begin_v to_o rebuke_v he_o ver._n 32._o whereupon_o our_o saviour_n take_v occasion_n to_o reprove_v he_o and_o he_o do_v it_o smart_o ver._n 33._o but_o when_o he_o have_v turn_v about_o and_o look_v on_o his_o disciple_n he_o rebuke_v peter_n say_v get_v thou_o behind_o i_o satan_n for_o thou_o savory_a not_o the_o thing_n that_o be_v of_o god_n but_o the_o thing_n that_o be_v of_o man_n which_o seem_v to_o imply_v either_o first_o that_o peter_n be_v infect_v with_o that_o opinion_n so_o common_a among_o the_o jew_n who_o look_v for_o such_o a_o saviour_n as_o will_v be_v a_o great_a and_o mighty_a prince_n that_o shall_v deliver_v they_o out_o of_o their_o present_a misery_n and_o servitude_n and_o reduce_v they_o and_o their_o nation_n to_o a_o most_o flourish_a state_n and_o condition_n or_o else_o second_o and_o as_o a_o consequence_n hereof_o he_o reprove_v that_o his_o sensual_a and_o carnal_a spirit_n and_o intimate_v to_o he_o and_o all_o man_n that_o suffer_v may_v be_v as_o indeed_o it_o be_v opposite_a and_o disagreeable_a to_o all_o worldly_a interest_n but_o it_o be_v otherwise_o with_o he_o and_o all_o his_o follower_n for_o he_o be_v as_o you_o have_v hear_v to_o suffer_v to_o be_v reject_v and_o to_o be_v kill_v and_o herein_o he_o tell_v all_o his_o disciple_n they_o be_v to_o resemble_v he_o and_o must_v expect_v and_o prepare_v according_o ver._n 34._o and_o when_o he_o have_v call_v the_o people_n unto_o he_o with_o his_o disciple_n also_o he_o say_v unto_o they_o whosoever_o will_v come_v after_o i_o let_v he_o deny_v himself_o and_o take_v up_o his_o cross_n and_o follow_v i_o as_o christ_n be_v a_o man_n of_o sorrow_n and_o acquaint_v with_o grief_n do_v meet_v with_o wonderful_a difficulty_n and_o affliction_n so_o his_o disciple_n also_o must_v through_o much_o tribulation_n enter_v into_o the_o kingdom_n of_o god_n and_o the_o endure_a this_o to_o the_o utmost_a extremity_n even_o to_o death_n itself_o though_o it_o it_o but_o whosoever_o shall_v lose_v his_o life_n for_o my_o sake_n or_o the_o gospel_n the_o same_o shall_v save_v it_o ver._n 35._o and_o thus_o to_o procure_v the_o favour_n of_o god_n and_o to_o make_v a_o provision_n for_o our_o immortal_a soul_n in_o heaven_n whatever_o we_o do_v or_o however_o it_o cost_v we_o be_v both_o in_o itself_o more_o eligible_a and_o of_o great_a concern_n to_o we_o than_o all_o thing_n here_o below_o and_o be_v withal_o such_o a_o consideration_n as_o will_v make_v we_o most_o firm_a and_o steady_a in_o this_o holy_a faith_n and_o profession_n or_o expose_v shall_v it_o profit_v a_o man_n if_o he_o shall_v gain_v the_o whole_a world_n and_o lose_v his_o own_o soul_n or_o what_o shall_v a_o man_n give_v in_o exchange_n for_o his_o soul_n whosoever_o follow_a particular_n first_o a_o utter_a reject_v or_o renounce_v of_o he_o and_o his_o doctrine_n second_o a_o external_a denial_n or_o disow_v they_o three_o a_o recoil_n or_o aversion_n to_o some_o more_o difficult_a part_n or_o duty_n of_o religion_n four_o some_o action_n or_o proceed_n that_o be_v contrary_a to_o the_o real_a interest_n or_o advantage_n of_o true_a religion_n the_o evil_a of_o all_o which_o we_o shall_v better_o apprehend_v by_o a_o distinct_a consideration_n of_o each_o particular_a first_o then_o to_o be_v ashamed_a of_o christ_n and_o of_o his_o word_n may_v imply_v a_o utter_a reject_v or_o renounce_v of_o he_o and_o his_o doctrine_n and_o so_o may_v either_o refer_v to_o such_o our_o saviour_n speak_v of_o and_o threaten_v so_o severe_o matth._n 10.14_o
