degree_n of_o glory_n and_o happiness_n in_o heaven_n as_o of_o punishment_n in_o hell_n and_o that_o the_o respective_a measure_n of_o each_o condition_n will_v be_v allot_v and_o assign_v according_a to_o such_o proportion_n of_o good_a and_o evil_a as_o upon_o a_o exact_a and_o infallible_a evidence_n before_o a_o impartial_a judge_n shall_v be_v find_v in_o the_o person_n to_o be_v judge_v with_o relation_n to_o the_o bodily_a life_n pass_v so_o be_v that_o judgement_n describe_v by_o st_n john_n rev._n 20.12_o and_o i_o see_v the_o dead_a both_o small_a and_o great_a stand_v positive_a reward_n ordinary_o give_v to_o the_o practice_n of_o this_o virtue_n and_o may_v also_o be_v available_a towards_o the_o abatement_n of_o the_o degree_n of_o positive_a punishment_n in_o the_o life_n to_o come_v i_o say_v of_o positive_a punishment_n common_o call_v paena_fw-la sensûs_fw-la pain_n or_o punishment_n of_o sense_n because_o the_o privative_a punishment_n poena_n damni_fw-la the_o punishment_n of_o loss_n can_v admit_v of_o no_o degree_n of_o abatement_n for_o the_o loss_n of_o eternal_a life_n will_v be_v equal_a to_o all_o that_o be_v not_o save_v and_o can_v be_v no_o other_o from_o the_o nature_n of_o the_o thing_n though_o the_o sense_n and_o affliction_n of_o that_o loss_n may_v differ_v much_o according_a to_o the_o different_a capacity_n man_n be_v in_o to_o obtain_v that_o life_n and_o the_o inequality_n of_o the_o mean_n thereof_o receive_v and_o reject_v or_o neglect_v for_o in_o this_o respect_n the_o loss_n of_o eternal_a life_n will_v be_v more_o tolerable_a as_o our_o saviour_n say_v for_o sodom_n and_o gomorrah_n for_o tyre_n and_o sidon_n that_o never_o have_v the_o like_a mean_n of_o salvation_n though_o they_o be_v not_o exclude_v from_o all_o mean_n or_o possibility_n thereof_o than_o it_o will_v be_v for_o bethsaida_n or_o capernaum_n and_o so_o it_o will_v be_v proportionable_o for_o all_o people_n under_o like_a inequality_n of_o the_o mean_n of_o life_n neither_o be_v it_o possible_a for_o any_o person_n that_o never_o have_v any_o such_o mean_n as_o some_o other_o have_v and_o therefore_o can_v be_v conscience_n for_o the_o same_o reason_n must_v needs_o be_v abate_v also_o to_o he_o that_o have_v do_v some_o good_a work_n of_o charity_n in_o this_o life_n because_o his_o conscience_n can_v charge_v he_o at_o the_o same_o rate_n as_o it_o must_v needs_o do_v he_o that_o have_v total_o neglect_v they_o under_o a_o equal_a or_o large_a ability_n whether_o the_o substance_n of_o this_o interpretation_n of_o the_o text_n either_o necessary_a or_o most_o probable_a must_v be_v leave_v to_o the_o judgement_n of_o the_o reader_n but_o that_o it_o be_v neither_o popish_a nor_o singular_a as_o some_o may_v be_v ready_a to_o charge_v it_o i_o must_v take_v leave_n to_o challenge_v while_o i_o find_v that_o this_o sense_n of_o the_o word_n have_v neither_o be_v receive_v by_o all_o papist_n nor_o reject_v by_o all_o protestant_n some_o of_o the_o pontifician_n baulk_a this_o interpretation_n other_o as_o estius_n tirinus_n and_o other_o which_o i_o insist_v upon_o do_v give_v entangle_v and_o corrupt_v a_o great_a part_n of_o christian_a doctrine_n by_o their_o misinterpret_v the_o father_n determine_v the_o simplicity_n of_o their_o popular_a expression_n by_o their_o own_o capricious_a and_o litigious_a conceit_n into_o such_o dogmatical_a sense_n as_o be_v never_o think_v of_o by_o the_o ancient_n but_o in_o the_o particular_a controversy_n about_o merit_n satisfaction_n and_o justification_n by_o work_n there_o have_v be_v so_o much_o of_o logomachy_n or_o word-bate_a as_o might_n in_o my_o opinion_n be_v fair_o compromise_v or_o accord_v by_o judicious_a arbitratour_n who_o mind_n be_v free_a from_o all_o prejudice_n but_o that_o against_o contention_n and_o division_n and_o be_v more_o zealous_a for_o unity_n and_o concord_n than_o for_o disputable_a and_o opinionative_n truth_n but_o for_o to_o undertake_v that_o task_n in_o this_o place_n will_v not_o be_v reasonable_a that_o all_o pardon_n of_o sin_n be_v found_v upon_o the_o
