have_v be_v think_v of_o these_o thing_n either_o immediate_o before_o he_o come_v or_o else_o his_o heart_n be_v too_o much_o carry_v out_o in_o the_o weekday_n after_o they_o 2_o thy_o heart_n be_v hard_a when_o thou_o wente_v to_o hear_v or_o read_v and_o it_o be_v no_o wonder_n if_o the_o seed_n fall_v on_o rocky_a ground_n that_o it_o do_v not_o grow_v up_o and_o bring_v forth_o fruit_n 3_o because_o thou_o wente_v not_o with_o a_o open_a mouth_n and_o a_o hungry_a soul_n to_o the_o ordinance_n that_o be_v another_o reason_n why_o thou_o be_v neither_o fill_v nor_o be_v satisfy_v with_o divine_a consolation_n few_o have_v go_v to_o hear_v with_o a_o full_a intent_n to_o hear_v what_o god_n will_v speak_v to_o they_o there_o and_o so_o have_v come_v away_o empty_a it_o be_v ordinary_a for_o saint_n in_o a_o weak_a and_o low_a estate_n to_o put_v up_o petition_n to_o god_n as_o low_a as_o they_o themselves_o they_o think_v it_o presumption_n to_o ask_v the_o great_a thing_n promise_v as_o adoption_n assurance_n etc._n etc._n and_o they_o be_v apt_a to_o think_v they_o do_v well_o in_o it_o then_o doubtless_o this_o come_v from_o a_o unbelieving_a heart_n which_o will_v seal_v the_o fountain_n which_o god_n have_v open_v and_o close_o those_o arm_n which_o god_n have_v spread_v open_a to_o receive_v sinner_n and_o to_o cover_v the_o breast_n of_o consolation_n with_o a_o vail_n of_o modesty_n which_o god_n take_v not_o well_o at_o our_o hand_n many_o saint_n will_v complain_v of_o their_o hardness_n of_o heart_n listlesness_n to_o pray_v read_v hear_v and_o this_o be_v the_o burden_n which_o they_o lie_v under_o now_o if_o i_o be_v to_o advise_v such_o a_o soul_n it_o will_v be_v thus_o let_v he_o cast_v all_o these_o distemper_n of_o soul_n upon_o his_o own_o self_n as_o the_o cause_n of_o they_o let_v he_o reflect_v upon_o his_o conversation_n have_v he_o walk_v close_o with_o god_n or_o have_v he_o not_o give_v way_n to_o looseness_n either_o in_o his_o carriage_n he_o have_v be_v too_o light_a or_o in_o his_o tongue_n too_o vain_a if_o he_o say_v he_o have_v set_v a_o watch_n over_o himself_o and_o resolve_v to_o walk_v more_o strict_o and_o yet_o will_v have_v such_o a_o one_o to_o take_v notice_n of_o what_o temper_n his_o soul_n be_v as_o to_o his_o own_o sin_n and_o if_o he_o find_v his_o heart_n hard_o and_o not_o able_a to_o mourn_v for_o his_o own_o sin_n it_o be_v no_o wonder_n if_o it_o mourn_v not_o for_o the_o sin_n of_o other_o so_o then_o i_o will_v have_v thy_o soul_n in_o this_o case_n as_o thou_o will_v in_o the_o other_o now_o as_o for_o thy_o own_o sin_n thou_o can_v satisfy_v thyself_o as_o to_o this_o case_n that_o thou_o can_v remember_v god_n have_v draw_v thou_o out_o in_o a_o melt_a frame_n for_o they_o so_o then_o think_v thou_o whether_o at_o any_o time_n when_o thou_o have_v be_v in_o a_o humble_a melt_a temper_n thou_o can_v then_o mourn_v for_o other_o sin_n but_o withal_o take_v notice_n of_o this_o that_o a_o mourn_a temper_n for_o other_o sin_n be_v a_o high_a attainment_n therefore_o pray_v thou_o for_o it_o that_o thou_o may_v continual_o be_v in_o such_o a_o temper_n and_o that_o upon_o this_o account_n because_o thy_o god_n thy_o father_n be_v dishonour_v by_o their_o sin_n labour_n for_o a_o tender_a regard_n to_o god_n glory_n and_o as_o to_o mourn_v for_o the_o sin_n of_o other_o so_o it_o be_v hard_o in_o pray_v for_o another_o saint_n if_o one_o hear_v that_o soul_n have_v receive_v that_o which_o he_o pray_v for_o to_o believe_v that_o his_o prayer_n have_v a_o interest_n in_o his_o deliverance_n and_o this_o be_v the_o reason_n why_o he_o can_v find_v his_o heart_n carry_v out_o in_o praise_n to_o god_n for_o the_o deliverance_n of_o that_o soul_n let_v such_o a_o soul_n take_v up_o only_o this_o consideration_n and_o know_v that_o his_o prayer_n have_v as_o much_o influence_n upon_o another_o as_o upon_o himself_o and_o so_o let_v he_o resolve_v himself_o but_o in_o our_o pray_n for_o mortification_n or_o comfort_n in_o our_o soul_n we_o be_v apt_a to_o miscarry_v in_o determine_v god_n time_n in_o our_o soul_n for_o the_o give_v of_o it_o as_o for_o instance_n suppose_v i_o pray_v for_o strength_n against_o my_o passion_n i_o be_o apt_a to_o determine_v god_n time_n to_o the_o next_o time_n i_o have_v a_o offer_n to_o my_o passion_n and_o this_o occasion_n great_a dejection_n to_o some_o who_o be_v apt_a to_o think_v that_o god_n do_v not_o hear_v neither_o do_v christ_n intercede_v nor_o the_o spirit_n help_v in_o that_o prayer_n therefore_o this_o be_v the_o advice_n i_o will_v give_v to_o all_o saint_n in_o this_o case_n let_v they_o pray_v for_o that_o which_o they_o want_v but_o be_v sure_o let_v they_o withal_o adjoyn_v patient_a corruption_n to_o overcome_v he_o or_o to_o get_v head_n to_o persuade_v himself_o that_o god_n have_v hear_v his_o prayer_n and_o that_o christ_n intercede_v for_o those_o prayer_n yet_o thou_o may_v know_v whether_o christ_n intercede_v for_o thou_o in_o those_o prayer_n first_o if_o thou_o be_v carry_v out_o in_o thy_o dependence_n upon_o god_n notwithstanding_o these_o prayer_n be_v not_o answer_v direct_o as_o to_o the_o conquest_n of_o thy_o particular_a corruption_n thus_o he_o deal_v with_o peter_n say_v christ_n i_o have_v pray_v that_o thy_o faith_n fail_v thou_o not_o and_o
