desert_n it_o be_v the_o wage_n of_o sin_n rom._n 6._o ult_n our_o sin_n deserve_v hell_n but_o our_o grace_n do_v not_o heaven_n and_o whereas_o it_o may_v be_v think_v a_o unjust_a thing_n in_o god_n for_o a_o transient_a sin_n to_o inflict_v eternal_a torment_n yet_o that_o be_v no_o wonder_n torment_n for_o 1._o we_o see_v among_o man_n that_o malefactor_n for_o a_o crime_n commit_v by_o they_o which_o be_v act_v in_o a_o very_a short_a time_n do_v yet_o suffer_v death_n which_o as_o to_o this_o world_n be_v their_o eternal_a destruction_n they_o can_v never_o come_v back_o to_o live_v here_o again_o 2._o all_o sin_n be_v commit_v against_o god_n who_o be_v of_o infinite_a glory_n have_v thereby_o a_o infinite_a guilt_n and_o so_o deserve_v eternal_a damnation_n hence_o it_o come_v into_o this_o world_n oh_o why_o be_v we_o busy_a in_o unnecessary_a thing_n for_o what_o end_n and_o purpose_n be_v you_o make_v be_v it_o to_o heap_v up_o wealth_n to_o satisfy_v the_o lust_n and_o pleasure_n of_o the_o flesh_n no_o it_o be_v at_o last_o to_o enjoy_v this_o eternal_a life_n the_o heathen_a do_v well_o call_v man_n the_o orison_n of_o time_n and_o eternity_n for_o in_o respect_n of_o his_o body_n he_o partake_v of_o time_n in_o respect_n of_o his_o soul_n eternity_n so_o than_o the_o chief_a and_o more_o excellent_a part_n of_o thou_o that_o which_o make_v thou_o make_v it_o useless_a for_o there_o need_v not_o any_o more_o two_o meritorious_a cause_n of_o salvation_n than_o two_o sun_n in_o the_o firmament_n or_o else_o if_o christ_n merit_v as_o the_o remote_a cause_n and_o we_o as_o the_o proxime_fw-la cause_n than_o salvation_n be_v to_o be_v attribute_v more_o formal_o to_o our_o grace_n than_o christ_n suffering_n so_o that_o as_o if_o the_o sun_n shall_v enlighten_v the_o star_n that_o they_o can_v make_v the_o day_n this_o will_v take_v off_o from_o the_o immediate_a glory_n of_o the_o sun_n though_o that_o be_v remote_o the_o cause_n of_o it_o thus_o though_o christ_n be_v the_o cause_n of_o our_o grace_n yet_o because_o our_o grace_n be_v in_o itself_o make_v the_o mere_a meritorious_a cause_n therefore_o it_o will_v obscure_v the_o glory_n of_o christ_n oh_o then_o let_v the_o gracious_a man_n take_v heed_n of_o any_o proud_a rise_n or_o stir_n of_o heart_n of_o any_o proud_a opinion_n or_o doctrine_n which_o may_v secret_o fermentate_n he_o herein_o four_o neither_o be_v the_o connexion_n between_o grace_n and_o glory_n causal_n in_o a_o physical_a and_o natural_a way_n as_o the_o fire_n burn_v or_o as_o the_o acorn_n will_v natural_o grow_v into_o a_o great_a oak_n it_o be_v ordinary_o say_v that_o grace_n be_v the_o seed_n of_o glory_n or_o grace_n be_v glory_n begin_v and_o glory_n be_v grace_n consummate_v but_o all_o this_o be_v not_o so_o to_o be_v understand_v as_o if_o grace_n by_o any_o intrinsical_a natural_a virtue_n do_v grow_v up_o to_o glory_n as_o a_o child_n do_v to_o a_o man_n no_o god_n may_v if_o he_o have_v please_v when_o we_o have_v do_v the_o high_a act_n of_o grace_n yet_o have_v annihilate_v we_o though_o we_o have_v fight_v the_o good_a fight_n of_o faith_n yet_o he_o may_v not_o have_v give_v we_o a_o crown_n of_o glory_n for_o this_o heavenly_a glory_n deny_v grace_n only_o by_o virtue_n of_o a_o promise_n have_v not_o god_n promise_v and_o merciful_o annex_v such_o glorious_a privilege_n our_o grace_n of_o themselves_o can_v not_o have_v procure_v they_o five_o therefore_o be_v grace_n and_o glory_n connex_v partly_o from_o the_o promise_n of_o for_o strict_a commutative_a righteousness_n but_o the_o righteousness_n of_o god_n promise_n and_o fidelity_n so_o that_o god_n look_v upon_o the_o promise_n as_o on_o the_o rainbow_n which_o be_v a_o sure_a evidence_n that_o he_o will_v never_o destroy_v the_o world_n more_o and_o then_o grace_n be_v a_o antecedent_n to_o glory_n because_o grace_n be_v a_o ordinable_a mean_n to_o glory_n without_o holiness_n no_o man_n shall_v see_v god_n heb._n 12.14_o sin_n can_v in_o its_o nature_n be_v appoint_v the_o way_n to_o happiness_n therefore_o the_o ancient_a say_n be_v that_o it_o be_v via_fw-la not_o causa_fw-la regni_fw-la so_o that_o by_o god_n command_v and_o appoint_v the_o way_n it_o be_v as_o indispensable_o necessary_a as_o if_o it_o be_v a_o cause_n and_o then_o last_o it_o plead_v this_o as_o well_o as_o the_o strong_a the_o low_a believer_n may_v say_v i_o have_v as_o good_a and_o as_o faithful_a a_o promise_n as_o the_o strong_a even_o a_o cup_n of_o cold_a water_n give_v to_o a_o prophet_n upon_o right_a ground_n shall_v have_v a_o everlasting_a kingdom_n and_o therefore_o that_o can_v be_v for_o any_o worth_n or_o dignity_n in_o the_o good_a duty_n perform_v what_o be_v less_o than_o a_o cup_n of_o water_n and_o that_o cold_a yet_o for_o this_o there_o be_v promise_v a_o everlasting_a kingdom_n and_o certain_o if_o paul_n think_v 2_o cor._n 4.17_o these_o affliction_n though_o in_o themselves_o never_o so_o great_a yet_o nothing_o comparable_a to_o that_o eternal_a weight_n of_o glory_n much_o less_o than_o be_v those_o less_o affliction_n comparable_a to_o it_o and_o so_o i_o proceed_v to_o the_o second_o doctrine_n christ_n pray_v that_o believer_n though_o thus_o sanctify_v and_o perfect_v in_o one_o may_v be_v make_v glorious_a now_o this_o plain_o suppose_v that_o glory_n be_v a_o gift_n gift_n that_o it_o do_v not_o follow_v upon_o our_o high_a degree_n of_o sanctification_n and_o therefore_o when_o the_o apostle_n have_v say_v the_o express_v themselves_o that_o the_o cause_n of_o man_n damnation_n be_v whole_o from_o his_o sin_n and_o man_n sin_n be_v whole_o and_o free_o from_o himself_o that_o he_o be_v not_o necessitate_v and_o compel_v to_o sin_n by_o such_o suppose_a pre-definitive_a decree_n but_o that_o he_o sin_v of_o himself_o and_o so_o his_o perdition_n be_v of_o himself_o as_o full_o as_o if_o there_o be_v no_o such_o decree_n at_o all_o these_o two_o thing_n the_o orthodox_n suppose_v that_o the_o scripture_n affirm_v both_o such_o decree_n of_o god_n and_o also_o man_n himself_o to_o be_v the_o only_a confess_v the_o weakness_n and_o imbecility_n of_o our_o apprehension_n then_o to_o deny_v the_o thing_n assert_v in_o scripture_n in_o the_o second_o place_n god_n be_v righteous_a as_o a_o judge_n for_o then_o justice_n and_o liberality_n a_o gift_n and_o reward_n will_v be_v all_o one_o so_o that_o the_o godly_a indeed_o who_o be_v partaker_n of_o convert_v grace_n they_o have_v cause_n to_o admire_v and_o bless_v god_n for_o his_o unspeakable_a goodness_n but_o the_o wicked_a who_o continue_v and_o perish_v in_o his_o sin_n may_v say_v my_o destruction_n and_o damnation_n be_v of_o
