scripture_n say_v of_o god_n and_o then_o let_v we_o see_v what_o suitable_a disposition_n we_o shall_v have_v in_o we_o unto_o those_o thing_n that_o the_o scripture_n say_v of_o god_n 1_o first_o worship_n without_o soul-worship_n be_v nothing_o but_o soul-worship_n may_v be_v accept_v without_o bodily_a worship_n therefore_o it_o be_v the_o soul_n that_o god_n do_v principal_o look_v at_o in_o holy_a duty_n if_o you_o be_v not_o able_a to_o worship_n god_n in_o your_o body_n you_o may_v worship_v he_o in_o your_o soul_n and_o god_n regard_v that_o bodily_a exercise_n in_o holy_a duty_n be_v little_a worth_n some_o what_o it_o may_v be_v worth_a i_o confess_v sometime_o bodily_a exercise_n may_v further_o the_o soul_n as_o a_o reverend_a carriage_n of_o the_o body_n and_o the_o like_a but_o it_o be_v nothing_o in_o comparison_n the_o great_a work_n be_v the_o work_n of_o the_o soul_n for_o god_n be_v a_o spirit_n and_o must_v be_v worship_v in_o spirit_n and_o god_n be_v say_v to_o be_v a_o spirit_n not_o only_o in_o that_o he_o be_v not_o of_o so_o thick_a a_o capital_a substance_n but_o it_o note_v the_o simplicity_n of_o god_n he_o be_v without_o any_o composition_n whatsoever_o be_v in_o god_n be_v god_n himself_o he_o be_v absolute_o one_o there_o be_v not_o divers_a thing_n in_o god_n now_o then_o those_o that_o come_v to_o worship_v he_o must_v heart_n before_o god_n without_o any_o composition_n of_o drofte_a in_o yourselves_o and_o of_o any_o kind_n of_o falseness_n but_o in_o the_o simplicity_n of_o your_o heart_n you_o must_v come_v to_o worship_n god_n and_o thus_o you_o shall_v worship_v he_o with_o such_o worship_n as_o be_v some_o way_n suitable_a to_o he_o as_o he_o be_v a_o spirit_n 2_o further_n consider_v god_n as_o he_o be_v a_o eternal_a god_n what_o suitable_a disposition_n do_v this_o require_v of_o i_o when_o i_o be_o to_o look_v upon_o god_n as_o a_o eternal_a be_v it_o require_v this_o only_a that_o therefore_o thy_o heart_n must_v be_v take_v off_o from_o all_o temporal_a good_a thing_n and_o set_v upon_o that_o eternal_a good_a thou_o may_v indeed_o desire_v these_o outward_a good_a thing_n but_o in_o order_n to_o thy_o eternal_a good_a then_o further_o thou_o be_v worship_v a_o eternal_a god_n hence_o than_o whatsoever_o sin_n thou_o do_v confess_v although_o commit_v 20._o or_o 40._o year_n ago_o look_v upon_o your_o sin_n though_o a_o long_a time_n since_o commit_v as_o if_o they_o be_v now_o do_v likewise_o there_o will_v be_v this_o require_v from_o the_o consideration_n of_o god_n eternity_n you_o must_v come_v with_o such_o a_o disposition_n of_o heart_n as_o not_o to_o think_v much_o though_o what_o you_o desire_v be_v defer_v and_o not_o grant_v in_o your_o time_n when_o you_o will_v have_v it_o for_o if_o there_o be_v no_o time_n that_o alter_v with_o god_n but_o a_o thousand_o year_n be_v with_o god_n as_o one_o day_n then_o that_o that_o we_o account_v long_o before_o it_o be_v do_v it_o be_v nothing_o with_o god_n and_o therefore_o we_o must_v have_v our_o heart_n so_o work_v towards_o god_n as_o towards_o a_o eternal_a god_n as_o one_o with_o who_o there_o be_v no_o alteration_n of_o time_n at_o all_o with_o who_o there_o be_v no_o succession_n of_o time_n if_o we_o come_v to_o a_o man_n and_o seek_v any_o thing_n of_o he_o if_o he_o do_v not_o answer_v we_o present_o we_o will_v think_v that_o he_o will_v forget_v it_o and_o other_o thing_n will_v come_v into_o his_o mind_n but_o when_o we_o come_v to_o worship_n god_n we_o must_v look_v upon_o he_o as_o a_o eternal_a be_v and_o that_o time_n alter_v nothing_o with_o he_o thus_o understanding_n god_n in_o a_o right_a way_n will_v much_o help_v we_o in_o his_o worship_n and_o so_o to_o sanctify_v his_o name_n we_o can_v sanctify_v god_n name_n without_o know_v his_o name_n without_o have_v serious_a thought_n about_o his_o name_n and_o get_v our_o heart_n to_o work_v according_o 3_o three_o look_v upon_o god_n when_o you_o come_v to_o worship_v he_o in_o his_o incomprehensible_a
can_v live_v without_o his_o meat_n and_o drink_n and_o so_o for_o the_o soul_n to_o have_v such_o a_o disposition_n after_o christ_n this_o be_v a_o rare_a thing_n but_o know_v that_o god_n name_n be_v not_o sanctify_v unless_o thou_o do_v come_v in_o such_o a_o way_n unto_o this_o holy_a sacrament_n that_o be_v the_o four_o thing_n hungry_a and_o thirsty_a desire_n after_o christ_n from_o a_o deep_a sense_n of_o the_o need_n of_o he_o and_o the_o apprehension_n of_o the_o excellency_n in_o he_o 5._o in_o the_o five_o place_n there_o must_v be_v a_o exercise_n of_o faith_n for_o the_o sanctify_a of_o god_n name_n here_o faith_n that_o be_v both_o the_o hand_n and_o the_o mouth_n for_o the_o take_n of_o this_o spiritual_a meat_n and_o spiritual_a drink_n when_o thou_o come_v to_o the_o feast_n of_o the_o lord_n faith_n first_o be_v the_o eye_n and_o then_o the_o hand_n and_o mouth_n it_o be_v the_o eye_n of_o the_o soul_n to_o give_v a_o real_a sight_n of_o what_o there_o be_v here_o you_o be_v not_o able_a to_o discern_v the_o body_n of_o the_o lord_n but_o by_o the_o eye_n of_o faith_n if_o thou_o come_v only_o with_o bodily_a eye_n to_o look_v upon_o what_o be_v here_o thou_o see_v nothing_o but_o a_o little_a bread_n and_o wine_n but_o now_o where_o the_o eye_n of_o faith_n be_v there_o be_v a_o real_a appearance_n of_o jesus_n christ_n to_o the_o soul_n as_o if_o christ_n be_v bodily_a present_n and_o we_o need_v not_o have_v the_o bread_n turn_v into_o his_o body_n for_o faith_n can_v see_v the_o body_n of_o christ_n through_o the_o bread_n and_o the_o body_n of_o christ_n gush_v in_o the_o wine_n and_o it_o be_v a_o mighty_a thing_n to_o have_v christ_n and_o such_o spiritual_a thing_n make_v real_a and_o not_o to_o be_v a_o fancy_n if_o one_o look_v upon_o the_o fire_n that_o be_v paint_v one_o can_v heat_v one_o self_n in_o cold_a weather_n with_o that_o but_o fire_n that_o be_v real_o burn_v upon_o the_o hearth_n so_o those_o that_o come_v to_o receive_v the_o sacrament_n and_o not_o come_v with_o faith_n that_o have_v only_o the_o eye_n of_o their_o body_n they_o only_o see_v as_o it_o be_v a_o paint_a christ_n they_o do_v not_o see_v christ_n real_o his_o body_n and_o blood_n and_o those_o great_a mystery_n of_o the_o gospel_n be_v not_o present_v as_o real_a thing_n to_o their_o soul_n and_o hence_o it_o be_v that_o they_o go_v away_o and_o get_v nothing_o but_o now_o when_o the_o soul_n come_v with_o the_o eye_n of_o faith_n the_o soul_n see_v the_o wonderful_a thing_n of_o god_n it_o be_v the_o most_o glorious_a sight_n a_o hard_a thing_n for_o one_o to_o know_v one_o own_o heart_n when_o one_o be_v act_v by_o principle_n of_o 〈◊〉_d and_o when_o we_o aim_v at_o god_n in_o holy_a duty_n now_o for_o that_o i_o will_v give_v you_o these_o note_n to_o try_v whither_o you_o be_v act_v from_o yourselves_o or_o no._n the_o first_o be_v this_o if_o a_o man_n love_v holy_a duty_n though_o he_o find_v no_o present_a good_a come_v in_o by_o they_o because_o they_o be_v such_o thing_n as_o god_n requir_n and_o therefore_o though_o i_o get_v nothing_o by_o they_o yet_o this_o be_v enough_o to_o carry_v i_o on_o and_o to_o carry_v i_o on_o ready_o and_o willing_o in_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n those_o that_o can_v delight_v in_o god_n worship_n even_o at_o that_o time_n though_o they_o find_v nothing_o high_a end_n for_o god_n those_o man_n that_o can_v rejoice_v in_o other_o that_o be_v able_a to_o honour_n god_n in_o holy_a duty_n more_o than_o themselves_o they_o may_v have_v a_o good_a evidence_n to_o their_o own_o soul_n that_o when_o they_o worship_v god_n they_o be_v act_v by_o high_a end_n than_o self_n but_o now_o such_o as_o be_v straighten_v themselves_o and_o when_o they_o see_v other_o more_o enlarge_v in_o the_o worship_n of_o god_n they_o rather_o envy_v they_o be_v grieve_a and_o trouble_v know_v that_o self_n be_v a_o great_a ingredient_n in_o those_o duty_n that_o thou_o do_v perform_v if_o thy_o heart_n be_v raise_v high_a to_o god_n though_o thou_o can_v not_o thyself_o be_v enlarge_v in_o holy_a duty_n yet_o thy_o soul_n will_v be_v glad_a that_o any_o other_o be_v though_o i_o have_v a_o wretched_a and_o vile_a heart_n of_o my_o own_o yet_o bless_v be_v god_n that_o there_o be_v any_o other_o that_o can_v worship_n god_n better_o than_o i_o can_v three_o a_o man_n that_o be_v act_v by_o self_n in_o holy_a duty_n he_o regard_v holy_a duty_n but_o little_a save_v in_o time_n of_o extremity_n in_o time_n of_o fear_n or_o of_o sickness_n or_o in_o danger_n but_o now_o one_o that_o have_v high_a end_n in_o holy_a duty_n make_v the_o duty_n of_o god_n worship_n to_o be_v the_o joy_n of_o his_o soul_n in_o the_o midst_n of_o his_o prosperity_n and_o that_o be_v a_o evident_a sign_n that_o thou_o be_v not_o act_v by_o self_n end_v but_o by_o high_a end_n can_v thou_o in_o the_o midst_n of_o thy_o abundance_n say_v lord_n thou_o give_v i_o all_o conveniency_n in_o this_o world_n and_o all_o outward_a thing_n that_o i_o want_v but_o lord_n this_o be_v that_o which_o be_v the_o â—oy_n of_o my_o soul_n this_o be_v that_o which_o make_v my_o life_n comfortable_a even_a communion_n with_o thyself_o in_o the_o duty_n of_o thy_o worship_n that_o i_o have_v free_a access_n unto_o the_o throne_n of_o thy_o grace_n to_o worship_v thou_o make_v my_o life_n bleâ—â—ed_v indeed_o unto_o i_o such_o a_o man_n as_o be_v able_a thus_o to_o appeal_v to_o god_n sure_o when_o he_o worship_v god_n he_o be_v act_v by_o high-end_n and_o not_o by_o self_n end_n and_o that_o be_v the_o three_o thing_n that_o be_v necessary_a for_o sanctify_v of_o god_n name_n in_o holy_a duty_n thou_o muâ—â—_n have_v a_o sanctify_a heart_n high_a thought_n of_o these_o several_a expression_n to_o show_v the_o strength_n of_o their_o spirit_n in_o follow_v after_o their_o idol_n and_o that_o be_v the_o five_o thing_n in_o our_o sanctify_v of_o god_n name_n 6_o the_o six_o be_v if_o thou_o will_v sanctify_v god_n name_n in_o worship_n there_o must_v be_v a_o humble_a frame_n of_o spirit_n worship_v he_o with_o much_o humility_n of_o soul_n abraham_n do_v have_v liberty_n to_o come_v before_o he_o we_o may_v have_v be_v past_o pray_v and_o worship_v of_o god_n think_v thus_o what_o a_o mercy_n be_v it_o that_o we_o be_v not_o banish_v out_o of_o god_n that_o some_o of_o you_o be_v pray_v and_o there_o be_v some_o godly_a able_a minister_n stand_v near_o you_o it_o will_v be_v some_o mean_n to_o stir_v up_o your_o heart_n to_o mind_n what_o you_o do_v but_o now_o the_o lord_n he_o be_v not_o in_o the_o next_o room_n only_o but_o in_o the_o same_o room_n and_o stand_v by_o you_o let_v there_o be_v nothing_o do_v therefore_o unbeseeming_a the_o presence_n of_o that_o infinite_a holy_a god_n that_o stand_v by_o you_o and_o hold_v this_o truth_n forth_o the_o lord_n be_v present_a with_o i_o i_o acknowledge_v it_o and_o i_o own_v it_o and_o
