_v what_o grace_n have_v i_o that_o i_o shall_v hold_v out_o against_o such_o violent_a encounter_n as_o these_o be_v how_o shall_v i_o hope_v to_o live_v when_o my_o life_n be_v thus_o assault_v with_o such_o fiery_a dart_n without_o with_o such_o distemper_n noxious_a humour_n and_o such_o lust_n within_o oh_o but_o remember_v my_o belove_a christ_n give_v eternal_a life_n to_o his_o people_n a_o life_n that_o be_v not_o subject_a to_o destruction_n either_o by_o inward_a weakness_n or_o outward_a violence_n if_o ever_o once_o you_o have_v it_o from_o he_o you_o can_v never_o lose_v it_o he_o that_o once_o live_v the_o life_n of_o christ_n can_v never_o die_v death_n have_v no_o more_o dominion_n over_o he_o be_v it_o so_o my_o brethren_n that_o the_o life_n of_o etc._n etc._n this_o than_o may_v clear_v and_o use_v 2_o comfort_v we_o against_o the_o frailty_n and_o dissolution_n of_o the_o life_n of_o nature_n it_o be_v true_a my_o brethren_n that_o be_v subject_a to_o decay_v it_o be_v a_o perishable_a life_n but_o this_o be_v a_o eternal_a life_n that_o may_v and_o will_v be_v lose_v indeed_o but_o this_o endure_v to_o all_o eternity_n and_o why_o then_o be_v we_o so_o afraid_a of_o death_n why_o do_v it_o terrify_v we_o and_o affright_v we_o so_o when_o it_o have_v do_v its_o utmost_a we_o shall_v live_v for_o ever_o why_o be_v we_o grieve_v and_o trouble_v when_o they_o die_v the_o death_n of_o nature_n who_o have_v the_o life_n of_o christ_n in_o they_o true_o my_o brethren_n we_o may_v say_v of_o such_o as_o our_o saviour_n of_o the_o damsel_n they_o be_v not_o dead_a as_o christ_n to_o martha_n when_o she_o bewail_v the_o loss_n of_o her_o dear_a brother_n lazarus_n john_n 11.26_o whosoever_o live_v and_o believe_v in_o i_o shall_v never_o die_v he_o shall_v never_o die_v the_o death_n that_o overthrow_v the_o life_n of_o christ_n the_o life_n of_o grace_n for_o so_o you_o must_v conceive_v he_o there_o in_o that_o place_n q._n d._n lazarus_n be_v a_o believer_n and_o therefore_o whatsoever_o thou_o may_v apprehend_v he_o be_v not_o dead_a he_o be_v not_o dead_a in_o reference_n to_o that_o
