suppose_v to_o be_v such_o as_o have_v no_o real_a turpitude_n or_o immorality_n in_o they_o for_o say_v he_o any_o thing_n that_o include_v such_o turpitude_n or_o immorality_n can_v just_o be_v count_v the_o command_n of_o god_n here_o i_o must_v remind_v he_o of_o the_o example_n of_o abraham_n be_v command_v to_o kill_v his_o innocent_a son_n this_o act_n in_o the_o doctor_n opinion_n for_o i_o have_v declare_v i_o own_o about_o it_o already_o be_v against_o the_o moral_a law_n and_o therefore_o by_o his_o rule_n abraham_n can_v not_o just_o count_v it_o the_o command_n of_o god_n but_o must_v have_v judge_v it_o a_o trick_n of_o the_o subtle_a tempter_n i_o may_v add_v god_n command_v israel_n to_o plunder_v and_o spoil_v the_o egyptian_n which_o be_v against_o the_o 8_o commandment_n as_o also_o his_o command_v they_o to_o invade_v the_o country_n seize_v the_o possession_n and_o destroy_v the_o life_n of_o the_o canaanite_n who_o never_o have_v do_v they_o injury_n will_v the_o doctor_n have_v allow_v the_o israelite_n to_o dispute_v these_o command_n to_o object_n that_o they_o be_v against_o the_o general_a law_n of_o nature_n quod_fw-la tibi_fw-la fieri_fw-la non_fw-la vis_fw-la etc._n etc._n and_o that_o therefore_o they_o include_v turpitude_n i_o hope_v not_o god_n be_v lord_n of_o all_o thing_n and_o may_v do_v what_o he_o will_v with_o his_o own_o yea_o even_o with_o his_o own_o law_n he_o have_v not_o bind_v his_o own_o hand_n by_o bind_v we_o and_o give_v law_n to_o nature_n and_o if_o at_o any_o time_n he_o think_v fit_a to_o countermand_v such_o law_n his_o infinite_a wisdom_n and_o justice_n have_v sufficient_a reason_n for_o so_o do_v whether_o man_n understand_v it_o or_o no._n the_o moral_a turpitude_n of_o violate_v the_o law_n of_o nature_n be_v not_o imputable_a as_o such_o to_o any_o man_n who_o have_v certain_o receive_v god_n command_v to_o violate_v it_o for_o whatsoever_o be_v god_n command_n be_v by_o be_v so_o necessary_o free_a from_o infer_v any_o turpitude_n and_o most_o undoubted_o just_a and_o right_o so_o that_o though_o the_o action_n examine_v by_o the_o standard_n of_o the_o moral_a law_n common_a to_o all_o man_n will_v include_v turpitude_n yet_o god_n particular_a law_n to_o the_o contrary_n do_v whole_o justify_v it_o but_o than_o we_o must_v always_o remember_v that_o the_o moral_a law_n be_v his_o reveal_v know_v will_n it_o must_v be_v our_o rule_n till_o we_o assure_o have_v his_o will_n reveal_v unto_o we_o to_o the_o contrary_n now_o i_o infer_v ad_fw-la hominem_fw-la i_o mean_v as_o to_z dr_n more_o if_o god_n be_v above_o the_o law_n he_o have_v make_v for_o we_o in_o general_a and_o may_v in_o particular_a case_n for_o such_o only_o concern_v this_o querie_n command_v contrary_a to_o those_o law_n then_o do_v that_o contrariety_n not_o at_o all_o prove_v such_o a_o command_n not_o to_o be_v the_o command_n of_o god_n this_o for_o the_o matter_n of_o the_o command_n and_o now_o have_v premise_v this_o i_o will_v as_o i_o promise_v that_o the_o doctor_n may_v have_v as_o fair_a play_n as_o himself_o can_v with_o take_v into_o the_o question_n his_o sincere_a person_n and_o such_o matter_n of_o the_o command_n as_o be_v not_o discoverable_a by_o the_o light_n of_o nature_n viz._n as_o himself_o term_v it_o the_o belief_n of_o matter_n of_o fact_n do_v many_o age_n ago_o and_o religious_a precept_n and_o ceremony_n thereupon_o depend_v and_o law_n mere_o positive_a or_o such_o as_o depend_v upon_o history_n and_o miraculous_a revelation_n and_o not_o the_o eternal_a moral_a law_n of_o god_n for_o these_o also_o be_v his_o phrase_n nay_o i_o will_v take_v in_o whatsoever_o else_o he_o can_v desire_v i_o provide_v it_o be_v but_o a_o command_n of_o god_n derive_v to_o the_o ear_n of_o the_o suppose_a sincere_a man._n his_o position_n will_v then_o be_v this_o at_o least_o namely_o that_o the_o law_n or_o command_n of_o god_n such_o as_o be_v describe_v or_o any_o else_o that_o be_v certain_o his_o law_n and_o command_n be_v to_o the_o sincere_a man_n like_o word_n in_o a_o unknown_a tongue_n till_o his_o conscience_n be_v convince_v and_o what_o have_v the_o doctor_n get_v by_o this_o new_a model_n of_o his_o position_n for_o still_o the_o consequence_n mention_v in_o the_o objection_n will_v be_v good_a viz._n that_o it_o be_v no_o sin_n in_o that_o sincere_a man_n to_o act_v against_o those_o law_n of_o god_n till_o his_o conscience_n be_v convince_v and_o so_o will_v the_o result_v of_o that_o consequence_n add_v in_o the_o objection_n also_o viz._n that_o those_o man_n sin_v not_o who_o think_v they_o do_v god_n good_a service_n in_o kill_v the_o apostle_n for_o first_o it_o appear_v by_o the_o example_n of_o st_n paul_n that_o those_o man_n may_v be_v sincere_a and_o right-hearty_o zealous_a in_o their_o religion_n 2._o the_o law_n of_o christian_a religion_n be_v in_o the_o doctor_n sense_n god_n positive_a law_n for_o which_o those_o man_n persecute_v the_o apostle_n and_o which_o they_o themselves_o ought_v to_o have_v embrace_v have_v hear_v they_o from_o the_o apostle_n 3._o though_o they_o hear_v they_o they_o be_v not_o convince_v in_o conscience_n that_o they_o be_v god_n law_n but_o quite_o the_o contrary_a and_o this_o appear_v in_o that_o they_o think_v they_o do_v god_n good_a service_n in_o persecute_v the_o apostle_n for_o they_o 4._o be_v not_o convince_v in_o conscience_n that_o they_o be_v god_n law_n by_o the_o doctor_n principle_n those_o law_n be_v but_o like_a word_n in_o a_o unknown_a tongue_n and_o therefore_o oblige_v not_o these_o man_n to_o obey_v they_o 5._o if_o these_o man_n be_v not_o oblige_v to_o obey_v they_o than_o they_o sin_v not_o in_o disobey_v and_o resist_v they_o nor_o in_o persecute_v the_o apostle_n to_o the_o death_n for_o assert_v those_o law_n against_o the_o jewish_a religion_n which_o they_o be_v in_o conscience_n persuade_v to_o be_v of_o god_n and_o for_o the_o defence_n of_o which_o their_o religion_n they_o be_v likewise_o persuade_v in_o conscience_n that_o this_o their_o persecute_v they_o be_v do_v of_o god_n good_a service_n but_o the_o doctor_n tell_v we_o also_o that_o invincible_a ignorance_n make_v a_o act_n involuntary_a and_o that_o therefore_o there_o be_v no_o inconvenience_n to_o admit_v that_o the_o transgression_n or_o nonobservance_n of_o these_o kind_n of_o law_n in_o he_o that_o be_v thus_o invincible_o ignorant_a and_o unconvict_v of_o they_o as_o we_o suppose_v the_o true_o sincere_a to_o be_v have_v not_o the_o proper_a nature_n of_o sin_n in_o the_o sincere_a though_o in_o the_o unsincere_a it_o may_v this_o non-reception_n of_o truth_n or_o inconviction_n may_v be_v trial_n punishment_n or_o fatal_a defect_n but_o the_o nature_n of_o sin_n it_o proper_o have_v not_o as_o be_v whole_o and_o perfect_o involuntary_a and_o absolute_o out_o of_o the_o reach_n of_o the_o party_n to_o help_v it_o for_o the_o nature_n of_o sincerity_n be_v to_o do_v all_o we_o can_v and_o no_o man_n can_v do_v any_o more_o whence_o i_o will_v easy_o admit_v that_o it_o be_v no_o sin_n to_o act_v against_o that_o be_v to_o transgress_v or_o not_o observe_v such_o positive_a law_n of_o god_n while_o a_o man_n stand_v unconvince_v in_o such_o circumstance_n as_o i_o have_v describe_v firm_o believe_v that_o it_o be_v lawful_a for_o he_o not_o to_o observe_v they_o and_o be_v full_o persuade_v that_o they_o be_v not_o he_o first_o be_v it_o not_o pretty_a sport_n that_o he_o make_v the_o transgression_n of_o god_n positive_a law_n to_o be_v sin_n in_o the_o unsincere_a person_n but_o no_o sin_n in_o the_o sincere_a i_o have_v hear_v of_o a_o opinion_n that_o god_n see_v no_o sin_n in_o his_o child_n and_o i_o have_v often_o wonder_v at_o it_o but_o this_o fancy_n of_o the_o doctor_n go_v much_o high_a god_n not_o only_o do_v not_o but_o can_v see_v sin_n in_o they_o for_o there_o be_v none_o in_o they_o to_o be_v see_v that_o which_o be_v sin_n in_o other_o be_v no_o such_o thing_n in_o they_o second_o he_o say_v that_o non-reception_n of_o truth_n in_o the_o sincere_a which_o be_v indeed_o as_o himself_o be_v force_v to_o confess_v the_o transgression_n of_o god_n positive_a law_n may_v be_v trial_n punishment_n or_o fatal_a defect_n 1._o for_o trial_n can_v any_o sober_a man_n believe_v that_o god_n will_v make_v that_o a_o trial_n of_o his_o faithful_a sincere_a servant_n which_o put_v he_o necessary_o upon_o resist_a truth_n and_o not_o believe_v but_o transgress_v his_o own_o law_n this_o the_o doctor_n hold_v that_o god_n do_v by_o convey_v into_o that_o person_n a_o false_a persuasion_n but_o if_o he_o narrow_o examine_v the_o business_n he_o will_v find_v that_o this_o can_v possible_o be_v any_o
king_n law_n this_o law_n in_o that_o case_n be_v undoubted_o promulgate_v to_o that_o man_n though_o his_o conscience_n be_v not_o convince_v indeed_o the_o doctor_n grant_v as_o much_o himself_o in_o the_o close_a of_o the_o forecited_a word_n wherefore_o that_o he_o may_v not_o be_v think_v to_o overthrow_v his_o own_o aphorism_n he_o add_v it_o be_v peculiar_a to_o the_o sincere_a and_o unfeigned_o conscientious_a that_o no_o law_n or_o command_n of_o god_n be_v deem_v as_o promulgate_v to_o they_o unless_o their_o conscience_n be_v convince_v as_o a_o man_n can_v in_o nature_n conceive_v that_o any_o speech_n or_o voice_n come_v to_o any_o man_n ear_n who_o though_o listen_v and_o expect_v yet_o can_v not_o hear_v the_o least_o whisper_n thereof_o be_v this_o peculiar_a to_o the_o sincere_a for_o what_o reason_n nay_o there_o you_o must_v pardon_v the_o doctor_n if_o you_o will_v be_v content_a to_o take_v a_o simile_n in_o lieu_n of_o a_o reason_n he_o be_v for_o you_o well_o then_o be_v it_o grant_v that_o the_o voice_n come_v not_o to_o that_o man_n ear_n who_o listen_v for_o it_o can_v not_o hear_v the_o least_o whisper_n of_o it_o apply_v this_o to_o the_o case_n in_o hand_n and_o what_o will_v result_v namely_o that_o the_o voice_n or_o command_n of_o god_n come_v not_o to_o the_o sincere_a man_n ear_n because_o though_o he_o listen_v for_o it_o yet_o he_o hear_v no_o whisper_n of_o it_o and_o what_o then_o why_o just_a so_o by_o the_o doctor_n inference_n it_o be_v peculiar_a to_o the_o sincere_a man_n that_o no_o command_n of_o god_n be_v deem_v as_o promulgate_v to_o he_o unless_o his_o conscience_n be_v convince_v reader_n you_o may_v laugh_v if_o you_o please_v but_o the_o doctor_n be_v still_o confident_a and_o conclude_v this_o principle_n methinks_v be_v so_o clear_a that_o no_o man_n shall_v doubt_v of_o it_o what_o not_o doubt_n of_o it_o no_o though_o it_o make_v conviction_n of_o conscience_n which_o be_v natural_o subsequent_a to_o the_o promulgation_n to_o be_v proper_o the_o promulgation_n itself_o his_o 2_o aphorism_n be_v that_o where_o there_o be_v no_o law_n promulgate_v it_o be_v no_o sin_n or_o transgression_n to_o act_n or_o profess_v the_o contrary_n he_o restrain_v not_o this_o to_o his_o sincere_a person_n as_o he_o do_v the_o 1_o and_o 3_o aphorism_n but_o if_o by_o promulgation_n he_o mean_v such_o a_o conviction_n of_o conscience_n as_o render_v a_o man_n ready_a to_o obey_v his_o aphorism_n be_v false_a for_o by_o this_o rule_n no_o obstinate_a kicker_n at_o god_n declare_v law_n shall_v be_v a_o sinner_n he_o will_v be_v ask_v also_o what_o be_v the_o sense_n of_o those_o word_n 〈◊〉_d act_n or_o profess_v the_o contrary_n the_o contrary_a to_o what_o to_o a_o la●…_n not_o promulgate_v for_o that_o only_o be_v premise_v to_o his_o aphorism_n now_o a_o law_n not_o promulgate_v be_v as_o to_o we_o no_o law_n and_o in_o this_o case_n just_o nothing_o here_o therefore_o the_o doctor_n contrary_a be_v contrary_a to_o that_o which_o be_v not_o or_o contrary_a to_o nothing_o his_o 3_o aph._n that_o a_o full_a and_o firm_a conviction_n of_o conscience_n in_o a_o soul_n that_o be_v sincere_a be_v the_o promulgation_n of_o a_o law_n or_o command_n from_o god_n to_o that_o soul._n sure_o the_o doctor_n have_v huge_a delight_n in_o multiply_a aphorism_n he_o have_v tell_v we_o in_o his_o first_o that_o nothing_o but_o conviction_n of_o conscience_n in_o a_o sincere_a soul_n can_v be_v the_o promulgation_n of_o god_n law_n to_o that_o soul._n and_o here_o he_o erect_v a_o new_a aphorism_n to_o assure_v we_o that_o this_o conviction_n be_v that_o promulgation_n he_o subjoin_v reason_n also_o viz._n that_o conscience_n be_v the_o ear_n of_o the_o soul_n he_o have_v annex_v to_o his_o first_o aphorism_n but_o it_o seem_v not_o home_n enough_o wherefore_o have_v there_o say_v that_o it_o be_v as_o it_o be_v the_o ear_n of_o the_o soul_n here_o he_o call_v it_o the_o very_a ear_n of_o the_o soul_n and_o then_o add_v that_o the_o soul_n can_v receive_v a_o command_n from_o god_n any_o otherwise_o then_o by_o be_v full_o and_o firm_o convince_v that_o this_o or_o that_o be_v his_o command_n this_o be_v as_o it_o be_v the_o king_n broad_a seal_n by_o which_o she_o be_v warrant_v to_o act_v let_v we_o suppose_v conscience_n to_o be_v the_o soul_n ear_n and_o examine_v the_o case_n by_o analogy_n when_o the_o ear_n receive_v a_o command_n that_o command_n must_v first_o be_v speak_v or_o promulgate_v to_o the_o ear_n else_o how_o can_v the_o ear_n imbibe_n it_o wherefore_o the_o ear_n receive_v it_o can_v be_v the_o speak_n or_o promulgate_a of_o it_o semblable_o if_o the_o conscience_n receive_v a_o command_n of_o god_n which_o it_o do_v faith_n the_o doctor_n by_o be_v convince_v that_o it_o be_v his_o command_n that_o command_n must_v upon_o necessity_n be_v some_o way_n or_o other_o promulgated_a and_o signify_v to_o the_o conscience_n before_o it_o can_v so_o receive_v it_o for_o this_o ear_n of_o the_o soul_n can_v possible_o hear_v that_o command_n before_o it_o be_v speak_v it_o follow_v then_o that_o the_o conscience_n conviction_n or_o reception_n of_o it_o as_o the_o command_n of_o god_n can_v be_v the_o promulgation_n of_o it_o the_o promulgation_n be_v one_o thing_n and_o precedent_n the_o conviction_n another_o thing_n and_o subsequent_a the_o command_n be_v promulge_v that_o the_o conscience_n may_v be_v convince_v not_o the_o conscience_n convince_v that_o the_o command_n may_v be_v promulge_v at_o highnoon_n it_o be_v not_o day_n because_o this_o man_n open_v his_o eye_n and_o see_v and_o be_v convince_v that_o it_o be_v so_o nor_o night_n because_o that_o man_n shut_v his_o that_o it_o be_v day_n light_n only_o argue_v that_o the_o sun_n ray_n be_v diffuse_v but_o it_o be_v not_o the_o very_a diffusion_n of_o those_o ray_n last_o whereas_o he_o say_v that_o this_o conviction_n be_v as_o it_o be_v the_o king_n broad_a seal_n by_o which_o the_o soul_n be_v warrant_v to_o act_v he_o say_v but_o what_o do_v as_o it_o be_v confute_v himself_o for_o doubtless_o conviction_n be_v something_o within_o we_o but_o the_o king_n broad_a seal_n which_o warrant_v a_o man_n to_o act_v be_v certain_o something_o without_o he_o his_o four_o aphorism_n that_o nothing_o that_o have_v any_o real_a turpitude_n or_o immorality_n in_o it_o can_v just_o be_v pretend_v to_o be_v the_o voice_n or_o command_n of_o god_n or_o that_o which_o be_v real_o and_o confess_o moral_a not_o to_o be_v his_o command_n either_o to_o the_o sincere_a or_o unsincere_a to_o prove_v this_o he_o add_v for_o the_o light_n and_o law_n of_o nature_n and_o of_o eternal_a immutable_a morality_n cry_v loud_a in_o the_o soul_n of_o the_o sincere_a then_o that_o it_o shall_v admit_v of_o any_o such_o foul_a motion_n much_o less_o as_o from_o god_n or_o be_v ignorant_a of_o what_o be_v so_o most_o holy_a and_o evident_a law_n see_v the_o law_n he_o speak_v of_o be_v by_o his_o own_o confession_n the_o light_n and_o law_n of_o nature_n which_o law_n the_o unsincere_a though_o he_o obey_v not_o yet_o can_v but_o be_v convince_v of_o as_o true_o as_o the_o sincere_a though_o he_o hold_v the_o truth_n in_o unrighteousness_n yet_o still_o he_o hold_v it_o because_o that_o which_o may_v be_v know_v of_o god_n be_v manifest_a in_o he_o for_o god_n have_v show_v it_o to_o he_o rom._n 1._o see_v it_o be_v the_o law_n of_o nature_n and_o light_n of_o nature_n it_o must_v be_v grave_v he_o fortify_v himself_o and_o leave_v no_o passage_n for_o the_o law_n to_o enter_v at_o but_o because_o when_o he_o know_v god_n he_o glorify_v he_o not_o as_o god_n second_o the_o doctor_n principle_n be_v that_o it_o be_v not_o inconsistent_a with_o god_n nature_n to_o convey_v into_o man_n false_a persuasion_n lest_o he_o shall_v be_v urge_v with_o the_o horrid_a consequence_n of_o they_o great_a babylon_n the_o wise_a course_n sure_a be_v to_o leave_v they_o imperfect_a and_o little_a as_o they_o now_o be_v ay_o but_o his_o follow_a word_n more_o careful_o to_o purge_v out_o the_o old_a leaven_n argue_v that_o he_o will_v have_v whatsoever_o be_v babylonish_n be_v purge_v out_o be_v it_o so_o but_o then_o let_v he_o look_v how_o to_o reconcile_v those_o word_n with_o they_o which_o precede_v viz._n to_o perfect_a the_o good_a work_n they_o have_v begin_v for_o that_o work_n as_o the_o doctor_n have_v order_v the_o business_n be_v the_o build_n of_o less_o babylon_n which_o work_n can_v be_v perfect_v if_o all_o that_o be_v babylonish_n must_v be_v root_v up_o in_o his_o 7_o section_n he_o go_v on_o touch_v the_o reform_a church_n presage_v that_o god_n will_n not_o tolerate_v nor_o connive_v any_o long_o at_o their_o childish_a squabble_n about_o nutshell_n counter_n and_o cherrystone_n these_o if_o there_o be_v any_o dependence_n and_o sense_n in_o his_o discourse_n must_v be_v their_o little_a babylon_n so_o that_o his_o long_a tragical_a invective_n be_v upon_o the_o matter_n make_v only_o against_o boys-play_a mean_o while_o those_o church_n be_v much_o behold_v to_o the_o doctor_n who_o make_v they_o a_o company_n of_o silly_a coxcomb_n who_o most_o serious_a business_n for_o such_o sure_a be_v their_o reformation_n amount_v to_o no_o more_o than_o squabble_n about_o such_o childish_a toy_n and_o trifle_n as_o nutshell_n counter_n and_o cherrystone_n his_o 8_o section_n he_o thus_o begin_v i_o have_v i_o hope_v by_o this_o time_n abundant_o satisfy_v the_o 9_o objection_n we_o come_v now_o to_o the_o ten_o and_o last_o it_o be_v well_o he_o do_v not_o define_v but_o only_o hope_v so_o whether_o his_o hope_n fail_v he_o or_o not_o i_o leave_v to_o indifferent_a judge_n and_o follow_v to_o the_o 10_o objection_n to_o which_o he_o reply_v in_o this_o 9_o chapter_n object_n 10._o he_o say_v that_o the_o law_n of_o god_n be_v like_o word_n in_o a_o unknown_a tongue_n till_o the_o conscience_n be_v convince_v lib._n 10._o cap._n 10._o as_o i_o take_v it_o whence_o it_o necessary_o follow_v that_o it_o be_v no_o sin_n to_o act_v against_o those_o law_n if_o a_o man_n believe_v it_o lawful_a then_o those_o who_o think_v they_o do_v god_n good_a service_n in_o kill_v the_o apostle_n be_v no_o sinner_n in_o do_v it_o as_o i_o take_v it_o say_v the_o objector_n which_o he_o will_v not_o have_v say_v nor_o trust_v his_o memory_n but_o review_v the_o place_n and_o set_v it_o down_o positive_o if_o he_o have_v intend_v that_o his_o objection_n as_o they_o be_v give_v to_o the_o doctor_n shall_v have_v be_v publish_v what_o the_o doctor_n have_v get_v by_o his_o publication_n of_o they_o he_o may_v thank_v himself_o for_o in_o the_o mean_a time_n it_o so_o happen_v that_o the_o objector_n charge_v he_o not_o wrongful_o in_o that_o particular_a else_o he_o shall_v have_v hear_v of_o it_o this_o say_v the_o doctor_n seem_v to_o be_v a_o smart_n and_o sting_a objection_n and_o he_o say_v so_o with_o scorn_n enough_o for_o he_o present_o add_v that_o it_o reach_v not_o the_o right_a state_n of_o the_o question_n a_o great_a fault_n i_o grant_v if_o true_a the_o very_a fault_n which_o i_o have_v so_o often_o detect_v in_o dr_n moor_n write_n to_o prove_v it_o therefore_o he_o cite_v that_o passage_n in_o his_o mystery_n whence_o the_o objection_n be_v take_v and_o subjoin_v thus_o where_o it_o be_v plain_a that_o the_o most_o essential_a part_n of_o the_o state_n of_o the_o question_n be_v omit_v by_o leave_v out_o in_o those_o that_o be_v sincere_a and_o that_o therefore_o the_o objection_n though_o very_o strong_a yet_o can_v touch_v or_o harm_v any_o position_n of_o we_o by_o those_o formidable_a consequence_n according_a as_o the_o question_n be_v by_o i_o state_v in_o this_o 10_o chapter_n both_o in_o respect_n of_o the_o person_n and_o also_o in_o respect_n of_o the_o matter_n of_o the_o command_n sect._n 9_o for_o i_o suppose_v the_o person_n sincere_a and_o what_o i_o mean_v by_o sincerity_n i_o have_v full_o explicate_v under_o my_o first_o aphorism_n and_o it_o be_v needless_a here_o again_o to_o repeat_v it_o and_o for_o the_o matter_n of_o the_o command_n i_o suppose_v it_o to_o be_v such_o thing_n as_o be_v not_o discoverable_a by_o the_o light_n of_o nature_n such_o as_o the_o belief_n of_o matter_n of_o fact_n do_v many_o age_n ago_o and_o religious_a precept_n and_o ceremony_n thereupon_o depend_v but_o i_o have_v express_o declare_v in_o my_o 4_o aphorism_n extract_v out_o of_o this_o 10_o chapter_n that_o nothing_o that_o have_v any_o real_a turpitude_n or_o immorality_n in_o it_o can_v just_o be_v pretend_v to_o be_v the_o voice_n or_o command_v of_o god_n to_o either_o the_o sincere_a or_o unsincere_a out_o of_o all_o which_o we_o be_v abundant_o furnish_v to_o answer_v this_o last_o objection_n i_o say_v therefore_o that_o such_o law_n of_o god_n as_o be_v mere_o positive_a or_o depend_v upon_o historical_a or_o miraculous_a revelation_n be_v like_o word_n in_o a_o unknown_a tongue_n to_o he_o that_o be_v true_o sincere_a till_o his_o conscience_n be_v convince_v this_o i_o say_v and_o this_o be_v all_o i_o have_v say_v in_o that_o 10_o chapter_n how_o his_o sincere_a person_n serve_v the_o doctor_n for_o a_o subterfuge_n i_o have_v show_v already_o and_o need_v not_o repeat_v it_o and_o that_o what_o he_o affirm_v to_o be_v all_o that_o he_o have_v say_v in_o that_o 10_o chapter_n be_v not_o all_o i_o can_v easy_o evince_v be_v it_o requisite_a to_o the_o present_a point_n but_o full_o to_o gratify_v he_o i_o will_v take_v into_o the_o question_n both_o the_o person_n and_o the_o matter_n of_o the_o command_n which_o he_o desire_v viz._n the_o sincere_a and_o that_o which_o have_v turpitude_n and_o immorality_n in_o it_o and_o then_o i_o hope_v the_o formidable_a consequence_n mention_v in_o the_o objection_n will_v touch_v the_o doctor_n position_n for_o the_o person_n his_o tenet_n be_v which_o he_o repeat_v in_o his_o 10_o sect._n of_o this_o 9_o chapter_n that_o the_o light_n and_o law_n of_o nature_n and_o of_o eternal_a and_o immutable_a morality_n cry_v loud_a in_o the_o soul_n of_o the_o sincere_a then_o that_o he_o shall_v admit_v of_o any_o such_o foul_a motion_n much_o less_o as_o from_o god_n or_o be_v ignorant_a of_o any_o indispensable_a morality_n as_o if_o it_o be_v not_o his_o command_n but_o what_o think_v he_o then_o of_o s._n paul_n before_o his_o conversion_n be_v not_o he_o zealous_a and_o hearty_a in_o his_o religion_n he_o say_v himself_o phil._n 3.6_o that_o he_o be_v touch_v righteousness_n which_o be_v in_o the_o law_n blameless_a that_o be_v according_a to_o the_o knowledge_n which_o he_o then_o have_v of_o religion_n his_o deportment_n be_v so_o exact_a that_o it_o can_v not_o be_v tax_v with_o any_o wickedness_n whereupon_o he_o faith_n 1_o tim._n 1._o 13._o that_o though_o he_o have_v be_v a_o blasphemer_n and_o a_o persecutor_n and_o injurious_a yet_o he_o obtain_v mercy_n because_o he_o do_v it_o ignorant_o in_o unbelief_n he_o do_v it_o not_o for_o want_v of_o sincerity_n and_o uprightness_n of_o heart_n in_o his_o present_a persuasion_n but_o only_o for_o want_v of_o knowledge_n well_o and_o what_o be_v it_o he_o then_o do_v one_o particular_a be_v persecution_n of_o the_o faithful_a and_o that_o to_o the_o death_n act._n 22._o 10._o he_o confess_v that_o he_o assent_v to_o s._n stephen_n death_n and_o doubtless_o he_o very_o think_v that_o herein_o he_o do_v god_n good_a service_n account_v s._n stephen_n a_o enemy_n to_o the_o true_a religion_n yet_o this_o act_n of_o his_o be_v a_o sin_n for_o which_o it_o be_v do_v ignorant_o notwithstanding_o the_o moral_a law_n print_v in_o his_o heart_n he_o afterward_o obtain_v mercy_n it_o appear_v then_o that_o a_o person_n most_o sincere_a in_o his_o way_n may_v in_o blind_a zeal_n run_v upon_o heinous_a sin_n and_o such_o as_o dr_n more_o hold_v to_o be_v against_o the_o moral_a law_n viz._n to_o use_v his_o own_o word_n the_o kill_v of_o good_a man_n under_o pretence_n of_o heresy_n against_o the_o judaical_a religion_n now_o what_o can_v be_v the_o reason_n of_o such_o zeal_n but_o because_o this_o sincere_a zealot_n count_v that_o he_o obey_v god_n will_n in_o this_o action_n it_o follow_v therefore_o that_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n cry_v not_o so_o loud_a in_o the_o sincere_a soul_n but_o that_o such_o a_o soul_n may_v sometime_o admit_v such_o foul_a motion_n and_o that_o as_o proceed_v from_o god_n this_o for_o the_o person_n now_o for_o the_o matter_n of_o the_o command_n viz._n thing_n not_o discoverable_a by_o the_o light_n of_o nature_n and_o these_o he_o
