theft_n and_o they_o wicked_a man_n as_o they_o be_v although_o most_o subtle_o they_o play_v the_o fox_n according_a to_o their_o master_n doctrine_n yet_o in_o the_o end_n they_o will_v be_v after_o double_o punish_v in_o regard_n of_o the_o profit_n they_o get_v by_o deceive_v when_o none_o will_v believe_v or_o trust_v they_o in_o any_o manner_n no_o not_o even_o then_o when_o they_o past_a this_o then_o be_v the_o first_o evil_a proceed_n from_o machiavell_n doctrine_n which_o be_v that_o they_o themselves_o which_v practice_v it_o bring_v evil_a to_o themselves_o and_o be_v well_o all_o go_v well_o as_o in_o another_o place_n shall_v be_v show_v more_o at_o full_a murder_n and_o massacre_n also_o never_o remain_v long_o unpunished_a for_o god_n incontinent_a send_v example_n enough_o and_o i_o believe_v we_o shall_v see_v more_o in_o such_o as_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n have_v not_o yet_o touch_v but_o among_o these_o evil_n and_o inconvenience_n which_o for_o a_o confirmation_n of_o this_o maxim_n that_o which_o s._n paul_n say_v that_o we_o must_v not_o do_v evil_a that_o good_a may_v come_v thereof_o but_o i_o have_v already_o say_v in_o another_o place_n thar_z i_o will_v not_o employ_v the_o sacred_a armour_n of_o the_o holy_a scripture_n to_o fight_v against_o this_o profane_a and_o wicked_a atheist_n but_o i_o will_v still_o give_v he_o this_o advantage_n to_o contend_v with_o his_o own_o arm_n namely_o with_o profane_a author_n which_o be_v not_o christian_n and_o which_o herein_o alone_o resemble_v he_o for_o in_o other_o thing_n he_o hold_v nothing_o of_o they_o and_o especial_o in_o the_o matter_n whereof_o we_o speak_v they_o have_v be_v most_o far_o from_o his_o detestable_a doctrine_n when_o tarquin_n the_o proud_a king_n there_o want_v that_o the_o ancient_a roman_n delight_v in_o massacre_a and_o slay_v that_o they_o hate_v even_o the_o too_o rigorous_a punishment_n of_o offender_n as_o the_o punishment_n of_o expiation_n of_o sin_n the_o paynim_n also_o imitate_v this_o of_o moses_n his_o sacrifice_n that_o they_o immolate_a the_o like_a beast_n and_o reserve_v also_o a_o part_n of_o the_o beast_n sacrifice_v to_o eat_v so_o that_o thereby_o also_o it_o be_v clear_o see_v that_o the_o religion_n of_o moses_n be_v the_o primitive_a and_o first_o and_o that_o the_o other_o religion_n be_v but_o foul_a and_o lazy_a pourtrature_n and_o imitation_n thereof_o from_o hence_o follow_v it_o that_o our_o christian_a religion_n which_o draw_v his_o principle_n from_o the_o promise_n of_o messiah_n contain_v in_o moses_n be_v the_o most_o ancient_a of_o the_o world_n yea_o as_o ancient_a as_o the_o world_n itself_o for_o i_o will_v not_o vouchsafe_v to_o stay_v upon_o the_o refutation_n of_o the_o strange_a opinion_n of_o machiavelli_n and_o other_o ancient_a philosopher_n paynim_n which_o have_v maintain_v that_o the_o world_n have_v no_o beginning_n but_o i_o send_v they_o to_o empedocles_n plato_n and_o other_o ancient_a paynim_n philosopher_n which_o have_v maintain_v the_o contrary_a i_o think_v that_o the_o ignorance_n of_o the_o philosopher_n which_o hold_v that_o the_o world_n have_v no_o beginning_n shall_v something_o excuse_v they_o because_o they_o never_o see_v the_o book_n of_o moses_n and_o in_o a_o thing_n so_o difficile_a and_o hard_a to_o comprehend_v the_o spirit_n of_o man_n may_v easy_o fail_v but_o the_o impiety_n of_o machiavelli_n be_v no_o way_n excusable_a who_o have_v see_v the_o book_n of_o moses_n &_o yet_o follow_v that_o wicked_a opinion_n like_o a_o mocker_n and_o contemner_n of_o the_o holy_a scripture_n think_v to_o show_v that_o he_o know_v more_o than_o other_o he_o i_o say_v who_o be_v ignorant_a and_o full_a of_o brutish_a beastliness_n as_o god_n will_v i_o shall_v make_v know_v as_o for_o the_o simplicity_n of_o the_o christian_a religion_n herein_o it_o be_v see_v that_o the_o christian_n religion_n simplicity_n of_o the_o christian_a religion_n will_v know_v god_n as_o he_o will_v that_o we_o shall_v know_v he_o and_o as_o he_o have_v manifest_v himself_o unto_o we_o simple_o without_o pass_v further_o for_o they_o be_v not_o so_o presumptuous_a as_o be_v those_o foolish_a paynim_n philosopher_n which_o dispute_v of_o the_o essence_n of_o god_n and_o dispute_v upon_o that_o point_n fall_v into_o opinion_n the_o most_o absurd_a and_o strange_a of_o the_o world_n some_o after_o they_o have_v much_o dream_v in_o their_o brain_n conclude_v that_o the_o universal_a world_n be_v god_n other_o that_o it_o be_v the_o soul_n of_o the_o world_n other_o that_o it_o be_v the_o sun_n and_o other_o set_v forward_o certain_a other_o like_o monstrous_a opinion_n they_o dispute_v also_o of_o his_o power_n of_o his_o eternity_n and_o of_o his_o providence_n by_o natural_a reason_n in_o all_o these_o they_o know_v not_o how_o to_o resolve_v themselves_o therein_o for_o how_o be_v man_n so_o proud_a and_o insensible_a to_o think_v that_o his_o brain_n which_o be_v not_o half_a a_o foot_n large_a can_v comprehend_v so_o great_a and_o infinite_a a_o thing_n it_o be_v as_o great_a a_o foolery_n and_o grossness_n as_o he_o that_o in_o the_o palm_n of_o his_o hand_n will_v comprehend_v all_o the_o water_n of_o the_o sea_n a_o christian_a then_o have_v this_o modesty_n and_o simplicity_n to_o know_v god_n by_o those_o mean_n and_o according_a as_o he_o will_v be_v know_v of_o man_n believe_v that_o to_o have_v a_o will_v to_o pass_v further_o be_v to_o enter_v into_o darkness_n &_o not_o into_o knowledge_n from_o hence_o follow_v it_o that_o the_o knowledge_n which_o a_o christian_a have_v of_o god_n be_v the_o only_a true_a knowledge_n and_o that_o all_o the_o knowledge_n that_o other_o as_o paynim_n and_o philosopher_n ever_o have_v it_o neither_o be_v nor_o be_v any_o other_o but_o a_o shadow_n and_o imagination_n very_o far_o from_o the_o most_o part_n of_o the_o truth_n and_o touch_v the_o excellency_n of_o the_o doctrine_n of_o true_a religion_n herein_o be_v it_o first_o see_v religion_n the_o excellency_n of_o the_o christian_a religion_n that_o it_o be_v found_v upon_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n make_v to_o the_o first_o father_n from_o the_o begin_n of_o the_o world_n whereby_o all_o they_o that_o embrace_v that_o religion_n be_v assure_v that_o god_n be_v their_o father_n and_o that_o he_o love_v they_o and_o that_o he_o will_v give_v they_o eternal_a life_n by_o the_o mean_n of_o messiah_n can_v there_o then_o be_v any_o thing_n more_o excellent_a than_o this_o be_v there_o any_o thing_n in_o the_o world_n that_o can_v give_v more_o contentment_n or_o repose_n to_o the_o spirit_n of_o man_n than_o this_o doctrine_n for_o when_o man_n consider_v the_o brevity_n of_o his_o day_n the_o languishment_n and_o misery_n of_o this_o world_n full_a of_o envy_n enemity_n all_o vice_n and_o calamity_n will_v he_o not_o judge_v himself_o more_o unhappy_a than_o the_o beast_n if_o he_o hope_v not_o for_o a_o eternal_a happiness_n after_o this_o life_n the_o poor_a paynim_n have_v this_o consideration_n aspire_v to_o a_o eternity_n some_o in_o do_v worthy_a act_n whereof_o there_o shall_v be_v a_o perpetual_a memory_n after_o they_o other_o write_v book_n that_o may_v be_v read_v after_o their_o death_n other_o persuade_v themselves_o that_o the_o god_n will_v send_v good_a man_n soul_n into_o the_o elysian_a field_n and_o the_o wicked_a into_o the_o acherontike_a and_o stygian_a darkness_n yet_o be_v there_o some_o philosopher_n which_o dispute_v phaedo_fw-la cice._n in_o somn._fw-la scipi_fw-la plato_n in_o phaedo_fw-la that_o the_o soul_n of_o generous_a and_o valiant_a man_n after_o death_n go_v to_o heaven_n all_o these_o opinion_n and_o persuasion_n of_o man_n be_v but_o to_o give_v rest_n to_o their_o mind_n which_o judge_v man_n of_o all_o creature_n most_o unhappy_a without_o a_o eternal_a life_n after_o this_o but_o what_o assurance_n have_v they_o of_o these_o opinion_n which_o they_o give_v to_o themselves_o these_o poor_a people_n have_v none_o neither_o found_v they_o themselves_o but_o upon_o some_o weak_a and_o feeble_a reason_n for_o thus_o they_o argue_v that_o it_o be_v not_o credible_a that_o god_n who_o be_v all_o good_a will_v create_v man_n who_o be_v the_o most_o excellent_a creature_n in_o the_o world_n to_o make_v he_o most_o unhappy_a which_o he_o shall_v do_v if_o he_o shall_v not_o enjoy_v a_o happy_a and_o eternal_a life_n after_o this_o they_o also_o say_v that_o it_o be_v not_o credible_a that_o god_n which_o be_v all_o just_a will_v equal_o deal_v with_o the_o good_a as_o with_o the_o bad_a which_o he_o shall_v do_v if_o there_o be_v not_o another_o life_n than_o this_o wherein_o the_o good_a may_v receive_v a_o felicity_n and_o the_o wicked_a punishment_n for_o their_o misdeed_n but_o what_o be_v all_o this_o these_o be_v but_o feeble_a and_o weak_a petty_a reason_n whereupon_o the_o spirit_n and_o conscience_n of_o man_n can_v find_v no_o good_a foundation_n to_o repose_v themselves_o and_o to_o take_v a_o assure_a resolution_n of_o a_o salvation_n and_o a_o eternal_a felicity_n but_o the_o christian_n have_v another_o foundation_n than_o this_o for_o he_o know_v that_o god_n be_v of_o old_a go_v out_o if_o i_o may_v so_o say_v from_o his_o throne_n in_o heaven_n to_o communicate_v and_o manifest_v himself_o to_o our_o ancient_a father_n to_o speak_v unto_o they_o to_o declare_v unto_o they_o his_o bounty_n and_o love_n towards_o mankind_n he_o know_v that_o god_n have_v make_v they_o promise_n of_o messiah_n which_o he_o have_v since_o accomplish_v and_o that_o in_o he_o he_o have_v promise_v to_o give_v eternal_a life_n to_o all_o they_o which_o lie_v hold_v of_o that_o messiah_n and_o use_v his_o mean_n to_o come_v unto_o it_o these_o promise_n have_v be_v many_o time_n reiterated_a to_o our_o say_a father_n and_o in_o age_n well_o distant_a one_o from_o another_o that_o they_o may_v not_o be_v forget_v but_o that_o they_o may_v be_v so_o much_o the_o more_o clear_a and_o know_v of_o every_o one_o insomuch_o that_o the_o paynim_n themselves_o which_o never_o read_v our_o father_n writing_n have_v have_v some_o knowledge_n of_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n touch_v messiah_n they_o be_v so_o clear_a not_o orious_a and_o well_o know_v as_o we_o shall_v say_v more_o at_o full_a in_o another_o place_n hear_v they_o for_o a_o resolution_n a_o great_a excellency_n in_o this_o doctrine_n of_o christian_a
