be_v what_o a_o excellent_a thing_n be_v it_o but_o i_o have_v nothing_o will_n but_o can_v thou_o walk_v humble_o before_o the_o lord_n it_o be_v more_o than_o if_o thou_o can_v give_v kingdom_n unto_o god_n and_o therefore_o a_o great_a excellency_n appear_v in_o this_o grace_n of_o humility_n six_o and_o then_o humility_n it_o be_v a_o main_a ingredient_n to_o the_o prevalency_n in_o prayer_n god_n have_v a_o special_a eye_n to_o the_o humility_n of_o the_o soul_n in_o seek_v of_o he_o in_o prayer_n i_o may_v give_v you_o divers_a scripture_n for_o that_o in_o 2_o chron._n 7._o 14._o if_o my_o people_n which_o be_v call_v by_o my_o name_n shall_v humble_v themselves_o and_o seek_v my_o face_n and_o pray_v i_o will_v hear_v they_o say_v god_n and_o so_o again_o in_o psal_n 9_o 12._o he_o forget_v not_o the_o cry_n of_o the_o humble_a if_o a_o humble_a man_n cry_v oh_o it_o take_v deep_a impression_n in_o the_o heart_n of_o god_n it_o will_v not_o go_v â—ut_v of_o his_o mind_n for_o a_o long_a time_n together_o as_o you_o know_v some_o thing_n that_o be_v speak_v that_o take_v the_o heart_n be_v not_o easy_o forget_v as_o when_o you_o come_v to_o a_o sermon_n if_o you_o hear_v something_o that_o be_v speak_v that_o take_v the_o heart_n it_o will_v abide_v with_o you_o it_o will_v not_o easy_o be_v forget_v so_o here_o he_o will_v not_o forget_v the_o cry_n of_o the_o humble_a as_o if_o he_o shall_v say_v oh_o the_o cry_n of_o the_o humble_a do_v so_o take_v my_o heart_n that_o i_o can_v forget_v it_o it_o may_v be_v sometime_o when_o you_o go_v abroad_o can_v forget_v it_o and_o therefore_o say_v the_o psalmist_n in_o psal_n 10._o 12._o arise_v o_o lord_n o_o god_n lift_v up_o thy_o hand_n forget_v not_o the_o humble_a he_o do_v not_o instance_n in_o any_o other_o qualification_n but_o the_o humble_a do_v not_o forget_v the_o humble_a the_o lord_n he_o can_v pass_v by_o king_n and_o prince_n and_o great_a one_o but_o he_o will_v not_o forget_v the_o humble_a as_o i_o remember_v that_o famous_a mr._n fox_n that_o write_v the_o book_n of_o martyr_n when_o a_o poor_a woman_n come_v to_o beg_v of_o he_o his_o prayer_n well_o say_v he_o i_o may_v forget_v king_n and_o prince_n but_o i_o hope_v i_o shall_v never_o forget_v a_o humble_a break_a soul_n this_o be_v god_n respect_n to_o the_o humble_a and_o then_o in_o psal_n 10._o 17._o lord_n thou_o have_v hear_v the_o desire_n of_o the_o humble_a thou_o will_v prepare_v their_o heart_n thou_o will_v incline_v thy_o ear_n to_o hear_v a_o humble_a heart_n if_o he_o have_v but_o a_o desire_n present_o god_n hear_v it_o mark_n thou_o have_v hear_v the_o desire_n of_o the_o humble_a he_o do_v not_o say_v thou_o have_v hear_v the_o prayer_n of_o the_o humble_a but_o thou_o have_v hear_v the_o desire_n of_o the_o humble_a the_o very_a desire_n of_o a_o humble_a soul_n cry_v aloud_o in_o god_n ear_n and_o therefore_o by_o the_o way_n of_o all_o thing_n in_o the_o world_n take_v heed_n of_o wrong_v those_o that_o be_v humble_a take_v heed_n of_o do_v wrong_a to_o one_o that_o have_v a_o lowly_a heart_n if_o such_o a_o one_o that_o have_v a_o break_a heart_n go_v and_o make_v his_o moan_n to_o god_n woe_n unto_o thou_o for_o no_o cry_n take_v such_o mighty_a impression_n in_o god_n heart_n as_o the_o cry_n of_o the_o humble_a if_o it_o be_v twenty_o year_n after_o he_o no_o man_n or_o woman_n know_v their_o own_o heart_n but_o those_o that_o be_v humble_a thou_o can_v not_o know_v thy_o own_o heart_n till_o thou_o be_v humble_a there_o be_v many_o afraid_a lest_o they_o shall_v be_v deceive_v they_o cry_v out_o o_o my_o heart_n be_v deceitful_a and_o i_o may_v deceive_v myself_o and_o perish_v at_o last_o will_v thou_o prevent_v this_o will_v thou_o not_o be_v the_o other_o two_o the_o way_n of_o god_n indeed_o and_o religion_n and_o walk_v in_o the_o way_n of_o god_n we_o must_v needs_o acknowledge_v to_o be_v easy_a but_o there_o be_v two_o other_o thing_n as_o the_o discipline_n of_o jesus_n christ_n and_o the_o suffering_n that_o jesus_n call_v we_o unto_o how_o will_v that_o be_v make_v out_o to_o be_v easy_a to_o we_o now_o i_o very_o believe_v that_o jesus_n christ_n have_v a_o aim_n at_o these_o two_o as_o well_o as_o to_o any_o other_o to_o let_v they_o know_v what_o discipline_n and_o government_n he_o will_v have_v his_o people_n come_v under_o in_o the_o time_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o indeed_o we_o can_v be_v the_o disciple_n of_o jesus_n christ_n as_o we_o ought_v except_o we_o be_v willing_a to_o put_v our_o neck_n under_o the_o yoke_n of_o the_o discipline_n of_o jesus_n christ_n the_o government_n of_o christ_n as_o it_o be_v in_o his_o church_n we_o must_v not_o think_v it_o sufficient_a mere_o that_o we_o profess_v religion_n and_o profess_v godliness_n that_o we_o keep_v from_o the_o sin_n of_o the_o world_n that_o we_o walk_v close_o with_o god_n in_o our_o family_n but_o christ_n require_v likewise_o that_o we_o shall_v come_v and_o subâ—it_v ourselves_o to_o what_o government_n he_o appoint_v in_o his_o church_n and_o that_o be_v a_o part_n of_o the_o kingdom_n of_o jesus_n christ_n as_o well_o as_o his_o rule_n in_o our_o heart_n indeed_o that_o be_v the_o principal_a work_n of_o christ_n in_o rule_v in_o our_o heart_n but_o christ_n have_v a_o kingly_a power_n in_o rule_v in_o his_o church_n the_o main_a yoke_n be_v inward_a but_o there_o be_v a_o outward_a yoke_n too_o for_o christ_n will_v not_o have_v man_n live_v as_o they_o listen_v in_o a_o disorderly_a way_n but_o it_o be_v the_o mind_n of_o jesus_n christ_n that_o all_o his_o saint_n though_o some_o in_o one_o place_n and_o some_o in_o another_o shall_v join_v together_o in_o exercise_v such_o ordinance_n as_o he_o have_v appoint_v in_o the_o external_a govern_n of_o his_o church_n and_o yet_o so_o that_o all_o these_o be_v very_o easy_a to_o a_o spiritual_a heart_n though_o it_o may_v seem_v very_o difficult_a to_o a_o carnal_a heart_n for_o i_o shall_v wrong_v the_o text_n and_o not_o be_v faithful_a if_o i_o shall_v not_o give_v you_o what_o i_o very_o believe_v be_v the_o scope_n of_o the_o of_o the_o great_a thing_n that_o cause_v so_o much_o malignity_n in_o this_o kingdom_n at_o this_o day_n it_o be_v the_o fear_v of_o the_o yoke_n of_o christ_n man_n be_v afraid_a of_o the_o government_n of_o christ_n in_o his_o church_n they_o be_v afraid_a they_o shall_v not_o have_v that_o liberty_n for_o their_o lust_n and_o wickedness_n as_o former_o but_o that_o there_o shall_v be_v yoke_n to_o restrain_v and_o keep_v they_o from_o those_o loose_a way_n that_o former_o they_o live_v in_o and_o you_o may_v see_v plain_o it_o be_v so_o who_o be_v they_o that_o join_v with_o the_o malignant_a party_n that_o have_v such_o spirit_n but_o such_o as_o have_v loose_a spirit_n they_o be_v those_o that_o live_v very_o loose_o &_o other_o that_o have_v mere_a civility_n and_o know_v little_a of_o the_o power_n of_o godliness_n they_o be_v afraid_a of_o this_o and_z oh_o how_o be_v it_o say_v by_o most_o we_o will_v not_o have_v this_o man_n reign_n over_o we_o they_o even_o say_v they_o will_v break_v his_o bond_n asunder_o and_o cast_v away_o his_o cord_n that_o be_v the_o controversy_n that_o it_o be_v come_v to_o at_o this_o very_a day_n and_o that_o prophecy_n in_o psalm_n 2._o seem_v to_o be_v fulfil_v at_o this_o day_n at_o verse_n 2._o the_o king_n of_o the_o earth_n set_v themselves_o and_o the_o ruler_n take_v counsel_n together_o against_o the_o lord_n and_o some_o way_n or_o other_o appear_v we_o can_v know_v it_o certain_o for_o there_o may_v be_v many_o hypocrite_n no_o question_n in_o the_o church_n of_o god_n and_o it_o be_v a_o very_a vain_a cavil_n for_o man_n to_o say_v can_v the_o church_n of_o god_n be_v without_o hypocrite_n that_o be_v take_v indeed_o for_o grant_v and_o no_o body_n in_o the_o world_n deny_v it_o i_o but_o there_o must_v be_v that_o in_o the_o judgement_n of_o charity_n so_o as_o by_o the_o judgement_n of_o charity_n we_o may_v see_v so_o far_o as_o we_o be_v able_a to_o see_v that_o the_o holy_a ghost_n have_v be_v work_v upon_o the_o soul_n of_o this_o man_n and_o woman_n and_o have_v call_v they_o out_o of_o the_o world_n this_o be_v the_o first_o thing_n in_o come_v under_o the_o yoke_n of_o christ_n in_o his_o church_n now_o how_o hard_o be_v this_o to_o carnal_a heart_n the_o very_o mention_v of_o it_o be_v enough_o to_o make_v a_o mutiny_n in_o many_o place_n what!_o have_v we_o live_v all_o this_o while_n and_o must_v we_o now_o come_v to_o give_v account_n of_o our_o faith_n but_o now_o it_o be_v a_o easy_a thing_n to_o a_o gracious_a heart_n what_o be_v more_o easy_a to_o a_o gracious_a heart_n then_o to_o speak_v of_o the_o work_n of_o god_n upon_o his_o heart_n &_o to_o give_v glory_n to_o jesus_n christ_n in_o manifest_v the_o work_n of_o god_n in_o call_v he_o out_o of_o the_o world_n and_o bring_v he_o out_o of_o the_o kingdom_n of_o darkness_n and_o translate_n he_o into_o the_o kingdom_n of_o his_o dear_a son_n the_o manifestation_n of_o this_o be_v exceed_o delightful_a to_o a_o gracious_a heart_n and_o whereas_o many_o think_v that_o some_o will_v lay_v a_o great_a yoke_n upon_o they_o by_o come_v in_o and_o submit_v to_o the_o government_n of_o christ_n in_o his_o say_v in_o regard_n of_o the_o discipline_n of_o christ_n in_o his_o church_n or_o what_o in_o regard_n of_o the_o suffering_n that_o christ_n require_v notwithstanding_o all_o these_o yet_o we_o hope_v we_o shall_v make_v it_o clear_a that_o yet_o his_o yoke_n be_v easy_a and_o his_o burden_n be_v light_a and_o further_o we_o be_v to_o show_v how_o it_o come_v to_o be_v easy_a and_o light_a suitable_a to_o his_o spirit_n must_v needs_o be_v difficult_a must_v needs_o be_v tedious_a it_o be_v not_o suitable_a to_o they_o yea_o it_o be_v contrary_a to_o they_o contrary_a to_o the_o spirit_n of_o those_o that_o be_v natural_a cross_a unto_o the_o grain_n they_o go_v quite_o contrary_a to_o their_o own_o spirit_n when_o they_o venture_v upon_o do_v what_o be_v require_v in_o the_o way_n of_o god_n 3._o they_o be_v weak_a and_o have_v not_o the_o strength_n that_o shall_v carry_v they_o on_o in_o the_o way_n of_o god_n indeed_o it_o must_v needs_o be_v difficult_a to_o think_v to_o do_v that_o which_o be_v supernatural_a &_o have_v nothing_o but_o a_o natural_a strength_n it_o must_v needs_o be_v hard_a to_o nature_n that_o have_v nothing_o but_o weakness_n it_o must_v needs_o be_v hard_a to_o the_o man_n of_o the_o world_n for_o they_o have_v a_o great_a many_o prejudices_fw-la against_o the_o way_n of_o christ_n they_o must_v deny_v themselves_o in_o many_o thing_n that_o be_v as_o dear_a to_o themselves_o as_o their_o very_a soul_n and_o their_o life_n and_o they_o have_v nothing_o to_o make_v up_o their_o comfort_n they_o must_v deny_v their_o be_v hard_a to_o the_o man_n of_o the_o world_n a_o hard_a thing_n for_o they_o to_o enter_v upon_o the_o way_n to_o heaven_n and_o so_o it_o be_v straight_o to_o they_o in_o their_o esteem_n quest_n i_o but_o further_o be_v it_o not_o straight_o unto_o the_o saint_n even_o to_o the_o very_a disciple_n of_o christ_n do_v not_o they_o find_v difficulty_n in_o the_o way_n of_o god_n answ_n now_o for_o the_o answer_n of_o that_o to_o show_v how_o the_o way_n of_o god_n be_v easy_a notwithstanding_o what_o even_o those_o that_o be_v the_o people_n of_o god_n find_v in_o they_o and_o notwithstanding_o all_o their_o complaint_n those_o that_o be_v godly_a they_o say_v they_o find_v much_o difficulty_n in_o the_o way_n of_o religion_n 1._o it_o may_v be_v the_o difficulty_n thou_o speak_v of_o it_o be_v but_o in_o opinion_n rather_o than_o reality_n it_o be_v but_o a_o imaginary_a difficulty_n when_o thou_o look_v upon_o a_o duty_n a_o great_a way_n off_o oh_o thou_o think_v it_o be_v very_o hard_a but_o when_o thou_o come_v to_o it_o thou_o do_v not_o find_v it_o so_o hard_a i_o appeal_v to_o those_o that_o be_v acquaint_v with_o the_o way_n of_o god_n have_v it_o not_o be_v so_o with_o you_o that_o thing_n have_v seem_v to_o be_v hard_a and_o difficult_a a_o great_a way_n off_o but_o when_o you_o have_v come_v unto_o they_o &_o venture_v upon_o they_o you_o have_v not_o find_v they_o so_o it_o be_v just_a in_o this_o case_n for_o all_o the_o world_n like_a as_o it_o be_v with_o the_o woman_n that_o we_o read_v of_o in_o mark_n 16._o that_o go_v to_o the_o sepulchre_n of_o christ_n as_o they_o be_v go_v at_o verse_n 3_o o_o they_o be_v very_o solicitous_a about_o the_o stone_n that_o be_v roll_v upon_o the_o sepulchre_n who_o shall_v roâ—l_v away_o the_o stone_n but_o now_o when_o they_o come_v to_o the_o sepulchre_n the_o stone_n be_v roll_v away_o so_o it_o be_v here_o when_o there_o be_v many_o duty_n to_o be_v do_v it_o may_v be_v you_o as_o any_o part_n of_o the_o covenant_n of_o eternal_a life_n as_o that_o which_o our_o eternal_a life_n depend_v not_o as_o a_o covenant_n of_o work_n upon_o which_o eternal_a life_n depend_v but_o the_o safety_n of_o our_o soul_n and_o eternal_a life_n be_v in_o another_o way_n and_o all_o that_o which_o we_o do_v be_v rather_o in_o way_n of_o thankfulness_n unto_o god_n for_o the_o mercy_n be_v we_o may_v meet_v with_o a_o contrary_a wind_n i_o but_o when_o that_o contrary_a wind_n shall_v help_v you_o as_o i_o have_v see_v some_o that_o have_v make_v use_n of_o a_o contrary_n wind_n so_o it_o be_v with_o godly_a people_n all_o all_o good_a thing_n help_v and_o encourage_v they_o and_o ill_a thing_n be_v turn_v by_o god_n to_o be_v helpful_a to_o they_o and_o to_o be_v good_a to_o that_o grace_n be_v of_o a_o royal_a breed_n indeed_o that_o it_o can_v bring_v all_o thing_n to_o be_v serviceable_a to_o its_o end_n therefore_o the_o way_n of_o god_n be_v easy_a because_o all_o thing_n be_v helpful_a to_o the_o encouragement_n of_o a_o child_n of_o god_n in_o those_o way_n and_o further_o if_o a_o man_n be_v go_v in_o a_o way_n and_o there_o be_v many_o stone_n lay_v in_o the_o way_n it_o will_v be_v rough_a go_n and_o uneasy_a but_o be_v they_o lay_v in_o that_o fashion_n that_o they_o shall_v be_v lay_v in_o a_o slough_n in_o such_o a_o place_n that_o it_o shall_v help_v i_o to_o step_v over_o such_o a_o slough_n than_o it_o will_v be_v more_o easy_a now_o here_o be_v the_o difference_n between_o wicked_a and_o godly_a man_n god_n in_o his_o just_a judgement_n they_o have_v throb_n of_o conscience_n and_o terror_n of_o conscience_n a_o angry_a conscience_n thou_o can_v never_o lie_v down_o to_o sleep_v but_o thy_o consicence_n be_v as_o it_o be_v a_o hard_a stone_n to_o thy_o head_n and_o as_o prick_v in_o thy_o side_n but_o now_o when_o thou_o be_v get_v into_o the_o way_n of_o religion_n thou_o can_v lie_v down_o in_o the_o bosom_n of_o a_o reconcile_a father_n in_o peace_n and_o thy_o conscience_n very_o easy_a and_o thy_o soul_n easy_a thou_o feel_v no_o more_o of_o the_o throb_n of_o conscience_n that_o thou_o be_v wont_a to_o feel_v the_o way_n of_o god_n bring_v ease_n to_o thy_o conscience_n many_o of_o you_o love_v your_o estate_n because_o you_o can_v have_v mean_n come_v in_o when_o you_o be_v old_a and_o you_o can_v sit_v in_o a_o chair_n and_o can_v have_v maintenance_n bring_v in_o unto_o you_o oh_o but_o if_o that_o be_v good_a what_o be_v it_o to_o have_v quiet_a and_o ease_v in_o your_o conscience_n which_o only_o the_o yoke_n of_o jesus_n christ_n bring_v in_o and_o therefore_o the_o way_n of_o jesus_n christ_n be_v easy_a nine_o the_o way_n of_o christ_n be_v easy_a because_o they_o bring_v ease_n and_o freedom_n from_o all_o care_n all_o your_o trouble_n and_o care_n all_o your_o cark_n care_v you_o have_v hereby_o ease_v from_o under_o they_o come_v once_o under_o the_o yoke_n of_o christ_n and_o then_o you_o have_v nothing_o to_o do_v but_o to_o make_v know_v your_o request_n to_o god_n you_o need_v not_o care_v what_o shall_v become_v of_o you_o either_o for_o the_o present_a or_o for_o erernity_n
