faith_n in_o time_n of_o temptation_n what_o be_v those_o stroke_n that_o satan_n give_v unto_o our_o faith_n and_o how_o shall_v we_o be_v able_a to_o bare_v they_o off_o in_o the_o general_a answ_n faith_n will_v be_v soon_o weaken_v this_o satan_n labour_v to_o do_v sometime_o sometime_o again_o he_o raise_v up_o mountain_n of_o difficulty_n and_o discouragement_n in_o the_o way_n of_o a_o christian_n obedience_n and_o so_o labour_v to_o wound_v his_o faith_n throw_v water_n upon_o the_o fire_n it_o will_v soon_o be_v out_o but_o that_o i_o may_v speak_v the_o more_o full_o unto_o this_o great_a question_n the_o answer_n whereof_o be_v of_o concernment_n every_o day_n among_o you_o you_o know_v there_o the_o three_o act_n of_o faith_n there_o be_v the_o faith_n of_o reliance_n the_o saint_n from_o they_o and_o so_o do_v strike_v at_o their_o faith_n and_o labour_n to_o make_v their_o faith_n fail_v but_o then_o how_o shall_v we_o bear_v off_o this_o blow_n quest_n thus_o take_v heed_n that_o you_o never_o rest_v upon_o the_o promise_n bare_o answ_n 1_o or_o only_o because_o of_o your_o experience_n but_o rather_o deal_v with_o your_o experience_n because_o of_o the_o promise_n it_o be_v a_o good_a thing_n for_o a_o man_n to_o come_v up_o to_o the_o promise_n by_o the_o ladder_n of_o experience_n but_o it_o be_v better_a for_o a_o man_n to_o go_v down_o to_o the_o promise_n by_o his_o experience_n and_o if_o you_o look_v into_o the_o 106._o psalm_n you_o shall_v find_v that_o when_o a_o man_n do_v rest_n upon_o the_o promise_n bare_o by_o reason_n of_o his_o experience_n his_o faith_n will_v soon_o fail_v the_o water_n cover_v their_o enemy_n at_o the_o 11._o verse_n it_o be_v speak_v of_o the_o israelite_n when_o they_o come_v through_o the_o red_a sea_n experience_n for_o if_o your_o experience_n be_v but_o out_o of_o the_o way_n a_o little_a than_o your_o heart_n will_v fail_v and_o your_o faith_n fail_v present_o take_v heed_n that_o you_o never_o mourn_v for_o any_o evil_n answ_n 2_o no_o not_o for_o sin_n itself_o so_o as_o to_o be_v unthankful_a for_o or_o unmindful_a of_o former_a mercy_n we_o be_v very_o apt_a to_o this_o and_o satan_n he_o come_v and_o tempt_v and_o say_v unto_o a_o poor_a soul_n be_v you_o speak_v of_o former_a mercy_n or_o blessing_n to_o be_v thanful_a for_o they_o that_o be_v a_o good_a work_n for_o other_o but_o as_o for_o you_o you_o have_v commit_v such_o a_o sin_n and_o it_o be_v your_o duty_n now_o to_o mourn_v for_o your_o sin_n commit_v look_v you_o to_o that_o to_o be_v humble_v apply_v yourself_o to_o that_o work_n and_o so_o when_o he_o have_v get_v a_o man_n heart_n fix_v upon_o that_o work_n in_o opposition_n to_o thankfulness_n for_o former_a mercy_n receive_v the_o soul_n lose_v the_o sight_n of_o his_o experience_n and_o so_o his_o faith_n fail_v in_o the_o time_n of_o temptation_n

highpriest_n be_v beyond_o all_o the_o high-priest_n that_o ever_o be_v before_o he_o and_o therefore_o there_o be_v never_o a_o poor_a christian_a but_o he_o may_v go_v to_o the_o lord_n christ_n his_o favour_n and_o acceptance_n answ_n for_o our_o acceptance_n and_o do_v plant_v all_o our_o prayer_n and_o duty_n upon_o his_o own_o acceptance_n lord_n say_v he_o unto_o his_o father_n concern_v believer_n i_o will_v that_o where_o i_o be_o they_o may_v be_v also_o i_o will_v o_o lord_n that_o they_o may_v be_v one_o even_o as_o thou_o father_n and_o i_o be_o one_o he_o do_v not_o count_v himself_o full_a and_o happy_a but_o in_o the_o happiness_n and_o fullness_n of_o the_o church_n and_o therefore_o as_o christ_n be_v call_v the_o fullness_n of_o god_n the_o father_n so_o the_o lord_n i_o be_o in_o a_o wicked_a and_o a_o wretched_a family_n that_o do_v oppose_v prayer_n lord_n may_v be_v thou_o do_v take_v notice_n of_o my_o prayer_n but_o thou_o do_v not_o take_v notice_n of_o this_o circumstance_n yes_o say_v he_o i_o know_v thy_o work_n and_o where_o thou_o dwell_v even_o where_o satan_n seat_n be_v well_o and_o thou_o hold_v fast_v my_o name_n and_o have_v not_o deny_v my_o faith_n even_o in_o those_o day_n wherein_o antipas_n be_v my_o faithful_a martyr_n who_o be_v slay_v among_o you_o where_o satan_n dwell_v it_o be_v remarkable_a the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n take_v notice_n not_o only_o of_o our_o duty_n but_o of_o every_o circumstance_n of_o the_o duty_n and_o so_o he_o present_v it_o unto_o god_n the_o father_n not_o only_o the_o duty_n but_o the_o circumstance_n of_o the_o duty_n and_o therefore_o there_o be_v not_o a_o hair_n of_o your_o duty_n lose_v not_o one_o grain_n of_o your_o duty_n lose_v be_v not_o this_o a_o unspeakable_a comfort_n unto_o a_o poor_a soul_n that_o it_o know_v that_o nothing_o be_v lose_v of_o all_o the_o prayer_n it_o have_v make_v unto_o god_n that_o there_o be_v no_o loss_n at_o all_o the_o very_a pant_n of_o our_o heart_n at_o the_o throne_n of_o grace_n be_v receive_v into_o the_o bosom_n of_o our_o heavenly_a father_n further_o be_v it_o not_o a_o comfort_n for_o a_o man_n to_o have_v liberty_n to_o go_v unto_o the_o mercy-seat_n and_o there_o for_o to_o meet_v with_o god_n it_o be_v say_v of_o wicked_a man_n that_o they_o sit_v in_o the_o seat_n of_o the_o scornful_a there_o be_v it_o seem_v then_o the_o seat_n of_o the_o scornful_a and_o there_o be_v a_o mercy-seat_n a_o drunkard_n when_o he_o be_v with_o his_o drunken_a company_n and_o sit_v upon_o the_o alebench_n it_o may_v be_v scorn_v and_o jeer_v at_o some_o of_o the_o godly_a make_v song_n on_o they_o he_o be_v set_v upon_o the_o seat_n of_o the_o scornful_a that_o be_v a_o curse_a seat_n i_o but_o there_o be_v another_o seat_n there_o be_v a_o mercy-seat_n and_o there_o be_v never_o a_o poor_a saint_n and_o child_n of_o god_n
for_o ever_o keep_v i_o from_o opposition_n to_o the_o good_a way_n of_o god_n i_o have_v say_v sometime_o may_n a_o wicked_a man_n say_v concern_v godly_a man_n duty_n that_o it_o be_v their_o hypocrisy_n and_o i_o have_v say_v concern_v such_o and_o such_o professor_n this_o be_v your_o pride_n and_o this_o be_v your_o singularity_n and_o i_o have_v oppose_v with_o all_o bitterness_n and_o earnestness_n the_o praying_n and_o wrestle_n of_o some_o of_o god_n people_n but_o be_v this_o true_a that_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n take_v every_o prayer_n of_o the_o mean_a of_o god_n child_n and_o carry_v it_o into_o the_o bosom_n of_o god_n the_o father_n and_o shall_v i_o spit_v upon_o that_o that_o christ_n own_v shall_v i_o dare_v to_o oppose_v that_o that_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n present_v unto_o his_o father_n the_o lord_n in_o mercy_n pardon_v i_o i_o have_v sin_v and_o do_v foolish_o and_o for_o aught_o i_o know_v i_o may_v have_v speak_v evil_a of_o that_o duty_n that_o christ_n have_v carry_v into_o the_o presence_n of_o god_n the_o father_n oh_o through_o the_o lord_n grace_v then_o for_o ever_o will_v i_o leave_v to_o make_v any_o opposition_n against_o any_o of_o the_o good_a way_n of_o god_n again_o and_o i_o will_v never_o speak_v one_o word_n against_o the_o person_n meeting_n or_o supplication_n of_o the_o godly_a again_o again_o in_o case_n a_o man_n be_v ungodly_a a_o wicked_a man_n here_o be_v mighty_a encouragement_n for_o to_o come_v unto_o jesus_n christ_n i_o and_o to_o come_v present_o for_o be_v jesus_n christ_n the_o ladder_n that_o jacob_n see_v by_o who_o we_o go_v up_o to_o heaven_n do_v he_o take_v all_o our_o duty_n and_o prayer_n and_o present_v they_o to_o god_n the_o father_n for_o acceptance_n then_o till_o i_o do_v come_v to_o christ_n all_o be_v nothing_o all_o be_v lose_v if_o i_o be_v a_o drunkard_n and_o will_v not_o come_v to_o christ_n prayer_n be_v all_o lose_v if_o i_o be_v a_o swearer_n and_o will_v not_o come_v to_o christ_n a_o unclean_a wretch_n and_o will_v not_o come_v to_o christ_n all_o my_o prayer_n and_o all_o my_o duty_n be_v lose_v oh_o the_o lord_n pity_v i_o may_n many_o a_o poor_a soul_n say_v i_o have_v lose_v too_o many_o prayer_n already_o through_o the_o lord_n grace_n now_o i_o will_v lose_v no_o more_o oh_o i_o come_v to_o christ_n lord_n i_o come_v i_o come_v this_o be_v a_o mighty_a encouragement_n to_o make_v every_o man_n now_o for_o to_o come_v unto_o jesus_n christ_n because_o the_o lord_n jesus_n our_o highpriest_n take_v every_o duty_n and_o carry_v it_o into_o the_o bosom_n of_o god_n the_o father_n for_o acceptance_n thus_o for_o ungodly_a second_o in_o case_n a_o man_n be_v godly_a this_o truth_n do_v conduce_v to_o our_o further_a holiness_n and_o growth_n in_o grace_n if_o i_o be_v codly_a then_o here_o i_o see_v infinite_a reason_n why_o i_o shall_v be_v much_o in_o duty_n not_o only_o pray_v but_o be_v much_o in_o prayer_n why_o for_o the_o lord_n christ_n take_v all_o and_o carry_v all_o into_o the_o bosom_n of_o the_o father_n mingle_v his_o own_o odour_n intercession_n with_o it_o although_o it_o be_v but_o a_o sigh_n and_o a_o groan_n the_o apostle_n upon_o this_o account_n make_v this_o use_n of_o it_o have_v speak_v of_o christ_n our_o highpriest_n therefore_o say_v he_o let_v we_o come_v with_o boldness_n unto_o the_o throne_n of_o grace_n 4.16_o heb._n 4.16_o the_o word_n signify_v to_o speak_v all_o one_o mind_n let_v we_o come_v speak_v all_o have_v such_o a_o highpriest_n indeed_o as_o will_v carry_v all_o throne_n of_o grace_n the_o reason_n be_v because_o he_o look_v upon_o his_o prayer_n or_o duty_n as_o it_o lie_v upon_o his_o own_o heart_n or_o as_o it_o come_v from_o himself_o whereas_o my_o belove_a it_o be_v with_o your_o prayer_n and_o duty_n as_o it_o be_v with_o fire_n your_o kitchen_n fire_n be_v trouble_v with_o abundance_n of_o smoke_n and_o there_o be_v filth_n about_o it_o fire_n upon_o the_o hearth_n have_v much_o smoke_n but_o fire_n above_o in_o the_o element_n of_o fire_n there_o be_v no_o smoke_n so_o your_o prayer_n when_o it_o lie_v upon_o your_o own_o hearth_n as_o i_o may_v say_v there_o be_v a_o great_a deal_n of_o smoke_n but_o when_o it_o get_v once_o into_o the_o hand_n of_o jesus_n christ_n there_o be_v its_o element_n and_o it_o be_v free_v from_o all_o its_o smoke_n or_o as_o it_o be_v with_o a_o man_n body_n so_o long_o as_o he_o live_v here_o upon_o the_o earth_n he_o be_v feeble_a and_o weak_a and_o many_o time_n sickly_a assoon_o as_o he_o be_v come_v into_o heaven_n all_o his_o weakness_n be_v take_v away_o and_o his_o body_n be_v in_o heaven_n it_o be_v present_o glorify_v and_o strength_n put_v upon_o it_o and_o all_o his_o disease_n be_v go_v so_o it_o be_v with_o our_o prayer_n so_o long_o as_o they_o be_v here_o below_o in_o our_o own_o bosom_n they_o be_v full_a of_o weakness_n but_o assoon_o as_o our_o prayer_n be_v out_o of_o our_o mouth_n it_o be_v in_o the_o hand_n of_o christ_n it_o be_v in_o heaven_n it_o be_v glorify_v the_o weakness_n be_v now_o do_v away_o oh_o it_o be_v a_o glorify_a prayer_n when_o once_o it_o be_v go_v from_o you_o it_o be_v in_o the_o hand_n of_o christ_n and_o therefore_o this_o be_v a_o mighty_a encouragement_n unto_o all_o those_o that_o be_v godly_a to_o be_v not_o only_o in_o prayer_n but_o to_o be_v much_o in_o prayer_n come_v with_o boldness_n unto_o the_o throne_n of_o grace_n again_o if_o you_o be_v godly_a yea_o if_o you_o be_v ungodly_a here_o i_o see_v infinite_a reason_n why_o i_o shall_v receive_v every_o truth_n that_o come_v from_o christ_n though_o accompany_v with_o many_o fail_n in_o he_o that_o speak_v it_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n he_o accept_v of_o every_o prayer_n and_o duty_n that_o come_v from_o i_o though_o it_o have_v many_o weakness_n yea_o he_o take_v my_o prayer_n and_o carry_v it_o into_o the_o presence_n of_o god_n the_o father_n for_o acceptance_n my_o poor_a prayer_n labour_v with_o many_o weakness_n then_o when_o a_o truth_n come_v from_o christ_n shall_v not_o i_o accept_v of_o it_o what_o though_o the_o minister_n or_o preacher_n that_o speak_v it_o labour_n with_o this_o or_o that_o weakness_n there_o be_v pride_n or_o there_o be_v some_o miscarriage_n in_o the_o delivery_n or_o the_o like_a shall_v the_o lord_n christ_n take_v my_o prayer_n labour_v under_o infirmity_n and_o accept_v thereof_o and_o carry_v it_o into_o the_o presence_n of_o god_n the_o father_n for_o acceptance_n notwithstanding_o all_o the_o fail_n of_o my_o duty_n and_o shall_v not_o i_o accept_v of_o truth_n that_o come_v from_o christ_n notwithstanding_o all_o the_o fail_n of_o the_o poor_a messenger_n that_o bring_v it_o further_o the_o more_o evangelical_n you_o be_v in_o your_o obedience_n the_o more_o holy_a you_o be_v in_o your_o life_n this_o truth_n that_o be_v now_o before_o you_o well_o study_v and_o consider_v will_v make_v you_o more_o obedient_a in_o a_o evangelical_n way_n and_o you_o shall_v find_v therefore_o that_o the_o lord_n himself_o from_o heaven_n do_v make_v this_o use_n of_o it_o pray_v consult_v with_o the_o 17._o of_o matthew_n and_o the_o 5._o verse_n this_o be_v my_o belove_a son_n in_o who_o i_o be_o well_o please_v hear_v you_o he_o those_o word_n follow_v hear_v he_o there_o of_o the_o disciple_n that_o they_o shall_v wait_v for_o the_o promise_n of_o the_o father_n christ_n command_v they_o that_o they_o shall_v not_o depart_v from_o jerusalem_n but_o wait_v for_o the_o promise_n of_o the_o father_n what_o be_v that_o we_o know_v what_o it_o be_v and_o be_v that_o which_o befall_v afterward_o it_o be_v the_o give_v out_o of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n the_o wherein_o it_o consist_v and_o what_o our_o highpriest_n do_v when_o he_o do_v bless_v the_o people_n but_o second_o quest_n 2_o do_v this_o blessing_n proper_o or_o special_o belong_v unto_o jesus_n christ_n yes_o answ_n for_o he_o be_v make_v a_o curse_n for_o sin_n he_o and_o none_o else_o make_v a_o curse_n for_o sin_n and_o therefore_o it_o belong_v unto_o he_o above_o all_o the_o world_n for_o to_o bless_v for_o look_v what_o evil_a jesus_n christ_n endure_v the_o contrary_a good_a he_o merit_v for_o the_o child_n of_o man_n a_o power_n to_o bestow_v that_o good_a now_o he_o above_o all_o be_v curse_v hang_v upon_o the_o cross_n and_o die_v a_o curse_a death_n he_o be_v make_v a_o curse_n therefore_o it_o belong_v unto_o he_o above_o all_o for_o to_o give_v the_o blessing_n for_o for_o he_o but_o i_o have_v pray_v for_o thou_o in_o time_n of_o temptation_n you_o can_v pray_v i_o but_o christ_n can_v pray_v and_o he_o be_v then_o at_o prayer_n for_o you_o as_o he_o say_v to_o of_o and_o i_o have_v a_o inheritance_n in_o heaven_n that_o thief_n can_v break_v through_o and_o steal_v away_o satan_n may_v take_v away_o my_o spending-money_n my_o spend_a comfort_n that_o i_o have_v here_o in_o this_o world_n but_o oh_o bless_a be_v god_n i_o have_v such_o comfort_n and_o such_o a_o estate_n such_o durable_a riches_n that_o i_o can_v never_o be_v rob_v of_o oh_o you_o that_o be_v the_o saint_n and_o people_n of_o god_n lift_v up_o your_o head_n you_o that_o have_v be_v bow_v under_o temptation_n these_o thing_n have_v i_o speak_v to_o you_o that_o you_o may_v not_o be_v overwhelm_v with_o temptation_n you_o that_o be_v tempt_v but_o that_o in_o the_o midst_n of_o all_o you_o may_v breathe_v out_o your_o soul_n in_o the_o bosom_n of_o jesus_n christ_n well_o his_o dispute_n if_o it_o be_v possible_a therefore_o do_v stand_v and_o parley_n or_o dispute_v with_o satan_n but_o if_o you_o must_v say_v something_o to_o he_o and_o you_o must_v treat_v you_o must_v speak_v tell_v satan_n then_o that_o therefore_o you_o believe_v it_o because_o he_o deny_v it_o therefore_o you_o do_v not_o believe_v it_o because_o he_o affirm_v it_o that_o you_o believe_v be_v able_a to_o help_v i_o and_o so_o i_o rely_v upon_o god_n and_o therefore_o satan_n i_o be_o now_o justify_v and_o stand_v righteous_a through_o jesus_n christ_n in_o the_o sight_n of_o god_n second_o as_o he_o do_v labour_n to_o weaken_v the_o faith_n of_o assurance_n by_o tell_v the_o saint_n that_o they_o have_v no_o faith_n so_o also_o by_o tell_v they_o that_o they_o have_v no_o obedience_n that_o they_o do_v profit_n under_o the_o mean_n that_o they_o be_v not_o fruitful_a where_o ever_o there_o be_v true_a faith_n there_o will_v be_v obedienee_n and_o man_n will_v profit_v under_o the_o mean_n and_o be_v fruitful_a but_o you_o be_v unfruitful_a and_o you_o be_v barren_a and_o where_o be_v your_o obedience_n here_o be_v no_o obedience_n therefore_o no_o faith_n so_o no_o assurance_n your_o assurance_n be_v wrong_a well_o but_o how_o may_v we_o ward_v quest_n and_o keep_v off_o this_o blow_n in_o the_o time_n of_o temptation_n that_o our_o faith_n of_o assurance_n may_v not_o fail_v true_o this_o blow_n be_v not_o to_o be_v ward_v off_o answ_n if_o this_o be_v true_a that_o you_o never_o be_v obedient_a never_o fruitful_a never_o profit_v by_o the_o mean_n of_o grace_n this_o blow_n fall_v dead_a upon_o the_o soul_n this_o blow_n be_v not_o to_o be_v ward_v off_o this_o be_v no_o temptation_n but_o now_o if_o you_o have_v ever_o be_v fruitful_a if_o you_o have_v ever_o be_v obedient_a if_o you_o have_v ever_o profit_v by_o the_o mean_n of_o grace_n though_o for_o the_o present_a you_o may_v seem_v dead_a yet_o remember_v what_o job_n say_v there_o be_v hope_n of_o a_o tree_n though_o it_o be_v cut_v down_o that_o by_o the_o scent_n of_o water_n it_o will_v flourish_v again_o and_o so_o there_o be_v hope_n of_o thy_o soul_n that_o by_o the_o scent_n of_o the_o gospel-water_n thou_o may_v flourish_v again_o but_o though_o there_o be_v no_o obedience_n in_o your_o own_o eye_n though_o you_o do_v profit_n under_o the_o mean_n in_o your_o own_o eye_n yet_o your_o obedience_n may_v be_v in_o the_o eye_n of_o other_o and_o in_o time_n of_o temptation_n another_o man_n eye_n be_v a_o better_a judge_n than_o your_o own_o but_o suppose_v there_o seem_v to_o be_v no_o obedience_n neither_o in_o your_o own_o nor_o another_o eye_n yet_o the_o root_n of_o the_o matter_n may_v be_v in_o you_o you_o know_v how_o it_o be_v with_o the_o fish_n that_o be_v in_o the_o water_n in_o a_o windy_a and_o a_o stormy_a day_n you_o put_v many_o fish_n into_o a_o pond_n and_o in_o a_o fair_a sun_n shiney_a day_n you_o see_v they_o play_v upon_o the_o water_n upon_o the_o uppermost_a part_n of_o the_o water_n but_o in_o a_o rainy_a and_o stormy_a day_n you_o see_v none_o of_o they_o there_o but_o yet_o you_o say_v they_o be_v all_o there_o they_o be_v in_o the_o water_n they_o be_v at_o the_o bottom_n though_o you_o see_v they_o not_o and_o so_o it_o may_v be_v in_o this_o stormy_a time_n of_o temptation_n your_o obedience_n and_o profit_v be_v not_o see_v but_o it_o may_v be_v there_o as_o heretofore_o satan_n do_v never_o more_o press_v a_o child_n of_o god_n to_o try_v himself_o by_o sign_n of_o grace_n draw_v from_o his_o own_o conversation_n than_o in_o the_o time_n of_o temptation_n there_o be_v indeed_o a_o good_a use_n of_o sign_n draw_v from_o our_o own_o conversation_n but_o this_o be_v agree_v upon_o by_o all_o that_o there_o be_v no_o use_n of_o they_o in_o the_o time_n of_o temptation_n and_o therefore_o say_v luther_n in_o the_o time_n of_o temptation_n i_o be_o as_o if_o there_o be_v no_o law_n nor_o no_o work_n but_o only_o the_o righteousness_n of_o christ_n in_o the_o world_n and_o so_o i_o do_v rest_n up-him_a do_v satan_n come_v forth_o therefore_o with_o this_o temptation_n that_o you_o have_v no_o obedience_n that_o you_o do_v profit_n that_o you_o be_v unfruitful_a answer_v it_o thus_o true_a satan_n i_o confess_v i_o be_o very_o unprofitable_a and_o therefore_o i_o will_v learn_v to_o profit_v more_o i_o confess_v i_o be_o very_o unfruitful_a and_o therefore_o i_o will_v labour_v to_o be_v more_o fruitful_a but_o satan_n i_o will_v not_o now_o at_o this_o time_n determine_v about_o my_o condition_n for_o it_o may_v be_v a_o time_n of_o temptation_n hereafter_o at_o another_o time_n i_o will_v come_v and_o determine_v about_o my_o condition_n and_o i_o will_v look_v after_o sign_n but_o now_o at_o this_o time_n it_o may_v be_v a_o time_n of_o temptation_n and_o therefore_o i_o will_v forbear_v to_o wind_n and_o draw_v up_o a_o conclusion_n but_o lean_v myself_o upon_o god_n and_o rest_n upon_o god_n at_o this_o time_n three_o sometime_o satan_n do_v labour_n to_o weaken_v the_o assurance_n of_o god_n people_n the_o faith_n of_o assurance_n to_o make_v that_o to_o fail_v by_o tell_v of_o they_o that_o they_o have_v no_o faith_n at_o all_o because_o they_o have_v no_o particular_a faith_n no_o particular_a promise_n for_o say_v satan_n thus_o faith_n and_o waver_a faith_n and_o doubt_v do_v not_o agree_v he_o that_o believe_v doubt_v not_o but_o now_o you_o pray_v and_o doubt_n you_o believe_v and_o waver_v you_o have_v no_o particular_a word_n for_o what_o you_o believe_v therefore_o you_o have_v no_o particular_a faith_n so_o no_o faith_n at_o all_o and_o therefore_o your_o assurance_n be_v naught_o quest_n how_o shall_v we_o ward_v off_o this_o blow_n answ_n in_o this_o case_n now_o let_v a_o poor_a believer_n say_v two_o or_o three_o thing_n unto_o his_o own_o soul_n first_o tell_v thy_o soul_n this_o though_o it_o please_v god_n sometime_o to_o give_v out_o a_o particular_a word_n unto_o his_o people_n a_o particular_a promise_n in_o the_o time_n of_o affliction_n or_o desertion_n especial_o or_o temptation_n yet_o the_o lord_n do_v not_o therefore_o giveout_o a_o particular_a promise_n that_o a_o man_n may_v measure_v his_o condition_n thereby_o there_o be_v a_o mistake_n but_o the_o lord_n do_v therefore_o give_v out_o a_o particular_a word_n or_o promise_n to_o uphold_v the_o soul_n in_o the_o condition_n not_o to_o measure_v out_o his_o condition_n by_o it_o but_o to_o uphold_v he_o and_o therefore_o though_o i_o have_v not_o a_o particular_a word_n or_o promise_n i_o will_v not_o conclude_v against_o my_o faith_n for_o this_o again_o tell_v thy_o own_o soul_n that_o though_o it_o please_v the_o lord_n to_o give_v out_o a_o particular_a word_n or_o promise_n sometime_o yet_o always_o he_o do_v not_o hezekiah_n have_v a_o particular_a word_n for_o his_o recovery_n but_o the_o three_o child_n have_v not_o a_o particular_a word_n that_o they_o shall_v be_v deliver_v out_o of_o the_o fiery_a furnace_n yet_o they_o believe_v and_o whether_o god_n deliver_v or_o do_v not_o deliver_v say_v they_o we_o will_v not_o bow_v ourselves_o to_o this_o idolatry_n so_o that_o though_o god_n be_v please_v sometime_o to_o give_v out_o a_o particular_a word_n or_o promise_n yet_o always_o he_o do_v not_o and_o therefore_o my_o faith_n may_v be_v right_a satan_n though_o i_o have_v not_o a_o particular_a word_n now_o for_o this_o business_n again_o tell_v thy_o soul_n this_o that_o though_o god_n be_v please_v thus_o to_o indulge_v and_o sometime_o to_o give_v out_o a_o particular_a promise_n unto_o his_o people_n and_o they_o have_v a_o particular_a faith_n concern_v this_o or_o that_o business_n yet_o there_o be_v always_o a_o waiting-faith_n that_o we_o read_v of_o in_o scripture_n there_o be_v a_o faith_n of_o recumbency_n whereby_o a_o soul_n lean_v upon_o god_n and_o commit_v his_o cause_n unto_o god_n and_o there_o be_v a_o wait_a faith_n now_o therefore_o satan_n though_o i_o have_v not_o a_o particular_a word_n and_o a_o particular_a faith_n for_o this_o business_n yet_o notwithstanding_o i_o have_v a_o wait_a faith_n i_o can_v wait_v upon_o the_o lord_n my_o god_n and_o i_o can_v rest_v upon_o jesus_n christ_n and_o therefore_o satan_n i_o do_v yet_o believe_v and_o my_o faith_n be_v right_n tell_v your_o own_o soul_n thus_o so_o shall_v you_o be_v able_a to_o stand_v to_o your_o faith_n and_o shall_v not_o fall_v off_o in_o the_o time_n of_o your_o temptation_n over_o so_o soon_o and_o lay_v down_o my_o weapon_n in_o time_n of_o temptation_n if_o a_o city_n be_v beleaguer_v besiege_v and_o know_v that_o help_n will_v come_v they_o will_v not_o give_v over_o
