abound_v that_o there_o can_v be_v no_o live_n for_o god_n people_n in_o the_o world_n ii_o point_n how_o do_v these_o depend_v one_o upon_o a_o other_o our_o forgive_n of_o man_n and_o god_n forgive_a we_o ans._n we_o must_v not_o conceive_v that_o our_o forgive_a man_n their_o trespass_n be_v a_o cause_n why_o god_n forgive_v we_o for_o we_o be_v by_o nature_n dead_a in_o sin_n and_o can_v not_o do_v any_o good_a thing_n of_o ourselves_o till_o we_o be_v enable_v thereunto_o of_o god_n but_o our_o forgive_n be_v a_o sign_n that_o god_n have_v forgive_v we_o be_v indeed_o a_o fruit_n of_o our_o reconciliation_n with_o god_n for_o it_o be_v a_o sign_n of_o true_a repentance_n which_o be_v a_o fruit_n of_o faith_n whereby_o we_o apprehend_v the_o mercy_n of_o god_n for_o the_o pardon_n of_o our_o sin_n in_o christ._n iii_o point_n how_o shall_v our_o forgiveness_n go_v before_o god_n forgive_a god_n we_o for_o so_o the_o word_n seem_v to_o import_v if_o you_o forgive_v your_o heavenly_a father_n will_v forgive_v you_o etc._n etc._n ans._n the_o pardon_n of_o sin_n which_o god_n give_v must_v be_v consider_v two_o way_n first_o as_o it_o be_v give_v in_o of_o life_n there_o be_v no_o pardon_n of_o sin_n before_o god_n will_v thou_o therefore_o be_v assure_v in_o thy_o conscience_n of_o god_n special_a favour_n towards_o thou_o in_o christ_n then_o say_v between_o any_o party_n if_o one_o be_v marry_v mean_v the_o husband_n as_o well_o as_o the_o wife_n to_o confute_v the_o opinion_n of_o some_o jew_n and_o by_o some_o law_n also_o maintain_v that_o the_o man_n have_v a_o privilege_n above_o the_o woman_n so_o as_o he_o break_v not_o wedlock_n when_o he_o go_v in_o to_o another_o woman_n beside_o his_o wife_n which_o be_v false_a for_o though_o he_o have_v a_o prerogative_n over_o his_o wife_n in_o be_v her_o head_n yet_o he_o have_v no_o privilege_n to_o free_v he_o from_o matrimonial_a fidelity_n but_o be_v as_o much_o bind_v to_o keep_v himself_o unto_o his_o wife_n as_o she_o be_v to_o keep_v herself_o to_o he_o the_o pre-eminence_n of_o superiority_n can_v free_v the_o husband_n from_o the_o bond_n of_o marriage_n the_o husband_n be_v bind_v to_o the_o wife_n as_o much_o as_o the_o wife_n be_v to_o the_o husband_n and_o she_o have_v power_n over_o his_o body_n as_o much_o as_o he_o have_v over_o she_o 1._o cor._n hypocrite_n we_o must_v understand_v hypocrite_n he_o that_o in_o heart_n and_o speech_n be_v prone_a to_o conceive_v and_o give_v rash_a judgement_n of_o other_o man_n saying_n and_o action_n and_o good_a cause_n there_o be_v why_o he_o be_v so_o call_v for_o this_o man_n have_v the_o sin_n of_o hypocrisy_n reign_v in_o he_o he_o desire_v to_o seem_v more_o holy_a than_o other_o and_o therefore_o give_v himself_o to_o censure_v other_o that_o by_o debase_v of_o other_o he_o may_v advance_v himself_o see_v this_o in_o the_o hypocritical_a pharisie_n i_o thank_v god_n that_o i_o be_o not_o as_o other_o man_n extortioner_n unjust_a adulterer_n or_o even_o as_o this_o publican_n i_o fast_o twice_o in_o the_o week_n etc._n etc._n luk._n 18._o 10_o 11._o but_o they_o must_v know_v that_o this_o censure_v of_o other_o be_v a_o fruit_n of_o hypocrisy_n arise_v out_o of_o a_o hollow_a heart_n the_o second_o circumstance_n be_v the_o time_n when_o this_o duty_n be_v to_o be_v practise_v correction_n namely_o in_o the_o first_o place_n first_o cast_v out_o etc._n etc._n here_o than_o we_o have_v a_o notable_a direction_n for_o the_o manner_n and_o order_n of_o give_v brotherly_a correction_n it_o must_v begin_v with_o a_o man_n own_o self_n and_o end_n in_o a_o man_n neighbour_n and_o by_o proportion_n look_v by_o how_o much_o every_o one_o be_v near_a unto_o we_o so_o much_o the_o soon_o must_v he_o be_v correct_v and_o judge_v if_o thou_o be_v a_o private_a man_n that_o be_v to_o give_v censure_n first_o begin_v with_o thyself_o then_o judge_v thy_o kindred_n three_o thy_o acquaintance_n and_o last_o of_o all_o stranger_n so_o a_o master_n of_o a_o family_n must_v first_o judge_v himself_o than_o his_o own_o family_n and_o after_o he_o may_v judge_v his_o friend_n and_o neighbour_n and_o last_o of_o all_o stranger_n and_o the_o like_a must_v every_o superior_a practice_n in_o his_o place_n now_o by_o this_o order_n to_o be_v observe_v in_o brotherly_a censure_n we_o may_v easy_o see_v that_o the_o world_n be_v far_o wide_a in_o the_o practice_n of_o this_o duty_n for_o every_o one_o think_v well_o of_o himself_o and_o also_o of_o his_o friend_n and_o acquaintance_n and_o therefore_o spare_v they_o and_o will_v not_o censure_v they_o but_o for_o stranger_n they_o will_v he_o not_o stick_v to_o reproach_n and_o
to_o condemn_v but_o this_o be_v a_o preposterous_a course_n swerve_v far_o from_o this_o direction_n of_o our_o saviour_n christ._n and_o then_o shall_v thou_o see_v clear_o to_o cast_v out_o the_o god_n will_v certify_v thy_o conscience_n of_o thy_o election_n and_o reconciliation_n but_o if_o thou_o suffer_v thyself_o to_o lie_v in_o sin_n thou_o may_v long_o wait_v for_o this_o certificate_n and_o yet_o never_o have_v it_o iii_o use._n many_o man_n there_o be_v that_o will_v be_v of_o no_o religion_n because_o religion_n there_o be_v so_o many_o and_o diverse_a opinion_n about_o matter_n of_o religion_n in_o the_o world_n and_o therefore_o till_o some_o general_a council_n have_v determine_v of_o the_o truth_n of_o religion_n they_o will_v live_v as_o they_o do_v but_o these_o man_n must_v know_v that_o they_o take_v a_o wrong_a course_n if_o they_o will_v come_v to_o know_v the_o truth_n of_o religion_n they_o must_v first_o reform_v their_o life_n but_o while_o they_o live_v sin_n almost_o a_o whole_a year_n but_o we_o must_v consider_v that_o they_o be_v the_o child_n of_o god_n by_o adoption_n and_o regeneration_n and_o therefore_o howsoever_o god_n leave_v they_o to_o be_v tempt_v yet_o he_o forsake_v they_o not_o whole_o or_o final_o but_o still_o love_v they_o so_o as_o they_o be_v not_o carry_v into_o temptation_n with_o full_a consent_n of_o heart_n but_o god_n true_o justify_v before_o god_n may_v final_o fall_v from_o grace_n and_o be_v condemn_v as_o also_o the_o opinion_n of_o some_o protestant_n who_o though_o they_o will_v not_o say_v that_o the_o child_n of_o god_n may_v final_o fall_v away_o and_o perish_v yet_o they_o hold_v that_o he_o may_v whole_o fall_v grace_n away_o for_o a_o time_n and_o that_o every_o grievous_a sin_n which_o he_o commit_v cut_v he_o off_o total_o till_o he_o do_v repent_v for_o look_v what_o the_o child_n of_o god_n ask_v in_o prayer_n according_a to_o god_n will_v that_o shall_v be_v grant_v he_o but_o in_o this_o petition_n he_o ask_v preservation_n from_o total_a and_o final_a apostasy_n and_o that_o according_a to_o god_n will_v by_o the_o reach_a of_o christ_n himself_o lead_v we_o not_o into_o temptation_n and_o therefore_o it_o shall_v be_v grant_v indeed_o it_o stand_v with_o the_o will_n of_o god_n and_o the_o good_a of_o his_o child_n that_o sometime_o they_o shall_v be_v buffet_v by_o satan_n in_o temptation_n and_o therefore_o we_o pray_v not_o
here_o to_o be_v free_v from_o all_o assault_n but_o that_o we_o be_v not_o whole_o leave_v unto_o ourselves_o nor_o forsake_v of_o god_n but_o so_o preserve_v by_o his_o grace_n that_o we_o be_v necessary_a to_o salvation_n as_o faith_n hope_n and_o charity_n without_o which_o a_o man_n can_v be_v save_v other_o be_v very_o excellent_a and_o profitable_a but_o not_o of_o like_a necessity_n with_o the_o former_a as_o the_o sense_n &_o feeling_n of_o god_n love_n and_o favour_n peace_n of_o conscience_n joy_n in_o the_o holy_a ghost_n alacrity_n in_o prayer_n courage_n and_o boldness_n with_o god_n and_o these_o latter_a may_v be_v lose_v but_o the_o necessary_a grace_n can_v howsoever_o they_o may_v be_v great_o weaken_v for_o so_o it_o be_v with_o david_n by_o his_o fall_n he_o lose_v for_o a_o time_n the_o feel_n of_o god_n favour_n the_o joy_n of_o the_o spirit_n etc._n etc._n but_o faith_n hope_n and_o love_n be_v not_o extinguish_v but_o sore_o weaken_v and_o cover_v as_o fire_n in_o the_o ash_n 2._o use_v want_v to_o be_v bewail_v here_o also_o we_o be_v teach_v to_o mourn_v for_o the_o corruption_n of_o our_o nature_n whereby_o we_o be_v prone_a to_o yield_v up_o ourselves_o to_o every_o temptation_n of_o sin_n and_o satan_n and_o be_v slack_a and_o negligent_a in_o resist_v we_o do_v not_o watch_v and_o pray_v against_o temptation_n diligent_o nor_o shun_v the_o occasion_n of_o sin_n as_o we_o ought_v to_o do_v nay_o we_o offer_v ourselves_o into_o temptation_n and_o minister_v occasion_n unto_o satan_n and_o to_o our_o own_o corruption_n to_o
