good_a action_n of_o prayer_n but_o as_o he_o be_v in_o christ_n for_o who_o merit_n sake_n the_o promise_n be_v accomplish_v and_o therefore_o christ_n here_o speak_v to_o they_o who_o he_o take_v for_o grant_v to_o be_v the_o true_a member_n of_o his_o mystical_a body_n which_o be_v his_o church_n this_o rule_n must_v be_v remember_v for_o the_o right_a understanding_n of_o the_o promise_n of_o god_n concern_v prayer_n for_o hereby_o it_o be_v plain_a that_o our_o prayer_n be_v not_o the_o cause_n of_o the_o blessing_n we_o receive_v from_o god_n but_o only_o a_o way_n and_o instrument_n in_o and_o by_o which_o god_n convay_v his_o blessing_n unto_o his_o child_n for_o a_o true_a prayer_n be_v a_o fruit_n of_o our_o faith_n in_o christ_n in_o who_o alone_o all_o the_o prayer_n and_o to_o stir_v we_o up_o to_o fervent_a zeal_n and_o diligence_n in_o this_o duty_n both_o in_o public_a and_o private_a and_o to_o move_v we_o to_o godly_a zeal_n and_o diligence_n in_o this_o duty_n consider_v the_o reason_n follow_v i._o christ_n own_o example_n which_o in_o moral_a duty_n be_v a_o perfect_a rule_n now_o though_o he_o have_v little_a need_n to_o pray_v in_o respect_n of_o himself_o for_o he_o do_v never_o sin_n yet_o how_o often_o and_o how_o long_o and_o with_o what_o fervency_n do_v he_o give_v himself_o to_o this_o duty_n he_o spend_v whole_a night_n in_o prayer_n luk._n 6._o 12._o and_o in_o prayer_n in_o the_o garden_n he_o sweat_v water_n and_o blood_n we_o have_v also_o moses_n example_n who_o spend_v forty_o day_n and_o forty_o night_n in_o prayer_n and_o fast_v for_o the_o people_n when_o they_o have_v sin_v deuter._n 9_o 18._o 19_o if_o he_o be_v thus_o fervent_a in_o prayer_n for_o their_o sin_n how_o earnest_n will_v he_o be_v for_o enjoy_v it_o long_o and_o therefore_o must_v look_v for_o day_n of_o trial_n for_o the_o state_n of_o god_n church_n be_v interchangeable_a ii_o reason_n all_o of_o we_o must_v come_v to_o deal_v with_o god_n both_o in_o the_o day_n of_o death_n and_o at_o the_o day_n of_o judgement_n at_o both_o which_o time_n all_o worldly_a help_n and_o comfort_n will_v forsake_v we_o and_o by_o no_o mean_n shall_v find_v the_o lord_n to_o be_v strange_a unto_o we_o and_o to_o profess_v that_o he_o know_v we_o not_o which_o will_v be_v woe_n unto_o us._n iii_o reason_n every_o good_a thing_n we_o have_v or_o stand_v in_o need_n of_o come_v from_o the_o mercy_n and_o bounty_n of_o god_n in_o christ_n and_o prayer_n be_v a_o
