the_o very_a god_n and_o who_o thou_o have_v send_v jesus_n christ_n deathy_a joh._n 17.3_o the_o second_o degree_n be_v from_o our_o death_n to_o our_o resurrection_n for_o in_o that_o time_n our_o soul_n be_v free_v from_o our_o body_n be_v withal_o free_a from_o all_o sin_n original_a and_o actual_a three_o resurrection_n after_o the_o resurrection_n when_o body_n and_o soul_n shall_v be_v eternal_a life_n way_n because_o it_o shall_v never_o end_v for_o a_o thing_n be_v say_v to_o be_v eternal_a three_o way_n first_o which_o have_v neither_o beginning_n nor_o end_n so_o god_n alone_o be_v eternal_a and_o none_o but_o he_o second_o which_o have_v no_o beginning_n and_o yet_o shall_v have_v a_o end_n so_o god_n decree_n be_v eternal_a for_o it_o never_o have_v a_o beginning_n yet_o when_o all_o thing_n decree_v be_v fulfil_v it_o shall_v have_v a_o end_n three_o which_o have_v a_o beginning_n but_o never_o shall_v have_v end_n and_o so_o the_o life_n of_o god_n saint_n have_v the_o word_n be_v this_o that_o our_o salvation_n it_o be_v the_o free_a gift_n of_o god_n give_v we_o only_o for_o the_o merit_n of_o christ_n god_n for_o observe_v i_o beseech_v you_o the_o apostle_n word_n when_o he_o have_v say_v the_o wage_n of_o sin_n be_v death_n he_o do_v not_o add_v and_o say_v but_o the_o wage_n of_o righteousness_n be_v eternal_a life_n but_o he_o call_v that_o the_o gift_n of_o god_n to_o make_v we_o understand_v say_v damascene_fw-la that_o god_n bring_v we_o to_o eternal_a life_n mere_o for_o his_o own_o mercy_n not_o for_o our_o merit_n or_o else_o sure_o the_o apostle_n will_v have_v make_v the_o latter_a part_n of_o the_o sentence_n answerable_a to_o the_o former_a but_o here_o perhaps_o some_o may_v ask_v why_o eternal_a life_n shall_v not_o be_v the_o wage_n of_o righteousness_n quest_n as_o well_o as_o death_n the_o wage_n of_o sin_n i_o answer_v answ_n because_o there_o be_v not_o the_o same_o reason_n between_o sin_n and_o righteousness_n for_o first_o sin_n be_v our_o own_o it_o merit_v it_o but_o righteousness_n be_v none_o of_o our_o own_o it_o be_v the_o holy_a ghost_n and_o it_o be_v due_a to_o god_n then_o again_o sin_n be_v perfect_o evil_a and_o so_o it_o deserve_v death_n but_o our_o righteousness_n inherent_a be_v not_o perfect_o good_a it_o be_v imperfect_a in_o this_o life_n and_o nothing_o that_o be_v imperfect_o good_a can_v merit_v as_o wage_n eternal_a life_n therefore_o the_o apostle_n make_v such_o a_o manifest_a difference_n between_o they_o he_o call_v death_n the_o wage_n of_o sin_n but_o eternal_a life_n the_o gift_n of_o god_n it_o be_v the_o free_a gift_n of_o god_n through_o christ_n indeed_o eternal_a life_n sometime_o many_o time_n in_o scripture_n be_v call_v a_o reward_n but_o original_o from_o mercy_n yet_o accidental_o it_o come_v to_o be_v justice_n thus_o because_o god_n have_v tie_v himself_o by_o promise_n to_o reward_n now_o promise_n be_v debt_n from_o a_o just_a man_n austin_n thus_o the_o lord_n may_v be_v account_v a_o debtor_n how_o say_v saint_n austin_n as_o a_o promiser_n if_o he_o have_v not_o promise_v eternal_a life_n otherwise_o he_o owe_v we_o nothing_o at_o all_o much_o less_o eternal_a life_n which_o be_v so_o great_a a_o thing_n yet_o it_o may_v be_v doubt_v quest_n how_o eternal_a life_n be_v the_o free_a gift_n of_o god_n see_v it_o be_v give_v for_o the_o merit_n of_o christ_n as_o it_o be_v here_o express_v the_o gift_n of_o god_n through_o jesus_n christ_n our_o lord_n that_o be_v for_o the_o merit_n of_o christ_n now_o a_o
man_n that_o give_v a_o thing_n upon_o merit_n he_o give_v it_o not_o free_o i_o answer_v it_o be_v free_a in_o respect_n of_o we_o answ_n whatsoever_o christ_n have_v do_v we_o do_v not_o merit_v use_n to_o conclude_v with_o the_o time_n first_o 8._o it_o serve_v to_o confute_v our_o adversary_n of_o the_o church_n of_o rome_n in_o the_o point_n of_o merit_n they_o look_v for_o heaven_n and_o gift_n of_o god_n that_o eternal_a life_n be_v not_o a_o retribution_n to_o our_o work_n but_o the_o free_a gift_n of_o god_n when_o god_n crown_v our_o merit_n he_o crown_v nothing_o else_o but_o his_o own_o free_a gift_n these_o and_o many_o other_o sentence_n we_o find_v among_o the_o ancient_a father_n plain_o convince_a our_o adversary_n that_o in_o this_o point_n they_o swerve_v not_o only_o from_o scripture_n but_o from_o all_o sound_a antiquity_n second_o we_o then_o to_o come_v to_o ourselves_o this_o shall_v humble_v we_o in_o respect_n of_o our_o own_o deserve_n do_v all_o we_o that_o must_v bring_v we_o to_o heaven_n three_o comfort_n here_o be_v comfort_n for_o the_o child_n of_o god_n in_o that_o this_o inestimable_a treasure_n of_o eternal_a life_n be_v not_o commit_v to_o our_o keep_n but_o god_n have_v it_o in_o his_o keep_n it_o be_v his_o gist_n it_o be_v not_o commit_v to_o the_o rot_a box_n of_o our_o merit_n than_o we_o can_v have_v no_o certainty_n of_o it_o the_o devil_n will_v easy_o pick_v the_o lock_n yea_o without_o pick_v he_o will_v shake_v in_o piece_n the_o crazy_a joint_n of_o the_o best_a work_n we_o do_v he_o will_v steal_v it_o from_o we_o and_o take_v it_o away_o and_o deprive_v we_o of_o this_o excellent_a benefit_n but_o the_o lord_n have_v deal_v better_a for_o we_o he_o have_v keep_v it_o in_o his_o own_o hand_n he_o have_v lay_v it_o up_o in_o the_o cabinet_n of_o his_o own_o mercy_n and_o love_n that_o never_o fail_v for_o with_o everlasting_a mercy_n he_o have_v compassion_n on_o we_o isa_n 54._o he_o love_v we_o with_o a_o everlasting_a love_n it_o be_v his_o mercy_n that_o we_o be_v not_o consume_v because_o his_o compassion_n fail_v not_o and_o who_o he_o love_v he_o love_v to_o the_o end_n it_o be_v especial_o when_o we_o consider_v it_o be_v all_o that_o god_n require_v of_o we_o as_o he_o say_v psal_n 50._o call_v upon_o i_o in_o the_o day_n of_o trouble_n i_o will_v hear_v thou_o and_o deliver_v thou_o and_o what_o shall_v thou_o do_v thou_o shall_v glorify_v i_o glorify_v god_n and_o be_v thankful_a to_o he_o be_v all_o the_o tribute_n we_o be_v to_o pay_v to_o this_o our_o royal_a eleven_o chapter_n he_o show_v the_o absolute_a necessity_n of_o faith_n to_o a_o acceptable_a walk_n and_o well-pleasing_a of_o god_n for_o without_o faith_n vers_fw-la 6._o it_o be_v impossible_a to_o consider_v that_o death_n be_v not_o only_o a_o subdue_v but_o a_o reconcile_a enemy_n of_o a_o enemy_n it_o be_v make_v to_o be_v a_o friend_n it_o be_v so_o to_o all_o the_o faithful_a such_o shall_v be_v cast_v into_o the_o lake_n of_o fire_n the_o meaning_n be_v i_o think_v they_o shall_v be_v shut_v up_o in_o the_o bottomless_a pit_n where_o they_o shall_v only_o have_v leave_n to_o peter_n will_v have_v we_o look_v for_o new_a heaven_n and_o a_o new_a earth_n wherein_o dwell_v righteousness_n but_o never_o look_v thou_o to_o dwell_v in_o that_o heaven_n where_o righteousness_n desire_v for_o the_o come_n of_o christ_n there_o be_v many_o that_o pretend_v they_o wait_v and_o desire_v for_o the_o come_n of_o christ_n when_o a_o man_n be_v under_o any_o affliction_n or_o in_o any_o trouble_n then_o oh_o that_o christ_n will_v come_v and_o end_v these_o trouble_n you_o shall_v here_o a_o man_n that_o be_v abuse_v and_o wrong_v by_o the_o oppression_n and_o injury_n of_o other_o and_o by_o the_o unrighteous_a deal_n of_o wicked_a and_o ungodly_a man_n cry_v out_o oh_o that_o christ_n will_v come_v and_o put_v a_o end_n to_o these_o evil_a time_n right_o yea_o but_o by_o the_o ground_n of_o it_o what_o be_v the_o ground_n of_o thy_o desire_n what_o be_v the_o motive_n that_o encourage_v thou_o to_o long_o for_o the_o come_n of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n 11.1_o that_o which_o be_v the_o ground_n of_o faith_n be_v the_o ground_n of_o hope_n that_o be_v the_o promise_n faith_n be_v the_o ground_n of_o thing_n hope_v for_o and_o the_o word_n and_o promise_n be_v the_o warrant_n of_o faith_n faith_n and_o hope_n look_v both_o on_o this_o the_o free_a promise_n of_o god_n so_o it_o be_v say_v of_o abraham_n that_o be_v believe_v above_o hope_n because_o be_v know_v there_o shall_v be_v a_o judgement_n for_o let_v a_o man_n commit_v secret_a sin_n that_o none_o know_v but_o god_n and_o he_o yet_o many_o time_n he_o feel_v hellish_a horror_n which_o be_v a_o manifest_a prose_n that_o conscience_n see_v and_o apprehend_v god_n as_o the_o supreme_a judge_n that_o will_v call_v all_o man_n to_o a_o account_n for_o their_o sin_n thus_o you_o hear_v the_o reason_n why_o there_o must_v be_v a_o judgement_n the_o manner_n of_o this_o judgement_n consist_v in_o these_o particular_n first_o judgement_n it_o shall_v be_v the_o last_o judgement_n after_o which_o there_o shall_v be_v no_o other_o which_o declare_v the_o terribleness_n of_o it_o in_o this_o life_n while_o there_o be_v life_n there_o be_v hope_n let_v the_o wicked_a forsake_v his_o way_n and_o turn_v to_o the_o lord_n he_o will_v be_v gracious_a to_o he_o but_o then_o the_o sentence_n shall_v not_o be_v reverse_v then_o there_o can_v be_v no_o appeal_n from_o that_o judge_n and_o judgement_n again_o it_o shall_v be_v a_o general_n judgement_n judgement_n which_o be_v the_o second_o thing_n god_n judge_v in_o this_o world_n and_o that_o both_o in_o life_n and_o in_o death_n he_o judge_v in_o life_n by_o chastise_v his_o child_n for_o their_o fault_n and_o avenge_a himself_o upon_o his_o enemy_n he_o judge_v every_o man_n at_o death_n but_o then_o there_o shall_v be_v a_o general_n judgement_n of_o all_o 2._o cor._n 10._o we_o must_v all_o appear_v before_o the_o judgement_n seat_n of_o christ_n jndgement_n in_o the_o three_o place_n it_o shall_v be_v a_o manifest_a
