synod_n 1640._o signify_v any_o more_o than_o this_o that_o any_o person_n convict_v of_o socinianism_n i._n e._n by_o publish_v his_o opinion_n shall_v upon_o such_o conviction_n be_v excommunicate_v and_o if_o it_o be_v understand_v adequate_a to_o this_o qui_fw-la non_fw-la crediderit_fw-la filium_fw-la esse_fw-la 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d 〈◊〉_d deo_fw-la patri_fw-la anathema_n sit_v and_z that_o the_o church_n of_o england_n for_o allow_v her_o communion_n be_v not_o content_a with_o silence_n in_o respect_n of_o socinianism_n but_o oblige_v man_n also_o to_o assent_v to_o the_o contrary_a then_o i_o see_v not_o upon_o what_o good_a ground_n such_o exclamation_n be_v make_v against_o the_o like_a anathema_n or_o exaction_n of_o assent_n require_v by_o that_o of_o trent_n or_o other_o late_a council_n or_o by_o pius_n his_o bull._n if_o it_o be_v say_v here_o the_o reason_n of_o such_o fault_a they_o be_v because_o these_o require_v assent_v not_o be_v lawful_a general_n council_n such_o reason_n will_v not_o pass_v 1_o because_o neither_o the_o english_a synod_n exact_v assent_n in_o this_o point_n be_v a_o general_n council_n 2_o because_o it_o be_v the_o protestant_a tenant_n that_o neither_o may_v lawful_a general_n council_n require_v assent_v to_o all_o their_o definition_n or_o if_o it_o be_v affirm_v either_o of_o general_n or_o provincial_a council_n that_o they_o may_v require_v assent_n under_o anathema_n to_o some_o of_o their_o decree_n viz._n those_o evident_o true_a and_o divine_a revelation_n such_o as_o consubstantiality_n be_v but_o may_v not_o to_o other_o viz._n those_o not_o manifest_v by_o they_o to_o be_v such_o then_o before_o we_o can_v censure_v any_o council_n for_o its_o anathema_n or_o its_o require_v of_o assent_n we_o must_v know_v whether_o the_o point_n to_o which_o assent_n be_v require_v be_v or_o be_v not_o evident_a divine_a revelation_n and_o then_o by_o who_o or_o how_o shall_v this_o thing_n touch_v the_o evidence_n of_o the_o divine_a revelation_n be_v judge_v or_o decide_v for_o those_o that_o judge_v this_o who_o ever_o they_o be_v do_v sit_v now_o upon_o the_o trial_n of_o the_o rightness_n or_o mistake_v of_o the_o judgement_n of_o a_o general_n council_n or_o when_o think_v we_o will_v those_o who_o judge_v this_o i._o e._n every_o person_n for_o himself_o agree_v in_o their_o sentence_n again_o if_o on_o the_o other_o side_n the_o former_a church_n in_o her_o language_n si_fw-mi quis_fw-la non_fw-la crediderit_fw-la etc._n etc._n anathema_n sit_v be_v affirm_v to_o which_o purpose_n the_o forementioned_a axiom_n be_v urge_v by_o you_o to_o mean_v nothing_o more_o than_o si_fw-mi quis_fw-la haresin_n svam_fw-la palam_fw-la profiteatur_fw-la &_o huius_fw-la professionis_fw-la convictis_fw-la fuerit_fw-la anathema_n sit_v thus_o the_o protestant_n former_a quarrel_n with_o she_o pass_v such_o anathema_n will_v be_v conclude_v causeless_a and_o unjust_a but_o indeed_o though_o according_a to_o the_o former_a sentence_n her_o anathema_n be_v not_o extend_v to_o the_o internal_a act_n of_o hold_v such_o a_o opinion_n if_o whole_o conceal_v so_o far_o as_o to_o render_v such_o person_n for_o it_o to_o stand_v excommunicate_v and_o lie_v actual_o under_o this_o censure_n of_o the_o church_n because_o hitherto_o no_o contempt_n of_o her_o authority_n appear_v nor_o be_v any_o damage_n infer_v to_o any_o other_o member_n of_o her_o society_n thereby_o yet_o her_o anathema_n also_o extend_v even_o to_o the_o internal_a act_n or_o tenet_n after_o the_o church_n contrary_a definition_n know_v which_o tenet_n also_o then_o be_v not_o hold_v without_o a_o disobedience_n and_o contempt_n of_o her_o authority_n so_o far_o as_o to_o render_v the_o delinquent_n therein_o guilty_a of_o a_o very_a great_a mortal_a sin_n and_o so_o at_o the_o same_o time_n internal_o cut_v off_o from_o be_v a_o true_a member_n of_o christ_n body_n though_o external_o he_o be_v not_o as_o yet_o so_o cut_v off_o and_o the_o casuist_n further_a state_n he_o ipso_fw-la facto_fw-la to_o be_v excommunicate_v before_o and_o without_o conviction_n if_o external_o he_o do_v or_o speak_v any_o thng_n whereby_o he_o be_v convincible_a and_o not_o if_o there_o be_v any_o thing_n prove_v against_o he_o but_o if_o any_o thing_n at_o least_o provable_a and_o such_o a_o one_o upon_o this_o to_o be_v oblige_v in_o conscience_n not_o only_o to_o confess_v his_o heretical_a opinion_n
