thought_n likewise_o the_o very_a lust_n of_o the_o heart_n paul_n complain_v of_o this_o 7._o rom._n 7._o and_o peter_n bid_v simon_n magus_n to_o repent_v and_o pray_v 8._o act_n 8._o if_o perhaps_o the_o thought_n of_o his_o heart_n may_v be_v pardon_v i_o doubt_v not_o but_o the_o child_n of_o god_n be_v careful_a over_o their_o very_a thought_n for_o a_o wicked_a carnal_a man_n may_v abstain_v man_n use_v 3_o conscience_n be_v this_o book_n and_o every_o man_n sin_n be_v pen_v down_o therein_o we_o may_v see_v the_o woeful_a misery_n of_o all_o those_o that_o have_v defile_v conscience_n filthy_a and_o unclean_a heart_n for_o look_v how_o their_o conscience_n do_v accuse_v they_o even_o so_o will_v god_n condemn_v and_o have_v not_o repent_v of_o their_o sin_n they_o carry_v a_o tormentor_n within_o they_o namely_o a_o guilty_a and_o a_o accuse_a conscience_n which_o be_v their_o judge_n to_o condemn_v they_o and_o their_o hell_n to_o torment_v they_o use_v 4_o four_o see_v sin_n we_o must_v acknowledge_v and_o confess_v they_o beg_v for_o pardon_n of_o they_o and_o to_o hunger_n and_o thirst_n after_o christ_n jesus_n for_o there_o be_v nothing_o that_o can_v purify_v the_o conscience_n and_o quiet_a the_o heart_n but_o only_o the_o blood_n of_o jesus_n christ_n apply_v to_o our_o soul_n by_o faith_n with_o persuasion_n of_o the_o forgiveness_n of_o they_o mark_v conscience_n and_o now_o in_o the_o last_o place_n we_o be_v to_o come_v to_o the_o execution_n of_o judgement_n upon_o the_o wicked_a reprobate_n and_o ungodly_a in_o these_o two_o last_o verse_n for_o when_o judgement_n be_v pronounce_v according_a to_o their_o work_n when_o christ_n jesus_n shall_v say_v unto_o they_o depart_v from_o i_o etc._n etc._n then_o immediate_o the_o execution_n of_o this_o sentence_n shall_v follow_v for_o so_o say_v saint_n john_n here_o and_o death_n and_o â—ell_o be_v cast_v into_o the_o lake_n of_o fire_n â—hat_n be_v the_o second_o death_n first_o here_o we_o be_v to_o seek_v the_o â—rue_a meaning_n of_o the_o text_n because_o there_o be_v never_o a_o word_n that_o â—s_v plain_a but_o may_v move_v a_o quetion_n for_o first_o what_o be_v death_n that_o he_o â—hould_v be_v cast_v into_o hell_n be_v death_n any_o creature_n be_v death_n subject_a to_o pain_n and_o torment_v sure_o no._n death_n be_v no_o body_n â—t_z have_v no_o sense_n nor_o and_o hell_n that_o be_v all_o the_o reprobate_n that_o shall_v be_v cast_v into_o hell_n fire_n and_o there_o die_v for_o evermore_o thus_o than_o you_o see_v what_o be_v here_o mean_v by_o death_n and_o hell_n namely_o the_o heir_n of_o death_n and_o firebrand_n of_o hell_n all_o reprobate_n all_o impenitent_a sinner_n that_o live_v and_o die_v in_o their_o sin_n all_o those_o shall_v be_v cast_v into_o the_o lake_n of_o fire_n see_v the_o holy-ghost_n give_v these_o title_n and_o name_n to_o all_o wicked_a and_o ungodly_a sinner_n even_o death_n and_o hell_n sure_o this_o show_v the_o wonderful_a misery_n and_o the_o curse_a estate_n of_o those_o that_o live_v and_o die_v in_o their_o sin_n without_o repentance_n alas_o it_o be_v so_o woeful_a and_o damnable_a that_o they_o be_v even_o call_v death_n and_o hell_n itself_o oh_o then_o let_v all_o sinner_n that_o live_v and_o delight_n in_o sin_n use_v take_v heed_n unto_o themselves_o you_o do_v see_v the_o woeful_a misery_n of_o all_o impenitent_a sinner_n namely_o that_o they_o be_v no_o better_a than_o the_o vessel_n of_o wrath_n the_o heir_n of_o eternal_a death_n and_o firebrand_n of_o hell_n for_o evermore_o o_o that_o all_o sinner_n can_v forethink_v of_o this_o woeful_a misery_n that_o hang_v over_o their_o head_n what_o a_o strange_a kind_n of_o speech_n be_v this_o and_o of_o what_o force_n when_o god_n call_v such_o reprobate_n even_o death_n &_o hell_n itself_o ah_o poor_a wretch_n ah_o miserable_a and_o woeful_a creature_n which_o be_v but_o death_n and_o hell_n itself_o oh_o will_v that_o the_o drunkard_n etc._n etc._n can_v lay_v this_o to_o heart_n that_o howsoever_o they_o see_v not_o their_o misery_n nor_o the_o woeful_a estate_n wherein_o they_o live_v but_o bless_v themselves_o in_o their_o sinful_a way_n yet_o they_o be_v no_o better_o than_o the_o heir_n of_o vengeance_n and_o wrath_n of_o god_n nay_o indeed_o very_a death_n and_o hell_n itself_o true_a it_o be_v that_o many_o wicked_a man_n do_v as_o the_o people_n do_v in_o esay_n his_o time_n 28.11_o esay_n 28.11_o though_o they_o live_v in_o horrible_a sin_n yet_o they_o make_v a_o league_n with_o death_n and_o be_v at_o a_o agreement_n with_o the_o grave_n they_o have_v take_v a_o lease_n of_o death_n and_o hell_n to_o live_v in_o sin_n by_o licence_n without_o punishment_n but_o the_o lord_n tell_v they_o he_o will_v break_v their_o covenant_n and_o disannul_v their_o agreement_n and_o although_o they_o have_v live_v a_o long_a time_n in_o sin_n yet_o in_o the_o end_n death_n will_v knock_v at_o their_o door_n and_o he_o will_v lay_v hold_n upon_o they_o and_o they_o must_v pay_v full_a dear_a for_o their_o long_a lease_n even_o the_o loss_n of_o body_n and_o soul_n for_o ever_o and_o be_v not_o this_o the_o practice_n of_o most_o man_n and_o woman_n do_v they_o not_o even_o make_v a_o covenant_n with_o death_n and_o do_v they_o not_o labour_v to_o be_v at_o agreement_n with_o hell_n man_n live_v in_o swear_v lie_a drunkenness_n etc._n etc._n and_o yet_o they_o think_v they_o shall_v never_o die_v they_o think_v they_o shall_v escape_v for_o all_o their_o sin_n but_o poor_a soul_n let_v they_o well_o know_v that_o death_n and_o hell_n will_v seize_v upon_o they_o nay_o if_o they_o live_v and_o die_v in_o their_o sin_n without_o repentance_n let_v they_o know_v that_o they_o be_v not_o better_o than_o death_n and_o hell_n itself_o and_o they_o must_v be_v cast_v into_o the_o lake_n of_o fire_n true_a it_o be_v you_o shall_v see_v many_o a_o notorious_a sinner_n contemner_n the_o three_o thing_n wherein_o this_o second_o death_n do_v consist_v be_v that_o all_o reprobate_n shall_v be_v punish_v with_o everlasting_a perdition_n they_o shall_v be_v torment_v in_o body_n and_o soul_n with_o unspeakable_a torment_n the_o wrath_n and_o vengeance_n of_o god_n shall_v seize_v upon_o they_o and_o feed_v on_o they_o as_o fire_n do_v on_o pitch_n or_o brimstone_n where_o of_o this_o second_o death_n our_o saviour_n compare_v it_o unto_o a_o furnace_n of_o fire_n 13.24_o mat._n 13.24_o now_o what_o a_o woeful_a torment_n be_v it_o to_o be_v cast_v into_o a_o furnace_n of_o fire_n and_o to_o lie_v many_o thousand_o year_n therein_o this_o be_v a_o torment_n that_o can_v be_v express_v again_o he_o say_v that_o their_o worm_n sh_n will_v not_o die_v 66.24_o esay_n 66.24_o and_o their_o fire_n shall_v not_o be_v quench_v now_o how_o shall_v a_o man_n do_v if_o he_o shall_v have_v a_o worm_n always_o crawl_v in_o his_o belly_n gnaw_v always_o at_o his_o heart_n this_o be_v the_o estate_n of_o all_o wicked_a man_n and_o woman_n they_o shall_v always_o have_v a_o worm_n even_o grief_n and_o anguish_n of_o heart_n ever_o gnaw_v at_o their_o heart_n and_o bite_v at_o their_o conscience_n and_o this_o worm_n shall_v never_o die_v nor_o kill_v they_o but_o ever_o gnaw_v and_o wound_v they_o so_o than_o you_o see_v by_o this_o which_o have_v be_v speak_v what_o this_o second_o death_n be_v and_o also_o wherein_o it_o do_v consist_v now_o all_o the_o question_n will_v be_v who_o shall_v be_v cast_v into_o this_o lake_n of_o fire_n who_o be_v they_o that_o shall_v die_v this_o second_o death_n death_n who_o they_o be_v that_o shall_v partake_v of_o the_o second_o death_n which_o be_v such_o a_o miserable_a and_o woeful_a death_n for_o there_o be_v no_o this_o lake_n of_o fire_n which_o be_v the_o second_o death_n then_o what_o a_o strange_a thing_n be_v this_o the_o holy-ghost_n tell_v we_o who_o shall_v be_v damn_v and_o cast_v into_o the_o lake_n of_o fire_n all_o impenitent_a sinner_n the_o blasphemer_n the_o drunkard_n etc._n etc._n and_o yet_o no_o man_n almost_o will_v believe_v this_o well_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n can_v lie_v he_o say_v that_o all_o the_o wicked_a and_o ungodlie_a sinner_n shall_v be_v cast_v into_o the_o lake_n of_o fire_n which_o be_v the_o second_o death_n now_o tell_v never_o so_o wicked_a a_o wretch_n of_o his_o sin_n of_o his_o swear_n etc._n etc._n and_o what_o will_v they_o say_v tush_o god_n be_v merciful_a i_o hope_v i_o shall_v be_v save_v be_v not_o this_o i_o pray_v to_o give_v the_o holy-ghost_n the_o lie_n tell_v the_o drunkard_n or_o the_o profaner_n of_o the_o lord_n day_n etc._n etc._n they_o shall_v be_v damn_v do_v they_o believe_v this_o oh_o no_o no_o for_o if_o they_o do_v believe_v it_o how_o dare_v they_o be_v so_o bold_a to_o live_v in_o sin_n well_o howsoever_o these_o vile_a wretch_n say_v they_o hope_v to_o be_v save_v aswell_o as_o the_o best_a of_o they_o all_o yet_o know_v this_o be_v the_o truth_n of_o god_n the_o holy-ghost_n tell_v we_o plain_o that_o all_o unbeliever_n and_o thief_n and_o murderer_n etc._n etc._n shall_v be_v cast_v into_o the_o lake_n of_o fire_n and_o brimstone_n which_o be_v the_o second_o death_n but_o to_o you_o who_o heart_n do_v tremble_v for_o fear_n of_o these_o thing_n who_o soul_n do_v melt_v for_o fear_n of_o this_o second_o death_n now_o if_o you_o will_v know_v how_o to_o escape_v this_o lake_n of_o fire_n and_o how_o to_o avoid_v this_o second_o death_n which_o be_v the_o eternal_a damnation_n and_o torment_n both_o of_o body_n and_o soul_n you_o shall_v see_v how_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n do_v not_o only_o show_v you_o how_o to_o escape_v hell_n but_o to_o come_v to_o heaven_n not_o only_o to_o avoid_v damnation_n in_o this_o lake_n of_o fire_n but_o to_o obtain_v salvation_n and_o joy_n in_o the_o bless_a and_o glorious_a presence_n of_o almighty_a god_n for_o evermore_o now_o see_v what_o the_o holy-ghost_n do_v teach_v thou_o in_o the_o six_o verse_n of_o this_o chapter_n bless_a and_o holy_a be_v he_o that_o have_v his_o part_n in_o the_o first_o resurrection_n for_o on_o such_o the_o second_o death_n shall_v have_v no_o power_n but_o they_o shall_v be_v the_o priest_n of_o god_n and_o of_o christ_n and_o shall_v reign_v with_o he_o a_o thousand_o year_n that_o be_v for_o evermore_o so_o then_o will_v you_o know_v what_o manner_n of_o man_n and_o woman_n shall_v escape_v the_o second_o death_n and_o eternal_a damnation_n in_o this_o lake_n of_o hell_n fire_n why_o the_o holy-ghost_n say_v they_o and_o none_o but_o they_o that_o have_v their_o part_n in_o the_o first_o resurrection_n so_o than_o it_o be_v manifest_a in_o these_o word_n that_o there_o be_v two_o resurrection_n and_o also_o a_o double_a death_n the_o child_n of_o god_n they_o have_v a_o double_a resurrection_n and_o one_o death_n but_o all_o wicked_a and_o ungodly_a sinner_n they_o have_v one_o resurrection_n and_o a_o double_a death_n so_o then_o let_v we_o see_v what_o be_v mean_v by_o this_o first_o resurrection_n namely_o our_o rise_n out_o of_o the_o grave_n of_o sin_n to_o newness_n of_o life_n this_o be_v the_o first_o resurrection_n 2.1_o ephes_n 2.1_o you_o that_o be_v dead_a in_o trespass_n and_o sin_n have_v he_o quicken_v 6.4_o rom._n 6.4_o and_o we_o be_v bury_v with_o christ_n in_o baptism_n that_o like_a as_o he_o rise_v again_o to_o the_o glory_n of_o the_o father_n even_o so_o we_o shall_v walk_v in_o newness_n of_o life_n so_o then_o will_v you_o know_v whether_o you_o shall_v escape_v eternal_a fire_n in_o hell_n even_o this_o second_o death_n then_o look_v unto_o your_o own_o soul_n be_v you_o dead_a to_o all_o your_o old_a sin_n and_o new_a sin_n be_v you_o quicken_v in_o the_o inner_a man_n do_v you_o hate_v sin_n as_o well_o when_o it_o be_v commit_v by_o yourself_o as_o by_o other_o do_v you_o labour_v to_o mortify_v and_o to_o keep_v under_o the_o work_n of_o the_o flesh_n and_o walk_v in_o all_o holy_a duty_n and_o obedience_n both_o unto_o god_n and_o man_n 8.1_o rom._n 8.1_o for_o there_o be_v no_o condemnation_n to_o they_o that_o be_v in_o christ_n which_o walk_v not_o after_o the_o flesh_n but_o after_o the_o spirit_n bless_a and_o holy_a be_v they_o that_o have_v part_n in_o the_o first_o resurrection_n where_o he_o show_v that_o none_o shall_v be_v bless_v none_o shall_v have_v part_n in_o the_o first_o resurrection_n and_o be_v free_v from_o the_o second_o death_n but_o such_o as_o be_v sanctify_v to_o live_v a_o godly_a life_n that_o be_v partaker_n of_o the_o first_o resurrection_n and_o therefore_o if_o you_o desire_v to_o be_v bless_v &_o to_o escape_v the_o second_o death_n which_o be_v the_o everlasting_a damnation_n both_o of_o body_n and_o soul_n then_o labour_v here_o to_o live_v a_o godly_a life_n for_o these_o two_o justification_n and_o sanctification_n can_v be_v sever_v and_o this_o be_v a_o very_a great_a comfort_n to_o all_o the_o true_a member_n of_o christ_n use_v that_o do_v repent_v and_o leave_v their_o sin_n and_o live_v a_o godly_a life_n though_o they_o be_v in_o misery_n in_o poverty_n in_o want_n and_o in_o the_o end_n die_v the_o first_o death_n of_o the_o body_n yet_o they_o shall_v be_v free_v from_o the_o second_o death_n that_o be_v from_o eternal_a death_n the_o gate_n of_o hell_n shall_v not_o prevail_v against_o they_o and_o therefore_o as_o you_o love_v your_o soul_n as_o you_o desire_v to_o be_v bless_v and_o to_o escape_v eternal_a damnation_n which_o be_v the_o second_o death_n labour_v i_o say_v to_o have_v a_o part_n in_o the_o first_o resurrection_n to_o die_v unto_o sin_n and_o to_o live_v in_o newness_n of_o life_n but_o
as_o for_o wicked_a and_o ungodly_a sinner_n that_o live_v in_o sin_n delight_n in_o sin_n that_o have_v no_o part_n in_o the_o first_o resurrection_n their_o case_n be_v woeful_a they_o be_v subject_a to_o the_o second_o that_o be_v eternal_a death_n and_o damnation_n for_o if_o you_o live_v after_o the_o flesh_n 6.8_o rom._n 6.8_o you_o shall_v die_v and_o therefore_o deceive_v not_o yourselves_o as_o many_o do_v which_o think_v if_o they_o come_v to_o church_n hear_v the_o word_n receive_v the_o sacrament_n all_o be_v well_o they_o hope_v god_n will_v be_v merciful_a to_o they_o lake_n of_o fire_n and_o brimstone_n which_o be_v the_o second_o death_n and_o therefore_o let_v no_o man_n deceive_v himself_o and_o sooth_n himself_o because_o he_o hear_v the_o word_n profess_v the_o gospel_n receive_v the_o sacrament_n that_o therefore_o he_o be_v well_o enough_o no_o no_o though_o thou_o hear_v never_o so_o much_o if_o thou_o live_v in_o sin_n in_o swear_v drunkenness_n etc._n etc._n thy_o estate_n be_v as_o woeful_a as_o before_o because_o thou_o be_v not_o free_v from_o the_o second_o death_n and_o mark_v this_o difference_n the_o child_n of_o god_n have_v two_o resurrection_n and_o one_o death_n they_o rise_v from_o sin_n in_o this_o life_n to_o newness_n and_o holiness_n of_o life_n and_o they_o rise_v at_o the_o last_o day_n to_o eternal_a life_n in_o heaven_n and_o therefore_o true_o bless_v but_o alas_o graceless_a and_o godless_a sinner_n that_o have_v two_o death_n and_o but_o one_o resurrection_n they_o die_v in_o sin_n here_o they_o be_v dead_a in_o sin_n and_o delight_n in_o sin_n here_o and_o so_o they_o die_v the_o first_o death_n of_o the_o body_n and_o eternal_a death_n the_o second_o death_n of_o body_n and_o soul_n in_o hell_n and_o as_o they_o never_o have_v part_n in_o the_o first_o resurrection_n so_o the_o second_o resurrection_n be_v only_o to_o judgement_n to_o death_n and_o to_o damnation_n and_o therefore_o if_o you_o will_v live_v when_o you_o be_v dead_a you_o must_v die_v to_o sin_n while_o you_o be_v alive_a only_o the_o penitent_a sinner_n shall_v live_v for_o ever_o in_o eternal_a life_n only_o those_o which_o die_v to_o sin_n shall_v escape_v the_o second_o death_n but_o the_o impenitent_a sinner_n that_o live_v and_o delight_n in_o sin_n here_o he_o shall_v die_v for_o his_o sin_n eternal_o nay_o he_o shall_v never_o taste_v of_o the_o life_n to_o come_v but_o as_o he_o will_v not_o labour_v to_o have_v his_o part_n in_o the_o first_o resurrection_n so_o he_o shall_v be_v sure_a to_o have_v his_o portion_n in_o the_o second_o death_n which_o be_v so_o fearful_a a_o thing_n that_o it_o may_v make_v even_o flinty_a heart_n to_o break_v in_o piece_n to_o lie_v in_o fire_n burn_v for_o we_o speak_v the_o last_o time_n now_o in_o this_o verse_n we_o may_v observe_v the_o different_a estate_n of_o the_o child_n of_o god_n and_o of_o the_o wicked_a for_o as_o there_o be_v but_o two_o sort_n of_o man_n good_a and_o bad_a elect_a and_o reprobate_n penitent_a and_o impenitent_a the_o child_n of_o god_n and_o the_o limb_n of_o satan_n so_o there_o be_v but_o two_o place_n heaven_n and_o hell_n joy_n and_o pain_n the_o right_a hand_n and_o the_o left_a and_o the_o reward_n shall_v be_v according_a either_o bless_a or_o curse_v for_o so_o saint_n john_n say_v here_o the_o elect_n shall_v have_v eternal_a life_n but_o they_o that_o be_v reprobate_n shall_v be_v cast_v into_o the_o lake_n of_o fire_n first_o concern_v the_o elect_n and_o those_o that_o be_v choose_v in_o jesus_n christ_n and_o who_o name_n be_v write_v in_o heaven_n as_o their_o life_n do_v differ_v from_o the_o wicked_a and_o ungodly_a so_o their_o estate_n after_o this_o life_n be_v far_o different_a for_o they_o shall_v be_v bless_v for_o ever_o and_o if_o you_o do_v ask_v what_o be_v this_o blessedness_n that_o all_o the_o elect_n shall_v have_v i_o answer_v with_o paul_n 29._o 1._o cor._n 29._o the_o whole_a heaven_n and_o make_v they_o that_o they_o dare_v not_o abide_v the_o glorious_a presence_n of_o god_n their_o creator_n o_o shall_v we_o not_o abhor_v sin_n as_o the_o vile_a thing_n in_o the_o world_n we_o be_v afraid_a of_o the_o plague_n because_o it_o infect_v and_o kill_v man_n body_n but_o the_o plague_n of_o sin_n be_v a_o thousand_o time_n and_o more_o to_o be_v abhor_v and_o flee_v from_o see_v it_o poison_n and_o infect_v both_o body_n and_o soul_n &_o be_v so_o contagious_a that_o the_o creature_n be_v afraid_a to_o behold_v the_o face_n of_o the_o son_n of_o god_n see_v both_o heaven_n and_o use_v 2_o earth_n shall_v fly_v and_o perish_v from_o before_o the_o glorious_a presence_n of_o christ_n jesus_n nay_o they_o shall_v burn_v with_o fire_n as_o peter_n say_v 2._o pet._n 3.10.11_o all_o these_o goodly_a house_n all_o thy_o gold_n and_o silver_n and_o costly_a apparel_n shall_v be_v burn_v with_o fire_n this_o may_v teach_v we_o moderation_n and_o sobriety_n in_o the_o use_n of_o god_n creature_n what_o folly_n be_v it_o to_o spend_v all_o that_o a_o man_n have_v to_o build_v a_o stately_a house_n and_o yet_o in_o the_o end_n it_o must_v be_v consume_v with_o fire_n and_o become_v nothing_o else_o but_o fuel_o for_o the_o fire_n that_o see_v the_o heaven_n and_o use_v 3_o the_o earth_n these_o great_a and_o mighty_a creature_n these_o beautiful_a and_o excellent_a work_n of_o almighty_a god_n power_n which_o have_v no_o sense_n nor_o feeling_n nor_o never_o sin_v if_o these_o shall_v fly_v before_o the_o son_n of_o god_n as_o be_v not_o able_a to_o endure_v his_o presence_n alas_o what_o shall_v wicked_a and_o hard-hearted_a sinner_n do_v what_o shall_v become_v of_o the_o vile_a wretch_n of_o the_o world_n which_o live_v and_o delight_n in_o sin_n where_o shall_v the_o ungodlie_a and_o sinner_n appear_v what_o will_v become_v of_o all_o ignorant_a soul_n what_o will_v become_v of_o the_o blasphemer_n and_o adulterer_n if_o the_o heaven_n and_o the_o earth_n these_o great_a and_o glorious_a creature_n which_o sin_v not_o shall_v not_o be_v able_a to_o stand_v in_o his_o presence_n then_o what_o i_o say_v will_v become_v of_o all_o profane_a and_o ungodly_a sinner_n alas_o they_o shall_v be_v even_o at_o their_o wit_n end_n not_o know_v in_o the_o world_n which_o way_n to_o turn_v they_o nor_o where_o to_o fly_v for_o succour_n where_o shall_v they_o seek_v for_o refuge_n when_o as_o the_o judge_n himself_o be_v their_o enemy_n who_o dare_v plead_v for_o they_o darenot_v any_o saint_n or_o angel_n no_o no_o no_o saint_n or_o angel_n dare_v open_v their_o mouth_n to_o speak_v one_o word_n in_o their_o behalf_n neither_o can_v any_o creature_n deliver_v they_o from_o the_o dreadful_a vengeance_n of_o this_o see_v the_o dead_a both_o great_a and_o small_a for_o we_o believe_v that_o christ_n jesus_n shall_v judge_v both_o quick_a and_o dead_a not_o only_o the_o dead_a but_o the_o live_n and_o paul_n
say_v 15._o 1._o cor._n 15._o we_o shall_v not_o all_o die_v but_o we_o shall_v be_v change_v they_o that_o be_v live_v at_o his_o come_n then_o how_o do_v this_o place_n agree_v with_o they_o see_v s._n john_n say_v here_o he_o see_v the_o dead_a here_o be_v none_o speak_v of_o but_o the_o dead_a no_o mention_n of_o the_o live_n i_o answer_v saint_n john_n say_v answ_n that_o he_o see_v the_o dead_a not_o that_o he_o see_v not_o the_o live_n too_o for_o he_o see_v no_o doubt_n both_o quick_a and_o dead_a stand_v before_o god_n but_o he_o speak_v here_o only_o of_o those_o of_o who_o there_o may_v be_v some_o doubt_n for_o if_o the_o dead_a and_o they_o which_o have_v be_v rot_v so_o many_o thousand_o year_n shall_v appear_v and_o stand_v before_o god_n how_o can_v we_o think_v that_o any_o of_o the_o live_a shall_v be_v want_v if_o that_o they_o which_o have_v be_v dead_a for_o six_o thousand_o year_n and_o be_v turn_v to_o ash_n shall_v be_v bring_v to_o judgement_n then_o not_o doubt_n they_o which_o be_v find_v live_v when_o christ_n shall_v come_v to_o judgement_n so_o then_o it_o be_v evident_a that_o though_o saint_n john_n speak_v here_o only_o of_o the_o dead_a because_o there_o may_v be_v most_o doubt_n of_o they_o yet_o he_o say_v in_o a_o vision_n all_o man_n both_o quick_a and_o dead_a stand_v before_o almighty_a god_n at_o the_o bar_n of_o jesus_n christ_n again_o doct._n comfort_n to_o the_o godly_a that_o they_o shall_v rise_v again_o i_o see_v the_o dead_a hence_o may_v we_o raise_v a_o double_a doctrine_n first_o a_o notable_a comfort_n for_o the_o soul_n of_o god_n child_n namely_o that_o the_o dead_a body_n of_o god_n child_n do_v not_o perish_v they_o be_v not_o cast_v away_o and_o lose_v when_o they_o die_v but_o they_o shall_v rise_v again_o they_o shall_v be_v purify_v and_o make_v a_o glorious_a body_n and_o they_o shall_v stand_v in_o the_o presence_n of_o the_o lord_n jesus_n christ_n and_o shall_v see_v his_o glory_n and_o therefore_o let_v we_o not_o think_v that_o when_o death_n come_v and_o separate_v the_o soul_n from_o the_o body_n that_o then_o the_o body_n do_v perish_v and_o be_v cast_v away_o no_o no_o it_o shall_v rise_v again_o it_o be_v but_o lay_v in_o the_o grave_n as_o in_o a_o sure_a chest_n and_o there_o it_o be_v at_o ease_n and_o lie_v asleep_a as_o in_o a_o bed_n of_o dowlne_a but_o when_o christ_n jesus_n shall_v come_v to_o judgement_n it_o shall_v rise_v again_o for_o we_o must_v know_v that_o every_o true_a believer_n be_v make_v a_o member_n of_o christ_n and_o not_o only_o our_o soul_n be_v unite_v to_o christ_n but_o even_o our_o dead_a body_n when_o they_o be_v lay_v in_o the_o grave_n they_o still_o remain_v the_o dear_a member_n of_o his_o mystical_a body_n and_o therefore_o shall_v not_o perish_v but_o rise_v again_o to_o glory_n and_o for_o our_o further_a confirmation_n in_o this_o point_n of_o resurrection_n prove_v resurrection_n prove_v let_v we_o see_v how_o it_o be_v confirm_v to_o we_o by_o the_o testimony_n of_o the_o holy_a scripture_n as_o that_o of_o daniel_n 12.13_o dan._n 12.13_o they_o that_o sleep_v in_o the_o dust_n shall_v awake_a some_o to_o everlasting_a life_n and_o some_o to_o everlasting_a shame_n and_o the_o lord_n god_n by_o the_o prophet_n hoseas_n do_v make_v unto_o his_o church_n this_o gracious_a promise_n hosea_n 13.14_o god_n to_o appear_v at_o the_o bar_n of_o the_o everliving_a and_o most_o mighty_a jehova_n who_o can_v cast_v both_o body_n and_o soul_n into_o hell_n fire_n o_o what_o secure_a and_o careless_a not_o and_o mourn_v not_o overmuch_o for_o they_o shall_v rise_v again_o i_o will_v not_o have_v you_o ignorant_a brethren_n concern_v those_o that_o be_v asleep_a that_o you_o shall_v mourn_v at_o they_o that_o have_v no_o hope_n 1._o thess_n 4.13_o where_o the_o holy-ghost_n tell_v we_o that_o the_o dead_a in_o christ_n do_v not_o die_v proper_o but_o lay_v they_o down_o to_o take_v a_o sweet_a sleep_n after_o their_o long_a and_o tedious_a labour_n and_o troubl_n in_o this_o world_n and_o afterward_o they_o must_v rise_v again_o to_o life_n to_o happiness_n to_o liberty_n to_o glory_n and_o salvation_n and_o wherefore_o then_o shall_v we_o mourn_v so_o excessive_o &_o weep_v and_o lament_v at_o the_o death_n of_o our_o friend_n see_v they_o do_v not_o perish_v they_o be_v not_o cast_v away_o o_o no_o their_o soul_n be_v present_o in_o joy_n and_o their_o body_n be_v bury_v in_o the_o grave_n as_o in_o a_o bed_n of_o dowlne_a to_o take_v a_o sweet_a sleep_n till_o the_o day_n of_o judgement_n and_o then_o they_o shall_v rise_v to_o glory_n and_o they_o be_v judge_v every_o man_n according_a to_o their_o work_n mark_v i_o pray_v you_o how_o the_o holy_a ghost_n repeat_v this_o point_n again_o and_o again_o he_o beat_v upon_o it_o he_o can_v never_o have_v do_v with_o it_o he_o say_v before_o the_o book_n be_v open_v and_o the_o dead_a be_v judge_v according_a to_o those_o thing_n write_v in_o the_o book_n and_o now_o again_o he_o say_v they_o be_v judge_v every_o man_n according_a to_o his_o work_n what_o shall_v be_v the_o cause_n why_o the_o holy-ghost_n so_o often_o repeat_v this_o point_n and_o beat_v so_o upon_o it_o again_o and_o again_o i_o answer_v the_o cause_n be_v in_o we_o because_o we_o be_v hardly_o bring_v to_o believe_v this_o point_n hardly_o persuade_v of_o so_o necessary_a a_o matter_n for_o hardly_o one_o man_n of_o a_o thousand_o believe_v this_o that_o he_o shall_v be_v judge_v according_a to_o his_o work_n oh_o it_o be_v a_o hard_a matter_n to_o persuade_v man_n and_o woman_n of_o this_o that_o they_o must_v give_v a_o account_n of_o their_o work_n and_o be_v judge_v by_o their_o work_n tell_v the_o wicked_a sinner_n of_o his_o ungodly_a way_n of_o his_o profaneness_n contempt_n of_o god_n word_n etc._n etc._n and_o what_o do_v they_o say_v do_v they_o quake_v and_o tremble_v do_v their_o heart_n and_o soul_n even_o earn_v in_o they_o o_o no_o no_o they_o flatter_v themselves_o with_o this_o conceit_n god_n be_v merciful_a and_o thus_o they_o make_v the_o mercy_n of_o god_n a_o packhorse_n for_o all_o their_o abomination_n and_o thus_o it_o be_v in_o the_o vile_a heart_n of_o man_n to_o think_v he_o shall_v never_o come_v to_o account_v for_o his_o sin_n that_o he_o shall_v never_o be_v call_v to_o a_o reckon_n for_o they_o and_o receive_v his_o reward_n according_a to_o his_o work_n here_o than_o we_o may_v perceive_v there_o be_v but_o two_o sort_n of_o man_n and_o woman_n there_o be_v the_o repentant_a sinner_n and_o the_o impenitent_a sinner_n and_o both_o of_o they_o must_v come_v to_o judgement_n the_o repentant_a sinner_n be_v he_o or_o she_o that_o mourn_v for_o their_o sin_n bewail_v they_o hate_v they_o and_o leave_v they_o and_o do_v hunger_n and_o thirst_n after_o good_a thing_n now_o the_o impenitent_a sinner_n be_v he_o or_o she_o that_o live_v in_o sin_n and_o will_v not_o in_o any_o wise_a be_v bring_v to_o leave_v sin_n they_o never_o with_o tear_n beg_v the_o pardon_n of_o they_o at_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n but_o wallow_v in_o all_o uncleanness_n heap_v sin_n upon_o sin_n and_o one_o ungodly_a way_n upon_o another_o whereas_o all_o the_o sin_n of_o god_n child_n who_o do_v repent_v be_v quit_v and_o pardon_v in_o christ_n jesus_n he_o have_v nail_v they_o to_o his_o cross_n and_o have_v wash_v they_o away_o in_o his_o own_o blood_n and_o they_o shall_v never_o come_v to_o light_v but_o their_o faith_n their_o religion_n their_o good_a deed_n as_o their_o feed_n and_o clothing_n of_o christ_n jesus_n in_o his_o poor_a member_n matth._n 25._o and_o according_a to_o these_o they_o shall_v receive_v their_o reward_n life_n happiness_n and_o eternal_a salvation_n and_o as_o their_o good_a deed_n be_v many_o and_o great_a so_o shall_v their_o honour_n praise_n and_o glory_n be_v great_a in_o heaven_n and_o therefore_o we_o shall_v labour_v to_o abound_v in_o good_a work_n in_o faith_n knowledge_n repentance_n love_n zeal_n etc._n etc._n see_v our_o reward_n shall_v be_v according_a to_o our_o work_n but_o as_o for_o the_o unrepentant_a sinner_n that_o live_v in_o sin_n delight_n in_o sin_n as_o they_o do_v not_o repent_v nor_o have_v no_o faith_n nor_o good_a work_n even_o so_o as_o their_o work_n shall_v be_v so_o
