false_a opinion_n in_o religion_n if_o the_o springhead_n be_v pollute_v the_o stream_n can_v be_v pure_a it_o be_v more_o important_a than_o man_n usual_o think_v for_o a_o good_a life_n but_o that_o upon_o the_o creature_n which_o by_o right_n be_v god_n peculiar_a this_o purity_n that_o true_a wisdom_n work_v be_v contrary_a to_o all_o pollution_n we_o know_v then_o in_o some_o measure_n what_o it_o be_v it_o rest_v to_o inquire_v where_o it_o be_v and_o there_o be_v the_o difficulty_n it_o be_v far_o easy_a to_o design_v it_o in_o itself_o then_o to_o find_v it_o among_o man_n who_o can_v none_o will_v deny_v but_o to_o be_v conduct_v thither_o by_o a_o constant_a light_n be_v both_o more_o safe_a and_o more_o delightful_a but_o be_v there_o any_o possibility_n to_o attain_v that_o end_n without_o this_o light_n the_o neglect_n of_o it_o be_v not_o altogether_o so_o strange_a the_o wonder_n of_o all_o be_v this_o that_o christ_n alone_o be_v both_o that_o life_n and_o the_o way_n to_o it_o and_o the_o truth_n or_o light_n that_o guide_v in_o that_o way_n yet_o christian_n so_o call_v shall_v esteem_v and_o look_v after_o he_o as_o little_a as_o if_o he_o be_v whole_o needless_a what_o mean_v thou_o o_o besotted_a sinner_n be_v it_o so_o light_a a_o thing_n to_o die_v in_o thy_o sin_n and_o eternal_o for_o they_o that_o thou_o will_v not_o so_o much_o as_o open_v and_o admit_v the_o light_n of_o salvation_n what_o shall_v thou_o pretend_v in_o that_o terrible_a day_n though_o all_o other_o kind_n of_o people_n shall_v offer_v some_o excuse_n thou_o who_o have_v hear_v the_o gospel_n shall_v be_v speechless_a for_o not_o only_o shall_v the_o rigour_n of_o justice_n condemn_v thou_o but_o mercy_n itself_o shall_v plead_v against_o thou_o for_o thou_o report_n of_o his_o worth_n that_o shall_v then_o serve_v the_o turn_n the_o intellective_a knowledge_n of_o christ_n the_o distinct_a understanding_n yea_o the_o orthodox_n preach_v of_o his_o gospel_n the_o maintain_n of_o his_o public_a cause_n and_o suffer_v for_o it_o shall_v not_o then_o be_v find_v sufficient_a only_o that_o peculiar_a apprehension_n of_o christ_n those_o constant_a flame_n of_o spiritual_a love_n that_o even_o course_n of_o holy_a walk_n in_o his_o light_n shall_v be_v these_o character_n whereby_o christ_n shall_v own_v his_o child_n and_o admit_v they_o into_o time_n very_o uncomfortable_a by_o the_o lose_v of_o these_o outward_a thing_n and_o yet_o the_o most_o part_n of_o man_n pass_v their_o whole_a life-time_n without_o one_o serious_a thought_n of_o the_o excellency_n and_o importance_n of_o their_o soul_n who_o life_n and_o happiness_n be_v of_o a_o high_a nature_n and_o neither_o consist_v in_o nor_o depend_v upon_o any_o thing_n here_o below_o hence_o it_o be_v that_o while_o they_o use_v the_o help_n of_o this_o present_a life_n and_o the_o defence_n of_o it_o when_o it_o be_v in_o danger_n and_o use_v they_o with_o so_o much_o diligence_n and_o attention_n the_o mean_n of_o that_o better_a life_n of_o their_o better_a part_n their_o soul_n they_o either_o use_v not_o at_o all_o or_o so_o slight_o and_o cold_o that_o they_o never_o find_v salvation_n in_o they_o you_o may_v find_v it_o some_o way_n in_o yourselves_o the_o threaten_n and_o preparation_n of_o man_n against_o you_o have_v awaken_v and_o rouse_v you_o more_o to_o think_v upon_o mean_n of_o your_o temporal_a safety_n but_o how_o few_o be_v sensible_a and_o afraid_a of_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n who_o as_o our_o saviour_n tell_v we_o can_v kill_v both_o body_n gross_a ignorance_n of_o god_n another_o in_o profane_a and_o licentious_a live_n and_o the_o great_a part_n in_o a_o formal_a and_o lifeless_a profession_n of_o religion_n without_o the_o power_n of_o it_o and_o yet_o where_o be_v they_o that_o lie_v it_o to_o heart_n and_o bestir_v themselves_o to_o rescue_v their_o soul_n from_o destruction_n certain_o whatsoever_o man_n profess_v it_o be_v unbelief_n that_o be_v the_o cause_n of_o impenitence_n man_n be_v not_o convince_v of_o the_o purity_n of_o god_n nature_n nor_o sensible_a of_o the_o impurity_n of_o their_o own_o therefore_o they_o apply_v not_o themselves_o in_o good_a earnest_n to_o the_o work_n of_o repentance_n and_o reformation_n the_o lively_a part_n of_o it_o labour_v then_o for_o a_o more_o active_a and_o practical_a rest_n god_n will_v not_o pour_v this_o precious_a oil_n of_o gladness_n this_o persuasion_n of_o his_o love_n into_o filthy_a vessel_n even_o his_o own_o child_n when_o they_o grieve_v and_o as_o your_o soul_n and_o so_o long_o as_o it_o last_v they_o shall_v be_v happy_a those_o good_n that_o you_o fear_v shall_v be_v pillage_v and_o spoil_v in_o war_n how_o many_o hazard_n be_v they_o subject_a to_o even_o in_o peace_n solomon_n tell_v you_o that_o riches_n oftentimes_o though_o no_o body_n take_v they_o away_o make_v themselves_o wing_n and_o fly_v away_o and_o true_o many_o time_n the_o undue_a spare_v of_o they_o be_v but_o the_o let_n of_o their_o wing_n grow_v which_o make_v they_o ready_a to_o fly_v away_o and_o the_o contribute_v a_o part_n of_o they_o to_o do_v good_a only_o clip_v their_o wing_n a_o little_a and_o make_v they_o stay_v the_o long_o with_o their_o owner_n but_o that_o by_o the_o way_n howsoever_o in_o the_o day_n of_o death_n and_o in_o the_o delightful_a in_o the_o night_n but_o to_o take_v it_o proper_o he_o be_v confident_a that_o in_o the_o several_a action_n and_o occurrence_n of_o the_o day_n he_o shall_v find_v the_o goodness_n and_o favourable_a assistance_n of_o the_o lord_n and_o then_o he_o resolve_v which_o lead_v to_o the_o other_o part_n of_o the_o text._n in_o the_o night_n time_n to_o meditate_v on_o that_o goodness_n and_o frame_v a_o song_n of_o praise_n to_o the_o author_n of_o it_o and_o indeed_o what_o be_v the_o whole_a thread_n of_o our_o life_n but_o a_o chequer_a twist_n black_a and_o white_a of_o delight_n and_o danger_n interweave_v and_o the_o happy_a pass_v of_o it_o be_v constant_o to_o enjoy_v and_o to_o observe_v the_o experience_n of_o god_n goodness_n and_o to_o praise_v he_o for_o they_o david_n be_v a_o wise_a king_n and_o withal_o a_o valiant_a soldier_n and_o yet_o we_o see_v he_o think_v not_o this_o experience_n inconsonant_n with_o either_o of_o these_o two_o condition_n this_o pecious_a book_n of_o psalm_n a_o great_a part_n thereof_o be_v he_o testify_v clear_o that_o prayer_n and_o praise_n be_v his_o great_a employment_n a_o religious_a disposition_n
