will_v hold_v out_o this_o will_v last_v this_o kind_n of_o faith_n it_o will_v uphold_v the_o soul_n in_o the_o great_a strait_n in_o the_o low_a condition_n when_o sense_n fail_v and_o when_o experience_n be_v go_v out_o of_o sight_n why_o then_o this_o kind_n of_o faith_n will_v hold_v up_o the_o soul_n when_o the_o soul_n can_v trust_v the_o lord_n though_o he_o have_v not_o try_v he_o trust_v he_o though_o god_n have_v not_o give_v experience_n trust_v he_o first_o of_o all_o because_o of_o his_o word_n because_o of_o the_o word_n of_o his_o grace_n that_o be_v give_v forth_o to_o the_o soul_n as_o a_o foundation_n to_o build_v upon_o this_o be_v a_o honour_n indeed_o to_o god_n second_o be_v careful_a throughout_o all_o your_o 2._o caution_n 2._o whole_a course_n of_o life_n that_o you_o rely_v more_o upon_o the_o word_n of_o the_o lord_n then_o upon_o your_o experience_n throughout_o the_o whole_a course_n of_o your_o life_n you_o will_v find_v this_o more_o beneficial_a to_o rely_v upon_o the_o word_n of_o the_o lord_n and_o here_o i_o beseech_v you_o to_o remember_v that_o this_o life_n it_o be_v the_o life_n of_o faith_n it_o be_v the_o life_n of_o faith_n and_o not_o the_o life_n of_o sense_n in_o heaven_n the_o saint_n shall_v live_v by_o sense_n they_o shall_v have_v no_o need_n of_o faith_n the_o life_n of_o faith_n be_v not_o proper_a for_o they_o but_o the_o life_n of_o faith_n be_v proper_a to_o god_n people_n on_o earth_n to_o believe_v and_o not_o see_v faith_n be_v the_o evidence_n of_o thing_n nâ—t_v see_v it_o be_v take_v up_o with_o thing_n not_o see_v i_o say_v this_o life_n it_o shall_v be_v a_o life_n of_o faith_n unto_o the_o saint_n it_o be_v not_o a_o life_n of_o sense_n and_o consider_v moreover_o if_o god_n do_v give_v any_o spiritual_a sense_n or_o if_o he_o do_v give_v any_o experience_n of_o his_o love_n it_o be_v give_v for_o this_o end_n that_o so_o he_o may_v help_v the_o faith_n of_o his_o people_n that_o he_o may_v help_v their_o faith_n and_o strengthen_v their_o faith_n that_o so_o he_o may_v encourage_v they_o for_o the_o future_a to_o trust_v in_o he_o to_o trust_v in_o he_o when_o they_o see_v he_o not_o when_o all_o be_v dark_a and_o sad_a when_o god_n seem_v to_o be_v out_o of_o sight_n i_o say_v god_n give_v encouragement_n for_o this_o end_n that_o so_o he_o may_v encourage_v they_o to_o believe_v and_o therefore_o it_o be_v that_o oftentimes_o he_o train_v up_o his_o people_n in_o this_o way_n he_o will_v strike_v the_o crutch_n out_o of_o their_o hand_n he_o will_v put_v they_o to_o it_o they_o shall_v walk_v alone_o by_o faith_n that_o all_o the_o sense_n of_o god_n deal_n with_o they_o shall_v be_v out_o of_o sight_n they_o shall_v have_v nothing_o to_o rely_v upon_o god_n will_v put_v they_o to_o it_o to_o rely_v upon_o he_o alone_o upon_o a_o naked_a word_n of_o promise_n upon_o the_o word_n of_o grace_n to_o rely_v upon_o he_o though_o they_o have_v nothing_o in_o the_o world_n to_o rely_v upon_o 2._o consider_v though_o it_o be_v great_a mercy_n that_o the_o lord_n be_v please_v to_o condescend_v so_o far_o to_o the_o creature_n to_o give_v spiritual_a sense_n and_o many_o time_n experience_n by_o which_o he_o will_v seal_v up_o his_o word_n and_o his_o grace_n to_o they_o yet_o it_o be_v a_o great_a mercy_n that_o god_n have_v give_v a_o word_n of_o promise_n to_o rely_v upon_o that_o be_v the_o great_a mercy_n in_o the_o world_n asurer_n foundation_n of_o hope_n and_o that_o which_o will_v stand_v a_o poor_a creature_n in_o stead_n when_o it_o be_v in_o the_o dark_a when_o all_o the_o sense_n will_v be_v in_o the_o dark_a and_o experience_n out_o of_o sight_n but_o then_o the_o word_n oâ—_n the_o lord_n will_v endure_v for_o ever_o and_o so_o then_o to_o have_v a_o word_n of_o grace_n to_o rely_v upon_o a_o word_n of_o promise_n this_o be_v the_o great_a mercy_n that_o god_n can_v show_v to_o poor_a creature_n my_o brethren_n if_o it_o be_v not_o for_o this_o it_o be_v not_o possible_a that_o the_o soul_n shall_v be_v at_o any_o certainty_n though_o god_n have_v give_v never_o so_o many_o experience_n of_o his_o love_n though_o the_o soul_n have_v see_v and_o though_o it_o have_v feel_v and_o taste_v of_o love_n and_o though_o it_o have_v lie_v in_o the_o bosom_n of_o jesus_n christ_n and_o be_v refresh_v with_o his_o â—ove_n yet_o if_o the_o lord_n have_v not_o give_v a_o word_n of_o grace_n to_o rely_v upon_o aword_n of_o promise_n to_o rely_v upon_o it_o will_v be_v impossible_a but_o that_o â—t_a some_o time_n or_o other_o they_o will_v call_v all_o in_o question_n for_o it_o be_v not_o possible_a that_o otherwise_o the_o soul_n shall_v be_v support_v in_o dark_a condition_n for_o why_o when_o the_o soul_n begin_v to_o look_v towards_o god_n why_o it_o be_v fill_v with_o the_o sense_n of_o his_o own_o vileness_n with_o the_o sense_n of_o his_o own_o unworthiness_n oh_o that_o â—s_v one_o of_o the_o great_a discovery_n that_o the_o lord_n make_v show_v the_o soul_n how_o vile_a it_o be_v in_o itself_o and_o therefore_o i_o say_v the_o soul_n be_v ready_a to_o question_v all_o all_o that_o god_n have_v do_v for_o it_o though_o it_o have_v see_v god_n walk_v in_o a_o way_n of_o love_n to_o he_o yet_o still_o oh_o it_o be_v too_o good_a for_o i_o too_o good_a for_o such_o a_o â—ile_a creature_n as_o i_o be_o again_o the_o desire_n of_o the_o soul_n be_v carry_v mighty_o after_o god_n when_o god_n come_v once_o to_o set_v his_o face_n towards_o heaven_n it_o be_v fill_v with_o vast_a desire_n to_o god_n that_o it_o can_v never_o have_v enough_o never_o be_v satisfy_v and_o though_o god_n do_v come_v and_o manifest_v himself_o by_o gracious_a experience_n yet_o still_o it_o desire_v more_o of_o god_n it_o be_v apt_a to_o question_v have_v i_o any_o thing_n of_o god_n or_o no_o have_v i_o see_v god_n or_o no_o it_o be_v very_o solicitous_a when_o it_o be_v once_o set_v towards_o heaven_n god_n make_v it_o very_o solicitous_a concern_v the_o great_a matter_n of_o eternity_n it_o be_v fill_v with_o the_o weighty_a thingsof_n eternity_n and_o the_o weighty_a business_n of_o eternity_n so_o though_o god_n have_v come_v and_o have_v speak_v and_o the_o soul_n have_v see_v god_n and_o experience_n of_o god_n yet_o because_o it_o apprehend_v such_o great_a weighty_a matter_n concern_v the_o soul_n for_o eternity_n all_o experience_n be_v call_v in_o question_n of_o god_n love_n and_o his_o favour_n to_o he_o a_o man_n be_v so_o careful_a in_o this_o case_n that_o he_o will_v scarce_o believe_v himself_o nay_o though_o he_o have_v see_v christ_n and_o though_o he_o have_v feel_v he_o and_o see_v his_o go_n still_o he_o will_v hardly_o believe_v himself_o whether_o he_o have_v see_v he_o or_o no_o you_o know_v mary_n magdalâ—u_n she_o be_v very_o solicitous_a she_o stand_v weep_v she_o see_v he_o and_o she_o will_v not_o believe_v she_o own_o sense_n and_o so_o it_o be_v with_o a_o poor_a child_n of_o god_n oh_o it_o be_v so_o solicitous_a that_o though_o it_o have_v see_v christ_n and_o experience_n of_o his_o goodness_n and_o his_o favour_n and_o love_n yet_o it_o will_v scarce_o believe_v his_o own_o sense_n and_o he_o be_v apt_a to_o call_v all_o in_o question_n whether_o he_o have_v see_v the_o lord_n or_o no_o so_o that_o still_o i_o say_v after_o all_o experience_n and_o the_o manifestation_n of_o love_n the_o soul_n will_v call_v all_o in_o question_n many_o and_o many_o a_o time_n if_o iâ—_n have_v not_o a_o word_n of_o grace_n to_o trust_v to_o and_o therefore_o the_o saint_n be_v more_o beholden_a to_o the_o lord_n for_o his_o word_n of_o gruce_n to_o they_o then_o for_o all_o experience_n and_o remember_v this_o that_o though_o god_n have_v do_v vever_o so_o much_o for_o you_o and_o you_o have_v see_v hiâ—_n go_n in_o your_o heart_n yet_o do_v not_o you_o make_v your_o experience_n the_o first_o ground_n oâ—_n your_o trust_n and_o do_v not_o trust_v to_o your_o experience_n so_o but_o look_v to_o the_o promise_n as_o thâ—_n promise_v as_o the_o only_a foundation_n that_o will_v â—ear_v up_o your_o heart_n for_o ever_o through_o all_o dark_a condition_n and_o so_o for_o experience_n look_v upon_o they_o as_o crutch_n to_o lead_v you_o to_o the_o word_n of_o his_o grace_n but_o they_o be_v not_o to_o be_v rest_v in_o the_o four_o sermon_n on_o dan_n iii_o xxv_o he_o answer_v and_o say_v lo_o
danger_n eminent_a danger_n at_o such_o a_o time_n they_o be_v nigh_o to_o death_n and_o what_o great_a promise_n and_o what_o great_a purpose_n come_v into_o their_o heart_n and_o mouth_n and_o yet_o notwithstanding_o all_o that_o god_n have_v do_v for_o they_o they_o have_v turn_v again_o to_o folly_n nay_o sometime_o they_o have_v see_v and_o taste_v as_o it_o be_v of_o the_o power_n of_o the_o world_n to_o come_v that_o god_n have_v convince_v they_o many_o time_n of_o the_o excellency_n of_o the_o way_n and_o the_o necessity_n of_o walk_v with_o he_o and_o the_o happy_a condition_n of_o the_o saint_n &_o they_o it_o may_v be_v have_v have_v some_o taste_n some_o drop_n to_o cool_v their_o tongue_n and_o though_o they_o have_v have_v that_o miracle_n of_o mercy_n yet_o notwithstanding_o their_o heart_n have_v go_v back_o again_o and_o they_o have_v not_o be_v convert_v and_o persuade_v to_o come_v to_o christ_n after_o a_o hearty_a draught_n of_o his_o love_n and_o good_a ness_n which_o may_v abundant_o satisfy_v they_o other_o that_o have_v see_v even_o miracle_n of_o judgement_n god_n many_o many_o time_n have_v wrought_v strong_a conviction_n in_o their_o conscience_n they_o have_v be_v as_o it_o be_v for_o the_o present_a hang_v over_o the_o flame_n of_o hell_n and_o great_a thought_n have_v be_v dart_v into_o their_o spirit_n convince_a thought_n of_o the_o necessity_n of_o seek_v after_o faith_n they_o have_v see_v as_o it_o be_v the_o mighty_a consequence_n of_o the_o soul_n the_o mighty_a consequence_n of_o the_o thing_n of_o eternity_n and_o yet_o have_v wear_v out_o all_o hint_n that_o have_v be_v make_v upon_o conscience_n and_o soon_o return_v to_o their_o former_a way_n of_o folly_n to_o folly_n &_o desperate_a madness_n other_o take_v up_o in_o vanity_n take_v up_o in_o the_o world_n other_o take_v up_o in_o their_o own_o righteousness_n and_o think_v themselves_o whole_a and_o need_v no_o physician_n notwithstanding_o all_o these_o miracle_n of_o judgement_n how_o many_o be_v there_o that_o have_v see_v they_o and_o have_v feel_v they_o and_o have_v not_o be_v bring_v home_o saving_o by_o they_o but_o you_o will_v say_v how_o come_v this_o to_o pass_v what_o can_v miracle_n of_o work_n bring_v home_o a_o soul_n to_o god_n what_o then_o what_o miracle_n i_o answer_v first_o of_o all_o god_n will_v have_v it_o so_o that_o he_o may_v put_v a_o great_a glory_n upon_o his_o word_n he_o will_v reason_v 1_o have_v it_o know_v what_o the_o word_n of_o the_o lord_n be_v he_o will_v make_v know_v the_o power_n and_o efficacy_n of_o it_o his_o word_n be_v more_o dear_a to_o he_o then_o his_o work_n more_o than_o all_o his_o work_n of_o creation_n of_o providence_n or_o miracle_n though_o all_o perish_v yet_o the_o word_n of_o the_o lord_n that_o endure_v that_o abide_v god_n will_v put_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o glory_n upon_o his_o word_n and_o therefore_o he_o have_v choose_v his_o word_n rather_o than_o miracle_n though_o man_n think_v oh_o miracle_n be_v glorious_a and_o sure_o if_o god_n show_v miracle_n that_o will_v convert_v that_o will_v bring_v home_o the_o soul_n to_o god_n but_o god_n thought_n be_v not_o our_o thought_n his_o way_n be_v not_o our_o way_n he_o know_v that_o miracle_n can_v do_v it_o therefore_o he_o have_v choose_v his_o word_n he_o will_v make_v that_o glorious_a in_o the_o conversion_n of_o sinner_n for_o the_o most_o part_n god_n work_v by_o his_o word_n it_o be_v true_a the_o word_n itself_o neither_o can_v do_v it_o the_o word_n without_o the_o spirit_n be_v a_o dead_a letter_n but_o god_n be_v please_v to_o send_v his_o spirit_n along_o with_o his_o word_n when_o he_o intend_v this_o work_n the_o spirit_n of_o the_o lord_n shall_v come_v with_o some_o word_n from_o heaven_n that_o shall_v be_v effectual_a to_o turn_v the_o heart_n of_o a_o sinner_n when_o miracle_n of_o judgement_n or_o mercy_n can_v do_v it_o it_o seem_v a_o weak_a thing_n to_o man_n but_o the_o word_n of_o the_o lord_n be_v mighty_a and_o powerful_a when_o god_n be_v intend_v to_o catch_v any_o soul_n to_o bring_v it_o home_o common_o this_o be_v his_o net_n he_o take_v his_o word_n and_o throw_v that_o over_o they_o and_o that_o shall_v catch_v they_o when_o he_o be_v intend_v to_o beat_v down_o strong_a hold_n mighty_a tower_n of_o lust_n sinful_a imagination_n that_o do_v exalt_v themselves_o against_o himself_o and_o his_o son_n and_o his_o gospel_n why_o god_n be_v please_v to_o use_v his_o word_n as_o the_o battery_n which_o will_v do_v this_o great_a and_o glorious_a work_n second_o it_o come_v to_o pass_v from_o the_o desperate_a reason_n 2_o hardness_n that_o be_v in_o man_n heart_n that_o averseness_n that_o be_v in_o the_o soul_n natural_o to_o god_n it_o be_v the_o hard_a matter_n in_o the_o world_n to_o bring_v god_n and_o the_o soul_n together_o oh_o what_o strive_v be_v there_o in_o the_o gracious_a heart_n before_o it_o be_v bring_v to_o god_n it_o fly_v off_o from_o god_n and_o the_o soul_n be_v force_v to_o put_v argument_n upon_o himself_o it_o may_v be_v again_o and_o again_o why_o be_v thou_o cast_v down_o oh_o my_o soul_n why_o be_v thou_o disquiet_v why_o trust_v in_o god_n why_o trust_v in_o god_n he_o repeet_v it_o again_o and_o again_o and_o all_o too_o little_a to_o trust_v in_o god_n and_o to_o have_v confidence_n in_o god_n but_o there_o be_v much_o more_o averseness_n in_o a_o natural_a man_n heart_n to_o god_n there_o be_v a_o infinite_a distance_n there_o be_v a_o contrariety_n and_o it_o be_v a_o hard_a matter_n to_o bring_v off_o a_o soul_n to_o close_v with_o god_n to_o submit_v to_o he_o the_o great_a miracle_n in_o the_o world_n can_v do_v it_o why_o when_o there_o be_v much_o peace_n in_o god_n heart_n there_o be_v war_n in_o the_o sinner_n heart_n yea_o when_o there_o be_v peace_n in_o god_n mouth_n too_o there_o be_v war_n in_o the_o sinner_n mouth_n when_o god_n do_v call_v upon_o they_o come_v and_o behold_v the_o face_n of_o my_o son_n and_o behold_v the_o face_n of_o my_o righteousness_n i_o give_v thou_o leave_v to_o look_v to_o either_o i_o so_o thou_o look_v to_o i_o through_o my_o son_n yet_o still_o he_o will_v have_v his_o heart_n draw_v back_o and_o he_o will_v look_v to_o god_n through_o his_o own_o righteousness_n that_o of_o a_o creature_n or_o else_o run_v away_o from_o god_n hide_v himself_o in_o his_o own_o shame_n and_o confusion_n and_o dare_v not_o come_v to_o god_n and_o true_o it_o be_v a_o very_a hard_a thing_n to_o overcome_v the_o heart_n in_o this_o cause_n to_o trust_v god_n to_o rely_v upon_o he_o the_o heart_n be_v fillee_v with_o slavery_n and_o it_o be_v a_o very_a hard_a matter_n to_o overcome_v that_o slavery_n that_o be_v in_o the_o heart_n i_o tell_v you_o miracle_n will_v not_o do_v it_o though_o it_o shall_v see_v never_o so_o many_o miracle_n when_o it_o be_v in_o that_o condition_n miracle_n will_v not_o overcome_v the_o heart_n to_o trust_v in_o god_n to_o believe_v in_o god_n miracle_n they_o declare_v tâ—e_v power_n of_o god_n and_o the_o glory_n of_o god_n hold_v forth_o the_o beam_n of_o his_o majesty_n ay_o but_o there_o must_v be_v a_o declaration_n of_o the_o love_n of_o god_n and_o the_o mercy_n or_o god_n in_o christ_n there_o must_v be_v a_o discovery_n of_o this_o to_o the_o soul_n before_o he_o can_v come_v in_o and_o submit_v to_o god_n and_o trust_v in_o he_o before_o the_o slavery_n can_v be_v overcome_v that_o be_v in_o the_o heart_n i_o tell_v you_o you_o must_v have_v a_o word_n a_o sure_a word_n to_o go_v upon_o for_o the_o soul_n dare_v not_o go_v to_o god_n he_o look_v upon_o himself_o as_o stubble_n and_o upon_o god_n as_o a_o consume_a fire_n and_o still_o he_o keep_v off_o from_o god_n and_o therefore_o nothing_o but_o the_o word_n of_o the_o lord_n can_v persuade_v the_o heart_n to_o come_v in_o and_o to_o trust_v and_o point_n application_n of_o the_o point_n rely_v upon_o god_n now_o let_v we_o make_v some_o application_n be_v it_o so_o that_o the_o great_a miracle_n can_v convert_v a_o soul_n to_o god_n why_o then_o first_n of_o all_o take_v notice_n what_o a_o miracle_n of_o iniquity_n use_v 1_o of_o sin_n be_v in_o every_o man_n heart_n a_o strange_a thing_n that_o the_o heart_n of_o a_o man_n shall_v be_v so_o harden_v against_o god_n and_o his_o own_o good_a who_o will_v think_v it_o that_o there_o shall_v be_v so_o much_o stoutness_n in_o such_o a_o poor_a thing_n as_o the_o heart_n of_o man_n so_o small_a a_o pâ—ece_n of_o flesh_n to_o be_v so_o stout_a and_o so_o hard_a against_o god_n that_o no_o sword_n shall_v be_v able_a to_o pierce_v it_o it_o
where_o i_o be_v say_v he_o whether_o i_o be_v in_o the_o body_n or_o be_v take_v out_o of_o the_o body_n i_o can_v test_v the_o lord_n he_o know_v and_o therefore_o still_o i_o say_v there_o be_v no_o cause_n why_o any_o of_o god_n people_n shall_v inordinate_o fear_v affliction_n see_v you_o may_v meet_v with_o the_o presence_n of_o christ_n in_o that_o condition_n and_o the_o presence_n of_o jesus_n christ_n will_v countervail_v the_o loss_n of_o all_o creature_n comfort_n and_o the_o sweetness_n of_o it_o will_v be_v equivalent_a to_o the_o bitterness_n of_o it_o let_v thy_o condition_n be_v never_o so_o low_a that_o be_v the_o three_o use_n four_o let_v the_o people_n of_o god_n expect_v the_o presence_n of_o christ_n in_o their_o affliction_n in_o their_o low_a condition_n see_v christ_n have_v promise_v his_o presence_n do_v you_o expect_v his_o presence_n look_v for_o his_o presence_n oh_o that_o we_o may_v labour_v to_o improve_v our_o affliction_n for_o this_o end_n that_o we_o may_v meet_v with_o more_o of_o christ_n that_o we_o may_v enjoy_v more_o of_o the_o presence_n of_o christ_n in_o our_o affliction_n true_o there_o be_v a_o great_a deal_n lose_v god_n people_n loose_a abundance_n of_o sweetness_n which_o they_o may_v enjoy_v both_o in_o ordinance_n and_o in_o affliction_n if_o their_o heart_n be_v raise_v up_o to_o look_v for_o the_o performance_n of_o that_o which_o christ_n have_v promise_v if_o we_o will_v believe_v that_o jesus_n christ_n will_v be_v as_o good_a as_o his_o word_n do_v our_o soul_n expect_v the_o fuâ—lfilling_n of_o this_o word_n that_o â—e_n shall_v see_v the_o presence_n of_o christ_n in_o affliction_n why_o then_o shall_v we_o be_v so_o loath_a to_o suffer_v for_o christ_n and_o be_v unwilling_a to_o submit_v to_o pleasure_n oh_o what_o undervalue_v be_v this_o of_o thy_o poor_a soul_n i_o beseech_v you_o remember_v the_o worth_n of_o the_o soul_n do_v but_o consider_v how_o precious_a it_o be_v in_o the_o eye_n of_o god_n you_o that_o do_v slight_a your_o precious_a soul_n if_o 〈◊〉_d â—â—ed_v your_o body_n you_o care_v not_o if_o the_o soul_n starve_v oh_o that_o you_o will_v remember_v you_o will_v see_v what_o the_o psalmist_n say_v in_o psalm_n 96._o 10._o be_v still_o and_o know_v that_o i_o be_o god_n why_o in_o all_o your_o affliction_n in_o all_o your_o temptation_n in_o all_o your_o to_o trust_v in_o god_n for_o the_o future_a six_o mercy_n be_v help_n for_o the_o future_a when_o as_o the_o soul_n be_v enable_v by_o the_o spirit_n of_o prayer_n to_o urge_v god_n with_o former_a where_o there_o be_v everlasting_a peace_n and_o therefore_o here_o will_v i_o premise_v two_o thing_n and_o give_v you_o a_o caution_n how_o to_o rest_v upon_o former_a experience_n and_o so_o i_o in_o the_o presence_n of_o christ_n there_o be_v not_o a_o fullness_n of_o sorrow_n in_o any_o condition_n no_o there_o be_v a_o mixture_n of_o mercy_n in_o every_o condition_n the_o evil_a that_o a_o soul_n meet_v with_o be_v not_o infinite_a there_o be_v not_o a_o fullness_n of_o sorrow_n but_o in_o the_o presence_n of_o christ_n there_o be_v a_o fullness_n of_o joy_n there_o be_v that_o which_o raise_v up_o a_o soul_n in_o that_o evil_a condition_n and_o therefore_o you_o shall_v find_v that_o the_o presence_n of_o christ_n have_v make_v the_o saint_n to_o rejoice_v in_o tribulation_n to_o joy_v abundant_o the_o apostle_n rejoice_v that_o they_o be_v count_v worthy_a to_o suffer_v for_o the_o name_n of_o the_o lord_n christ_n it_o do_v fill_v the_o soul_n with_o holy_a joy_n heavenly_a condition_n and_o then_o no_o wonder_n though_o christ_n be_v with_o thou_o and_o thou_o see_v he_o not_o faith_n be_v the_o eye_n of_o the_o soul_n and_o if_o that_o be_v shut_v christ_n may_v stand_v at_o the_o right_a hand_n and_o the_o soul_n not_o discern_v he_o and_o therefore_o i_o say_v stir_v up_o thy_o faith_n go_v to_o the_o lord_n to_o strengthen_v thy_o faith_n and_o stir_v up_o thy_o faith_n faith_n show_v christ_n represent_v christ_n to_o the_o soul_n faith_n take_v hold_v of_o christ_n and_o bring_v the_o sweetness_n and_o the_o comfort_n of_o his_o presence_n to_o your_o people_n of_o god_n to_o be_v thankful_a to_o christ_n that_o have_v make_v this_o comfortable_a provision_n for_o they_o as_o this_o that_o he_o be_v please_v to_o walk_v in_o such_o a_o gracious_a way_n and_o to_o afford_v they_o most_o of_o his_o presence_n at_o that_o time_n that_o they_o stand_v most_o in_o need_n of_o it_o here_o be_v matter_n of_o thankfulness_n that_o the_o lord_n shall_v not_o leave_v you_o alone_o but_o aâ—â—ord_n you_o his_o presence_n here_o be_v matter_n of_o double_a thankfulness_n that_o the_o lord_n jesus_n shall_v not_o leave_v you_o alone_o in_o your_o afflict_a â—_z oh_o it_o be_v â—n_o uncomfortable_a condition_n to_o be_v leave_v alone_o woe_n to_o he_o â—hat_n be_v alone_o say_v the_o wise_a man_n if_o a_o man_n fall_v and_o be_v alone_o who_o affliction_n that_o he_o shall_v come_v himself_o to_o support_v and_o strengthen_v what_o a_o double_a mercy_n be_v this_o this_o be_v more_o than_o if_o he_o have_v send_v twelve_o legion_n of_o soul_n depart_v fâ—om_v thou_o now_o when_o god_n depart_v what_o follow_v nothing_o but_o desolation_n so_o in_o the_o prophet_n hosea_n see_v there_o what_o a_o dreadful_a threaten_n it_o be_v for_o god_n to_o depart_v in_o hosea_n 9_o 12._o though_o they_o bring_v up_o their_o child_n yet_o well_o i_o bereave_v they_o that_o there_o shall_v not_o be_v a_o man_n leave_v yea_o wâ—_n also_o to_o they_o when_o i_o depart_v from_o they_o there_o be_v all_o threaten_n sum_v up_o in_o this_o and_o more_o can_v be_v say_v wâ—_n unto_o they_o when_o i_o depart_v from_o they_o you_o see_v it_o it_o be_v the_o great_a mercy_n to_o enjoy_v the_o presence_n of_o christ_n if_o god_n go_v away_o all_o blessing_n go_v away_o with_o he_o woe_n to_o they_o if_o i_o depart_v now_o on_o the_o contrary_a when_o the_o lord_n jesus_n come_v unto_o a_o soul_n all_o blessing_n come_v along_o with_o he_o when_o christ_n come_v to_o a_o poor_a afflict_a creature_n oh_o what_o sweetness_n come_v along_o with_o christ_n there_o be_v comfort_n and_o there_o be_v refreshment_n there_o be_v grace_n and_o there_o be_v holiness_n and_o there_o be_v support_v there_o be_v life_n and_o light_n all_o come_v along_o with_o the_o presence_n of_o christ_n object_n ay_o but_o if_o i_o can_v find_v the_o effect_n of_o these_o may_v some_o soul_n say_v i_o shall_v labour_v to_o thirst_v after_o christ_n if_o i_o can_v find_v these_o effect_n of_o christ_n presence_n why_o then_o i_o may_v be_v comfort_v but_o alas_o i_o find_v not_o the_o effect_n of_o his_o presence_n and_o how_o then_o shall_v i_o think_v it_o to_o be_v his_o presence_n that_o be_v with_o i_o answ_n i_o say_v believe_v believe_v that_o christ_n be_v present_a with_o thou_o i_o speak_v to_o every_o soul_n that_o have_v make_v a_o close_a with_o jesus_n christ_n in_o the_o tender_v of_o grace_n i_o say_v it_o be_v thy_o duty_n to_o believe_v that_o he_o be_v with_o thou_o in_o thy_o afflict_a condition_n believe_v it_o though_o thou_o see_v not_o the_o effect_n of_o his_o presence_n and_o that_o be_v the_o way_n to_o see_v believe_v that_o he_o be_v present_a according_a to_o his_o word_n and_o through_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n thou_o shall_v see_v the_o effect_n of_o his_o presence_n only_a christ_n will_v have_v we_o to_o believe_v his_o word_n christ_n will_v have_v thou_o believe_v that_o he_o keep_v time_n and_o place_n with_o they_o and_o that_o he_o be_v with_o they_o in_o afflict_a condition_n yea_o he_o deal_v with_o his_o people_n as_o job_n friend_n deal_v with_o he_o they_o come_v to_o visit_v job_n in_o his_o affliction_n but_o sit_v they_o down_o seven_o day_n and_o speak_v not_o a_o word_n unto_o job_n and_o at_o last_o they_o find_v a_o opportunity_n to_o speak_v even_o so_o do_v jesus_n christ_n it_o may_v be_v he_o may_v sit_v seven_o day_n and_o not_o speak_v a_o word_n to_o his_o people_n he_o may_v come_v to_o the_o soul_n and_o not_o speak_v a_o word_n to_o the_o foul_a in_o a_o afflict_a condition_n all_o the_o time_n he_o sit_v by_o they_o and_o look_n on_o they_o and_o his_o heart_n be_v towards_o they_o and_o his_o bowel_n relent_v and_o he_o will_v break_v out_o at_o last_o and_o he_o will_v speak_v unto_o they_o it_o be_v long_o ere_o joseph_n do_v reveal_v himself_o to_o his_o brethren_n when_o they_o be_v in_o strait_n but_o at_o last_o he_o break_v out_o and_o say_v he_o i_o be_o your_o brother_n and_o so_o the_o lord_n jesus_n he_o may_v sit_v long_o before_o he_o speak_v a_o word_n oâ—_n but_o at_o last_o he_o will_v break_v out_o and_o then_o shall_v thou_o see_v that_o christ_n be_v present_a with_o thou_o and_o therefore_o it_o be_v thy_o duty_n to_o believe_v that_o the_o lord_n christ_n be_v with_o thou_o in_o thy_o and_o leave_v no_o blessing_n behind_o he_o sure_o where_o he_o come_v he_o bring_v a_o gift_n with_o he_o he_o do_v not_o come_v empty_a and_o therefore_o believe_v that_o thou_o shall_v see_v a_o blessing_n leave_v behind_o it_o may_v be_v thou_o may_v not_o see_v â—â—e_z gracious_a effect_n of_o the_o presence_n of_o christ_n in_o thou_o but_o believe_v the_o time_n be_v
you_o will_v seek_v salvation_n by_o work_n you_o rest_v upon_o your_o work_n and_o if_o you_o rest_v upon_o your_o work_n you_o break_v your_o work_n and_o both_o you_o and_o your_o work_n be_v like_a to_o be_v lose_v for_o ever_o and_o therefore_o know_v my_o brethren_n you_o be_v to_o do_v your_o utmost_a for_o god_n if_o you_o can_v do_v ten_o thousand_o time_n more_o all_o be_v too_o little_a for_o god_n but_o know_v that_o life_n and_o salvation_n be_v not_o purchase_v by_o your_o do_v work_v as_o much_o and_o do_v as_o much_o for_o god_n be_v as_o diligent_a in_o do_v the_o work_n of_o god_n as_o if_o life_n be_v to_o be_v purchase_v by_o work_n but_o when_o you_o have_v do_v your_o utmost_a renounce_v all_o and_o know_v that_o by_o your_o own_o work_n you_o be_v no_o more_o nigh_o to_o heaven_n then_o the_o very_a publican_n and_o harlot_n it_o be_v by_o the_o door_n of_o grace_n only_o that_o you_o must_v enter_v into_o life_n that_o be_v the_o three_o four_o when_o god_n call_v you_o to_o work_v with_o your_o might_n he_o do_v not_o call_v you_o to_o work_v with_o your_o own_o strength_n i_o beseech_v you_o take_v this_o caution_n along_o with_o you_o that_o poor_a creature_n may_v not_o think_v that_o they_o be_v able_a to_o do_v that_o which_o they_o be_v call_v upon_o to_o do_v i_o say_v the_o lord_n do_v not_o call_v you_o to_o work_v in_o
