evil_a but_o those_o who_o be_v not_o of_o the_o church_n run_v into_o they_o ii_o because_o he_o careful_o avoid_v all_o evil_a custom_n and_o labour_n to_o resist_v they_o but_o the_o other_o make_v custom_n a_o law_n and_o be_v lead_v thereby_o iii_o because_o he_o careful_o shun_v the_o company_n society_n and_o conversation_n of_o wicked_a man_n but_o the_o other_o rush_v thereinto_o three_o it_o be_v good_a for_o a_o man_n to_o be_v religious_a and_o a_o member_n of_o christ_n church_n because_o such_o rise_n from_o sin_n more_o quick_o they_o sometime_o fall_v as_o be_v say_v before_o but_o they_o lie_v not_o long_o but_o speedy_o renew_v themselves_o by_o repentance_n but_o those_o who_o be_v not_o of_o christ_n fold_n and_o flock_n lie_v and_o continue_v in_o sin_n yea_o wallow_v in_o the_o puddle_n of_o iniquity_n not_o hasten_v at_o all_o to_o come_v out_o of_o the_o jaw_n of_o satan_n four_o it_o be_v good_a for_o a_o man_n to_o be_v in_o and_o of_o christ_n church_n because_o than_o he_o will_v walk_v more_o wary_o and_o circumspect_o religion_n be_v a_o school_n of_o wisdom_n wherein_o he_o learn_v the_o wisdom_n of_o god_n and_o how_o to_o direct_v his_o step_n the_o like_a carnal_a respect_n and_o thus_o in_o he_o the_o flesh_n lust_n against_o the_o flesh_n iv_o the_o last_o difference_n between_o the_o strive_n of_o the_o regenerate_v and_o the_o unregenerate_a man_n show_v itself_o in_o the_o mean_n by_o which_o they_o resist_v for_o first_o the_o trouble_a conscience_n only_o of_o the_o unregenerate_a man_n resist_v and_o for_o the_o most_o part_n by_o little_a and_o little_a the_o conscience_n grow_v senseless_a and_o hard_a and_o then_o he_o sin_n without_o feeling_n ephes_n 4.19_o but_o second_o the_o regenerate_v resist_v sin_n by_o the_o word_n and_o grace_n of_o god_n and_o as_o his_o knowledge_n in_o the_o word_n increase_v and_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n be_v increase_v in_o he_o even_o so_o his_o strength_n and_o hatred_n against_o sin_n increase_v and_o therefore_o if_o we_o will_v know_v whether_o we_o be_v regenerate_v or_o not_o we_o must_v examine_v whether_o we_o war_n against_o sin_n with_o spiritual_a or_o which_o be_v bear_v again_o will_v avoid_v all_o evil_a impure_a and_o scandalous_a action_n and_o labour_n to_o abound_v in_o every_o good_a work_n and_o grieve_v when_o they_o be_v not_o able_a to_o do_v what_o they_o desire_v and_o rejoice_v when_o the_o lord_n increase_v their_o strength_n and_o make_v they_o thereby_o able_a in_o some_o good_a measure_n to_o obey_v his_o will_n three_o the_o next_o effect_n of_o regeneration_n be_v a_o answ_n 3_o certainty_n thereof_o here_o observe_v these_o thing_n viz._n i._o as_o a_o infant_n know_v not_o that_o it_o live_v neither_o be_v sensible_a of_o life_n so_o those_o who_o be_v infant_n in_o grace_n and_o new_o regenerate_v and_o convert_v be_v not_o sensible_a for_o a_o while_n of_o the_o spiritual_a life_n of_o grace_n but_o when_o they_o come_v to_o a_o great_a maturity_n of_o grace_n they_o easy_o perceive_v it_o and_o know_v it_o ii_o as_o a_o melancholy_a man_n may_v think_v himself_o to_o be_v sick_a yea_o dead_a when_o in_o the_o mean_a time_n the_o action_n of_o life_n and_o motion_n convince_v he_o to_o be_v alive_a so_o the_o regenerate_v in_o the_o hour_n of_o temptation_n do_v often_o think_v himself_o to_o be_v dead_a in_o sin_n and_o deprive_v of_o all_o spiritual_a life_n when_o in_o the_o mean_a time_n his_o fear_n to_o offend_v god_n his_o sorrow_n for_o his_o sin_n his_o war_a against_o sin_n and_o his_o unblameable_a conversation_n show_v and_o prove_v that_o he_o be_v a_o live_a soul_n and_o alive_a in_o the_o lord_n iii_o as_o a_o man_n by_o some_o deep_a wound_n or_o extreme_a blow_n or_o the_o decay_n of_o the_o spirit_n may_v faint_v or_o swoon_v and_o become_v insensible_a of_o life_n so_o may_v the_o regenerate_v man_n after_o the_o commit_n of_o some_o great_a and_o grievous_a sin_n as_o we_o see_v in_o david_n psal_n 22._o and_o 32._o and_o 42._o but_o as_o those_o be_v bring_v unto_o themselves_o who_o faint_a with_o rub_v and_o other_o the_o like_a mean_n so_o these_o by_o the_o wound_n and_o check_n of_o conscience_n and_o by_o a_o earnest_a endeavour_n in_o the_o exercise_n of_o religion_n may_v by_o little_a and_o little_a return_n unto_o themselves_o and_o
