this_o after_o the_o death_n of_o a_o godly_a minister_n how_o quick_o be_v all_o his_o labour_n all_o who_o precious_a truth_n he_o have_v make_v know_v forget_v as_o if_o they_o never_o have_v such_o a_o preacher_n among_o they_o however_o if_o these_o soulsaving_a truth_n be_v forget_v peter_n will_v take_v care_n that_o the_o sin_n shall_v not_o lie_v at_o his_o door_n he_o will_v be_v faithful_a to_o do_v his_o duty_n and_o chap._n 3._o 1._o take_v notice_n how_o again_o he_o take_v up_o this_o profession_n of_o his_o care_n and_o zeal_n to_o help_v their_o memory_n he_o write_v person_n do_v almost_o write_v the_o same_o thing_n verbatim_o which_o the_o apostle_n peter_n have_v write_v in_o this_o second_o epistle_n and_o vers_fw-la 4._o he_o proclaim_v this_o to_o be_v his_o end_n to_o put_v they_o in_o remembrance_n though_o once_o they_o know_v this_o it_o be_v for_o their_o memory_n sake_n by_o way_n of_o exhortation_n not_o for_o their_o understanding_n by_o of_o holy_a thing_n and_o a_o careless_a neglect_n of_o they_o or_o original_a whereby_o the_o memory_n through_o adam_n fall_n as_o well_o as_o the_o other_o part_n of_o the_o soul_n be_v become_v all_o over_o unsanctified_a and_o have_v no_o suitableness_n or_o proportion_n to_o divine_a object_n and_o holy_a duty_n i_o shall_v speak_v of_o this_o late_a though_o as_o express_v and_o empty_v itself_o into_o actual_a and_o wilful_a forgetfulness_n for_o of_o this_o original_a and_o native_a pollution_n of_o the_o memory_n must_v we_o understand_v this_o text_n in_o a_o great_a measure_n which_o the_o apostle_n by_o frequent_a fill_n will_v get_v off_o as_o so_o much_o rust_n see_v he_o write_v to_o those_o that_o be_v sanctify_v and_o as_o also_o he_o speak_v of_o this_o as_o a_o permanent_a and_o a_o abide_a weakness_n in_o they_o now_o in_o the_o regenerate_a all_o contract_a habit_n of_o sin_n be_v expel_v by_o virtue_n of_o the_o new_a birth_n and_o as_o for_o actual_a sin_n they_o be_v transient_a so_o that_o there_o remain_v no_o other_o defilement_n but_o original_a and_o the_o relic_n or_o immediate_a product_n thereof_o if_o then_o the_o most_o holy_a do_v need_v quicken_a help_n to_o their_o memory_n because_o of_o the_o dulness_n and_o slowness_n in_o it_o about_o holy_a thing_n it_o be_v plain_a the_o memory_n as_o well_o as_o the_o other_o faculty_n of_o the_o soul_n be_v deprave_v by_o original_a sin_n and_o if_o in_o the_o sanctify_a person_n the_o memory_n have_v this_o partial_a and_o gradual_a sinfulness_n in_o the_o unregenerate_a and_o natural_a man_n it_o must_v be_v all_o over_o pollute_a and_o make_v unsavoury_a about_o any_o good_a thing_n observe_v that_o the_o memory_n of_o every_o man_n by_o nature_n be_v whole_o pollute_v by_o original_a sin_n it_o can_v perform_v those_o office_n and_o act_n for_o these_o holy_a end_n as_o it_o be_v at_o first_o enable_v to_o do_v in_o the_o state_n of_o integrity_n it_o will_v be_v very_o useful_a and_o profitable_a to_o anatomize_v the_o sinfulness_n of_o the_o memory_n as_o we_o have_v do_v of_o the_o other_o intellectual_a power_n for_o it_o be_v from_o the_o pollution_n of_o the_o people_n be_v you_o not_o afraid_a of_o they_o but_o remember_v the_o lord_n which_o be_v great_a and_o terrible_a this_o god_n complain_v of_o isa_n 57_o 11._o thou_o have_v not_o remember_v thought_n oh_o where_o may_v we_o find_v a_o young_a timothy_n that_o be_v acquaint_v with_o the_o scripturee_n from_o his_o infancy_n where_o a_o obadiah_n that_o fear_v god_n from_o the_o youth_n do_v not_o most_o young_a person_n live_v so_o negligent_o about_o holy_a thing_n as_o if_o they_o be_v allow_v to_o be_v dissolute_a as_o if_o the_o thing_n of_o heaven_n and_o eternity_n do_v not_o belong_v to_o they_o as_o if_o solomon_n have_v say_v the_o contrary_a do_v not_o remember_v god_n in_o the_o day_n of_o thy_o youth_n be_v not_o so_o strict_a and_o precise_a but_o follow_v thy_o pastime_n and_o pleasure_n thus_o the_o very_a memory_n of_o god_n and_o holy_a thing_n be_v a_o burden_n to_o young_a person_n they_o think_v soliman_n speak_v far_o better_a chap._n 11._o 9_o when_o it_o that_o many_o person_n who_o be_v not_o able_a to_o remember_v any_o thing_n of_o the_o scripture_n or_o the_o sermon_n they_o have_v hear_v yet_o can_v remember_v ballad_n and_o song_n they_o can_v remember_v their_o youthful_a prank_n and_o talk_v of_o they_o with_o delight_n but_o they_o can_v give_v any_o account_n of_o the_o good_a truth_n that_o in_o their_o young_a year_n be_v preach_v to_o they_o when_o do_v you_o hear_v such_o say_v such_o a_o sermon_n wound_v i_o at_o heart_n it_o stick_v still_o upon_o i_o i_o shall_v never_o forget_v it_o now_o be_v not_o the_o sinfulness_n of_o the_o memory_n great_o to_o be_v bewail_v in_o this_o particular_a if_o it_o be_v holy_a and_o sanctify_a it_o will_v take_v more_o delight_n and_o joy_n to_o remember_v hegemonical_a and_o primary_n action_n have_v lose_v its_o power_n how_o much_o more_o be_v this_o true_a in_o the_o memory_n for_o the_o most_o part_n therefore_o the_o badness_n of_o the_o heart_n make_v a_o bad_a memory_n and_o a_o good_a heart_n a_o good_a memory_n man_n complain_v they_o can_v remember_v when_o indeed_o they_o will_v not_o remember_v their_o heart_n be_v so_o possess_v and_o that_o the_o cause_n of_o all_o they_o blockishness_n and_o forgetfulness_n about_o divine_a thing_n be_v thy_o sinful_a and_o corrupt_a heart_n if_o that_o be_v better_o thy_o memory_n will_v be_v better_o we_o have_v a_o notable_a place_n jer._n 2._o 32._o can_v a_o maid_n forget_v her_o ornament_n or_o a_o bride_n her_o attire_n yet_o my_o people_n have_v forget_v i_o day_n without_o number_n can_v a_o bride_n forget_v her_o attire_n and_o ornament_n it_o be_v impossible_a because_o her_o delight_n and_o affection_n be_v upon_o it_o but_o say_v god_n my_o people_n have_v forget_v i_o day_n without_o number_n why_o so_o because_o i_o be_o not_o that_o to_o they_o which_o ornament_n be_v to_o a_o bride_n say_v god_n if_o they_o delight_v in_o i_o rejoice_v in_o i_o if_o they_o do_v account_v i_o their_o glory_n than_o they_o will_v never_o forget_v i_o by_o this_o you_o see_v that_o therefore_o we_o forget_v god_n and_o his_o way_n because_o our_o heart_n be_v not_o in_o love_n
