or_o unregenerate_a part_n walk_v after_o the_o spirit_n i.e._n either_o first_o gospel-walking_a to_o walk_v after_o or_o according_a to_o the_o gospel_n of_o jesus_n christ_n or_o second_o renew_v walk_v to_o walk_v according_a to_o the_o rule_n principle_n motion_n and_o dictate_v of_o the_o new_a man_n or_o regenerate_a part_n in_o a_o saint_n now_o in_o say_v that_o these_o two_o be_v to_o be_v understand_v by_o flesh_n and_o spirit_n i_o do_v not_o exclude_v any_o of_o those_o lay_v down_o in_o the_o general_a explication_n of_o the_o word_n no_o i_o do_v think_v that_o by_o flesh_n the_o law_n as_o the_o law_n be_v a_o covenant_n of_o work_n that_o be_v legal-walking_a that_o so_o we_o be_v to_o understand_v here_o i_o prove_v thus_o because_o legal-walking_a be_v here_o call_v flesh_n and_o the_o law_n be_v no_o where_n in_o scripture_n call_v flesh_n but_o as_o the_o same_o be_v consider_v under_o this_o notion_n as_o it_o be_v a_o covenant_n of_o work_n if_o you_o take_v the_o law_n in_o its_o self_n that_o be_v for_o the_o matter_n of_o it_o the_o substance_n of_o those_o thing_n the_o law_n require_v so_o the_o apostle_n say_v the_o contrary_a of_o the_o law_n rom._n 7.14_o the_o law_n be_v spiritual_a the_o matter_n or_o substance_n of_o the_o law_n be_v spiritual_a enjoin_v spiritual_a duty_n require_v spiritual_a performance_n and_o design_v to_o make_v the_o creature_n spiritual_a so_o that_o the_o law_n in_o its_o self_n be_v not_o flesh_n but_o rather_o it_o be_v a_o spiritual_a and_o a_o everlasting_a rule_n of_o righteousness_n but_o now_o promise_n and_o threaten_v of_o the_o law_n if_o there_o be_v no_o other_o principle_n or_o motive_n but_o the_o law_n if_o the_o law_n be_v the_o root_n and_o rise_v of_o all_o though_o he_o shall_v strive_v to_o live_v like_o a_o angel_n pray_v ten_o time_n a_o day_n fast_o and_o weep_v and_o mourn_v for_o his_o sin_n till_o he_o can_v mourn_v no_o long_o watch_v against_o and_o resist_v sin_n with_o the_o utmost_a care_n industry_n and_o diligence_n strive_v to_o be_v as_o holy_a as_o pass_v yet_o all_o this_o his_o obedience_n will_v be_v but_o legal_a a_o walk_n after_o the_o flesh_n a_o end_n in_o what_o he_o do_v then_o do_v he_o walk_v legal_o after_o the_o flesh_n and_o according_a to_o the_o rate_n of_o the_o covenant_n of_o work_n in_o the_o first_o make_v of_o the_o covenant_n of_o work_n with_o adam_n in_o paradise_n life_n be_v propose_v as_o his_o reward_n and_o have_v adam_n stand_v and_o obey_v according_a to_o the_o promise_n and_o tenor_n of_o that_o covenant_n the_o
