then_o when_o the_o spirit_n seem_v to_o absent_v itself_o from_o the_o soul_n and_o this_o be_v that_o which_o the_o apostle_n speak_v of_o heb._n 12._o 12._o brethren_n you_o have_v forget_v the_o consolation_n 12._o that_o be_v your_o spiritual_a strength_n may_v lie_v hide_v dead_a and_o forget_v but_o the_o spirit_n will_v return_v and_o then_o you_o shall_v find_v good_a again_o the_o four_o way_n whereby_o the_o spirit_n strengthen_v grace_n in_o wor._n the_o soul_n be_v by_o give_v efficacy_n and_o power_n unto_o the_o mean_n of_o growth_n which_o be_v a_o special_a advantage_n the_o holy_a ghost_n have_v not_o this_o strength_n and_o whatsoever_o strength_n a_o man_n may_v seem_v to_o have_v to_o himself_o if_o it_o proceed_v not_o from_o the_o spirit_n it_o be_v no_o true_a strength_n but_o a_o half_a and_o counterfeit_a seem_a strength_n for_o a_o man_n may_v thus_o argue_v from_o the_o cause_n to_o the_o effect_n that_o that_o be_v the_o true_a cause_n of_o strength_n must_v needs_o bring_v forth_o strong_a effect_n and_o on_o the_o contrary_a that_o which_o be_v not_o the_o true_a cause_n of_o strength_n can_v bring_v forth_o the_o effect_n of_o full_a of_o fire_n that_o be_v it_o will_v fill_v you_o with_o spiritual_a heat_n and_o zeal_n now_o if_o you_o find_v this_o in_o you_o than_o it_o be_v the_o sanctify_a spirit_n and_o therefore_o john_n say_v of_o christ_n in_o matth._n 3._o that_o he_o will_v baptize_v they_o with_o the_o spirit_n and_o with_o fire_n that_o be_v he_o will_v baptize_v they_o 3._o with_o that_o spirit_n who_o nature_n be_v as_o fire_n that_o will_v fill_v you_o full_a of_o spiritual_a heat_n and_o zeal_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v say_v in_o act_n 2._o that_o they_o have_v tongue_n
what_o abundance_n of_o peace_n and_o wealth_n be_v for_o even_o these_o thing_n we_o most_o esteem_v but_o this_o be_v not_o the_o thing_n for_o here_o we_o need_v no_o exhortation_n second_o spiritual_a mercy_n those_o be_v they_o we_o do_v not_o hunger_n after_o we_o be_v backward_o enough_o to_o desire_v they_o and_o therefore_o we_o have_v so_o few_o of_o they_o therefore_o that_o which_o i_o must_v press_v upon_o you_o be_v to_o desire_v earnest_o these_o spiritual_a mercy_n if_o you_o desire_v they_o much_o you_o shall_v have_v much_o of_o they_o for_o you_o must_v know_v before_o you_o have_v they_o god_n will_v teach_v you_o to_o know_v how_o precious_a they_o be_v for_o if_o he_o have_v command_v we_o not_o to_o cast_v pearl_n before_o swine_n he_o himself_o will_v be_v a_o spiritual_a mercy_n this_o if_o you_o will_v hunger_n much_o after_o you_o shall_v have_v it_o yea_o and_o according_a to_o the_o measure_n of_o your_o desire_n but_o when_o you_o prize_v heart_n therefore_o if_o you_o will_v have_v christ_n and_o the_o spirit_n labour_v to_o get_v holiness_n the_o four_o sign_n whereby_o you_o may_v know_v whether_o you_o sign_n have_v the_o spirit_n
