and_o provide_v for_o their_o soul_n welfare_n and_o whereas_o it_o be_v say_v though_o we_o have_v know_v 12._o §_o 12._o christ_n after_o the_o flesh_n etc._n etc._n it_o may_v refer_v to_o the_o apostle_n in_o who_o person_n the_o apostle_n speak_v though_o he_o himself_o be_v not_o concern_v with_o they_o who_o do_v sometime_o dream_v of_o be_v great_a in_o the_o world_n and_o share_v with_o christ_n in_o a_o earthly_a kingdom_n but_o now_o be_v better_o inform_v and_o attain_v to_o a_o high_a and_o more_o noble_a degree_n of_o spiritual_a understanding_n and_o affection_n they_o be_v crucify_v to_o those_o childish_a and_o carnal_a design_n and_o their_o consideration_n of_o christ_n in_o his_o glorify_a body_n and_o his_o exaltation_n in_o heaven_n at_o the_o father_n right-hand_n do_v raise_v their_o soul_n to_o a_o longing_n after_o a_o further_o and_o complete_a view_n of_o his_o glory_n and_o share_v with_o he_o in_o his_o heavenly_a kingdom_n this_o be_v suitable_a to_o the_o eight_o verse_n of_o this_o chapter_n which_o have_v some_o contexture_n with_o verse_n 16._o we_o be_v confident_a i_o say_v and_o willing_a rather_o to_o be_v absent_a from_o the_o body_n and_o to_o be_v present_a with_o the_o lord_n then_o christ_n be_v not_o in_o they_o as_o in_o his_o heaven_n and_o glory_n to_o conclude_v i_o beseech_v you_o who_o be_v engage_v with_o the_o quaker_n from_o the_o good_a opinion_n you_o have_v of_o their_o §_o 13_o tenet_n or_o from_o the_o other_o respect_n which_o may_v quick_o produce_v their_o entertainment_n do_v not_o think_v to_o be_v find_v once_o in_o the_o scripture_n and_o where_o the_o word_n be_v find_v which_o christ_n himself_o speak_v which_o be_v but_o once_o it_o may_v be_v a_o terrible_a and_o a_o seasonable_a monitor_n to_o you_o but_o if_o the_o light_n that_o be_v in_o thou_o be_v darkness_n how_o great_a be_v that_o darkness_n i_o beg_v of_o you_o once_o more_o to_o weigh_v what_o i_o have_v write_v in_o this_o chapter_n and_o beg_v for_o you_o that_o the_o lord_n will_v give_v you_o understanding_n in_o all_o these_o thing_n chap._n xvi_o the_o quaker_n be_v gross_a idolater_n and_o quakerism_n gross_a idolatry_n there_o have_v be_v great_a contest_v in_o the_o world_n sect_n i_o about_o the_o imputation_n of_o this_o character_n of_o idolater_n and_o what_o be_v idolatry_n some_o have_v contend_v that_o not_o only_o a_o false_a worship_n though_o of_o the_o true_a god_n be_v idolatry_n and_o by_o consequence_n that_o those_o who_o live_v in_o the_o practice_n of_o such_o a_o worship_n be_v idolater_n but_o also_o that_o any_o appendix_n to_o that_o worship_n of_o god_n which_o in_o the_o substance_n of_o it_o be_v true_a worship_n be_v also_o idolatry_n be_v of_o man_n invention_n and_o add_v by_o his_o own_o proper_a authority_n as_o a_o part_n of_o divine_a worship_n and_o that_o so_o do_v be_v a_o crime_n against_o the_o second_o commandment_n in_o the_o decalogue_n or_o ten_o word_n or_o commandment_n write_v in_o table_n of_o stone_n the_o proof_n of_o my_o charge_n against_o the_o quaker_n will_v not_o depend_v upon_o such_o nice_a and_o disputable_a premise_n but_o if_o there_o be_v any_o such_o thing_n as_o idolatry_n in_o the_o whole_a world_n i_o shall_v prove_v they_o guilty_a in_o the_o high_a degree_n and_o because_o this_o charge_n look_v very_o big_a and_o will_v be_v no_o small_a sin_n against_o both_o the_o principle_n and_o person_n of_o those_o concern_v if_o untrue_a and_o also_o that_o such_o a_o crime_n of_o they_o be_v not_o so_o visible_a to_o the_o world_n as_o may_v be_v within_o the_o cognizance_n and_o notice_n of_o all_o who_o converse_n with_o they_o i_o shall_v dispose_v my_o argument_n plain_o and_o formal_o all_o those_o that_o own_o and_o profess_v that_o to_o be_v god_n which_o be_v §_o 2_o not_o god_n be_v gross_a idolater_n but_o the_o quaker_n own_v and_o profess_v that_o to_o be_v god_n which_o be_v not_o god_n therefore_o the_o quaker_n be_v gross_a idolater_n my_o second_o proof_n be_v in_o this_o argument_n all_o those_o who_o worship_n that_o as_o god_n profess_o and_o according_a to_o their_o profess_a principle_n which_o be_v not_o god_n be_v gross_a idolater_n but_o the_o quaker_n do_v so_o therefore_o they_o be_v gross_a idolater_n my_o first_o argument_n i_o religious_a nature_n can_v discern_v their_o right_a hand_n from_o their_o left_a the_o minor_a or_o second_o proposition_n of_o my_o syllogism_n i_o be_o concern_v to_o confirm_v here_o will_v be_v the_o issue_n depend_v and_o if_o this_o be_v thorough_o prove_v no_o man_n convince_v thereof_o but_o will_v sit_v down_o by_o the_o conclusion_n that_o the_o quaker_n be_v gross_a idolater_n i_o shall_v manage_v my_o proof_n of_o this_o by_o these_o two_o §_o 3_o syllogism_n they_o who_o own_o and_o profess_v the_o light_n within_o every_o man_n to_o be_v god_n own_o and_o profess_v that_o to_o be_v god_n which_o be_v not_o god_n but_o the_o quaker_n do_v own_o and_o profess_v the_o light_n within_o every_o man_n to_o be_v god_n therefore_o the_o quaker_n own_v and_o profess_v that_o to_o be_v god_n which_o be_v not_o god_n again_o they_o that_o own_o and_o profess_v the_o soul_n or_o spirit_n of_o all_o or_o some_o man_n which_o be_v constitutive_a part_n of_o all_o or_o some_o man_n to_o be_v god_n do_v own_o and_o profess_v that_o to_o be_v god_n which_o be_v not_o god_n but_o the_o quaker_n do_v own_o and_o profess_v so_o therefore_o they_o own_o and_o profess_v that_o some_o have_v attempt_v the_o conviction_n of_o the_o quaker_n by_o show_v the_o natural_a faculty_n of_o light_n in_o man_n to_o be_v far_o short_a of_o what_o they_o ascribe_v to_o it_o i_o shall_v not_o go_v their_o way_n to_o work_v for_o so_o long_o as_o the_o quaker_n hold_v their_o light_n within_o to_o be_v christ_n or_o god_n it_o be_v vain_a to_o restrain_v it_o to_o less_o than_o not_o deny_v that_o there_o be_v such_o a_o man_n as_o §_o 2_o jesus_n the_o son_n of_o mary_n and_o that_o god_n be_v in_o he_o or_o rather_o christ_n be_v in_o he_o but_o this_o be_v no_o more_o than_o they_o profess_v of_o themselves_o that_o christ_n as_o god_n and_o the_o eternal_a word_n be_v in_o they_o yet_o that_o body_n of_o the_o man_n jesus_n which_o he_o call_v here_o the_o
