that_o part_n of_o the_o inheritance_n which_o be_v not_o his_o own_o and_o which_o make_v the_o other_o to_o have_v recourse_n to_o our_o saviour_n not_o for_o the_o health_n of_o his_o soul_n as_o if_o we_o attain_v unto_o happy_a be_v we_o we_o have_v obtain_v the_o true_a good_a in_o which_o there_o be_v no_o mixture_n of_o evil_n the_o perfect_a good_a in_o which_o there_o be_v no_o defect_n and_o in_o which_o be_v all_o perfection_n god_n be_v a_o infinite_a ocean_n of_o goodness_n able_a to_o satisfy_v our_o desire_n in_o all_o thing_n in_o he_o be_v infinite_a light_n beauty_n truth_n love_n power_n safety_n &_o therefore_o in_o the_o possession_n of_o so_o infinite_a a_o good_a there_o be_v a_o unspeakable_a joy_n and_o perfect_a peace_n but_o on_o the_o contrary_a if_o we_o loss_n this_o true_a and_o last_o end_n we_o have_v lose_v all_o true_a good_a all_o joy_n all_o peace_n and_o in_o stead_n thereof_o incur_v damnation_n and_o eternal_a torment_n hence_o follow_v thought_n for_o the_o desire_n of_o his_o riches_n have_v blind_v he_o and_o have_v make_v he_o to_o be_v in_o a_o night_n of_o gross_a darkness_n whence_o all_o his_o thought_n and_o consultation_n be_v but_o dream_n of_o felicity_n full_a observe_v here_o how_o dreadful_a be_v the_o sentence_n of_o god_n against_o this_o man_n 1._o his_o death_n be_v sudden_a even_o that_o same_o night_n it_o be_v a_o fearful_a and_o dangerous_a thing_n to_o be_v take_v away_o in_o a_o moment_n job_n 34._o 20._o to_o be_v snatch_v away_o sudden_o there_o be_v none_o but_o will_v shun_v this_o and_o therefore_o it_o have_v be_v one_o of_o the_o petition_n of_o the_o christian_n church_n in_o her_o service_n from_o sudden_a death_n lord_n deliver_v we_o to_o die_v leisurely_o be_v more_o painful_a indeed_o for_o the_o body_n sometime_o then_o to_o be_v despatch_v sudden_o but_o very_o advantageous_a for_o the_o soul_n it_o give_v a_o man_n time_n to_o call_v himself_o to_o just_a account_n of_o thing_n past_a it_o give_v he_o leisure_n to_o censure_v unpartial_o the_o pleasure_n of_o sin_n and_o vanity_n of_o this_o world_n to_o detaste_v they_o and_o to_o mourn_v for_o they_o and_o so_o to_o perfect_a repentance_n the_o joy_n of_o heaven_n have_v leisure_n also_o to_o present_v themselves_o unto_o our_o mind_n and_o thus_o a_o man_n by_o mean_n of_o depart_v at_o leisure_n may_v exercise_v noble_a act_n of_o faith_n love_n hope_v and_o patience_n by_o mean_n of_o it_o he_o may_v also_o do_v great_a good_a to_o other_o it_o give_v he_o occasion_n to_o advise_v prudent_o of_o bestow_v charity_n it_o give_v opportunity_n of_o give_v instruction_n and_o comfort_n to_o other_o &_o of_o prayer_n for_o they_o and_o in_o a_o word_n of_o teach_v man_n how_o to_o die_v a_o right_n thus_o moses_n joshâ—ah_n and_o david_n die_v and_o so_o all_o good_a man_n will_v wish_v to_o die_v but_o this_o be_v deny_v to_o this_o wretch_n he_o be_v snatch_v away_o sudden_o even_o away_o in_o it_o and_o feel_v the_o smart_n of_o it_o by_o death_n and_o judgement_n this_o shall_v teach_v we_o to_o pray_v to_o god_n death_n to_o give_v we_o respite_n at_o death_n if_o it_o be_v his_o will_n and_o howsoever_o that_o death_n take_v we_o not_o in_o the_o midst_n of_o our_o folly_n but_o that_o in_o respect_n of_o our_o prepare_a mind_n it_o never_o be_v sudden_a for_o this_o cause_n we_o shall_v be_v ever_o on_o our_o guard_n always_o careful_a to_o shun_v that_o folly_n which_o may_v prejudge_v our_o soul_n if_o death_n shall_v overtake_v
we_o in_o it_o hence_o our_o saviour_n have_v command_v we_o to_o watch_v always_o because_o we_o know_v neither_o the_o day_n nor_o the_o hour_n of_o our_o lord_n come_v every_o day_n and_o hour_n consider_v that_o this_o be_v a_o point_n which_o we_o shall_v at_o this_o time_n deep_o meditate_v upon_o he_o who_o call_v we_o and_o offer_v himself_o unto_o we_o be_v no_o less_o than_o he_o who_o have_v power_n of_o life_n and_o death_n even_o of_o eternal_a life_n and_o of_o eternal_a death_n if_o we_o answer_v he_o and_o embrace_v his_o call_v we_o may_v look_v to_o have_v confidence_n joy_n the_o body_n the_o body_n will_v be_v call_v out_o of_o the_o grave_n and_o both_o will_v be_v call_v before_o the_o tribunal_n of_o god._n if_o thou_o hearken_v devot_o and_o obedient_o to_o his_o call_v here_o thou_o shall_v lift_v up_o thy_o head_n then_o be_v confident_a that_o thy_o redemption_n draw_v near_o when_o god_n say_v to_o thy_o soul_n at_o death_n come_v out_o thou_o shall_v encourage_v it_o and_o say_v go_v 〈◊〉_d my_o soul_n fear_v nâ—t_o it_o be_v the_o voice_n of_o my_o belove_a call_v not_o to_o destroy_v but_o to_o save_v thou_o it_o be_v the_o voice_n of_o he_o and_o the_o riches_n of_o the_o glory_n of_o his_o inheritance_n in_o the_o saint_n so_o there_o be_v a_o spiritual_a smell_n christ_n be_v anoint_a with_o the_o oil_n of_o gladness_n above_o his_o fellow_n his_o name_n be_v as_o ointment_n pour_v forth_o the_o good_a ointment_n of_o his_o divine_a perfection_n and_o heavenly_a virtue_n send_v forth_o so_o sweet_a a_o savour_n as_o make_v the_o spouse_n in_o the_o gant_n to_o say_v draw_v we_o and_o we_o will_v run_v after_o thou_o this_o the_o soul_n perceive_v by_o a_o spiritual_a kind_n of_o smell_n and_o the_o feel_n of_o it_o raise_v up_o most_o ardent_a desire_n and_o stir_v up_o to_o most_o earnest_a endeavour_n of_o the_o thing_n that_o be_v heavenly_a like_o wise_a the_o soul_n have_v a_o spiritual_a taste_n there_o be_v a_o unspeakable_a sweetnet_n in_o god_n in_o his_o divine_a mystery_n and_o obedience_n which_o may_v be_v taste_v by_o the_o soul_n of_o a_o spiritual_a man_n o_o taste_n and_o see_v how_o sweet_a the_o lord_n be_v say_v david_n as_o if_o he_o will_v say_v if_o you_o taste_v you_o will_v know_v the_o sweetness_n of_o his_o goodness_n mercy_n liberality_n and_o power_n so_o we_o may_v say_v of_o every_o divine_a mystery_n taste_v and_o see_v how_o sweet_a it_o be_v and_o of_o every_o virtue_n taste_v &_o see_v how_o sweet_a be_v obedience_n patience_n humility_n chastiry_n charity_n etc._n etc._n last_o there_o be_v also_o a_o spiritual_a touch_n hence_o the_o devote_n soul_n cant._n 2._o 6._o say_v his_o left_a hand_n be_v under_o my_o head_n and_o his_o right_a hand_n do_v embrace_v the_o sorrow_n which_o he_o speak_v of_o be_v a_o godly_a sorrow_n or_o a_o sorrow_n according_a to_o god._n 2._o he_o commend_v it_o from_o the_o fruit_n of_o it_o it_o be_v such_o a_o sorrow_n as_o work_v repentance_n even_o a_o repentance_n that_o be_v never_o to_o be_v repent_v of_o because_o it_o be_v unto_o salvation_n 3._o he_o commend_v it_o by_o oppose_v the_o contrary_a sorrow_n nam_o the_o sorrow_n of_o this_o world_n which_o work_v death_n that_o we_o may_v proceed_v the_o more_o clear_o we_o shall_v begin_v at_o this_o last_o point_n the_o sorrow_n of_o this_o world_n world_n the_o wiseman_n ecclestast_n chap._n 30._o 23._o and_o which_o be_v worst_a of_o all_o this_o sorrow_n lead_v to_o eternal_a death_n for_o god_n be_v offend_v with_o it_o it_o stir_v up_o a_o man_n to_o do_v many_o thing_n whereat_o god_n be_v offend_v and_o make_v a_o man_n guilty_a of_o eternal_a death_n so_o this_o sorrow_n be_v no_o matter_n of_o joy_n but_o the_o sorrow_n that_o be_v in_o the_o corinthian_n and_o which_o ought_v to_o be_v in_o we_o all_o be_v of_o another_o kind_n it_o be_v a_o godly_a sorrow_n or_o a_o sorrow_n according_a to_o god_n for_o better_a understanding_n of_o this_o god._n consider_v first_o that_o this_o sorrow_n which_o be_v according_a to_o god_n be_v such_o a_o sorrow_n as_o a_o man_n
