faith_n who_o be_v the_o physician_n of_o the_o soul._n by_o this_o which_o i_o have_v say_v you_o may_v see_v what_o it_o be_v to_o be_v wicked_a and_o what_o it_o be_v to_o be_v convert_v which_o i_o think_v will_v be_v yet_o plain_o to_o you_o if_o i_o describe_v they_o as_o consist_v of_o their_o several_a part_n and_o for_o the_o first_o a_o wicked_a man_n may_v be_v know_v by_o these_o three_o thing_n first_o he_o be_v one_o who_o place_v his_o chief_a content_n on_o earth_n and_o love_v the_o creature_n more_o than_o god_n and_o his_o fleshly_a prosperity_n above_o the_o heavenly_a felicity_n he_o savour_v the_o thing_n of_o the_o flesh_n but_o neither_o discern_v nor_o savour_v the_o thing_n of_o the_o spirit_n though_o he_o will_v say_v that_o heaven_n be_v better_a than_o earth_n yet_o do_v he_o not_o real_o so_o esteem_v it_o to_o himself_o if_o he_o may_v be_v
sure_a of_o earth_n he_o will_v let_v go_v heaven_n and_o have_v rather_o stay_v here_o then_o be_v remove_v thither_o a_o life_n of_o perfect_a holiness_n in_o the_o sight_n of_o god_n and_o in_o his_o love_n and_o praise_n for_o ever_o in_o heaven_n do_v not_o find_v such_o like_n with_o his_o heart_n as_o a_o life_n of_o health_n and_o wealth_n and_o honour_n here_o upon_o earth_n and_o though_o he_o false_o profess_v that_o he_o love_v god_n above_o all_o yet_o indeed_o he_o never_o feel_v the_o power_n of_o divine_a love_n within_o he_o but_o his_o mind_n be_v more_o set_v on_o the_o world_n or_o fleshly_a pleasure_n then_o on_o god_n in_o a_o word_n whoever_o love_v earth_n above_o heaven_n and_o fleshly_a prosperity_n more_o than_o god_n be_v a_o wicked_a unconvert_v man_n on_o the_o other_o side_n a_o convert_v man_n be_v illuminate_v to_o discern_v the_o loveliness_n of_o god_n and_o so_o far_o believe_v the_o glory_n that_o be_v to_o be_v have_v with_o god_n that_o his_o heart_n be_v take_v up_o to_o it_o and_o set_v more_o upon_o it_o then_o on_o any_o thing_n in_o this_o world_n he_o have_v rather_o see_v the_o face_n of_o god_n and_o live_v in_o his_o everlasting_a love_n and_o praise_n then_o have_v all_o the_o wealth_n or_o pleasure_n of_o this_o world_n he_o see_v that_o all_o thing_n else_o be_v vanity_n and_o nothing_o but_o god_n can_v fill_v false_a opinion_n and_o fall_v into_o some_o divide_v party_n as_o anabaptist_n quaker_n papist_n or_o such_o like_a and_o some_o think_v if_o they_o have_v but_o be_v affright_v by_o the_o fear_n of_o hell_n and_o have_v conviction_n and_o gripe_v of_o conscience_n and_o thereupon_o have_v purpose_v and_o promise_a amendment_n and_o take_v up_o a_o life_n of_o civil_a behaviour_n and_o outward_a religion_n that_o this_o must_v needs_o be_v true_a conversion_n and_o these_o be_v the_o poor_a delude_a soul_n that_o be_v like_a to_o lose_v the_o benefit_n of_o all_o our_o persuasion_n and_o when_o they_o hear_v that_o the_o wicked_a must_v turn_v or_o die_v they_o think_v that_o this_o be_v not_o speak_v to_o they_o for_o they_o be_v not_o wicked_a but_o be_v turn_v already_o and_o therefore_o it_o be_v that_o christ_n tell_v some_o of_o the_o ruler_n of_o the_o jew_n who_o be_v grave_a and_o civil_a than_o the_o common_a people_n that_o publican_n and_o harlot_n do_v go_v their_o worldly_a business_n and_o little_o trouble_v their_o mind_n with_o such_o thought_n and_o if_o they_o be_v but_o restrain_v from_o scandalous_a sin_n and_o can_v say_v i_o be_o no_o whoremonger_n nor_o thief_n nor_o curser_n nor_o swearer_n nor_o tippler_n nor_o extortioner_n i_o go_v to_o church_n and_o say_v my_o prayer_n they_o think_v that_o this_o be_v true_a conversion_n and_o they_o shall_v be_v save_v as_o well_o as_o any_o alas_o this_o be_v foolish_a cheat_v of_o yourselves_o this_o be_v too_o much_o contempt_n of_o a_o endless_a glory_n and_o too_o gross_a assure_v i_o ver._n 8._o when_o i_o say_v to_o the_o wicked_a o_o wicked_a man_n thou_o shall_v sure_o die_v if_o thou_o do_v not_o speak_v to_o warn_v the_o wicked_a from_o his_o way_n that_o wicked_a man_n shall_v die_v in_o his_o iniquity_n but_o his_o blood_n will_v i_o require_v at_o thy_o hand_n you_o see_v then_o though_o this_o be_v a_o rough_a unwelcome_a doctrine_n it_o be_v such_o as_o we_o must_v preach_v and_o you_o must_v hear_v it_o be_v easy_a to_o hear_v of_o hell_n then_o feel_v it_o if_o your_o necessity_n do_v not_o require_v it_o we_o will_v not_o gall_v your_o tender_a ear_n with_o truth_n that_o seem_v so_o harsh_a and_o grievous_a hell_n will_v not_o be_v so_o full_a if_o people_n be_v but_o willing_a to_o know_v their_o case_n and_o to_o hear_v and_o think_v of_o it_o the_o reason_n why_o so_o few_o escape_n it_o be_v because_o they_o strive_v not_o to_o enter_v in_o at_o the_o strait_a gate_n of_o conversion_n and_o to_o go_v the_o narrow_a way_n of_o holiness_n while_o they_o have_v time_n and_o they_o strive_v not_o because_o they_o be_v not_o waken_v to_o a_o lively_a feel_n of_o the_o danger_n they_o be_v in_o and_o they_o be_v not_o waken_v because_o they_o be_v do_v to_o hear_v or_o think_v of_o it_o and_o that_o be_v partly_o through_o foolish_a tenderness_n and_o carnal_a self-love_n and_o partly_o because_o they_o do_v not_o well_o believe_v the_o word_n that_o threaten_v it_o if_o you_o will_v but_o thorough_o believe_v this_o truth_n i_o think_v the_o weight_n of_o it_o shall_v force_v you_o to_o remember_v it_o and_o it_o shall_v follow_v you_o and_o give_v you_o no_o rest_n till_o you_o be_v convert_v if_o you_o have_v but_o once_o hear_v this_o word_n by_o the_o voice_n of_o a_o angel_n thou_o must_v be_v convert_v or_o condemn_v turn_v or_o die_v will_v it_o not_o stick_v in_o your_o mind_n and_o haunt_v you_o night_n and_o day_n so_o that_o in_o your_o sin_v you_o will_v remember_v it_o and_o at_o your_o labour_n you_o will_v remember_v it_o as_o if_o the_o voice_n be_v still_o in_o your_o ear_n turn_v or_o die_v o_o happy_a be_v your_o soul_n if_o it_o may_v thus_o work_v with_o you_o and_o never_o be_v forget_v or_o let_v you_o alone_o till_o it_o have_v drive_v home_o your_o heart_n to_o god_n but_o if_o you_o will_v cast_v it_o out_o by_o forgetfulness_n or_o unbelief_n how_o can_v it_o work_v to_o your_o conversion_n and_o salvation_n but_o take_v this_o with_o you_o to_o your_o sorrow_n though_o you_o may_v put_v this_o out_o of_o your_o mind_n you_o can_v put_v it_o out_o of_o the_o bible_n but_o there_o it_o will_v stand_v as_o a_o seal_a truth_n which_o you_o shall_v experimental_o know_v for_o ever_o that_o there_o be_v no_o other_o way_n but_o turn_v or_o die_v o_o what_o be_v the_o matter_n then_o that_o the_o heart_n of_o sinner_n be_v not_o pierce_v with_o such_o a_o weighty_a truth_n a_o man_n will_v think_v now_o that_o every_o unconverted_a soul_n that_o hear_v these_o word_n shall_v be_v prick_v to_o the_o heart_n and_o think_v with_o themselves_o this_o be_v my_o own_o case_n and_o never_o be_v quiet_a till_o they_o find_v themselves_o convert_v believe_v it_o sir_n this_o drowsy_a careless_a temper_n will_v not_o last_v long_o conversion_n and_o condemnation_n be_v both_o of_o they_o awaken_n thing_n and_o one_o of_o they_o will_v make_v you_o feel_v ere_o long_o i_o can_v foretell_v it_o as_o true_o as_o if_o i_o see_v it_o with_o my_o eye_n that_o either_o grace_n or_o hell_n will_v short_o bring_v these_o matter_n to_o the_o quick_a and_o make_v you_o say_v what_o have_v i_o do_v what_o a_o foolâ—â—â—_n wicked_a course_n have_v i_o take_v the_o scornful_a and_o the_o stupid_a state_n of_o sinner_n will_v last_v but_o a_o little_a while_n as_o soon_o as_o they_o either_o turn_v or_o die_v the_o presumptuous_a dream_n will_v be_v at_o a_o end_n and_o then_o their_o wit_n and_o feeling_n will_v return_v but_o i_o foresee_v there_o be_v two_o thing_n that_o be_v like_a to_o harden_v the_o unconvert_v and_o make_v i_o lose_v all_o my_o labour_n except_o they_o can_v be_v take_v out_o of_o the_o way_n and_o that_o be_v the_o misunderstanding_n of_o these_o two_o word_n the_o wicked_a and_o turn_v some_o will_v think_v with_o themselves_o it_o be_v true_a the_o wicked_a must_v turn_v or_o die_v but_o whâ—â—'s_v that_o to_o i_o i_o be_o not_o wicked_a though_o i_o be_o a_o sinner_n as_o all_o man_n be_v other_o will_v think_v it_o be_v true_a thaâ—_n we_o maâ—_n turn_v from_o our_o evil_a way_n but_o i_o be_o turn_v long_o ago_o i_o hope_v this_o be_v not_o now_o to_o do_v and_o thus_o while_o wicked_a man_n think_v they_o be_v not_o wicked_a but_o be_v already_o convert_v we_o lose_v all_o our_o labour_n in_o persuade_v they_o to_o turn_v i_o shall_v therefore_o before_o i_o go_v any_o further_a tell_v you_o here_o who_o be_v mean_v by_o the_o wicked_a and_o who_o they_o be_v that_o must_v turn_v or_o die_v and_o also_o what_o be_v mean_v by_o turn_v and_o who_o they_o be_v that_o be_v true_o convert_v and_o this_o i_o have_v purposely_o reserve_v for_o this_o place_n prefer_v the_o method_n that_o fit_v my_o end_n and_o here_o you_o must_v observe_v that_o in_o the_o sense_n of_o the_o text_n a_o wicked_a man_n and_o a_o convert_a man_n be_v contrary_n no_o man_n be_v a_o wicked_a man_n that_o be_v convert_v and_o no_o man_n be_v a_o convert_a man_n that_o be_v wicked_a so_o that_o to_o be_v a_o wicked_a man_n and_o to_o be_v a_o unconverted_a man_n be_v all_o one_o and_o therefore_o in_o open_v one_o we_o shall_v open_v both_o before_o i_o can_v tell_v you_o what_o either_o wickedness_n or_o conversion_n be_v i_o must_v go_v to_o the_o bottom_n and_o fetch_v up_o the_o matter_n from_o the_o beginning_n it_o please_v the_o great_a creator_n of_o the_o world_n to_o make_v three_o sort_n of_o live_a creature_n angel_n he_o make_v pure_a spirit_n without_o flesh_n and_o therefore_o he_o make_v they_o only_o for_o heaven_n and_o not_o for_o to_o dwell_v on_o earth_n bruit_n be_v make_v flesh_n without_o immortal_a soul_n and_o therefore_o they_o be_v
