nature_n 3._o from_o hence_o also_o we_o come_v to_o the_o knowledge_n of_o the_o true_a nature_n of_o the_o divine_a worship_n that_o see_v we_o consist_v of_o soul_n and_o body_n therefore_o must_v we_o offer_v both_o to_o god_n as_o our_o reasonable_a service_n for_o external_a solemnity_n and_o outward_a performance_n be_v not_o to_o be_v exclude_v out_o of_o the_o divine_a worship_n first_o because_o those_o immoderate_a pretence_n to_o spirituality_n be_v either_o the_o natural_a cause_n or_o necessary_a result_v of_o enthusiasm_n and_o fanaticism_n second_o by_o exclude_v those_o outward_a decent_a testimony_n of_o our_o inward_a devotion_n towards_o god_n we_o give_v occasion_n of_o scandal_n to_o heathen_n and_o those_o that_o be_v without_o for_o they_o will_v be_v apt_a either_o to_o entertain_v low_a and_o mean_a thought_n themselves_o or_o at_o least_o think_v that_o we_o do_v so_o of_o that_o god_n who_o we_o for_o aught_o they_o perceive_v do_v so_o rude_o worship_n but_o then_o on_o the_o other_o hand_n we_o must_v have_v a_o more_o especial_a regard_n to_o the_o soul_n for_o without_o this_o all_o our_o other_o performance_n be_v nothing_o but_o mere_a formality_n and_o hypocrisy_n chap._n ii_o of_o man_n as_o compound_v of_o soul_n and_o body_n what_o be_v the_o state_n and_o condition_n of_o the_o soul_n before_o its_o union_n with_o the_o body_n whether_o it_o enjoy_v any_o state_n of_o praeexistence_n or_o be_v then_o first_o create_v when_o first_o put_v into_o the_o body_n or_o if_o it_o do_v praeexi_v then_o in_o what_o manner_n whether_o in_o a_o pure_a separation_n from_o all_o matter_n or_o in_o conjunction_n with_o a_o etherial_a vehicle_n be_v not_o my_o design_n here_o to_o examine_v only_o it_o be_v observable_a that_o in_o thing_n of_o this_o nature_n where_o inclination_n rather_o than_o any_o cogent_a reason_n of_o belief_n take_v place_n in_o thing_n where_o providence_n have_v not_o think_v fit_a to_o give_v we_o a_o certain_a or_o determinate_a truth_n of_o thing_n there_o man_n be_v usual_o determine_v to_o this_o or_o that_o side_n of_o the_o question_n by_o very_o accidental_a consideration_n as_o in_o this_o case_n of_o praeexistence_n by_o the_o more_o or_o less_o favourable_a apprehension_n they_o may_v have_v receive_v of_o the_o platonic_a or_o peripatetic_a philosophy_n or_o by_o those_o previous_a notion_n they_o have_v entertain_v of_o providence_n to_o which_o they_o think_v this_o or_o that_o opinion_n may_v seem_v more_o agreeable_a nor_o second_o shall_v i_o consider_v man_n in_o his_o natural_a or_o physical_a capacity_n that_o which_o i_o here_o design_n be_v a_o essay_n of_o moral_a or_o political_n rather_o than_o of_o natural_a philosophy_n i_o shall_v not_o here_o inquire_v into_o the_o more_o explicable_a mode_n of_o sensation_n or_o intellection_n much_o less_o shall_v i_o attempt_v to_o explain_v those_o natural_a mystery_n of_o humane_a nature_n viz._n the_o particular_a mode_n of_o the_o soul_n union_n with_o the_o body_n be_v discourage_v therefrom_o by_o the_o difficulty_n of_o the_o thing_n and_o the_o unsuccessful_a attempt_n of_o some_o who_o have_v endeavour_v to_o effect_v it_o claubergius_n have_v a_o discourse_n particular_o the_o conjunctione_n anime_fw-mi &_o corporis_fw-la but_o whether_o he_o have_v leave_v it_o any_o whit_n more_o plain_a and_o intelligible_a than_o he_o find_v it_o i_o shall_v submit_v it_o to_o the_o judgement_n of_o those_o who_o will_v take_v the_o pain_n to_o peruse_v it_o his_o way_n be_v this_o the_o soul_n say_v he_o be_v unite_v to_o the_o body_n by_o those_o mutual_a action_n that_o pass_v betwixt_o they_o but_o more_o especial_o by_o those_o more_o confuse_a operation_n of_o sense_n and_o by_o the_o less_o distinct_a perception_n of_o mind_n and_o in_o his_o 37th_o chap._n he_o tell_v we_o that_o homo_fw-la alius_fw-la alio_fw-la &_o idem_fw-la seipso_fw-la diver_n so_o tempore_fw-la magis_fw-la minúsve_fw-la homo_fw-la censeri_fw-la debet_fw-la for_o according_a to_o he_o the_o denomination_n of_o a_o man_n as_o such_o consist_v chief_o in_o such_o a_o union_n of_o the_o soul_n and_o body_n which_o be_v more_o especial_o perform_v by_o the_o operation_n of_o sense_n now_o i_o see_v not_o why_o that_o especial_o shall_v denominate_v we_o man_n wherein_o we_o come_v the_o near_a to_o the_o nature_n of_o brute_n nor_o be_v there_o any_o reason_n why_o a_o contemplative_a person_n one_o who_o enjoy_v a_o more_o quick_a and_o lively_a exercise_n of_o his_o high_a faculty_n why_o such_o a_o one_o shall_v not_o be_v count_v as_o much_o yea_o more_o a_o man_n than_o he_o that_o live_v more_o by_o sense_n that_o the_o soul_n do_v make_v use_n more_o especial_o of_o the_o body_n and_o bodily_a representation_n in_o these_o action_n of_o sense_n be_v very_o true_a but_o if_o we_o inquire_v far_o how_o it_o be_v join_v to_o the_o body_n even_o in_o these_o more_o confuse_a operation_n the_o difficulty_n will_v perhaps_o still_o return_v nor_o shall_v i_o here_o dispute_v whether_o the_o soul_n immediate_o upon_o the_o dissolution_n of_o the_o whole_a frame_n or_o of_o the_o more_o principal_a part_n of_o the_o body_n do_v thereupon_o by_o its_o own_o activity_n quit_v its_o station_n and_o launch_v into_o those_o other_o unknown_a region_n or_o whether_o beside_o this_o there_o be_v not_o also_o require_v which_o seem_v as_o probable_a as_o immediate_a a_o act_n of_o god_n to_o take_v it_o out_o as_o there_o be_v to_o put_v it_o into_o the_o body_n only_o we_o may_v observe_v that_o god_n both_o by_o the_o light_n of_o nature_n and_o his_o reveal_v law_n have_v make_v the_o union_n of_o the_o soul_n and_o body_n so_o sacred_a that_o it_o now_o become_v absolute_o unlawful_a for_o we_o by_o lay_v violent_a hand_n upon_o ourselves_o to_o separate_v those_o who_o god_n have_v thus_o strict_o join_v together_o that_o whatever_o natural_a tie_n it_o be_v under_o as_o to_o the_o body_n it_o be_v certain_a it_o ought_v not_o to_o quit_v its_o station_n without_o a_o lawful_a warrant_n from_o its_o great_a commander_n i_o shall_v here_o rather_o state_n the_o question_n betwixt_o the_o stoic_n and_o epicurean_o and_o show_v their_o several_a error_n and_o mistake_n on_o either_o hand_n the_o one_o by_o ascribe_v too_o little_a to_o the_o body_n and_o too_o much_o to_o the_o soul_n the_o other_o by_o attribute_v too_o much_o to_o the_o body_n and_o too_o little_a to_o the_o soul_n in_o the_o account_n they_o give_v of_o humane_a nature_n the_o stoic_n will_v make_v man_n so_o whole_o rational_a that_o they_o will_v scarce_o allow_v he_o to_o be_v sensible_a and_o will_v whole_o exclude_v all_o natural_a affection_n and_o bodily_a passion_n out_o of_o humane_a nature_n and_o the_o epicurean_o on_o the_o contrary_a make_v all_o the_o most_o noble_a action_n of_o the_o soul_n mere_o subservient_fw-fr to_o the_o design_n of_o such_o pleasure_n as_o be_v real_o below_o the_o true_a happiness_n of_o the_o soul_n by_o the_o body_n here_o i_o understand_v all_o those_o passion_n and_o affection_n of_o the_o mind_n which_o belong_v to_o man_n more_o immediate_o upon_o account_n of_o the_o body_n all_o those_o motion_n and_o inclination_n of_o the_o inferior_a appetite_n so_o far_o as_o they_o be_v natural_a the_o design_n therefore_o of_o the_o stoic_n to_o root_v these_o passion_n out_o of_o humane_a nature_n be_v first_o impossible_a second_o it_o will_v be_v prejudicial_a thereunto_o be_v it_o feisible_a for_o these_o when_o due_o regulate_v become_v the_o subject_a matter_n of_o moral_a virtue_n and_o also_o add_v vigour_n and_o wing_n to_o the_o soul_n in_o its_o pursuit_n of_o virtue_n among_o the_o many_o charge_n bring_v against_o stoicism_n that_o of_o pride_n and_o arrogance_n seem_v the_o most_o obvious_a and_o the_o most_o unanswerable_a it_o natural_o tend_v to_o beget_v such_o haughty_a thought_n of_o one_o self_n as_o be_v indeed_o inconsistent_a with_o the_o state_n and_o nature_n of_o a_o frail_a and_o depend_v creature_n what_o a_o prodigious_a thing_n do_v they_o make_v their_o wise_a man_n far_o above_o any_o thing_n that_o be_v call_v mortal_a and_o in_o some_o respect_v equal_a to_o god_n himself_o as_o for_o repentance_n they_o look_v upon_o that_o as_o a_o mean_a thing_n far_o below_o the_o height_n of_o their_o attainment_n innocence_n indeed_o be_v better_a than_o repentance_n but_o for_o they_o to_o pretend_v unto_o it_o argue_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o pride_n found_v upon_o a_o bad_a understanding_n of_o their_o own_o state_n but_o this_o description_n which_o they_o give_v of_o a_o wise_a man_n be_v of_o some_o thing_n which_o perhaps_o they_o may_v fancy_v in_o their_o mind_n but_o
good_a fortune_n if_o its_o archer_n chance_v to_o hit_v the_o mark._n 2._o the_o subject-matter_n of_o those_o inquiry_n be_v many_o time_n of_o such_o small_a concernment_n that_o it_o be_v no_o great_a matter_n whether_o they_o do_v or_o no_o only_o both_o these_o be_v then_o best_o employ_v when_o they_o be_v make_v use_n of_o to_o explain_v or_o consirm_v some_o moral_a or_o divine_a truth_n 3._o the_o knowledge_n of_o ourselves_o do_v natural_o load_v we_o to_o the_o knowledge_n 1._o of_o the_o be_v of_o god_n 2._o of_o the_o nature_n of_o god_n 3._o of_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n 1._o thus_o we_o come_v to_o the_o knowledge_n of_o the_o be_v of_o god_n in_o as_o much_o as_o at_o first_o he_o stamp_v such_o lively_a character_n of_o himself_o upon_o our_o mind_n as_o speak_v their_o author_n thus_o both_o reason_n and_o religion_n tell_v we_o that_o god_n do_v not_o leave_v himself_o without_o a_o witness_n either_o in_o the_o great_a or_o lesser_a world_n i_o know_v there_o be_v some_o who_o deny_v any_o such_o natural_a notion_n or_o idea_n at_o all_o and_o particular_o this_o of_o god_n but_o i_o hope_v the_o contrary_a hereof_o in_o the_o sequel_n of_o the_o discourse_n will_v appear_v both_o pious_o and_o rational_o credible_a god_n at_o first_o create_v we_o after_o his_o own_o image_n or_o similitude_n more_o especial_o in_o respect_n of_o the_o intellectual_a and_o moral_a endowment_n of_o the_o mind_n now_o this_o seem_v most_o natural_o to_o suppose_v something_o actual_o existent_a in_o the_o soul_n wherein_o this_o similitude_n or_o resemblance_n shall_v consist_v and_o not_o only_o in_o a_o bare_a capacity_n or_o possibility_n of_o the_o thing_n afterward_o and_o by_o reslect_v upon_o these_o we_o come_v to_o the_o knowledge_n of_o he_o who_o image_n and_o superscription_n they_o bear_v thus_o do_v we_o sometime_o more_o perfect_o behold_v the_o sun_n by_o look_v downward_o into_o the_o water_n than_o we_o can_v possible_o do_v with_o a_o direct_a eye_n i_o shall_v not_o here_o enter_v into_o a_o particular_a examination_n of_o that_o argument_n how_o far_o the_o idea_n or_o notion_n of_o god_n in_o our_o mind_n do_v prove_v his_o real_a existence_n this_o be_v already_o so_o excellent_o do_v by_o the_o learned_a bishop_n of_o worcester_n in_o his_o orig._n sacrae_fw-la and_o by_o dr._n cudworth_n in_o his_o systeme_n etc._n etc._n only_o we_o may_v observe_v that_o since_o moral_a argument_n do_v not_o as_o mathematical_a one_o do_v force_v assent_n but_o suppose_v certain_a disposition_n of_o the_o subject_a upon_o which_o their_o prevalency_n do_v in_o a_o great_a measure_n depend_v therefore_o i_o conceive_v the_o persuasive_a force_n of_o this_o argument_n be_v great_a to_o a_o sober_a and_o considerate_a person_n within_o himself_o than_o perhaps_o it_o will_v appear_v to_o other_o for_o that_o which_o be_v very_o apt_a to_o prevail_v with_o such_o a_o one_o be_v to_o consider_v how_o agreeable_a this_o notion_n of_o a_o deity_n be_v to_o all_o his_o faculty_n how_o consistent_a with_o all_o those_o principle_n of_o tru●h_n and_o goodness_n which_o he_o any_o way_n find_v lodge_v in_o his_o soul_n so_o that_o from_o the_o consonancy_n of_o these_o how_o they_o mutual_o defend_v and_o support_v each_o other_o nay_o how_o there_o can_v scarce_o be_v any_o notion_n at_o all_o either_o of_o truth_n or_o goodness_n without_o the_o supposition_n of_o a_o god_n hence_o a_o considerate_a and_o ingenuous_a person_n be_v much_o more_o consirm_v in_o the_o belief_n of_o the_o thing_n thus_o d._n cartes_n be_v more_o full_o persuade_v of_o the_o truth_n of_o his_o philosophical_a principle_n because_o they_o be_v so_o consistent_a with_o the_o present_a phaenomena_n of_o nature_n and_o give_v such_o easy_a solution_n of_o '_o they_o 2._o from_o the_o knowledge_n of_o ourselves_o we_o come_v to_o the_o knowledge_n of_o the_o nature_n of_o god_n for_o we_o be_v conscious_a to_o ourselves_o of_o some_o action_n viz_o those_o of_o cogitation_n beyond_o the_o power_n of_o matter_n to_o perform_v and_o therefore_o to_o be_v ascribe_v to_o some_o be_v of_o great_a excellency_n and_o perfection_n than_o mere_a matter_n be_v capable_a of_o that_o be_v to_o a_o spirit_n hence_o we_o infer_v first_o the_o immateriality_n of_o our_o own_o soul_n and_o then_o the_o spirituality_n of_o the_o divine_a nature_n because_o what_o ever_o real_a and_o absolute_a perfection_n we_o find_v in_o ourselves_o that_o in_o the_o high_a degree_n must_v we_o attribute_v to_o god_n here_o i_o shall_v first_o prove_v the_o immateriality_n of_o our_o own_o soul_n and_o then_o make_v good_a the_o consequence_n when_o from_o thence_o we_o infer_v the_o spirituality_n of_o the_o divine_a nature_n 1._o the_o immateriality_n of_o our_o own_o soul_n or_o what_o be_v the_o same_o that_o matter_n can_v think_v and_o this_o one_o will_v almost_o think_v a_o needless_a undertake_n to_o prove_v that_o which_o the_o common_a sense_n of_o mankind_n do_v general_o agree_v in_o that_o be_v a_o thing_n in_o a_o great_a measure_n self-evident_a it_o will_v be_v the_o more_o difficult_a by_o any_o other_o argument_n to_o prove_v it_o the_o most_o effectual_a if_o not_o the_o only_a way_n to_o do_v it_o be_v to_o show_v the_o strange_a and_o absurd_a consequence_n that_o will_v follow_v from_o the_o contrary_a assertion_n there_o seem_v no_o great_a argument_n against_o the_o possibility_n of_o matter_n think_v than_o the_o unsuccessfulness_n of_o their_o attempt_n and_o the_o improbability_n of_o their_o way_n and_o method_n who_o have_v go_v about_o to_o explain_v it_o first_o they_o grant_v that_o matter_n itself_o unless_o so_o and_o so_o modify_v can_v think_v and_o it_o be_v altogether_o unconceivable_a how_o either_o the_o tenuity_n of_o the_o part_n or_o the_o most_o vigorous_a motion_n shall_v add_v to_o it_o any_o principle_n of_o perception_n which_o otherwise_o of_o its_o own_o nature_n it_o be_v destitute_a of_o nor_o be_v it_o render_v the_o more_o intelligible_a by_o place_v as_o mr._n hobbs_n do_v the_o nature_n of_o it_o if_o there_o be_v that_o it_o be_v impossible_a for_o such_o a_o be_v to_o cogitate_v neither_o of_o which_o will_v they_o be_v ever_o able_a to_o prove_v as_o for_o the_o be_v of_o a_o spirit_n they_o do_v indeed_o with_o as_o much_o strength_n of_o confidence_n as_o weakness_n of_o reason_n tell_v we_o that_o the_o notion_n thereof_o include_v in_o it_o a_o contradiction_n though_o this_o they_o do_v not_o as_o much_o as_o attempt_v to_o prove_v any_o other_o way_n than_o first_o by_o suppose_v a_o material_a universe_n and_o that_o nothing_o but_o matter_n be_v contain_v in_o it_o but_o this_o be_v to_o beg_v not_o prove_v the_o question_n but_o the_o essence_n of_o thing_n be_v unknown_a the_o notion_n of_o a_o spirit_n seem_v as_o obvious_a and_o intelligible_a as_o that_o of_o matter_n for_o we_o may_v as_o easy_o conceive_v of_o one_o thing_n to_o which_o we_o attribute_v cogitation_n as_o its_o immediate_a property_n as_o we_o do_v of_o another_o to_o which_o we_o ascribe_v extension_n and_o impenetrability_n and_o then_o suppose_v a_o spirit_n cogitation_n seem_v the_o natural_a result_n of_o such_o a_o be_v though_o i_o do_v not_o here_o go_v about_o to_o explain_v the_o particular_a way_n and_o manner_n how_o spirit_n think_v for_o it_o be_v hard_o to_o conceive_v how_o their_o own_o native_a penetrability_n or_o the_o reduplication_n of_o themselves_o upon_o themselves_o do_v any_o way_n explain_v the_o manner_n of_o cogitation_n we_o must_v satisfy_v ourselves_o with_o this_o which_o be_v as_o far_o as_o our_o most_o exact_a search_n will_v extend_v to_o that_o first_o and_o immediate_a property_n be_v not_o demonstrable_a of_o their_o subject_n neither_o as_o to_o the_o thing_n themselves_o nor_o as_o to_o the_o mode_n indeed_o sharron_n in_o his_o book_n of_o wisdom_n lib._n 1._o ch_n 7._o tell_v we_o that_o spirit_n and_o devil_n according_a to_o the_o opinion_n of_o all_o philosopher_n and_o our_o great_a divine_n be_v corporeal_a here_o he_o cite_v tertullian_n origen_n st._n basil_n gregory_n etc._n etc._n the_o name_n he_o mention_n but_o not_o their_o assertion_n or_o the_o place_n where_o they_o say_v so_o but_o this_o be_v a_o general_a accusation_n we_o may_v as_o easy_o deny_v it_o as_o he_o assert_v it_o but_o as_o for_o those_o place_n which_o perhaps_o may_v seem_v to_o favour_v his_o assertion_n i_o doubt_v not_o but_o they_o may_v and_o have_v already_o receive_v easy_a solution_n from_o one_o of_o these_o general_a consideration_n 1._o that_o either_o they_o assert_v the_o opinion_n of_o the_o platonist_n who_o yet_o be_v no_o favourer_n of_o a_o universal_a corporeity_n viz._n that_o soul_n be_v never_o in_o a_o perfect_a state_n of_o separation_n from_o all_o body_n but_o have_v certain_a etherial_a vehicles_n and_o so_o in_o that_o respect_n may_v partake_v in_o some_o sense_n of_o a_o corporeal_a nature_n or_o 2._o he_o do_v not_o right_o interpret_v those_o place_n of_o the_o father_n where_o perhaps_o sometime_o body_n or_o matter_n may_v be_v ascribe_v to_o the_o soul_n or_o angel_n but_o then_o by_o body_n there_o be_v to_o be_v mean_v nothing_o but_o substance_n or_o essence_n so_o that_o their_o sense_n be_v good_a and_o orthodox_n though_o their_o expression_n may_v be_v liable_a to_o exception_n and_o yet_o i_o think_v it_o be_v only_a tertullian_n that_o express_v himself_o in_o that_o manner_n the_o say_v sharron_n go_v on_o and_o tell_v we_o that_o whatever_o be_v create_v be_v compare_v with_o god_n be_v gross_a corporeal_a material_a and_o only_o god_n incorporeal_a i_o will_v willing_o here_o be_v so_o charitable_a as_o to_o think_v that_o such_o be_v his_o awful_a respect_n and_o veneration_n of_o the_o divine_a essence_n that_o he_o will_v not_o easy_o grant_v any_o thing_n else_o to_o partake_v of_o the_o same_o generical_a nature_n far_o be_v it_o from_o i_o to_o speak_v any_o thing_n that_o may_v in_o the_o least_o derogate_a from_o the_o excellency_n of_o the_o divine_a essence_n only_o we_o may_v consider_v that_o it_o be_v no_o honour_n do_v to_o that_o to_o depress_v other_o thing_n below_o that_o just_a order_n wherein_o god_n have_v place_v they_o this_o seem_v but_o a_o piece_n of_o will-worship_n and_o something_o like_o the_o opinion_n of_o those_o who_o think_v they_o can_v sufficient_o magnify_v god_n love_n to_o some_o unless_o they_o absolute_o damn_v all_o the_o rest_n thus_o also_o as_o if_o we_o can_v not_o sufficient_o magnify_v the_o spirituality_n of_o the_o divine_a nature_n unless_o we_o dispose_v all_o other_o being_n into_o the_o rank_n and_o order_n of_o corporeity_n 2._o though_o i_o do_v not_o assert_v this_o yet_o i_o will_v propound_v it_o to_o consideration_n whether_o it_o may_v not_o be_v possible_a for_o the_o nature_n of_o a_o spirit_n to_o admit_v of_o degree_n of_o excellence_n as_o to_o the_o very_a essence_n and_o substance_n thereof_o and_o not_o only_o in_o respect_n of_o its_o more_o accidental_a perfection_n yet_o so_o as_o that_o which_o we_o suppose_v of_o the_o low_a order_n to_o be_v perfect_o spiritual_a and_o contain_v nothing_o of_o corporeity_n in_o it_o and_o perhaps_o the_o logician_n mean_v this_o when_o they_o call_v god_n super-substantia_a but_o he_o say_v further_a if_o it_o appear_v that_o spirit_n change_v their_o place_n the_o very_a change_n show_v they_o be_v movable_a divisible_a subject_a to_o time_n and_o the_o succession_n thereof_o etc._n etc._n which_o be_v all_o quality_n of_o a_o body_n but_o here_o i_o will_v only_o ask_v whether_o the_o existence_n of_o a_o spirit_n be_v possible_a or_o whether_o god_n can_v have_v create_v such_o a_o be_v or_o no_o if_o he_o can_v than_o his_o argument_n prove_v nothing_o for_o suppose_v such_o a_o be_v it_o must_v move_v and_o be_v in_o a_o place_n just_a in_o such_o a_o manner_n as_o we_o now_o suppose_v soul_n and_o angel_n to_o be_v and_o move_v and_o the_o argument_n will_v have_v the_o same_o force_n if_o we_o either_o suppose_v or_o be_v on_o all_o side_n assure_v of_o the_o actual_a be_v that_o it_o have_v now_o so_o that_o it_o either_o prove_v the_o impossibility_n of_o a_o spirit_n or_o else_o nothing_o at_o all_o to_o the_o purpose_n this_o be_v only_o such_o a_o objection_n or_o such_o a_o difficulty_n as_o will_v lie_v against_o a_o acknowledge_a truth_n i_o shall_v now_o second_o show_v how_o from_o hence_o we_o just_o infer_v the_o spirituality_n of_o the_o divine_a nature_n but_o i_o shall_v not_o need_v to_o spend_v any_o time_n herein_o for_o though_o there_o have_v be_v some_o who_o grant_v the_o immateriality_n of_o the_o divine_a nature_n have_v yet_o assert_v the_o corporeity_n of_o the_o soul_n yet_o there_o never_o be_v any_o who_o grant_v the_o soul_n to_o be_v immaterial_a ever_o assert_v god_n to_o be_v corporeal_a as_o for_o those_o who_o assert_v a_o material_a universe_n and_o a_o corporeal_a deity_n they_o may_v perhaps_o nomine_fw-la ponere_fw-la but_o indeed_o they_o do_v re_fw-mi tollere_fw-la deum_fw-la for_o a_o corporeal_a deity_n be_v inconsistent_a with_o the_o notion_n we_o have_v of_o god_n uncapable_a of_o the_o perfection_n we_o ascribe_v to_o he_o and_o unable_a to_o perform_v such_o action_n as_o do_v proper_o belong_v to_o such_o a_o be_v but_o however_o those_o
