danger_n by_o the_o minister_n of_o satan_n and_o by_o malignant_a man_n lay_v wait_n to_o do_v mischief_n our_o body_n be_v thuâ—_n daily_o and_o universal_o beset_v with_o peril_n require_v watchfulness_n in_o our_o way_n and_o walking_n but_o it_o be_v not_o in_o our_o power_n &_o wisdom_n to_o prevent_v the_o least_o cross_n much_o less_o able_a be_v we_o to_o defend_v ourselves_o as_o of_o ourselves_o from_o the_o hide_a and_o sudden_a misfortune_n of_o this_o life_n casualty_n and_o therefore_o have_v we_o need_v to_o leave_v our_o own_o self_n wisdom_n and_o providence_n though_o not_o our_o christian_a care_n and_o betake_v uâ—_n to_o the_o holy_a protection_n of_o the_o holy_a one_o of_o israel_n who_o guide_v jacob_n in_o his_o journey_n towards_o laban_n and_o the_o servant_n of_o abraham_n journey_v for_o a_o wife_n for_o isaac_n but_o they_o pray_v for_o good_a success_n so_o must_v every_o faithful_a man_n if_o he_o hope_v of_o the_o like_a otherwise_o as_o and_o way_n be_v full_a of_o hide_a danger_n which_o without_o thy_o protection_n can_v not_o but_o have_v fall_v upon_o i_o so_o be_v not_o this_o place_n whereinto_o i_o be_o safe_o retire_v by_o thy_o providence_n free_a from_o peril_n and_o therefore_o as_o thou_o have_v hitherunto_o keep_v i_o keep_v i_o now_o in_o this_o place_n wherein_o if_o thou_o dwell_v not_o by_o thy_o power_n and_o love_a favour_n there_o can_v but_o abide_v satan_n sin_n and_o vanity_n powerful_a enemy_n and_o able_a to_o surprise_v the_o strong_a natural_a man_n strengthen_v i_o lord_n above_o nature_n and_o contempt_n by_o custom_n and_o a_o kind_n of_o loathe_v of_o the_o word_n as_o a_o matter_n without_o the_o which_o his_o soul_n may_v live_v for_o as_o that_o meat_n wherein_o the_o pallet_n have_v no_o feel_n of_o a_o please_a taste_n delight_v not_o the_o appetiâ—â—_n no_o more_o can_v that_o word_n which_o be_v not_o savoury_a and_o delightful_a to_o the_o soul_n be_v please_v or_o profitable_a to_o the_o outward_a ear_n and_o consequent_o nothing_o comfortable_a to_o the_o unfeeling_a soul_n but_o it_o be_v not_o in_o the_o power_n of_o man_n by_o nature_n profitable_o or_o with_o comfort_n to_o hear_v much_o less_o to_o make_v true_a use_n of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n it_o be_v the_o gift_n of_o god_n to_o open_v the_o ear_n which_o be_v common_a to_o the_o good_a and_o bad_a hearer_n but_o a_o work_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n to_o open_v and_o prepare_v the_o heart_n to_o receive_v the_o word_n and_o to_o bring_v forth_o the_o fruit_n thereof_o without_o the_o
