perseverance_n and_o so_o salvation_n of_o such_o as_o be_v in_o deed_n and_o in_o truth_n the_o saint_n of_o god_n be_v so_o sure_a and_o certain_a what_o mean_v those_o frequent_a caveat_n which_o we_o meet_v with_o in_o the_o scripture_n what_o mean_v those_o frequent_a exhortation_n to_o perseverance_n answer_n the_o perseverance_n of_o such_o be_v sure_a and_o certain_a howbeit_o god_n bring_v it_o to_o pass_v by_o mean_n it_o be_v wrought_v in_o they_o by_o god_n and_o yet_o their_o own_o endeavour_n also_o be_v require_v and_o these_o caveat_n and_o exhortation_n be_v the_o mean_n which_o god_n have_v sanctify_v for_o the_o exciting_a of_o their_o endeavour_n and_o for_o their_o preservation_n from_o apostasy_n caveat_n we_o have_v many_o and_o many_o threaten_n exhortation_n many_o and_o many_o promise_n such_o as_o be_v take_v heed_n to_o yourselves_o watch_v in_o all_o thing_n be_v steadfast_a and_o unmovable_a continue_v faithful_a unto_o the_o death_n and_o i_o will_v give_v thou_o the_o crown_n of_o life_n the_o latter_a end_n of_o backsliders_a shall_v be_v worse_o than_o their_o beginning_n etc._n etc._n by_o which_o and_o other_o like_a passage_n we_o be_v not_o to_o think_v either_o that_o perseverance_n be_v in_o our_o own_o power_n or_o that_o the_o condition_n of_o god_n peculiar_a people_n be_v mutable_a in_o regard_n of_o he_o but_o they_o do_v imply_v how_o prone_a we_o be_v to_o sin_n in_o regard_n of_o ourselves_o and_o they_o show_v that_o our_o own_o endeavour_n be_v require_v for_o the_o work_n out_o of_o our_o salvation_n and_o they_o be_v the_o mean_v sanctify_v of_o god_n for_o the_o prevent_n of_o sin_n and_o for_o the_o exciting_a of_o our_o care_n and_o so_o for_o the_o preserve_n of_o we_o unto_o his_o heavenly_a kingdom_n and_o whereas_o we_o be_v say_v to_o be_v keep_v by_o the_o power_n of_o god_n we_o may_v not_o so_o understand_v it_o as_o if_o we_o ourselves_o may_v in_o the_o mean_a time_n sit_v still_o and_o do_v nothing_o we_o be_v keep_v by_o god_n and_o yet_o we_o also_o must_v keep_v ourselves_o it_o be_v god_n that_o keep_v we_o and_o yet_o we_o also_o must_v watch_v and_o pray_v but_o we_o be_v say_v to_o be_v keep_v by_o god_n for_o our_o great_a encouragement_n for_o if_o our_o endeavour_n be_v sincere_a though_o they_o be_v but_o weak_a yet_o they_o will_v be_v effectual_a because_o we_o have_v such_o a_o mighty_a helper_n and_o withal_o it_o be_v to_o teach_v we_o to_o who_o we_o ougth_n to_o ascribe_v all_o the_o glory_n when_o our_o endeavour_n become_v effectual_a it_o be_v god_n that_o must_v have_v the_o glory_n of_o it_o for_o it_o be_v by_o his_o power_n that_o we_o be_v keep_v who_o work_v in_o we_o both_o to_o will_v and_o to_o do_v of_o his_o own_o good_a pleasure_n be_v strong_a therefore_o in_o the_o lord_n and_o in_o the_o power_n of_o his_o might_n he_o that_o be_v with_o we_o be_v mighty_a than_o they_o that_o be_v against_o we_o and_o therefore_o we_o through_o jesus_n christ._n now_o to_o the_o end_n that_o we_o may_v be_v the_o better_o comfort_v against_o all_o cross_n let_v we_o make_v use_n of_o these_o few_o consideration_n follow_v 1._o consider_v that_o it_o be_v no_o new_a or_o strange_a thing_n to_o be_v exercise_v with_o affliction_n neither_o be_v cross_n and_o trouble_v of_o themselves_o a_o argument_n of_o god_n hatred_n but_o rather_o a_o token_n of_o his_o love_n and_o a_o witness_n of_o our_o adoption_n if_o we_o bear_v they_o patient_o and_o make_v good_a use_n of_o they_o there_o be_v not_o any_o affliction_n incident_a to_o the_o nature_n of_o man_n which_o some_o one_o or_o other_o even_o of_o god_n own_o dear_a servant_n and_o child_n have_v not_o be_v exercise_v withal_o look_v upon_o david_n and_o
