pardon_v and_o those_o sinner_n save_v and_o who_o now_o can_v be_v hopeless_a who_o now_o can_v cast_v off_o comfort_n now_o therefore_o stay_v and_o look_v upon_o those_o effect_n &_o proof_n of_o god_n mercy_n and_o truth_n and_o say_v unto_o thyself_o be_v not_o god_n the_o same_o god_n that_o of_o old_a be_v not_o his_o justice_n and_o anger_n against_o sin_n as_o great_a then_o as_o now_o and_o be_v not_o his_o mercy_n and_o truth_n as_o large_a and_o sure_a now_o as_o then_o and_o why_o then_o shall_v not_o i_o also_o take_v heart_n to_o seek_v unto_o the_o same_o god_n and_o rest_n upon_o he_o and_o these_o be_v the_o most_o comfortable_a meditation_n that_o i_o can_v propound_v to_o the_o sorrowful_a and_o fearful_a heart_n of_o the_o break_a sinner_n for_o the_o supply_a of_o his_o wound_n and_o fit_v his_o soul_n for_o consolation_n chap._n vi_o §_o 1._o now_o these_o meditation_n must_v be_v conclude_v and_o intermix_v with_o confession_n and_o supplication_n the_o poor_a sinner_n must_v gather_v up_o his_o thought_n into_o petition_n and_o request_n and_o refuse_v to_o be_v hinder_v by_o any_o fear_n doubt_n or_o objection_n must_v take_v to_o himself_o boldness_n to_o fall_v down_o before_o the_o throne_n of_o grace_n and_o follow_v the_o counsel_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n must_v take_v to_o himself_o word_n and_o say_v receive_v i_o gracious_o and_o take_v away_o all_o iniquity_n address_v thyself_o unto_o the_o god_n of_o heaven_n in_o the_o name_n of_o christ_n his_o son_n and_o say_v lord_n behold_v here_o the_o worst_a of_o sinner_n appear_v before_o thou_o cast_v himself_o as_o low_a as_o hell_n desirous_a to_o be_v as_o full_a of_o shame_n and_o sorrow_n as_o be_v possible_a and_o therefore_o trouble_v because_o he_o can_v be_v chirurgeon_n be_v sure_a thou_o have_v not_o commit_v any_o so_o grievous_a sin_n but_o some_o or_o other_o of_o god_n child_n have_v commit_v as_o bad_a be_v sure_a that_o no_o temptation_n cease_v upon_o thou_o so_o foul_a and_o hideous_a but_o the_o same_o or_o as_o bad_a have_v be_v find_v before_o in_o some_o or_o other_o of_o the_o saint_n i_o say_v therefore_o again_o make_v haste_n to_o seek_v advice_n and_o discover_v thy_o whole_a soul_n free_o and_o full_o to_o he_o who_o thou_o take_v for_o thy_o physician_n and_o leave_v nothing_o no_o nothing_o unuttered_a that_o do_v trouble_v thou_o and_o resolve_v to_o believe_v rather_o the_o word_n of_o he_o that_o seek_v to_o comfort_v thou_o than_o thy_o own_o strong_a fancy_n and_o satan_n lie_n cavil_v against_o thou_o it_o be_v evident_a that_o a_o sound_a man_n can_v easy_o do_v that_o for_o a_o sick_a man_n which_o he_o by_o no_o mean_n be_v able_a to_o do_v for_o himself_o in_o the_o time_n of_o his_o sickness_n therefore_o do_v the_o sick_a send_v for_o the_o whole_a and_o the_o whole_a come_v to_o the_o sick_a and_o even_o so_o must_v the_o sick_a and_o comfortless_a soul_n do_v likewise_o only_o do_v this_o speedy_o and_o put_v not_o off_o till_o thou_o be_v already_o overwhelm_v with_o grief_n as_o a_o bone_n out_o of_o joint_n that_o be_v too_o long_o afore_o it_o be_v set_v be_v far_o more_o hardly_o restore_v to_o his_o place_n and_o be_v ever_o ready_a to_o be_v drip_v out_o again_o so_o a_o distress_a soul_n that_o defer_v to_o crave_v counsel_n be_v much_o more_o hardly_o comfort_v and_o do_v much_o more_o easy_o fall_v again_o into_o his_o wont_a grief_n speed_z be_v necessary_a therefore_o in_o the_o latter_a of_o these_o two_o case_n as_o well_o as_o the_o former_a and_o great_a be_v the_o hurt_n of_o defer_v if_o thou_o have_v carry_v thy_o grief_n in_o silence_n long_o that_o that_o be_v pass_v can_v be_v remedy_v and_o thou_o must_v be_v sure_a it_o will_v be_v hard_a and_o long_o afore_o thou_o can_v be_v help_v but_o if_o thou_o be_v one_o that_o now_o begin_v to_o faint_v let_v nor_o satan_n hinder_v thou_o from_o reveal_v thy_o case_n as_o he_o will_v ashamed_a to_o tell_v to_o other_o what_o he_o find_v in_o himself_o as_o not_o know_v that_o all_o man_n labour_v of_o the_o same_o disease_n of_o original_a sin_n which_o be_v a_o aptness_n to_o every_o sin_n if_o a_o man_n have_v a_o foul_a disease_n and_o be_v ashamed_a to_o show_v it_o either_o he_o must_v be_v the_o better_o skill_v in_o surgery_n himself_o or_o else_o he_o die_v for_o it_o so_o it_o be_v for_o sin_n make_v speed_n therefore_o to_o look_v abroad_o for_o comfort_n if_o thou_o find_v not_o thyself_o ablt_v to_o deal_v with_o thy_o own_o fear_n and_o objection_n §_o 3._o do_v this_o also_o plain_o and_o full_o without_o any_o reservation_n stick_v not_o at_o any_o thing_n that_o trouble_v thou_o but_o clear_v thy_o mind_n full_o and_o whole_o and_o be_v not_o like_o a_o child_n that_o hold_v out_o the_o wrong_a finger_n and_o will_v not_o be_v know_v where_o his_o worst_a pain_n be_v if_o need_n be_v thou_o may_v tie_v thy_o physician_n to_o secrecy_n by_o the_o strong_a bond_n of_o a_o oath_n but_o be_v not_o thou_o in_o any_o one_o thing_n secret_a or_o reserve_v chief_o conceal_v not_o that_o sin_n sin_n or_o temptation_n that_o do_v most_o perplex_v thou_o or_o any_o one_o aggravate_v circuemstance_n of_o they_o all_o labour_n be_v lose_v till_o this_o be_v do_v till_o the_o thorn_n be_v pull_v out_o
that_o cause_v swell_v the_o swell_a will_v not_o be_v assuage_v the_o answer_v of_o all_o other_o objection_n will_v avail_v nothing_o for_o thy_o comfort_n unless_o this_o be_v answer_v let_v nothing_o make_v thou_o hold_v back_o any_o of_o thy_o grief_n more_o than_o stay_v too_o long_o before_o thou_o begin_v to_o crave_v help_n fear_v not_o squeame_n not_o to_o lay_v open_a the_o worst_a of_o thy_o sore_n let_v the_o very_a issue_n and_o leprosy_n be_v see_v that_o shall_v be_v heal_v a_o man_n shall_v but_o bungle_v in_o the_o cure_n that_o be_v not_o thorough_o inform_v of_o the_o sickness_n and_o as_o sick_a man_n do_v so_o do_v thou_o they_o believe_v their_o tender_n rather_o then_o their_o own_o eye_n or_o conceit_n for_o sick_a man_n be_v exceed_o apt_a to_o mistake_v thing_n out_o of_o their_o bodily_a distemper_n and_o so_o be_v also_o trouble_v and_o distemper_a heart_n god_n word_n alone_o can_v be_v the_o ground_n of_o comfort_n man_n may_v and_o must_v be_v the_o instrument_n of_o comfort_n that_o by_o believe_a man_n we_o may_v be_v help_v to_o believe_v in_o god_n as_o a_o man_n must_v hope_v above_o hope_n so_o he_o must_v believe_v above_o belief_n he_o must_v captivate_v his_o reason_n to_o his_o comforter_n that_o seele_v to_o a_o comforter_n and_o say_v what_o he_o conclude_v for_o i_o out_o of_o god_n word_n i_o will_v credit_v though_o i_o can_v feel_v it_o to_o be_v so_o and_o will_v rely_v more_o on_o his_o judgement_n then_o my_o own_o and_o why_o shall_v not_o a_o wise_a and_o godly_a minister_n be_v rather_o credit_v than_o a_o lie_a and_o malicious_a spirit_n and_o a_o distract_a and_o disquiet_v heart_n the_o sick_a man_n pallate_n deem_v sweet_a thing_n to_o be_v sour_a his_o dimned_a eye_n can_v see_v no_o light_n at_o noontide_n find_v this_o he_o credit_n those_o about_o he_o that_o have_v better_o dispose_v sense_n and_o judge_n of_o thing_n not_o as_o himself_o think_v but_o as_o other_o tell_v in_o this_o virtuous_a credulousnesse_n must_v be_v the_o sick_a soul_n first_o beginning_n of_o comfort_n and_o he_o that_o will_v thus_o betake_v himself_o to_o counsel_n shall_v find_v that_o in_o the_o multitude_n of_o counselor_n there_o will_v be_v peace_n §_o 4._o and_o so_o much_o also_o for_o the_o three_o mean_n of_o comfort_n i_o will_v conclude_v with_o the_o four_o and_o last_o namely_o the_o right_a information_n of_o our_o judgement_n that_o we_o may_v be_v able_a to_o answer_v such_o objection_n as_o be_v bring_v against_o the_o remission_n of_o our_o sin_n and_o whereby_o the_o devil_n and_o the_o flesh_n will_v have_v we_o conclude_v but_o the_o conclusion_n be_v false_a that_o our_o sin_n neither_o be_v nor_o shall_v be_v pardon_v the_o chief_a of_o these_o i_o will_v set_v down_o in_o order_n with_o their_o answer_n so_o well_o as_o i_o be_o able_a but_o before_o i_o speak_v of_o they_o i_o will_v show_v you_o what_o be_v the_o only_a true_a argument_n to_o prove_v that_o a_o man_n sin_n be_v not_o nor_o while_o he_o so_o continue_v can_v be_v pardon_v first_o the_o not_o feel_v of_o sin_n to_o be_v a_o burden_n second_o the_o not_o confess_v of_o sin_n plain_o to_o god_n and_o in_o case_n needful_a to_o man_n also_o three_o the_o not_o resolve_v to_o leave_v it_o four_o the_o not_o seek_v for_o pardon_n in_o christ_n and_o in_o he_o alone_o so_o earnest_o as_o i_o shall_v nor_o mend_v they_o so_o well_o as_o i_o shall_v i_o answer_v that_o be_v very_o true_a but_o where_o have_v the_o lord_n say_v that_o he_o which_o have_v not_o perform_v these_o duty_n so_o well_o as_o he_o shall_v have_v not_o true_a repentance_n this_o be_v no_o where_o find_v in_o scripture_n it_o be_v one_o of_o thy_o false_a conceit_n and_o a_o very_a false_a conceit_n it_o be_v tand_v to_o confound_v the_o law_n and_o the_o gospel_n for_o the_o law_n require_v to_o do_v all_o thing_n perfect_o and_o reject_v all_o work_n which_o a_o man_n do_v not_o perform_v so_o well_o as_o he_o shall_v but_o the_o gospel_n be_v a_o doctrine_n of_o grace_n and_z accepts_z endeavour_n to_o perform_v duty_n though_o one_o fall_v far_o short_a of_o that_o measure_n of_o duty_n which_o he_o ought_v to_o attain_v do_v not_o thou_o strive_v and_o endeavour_v to_o do_v these_o thing_n more_o and_o better_a and_o blame_v thyself_o for_o defect_n and_o thou_o have_v not_o attain_v to_o the_o example_n of_o one_o of_o these_o yet_o have_v thou_o follow_v the_o other_o and_o again_o i_o answer_v that_o god_n do_v not_o reject_v the_o sorrow_n of_o his_o people_n because_o they_o be_v not_o so_o great_a as_o those_o which_o other_o attain_v it_o be_v not_o where_o say_v in_o scripture_n that_o he_o repent_v not_o which_o grieve_v not_o as_o much_o as_o other_o do_v or_o have_v do_v and_o for_o the_o point_n of_o grieve_v for_o sin_n understand_v that_o not_o the_o quantity_n be_v so_o much_o to_o be_v respect_v as_o the_o quality_n if_o a_o man_n grieve_v never_o so_o much_o and_o his_o grief_n carry_v he_o not_o to_o confess_v and_o seek_v pardon_n and_o grace_n and_o help_v and_o diligent_o to_o endeavour_v amendment_n they_o be_v nothing_o worth_a and_o if_o they_o do_v bring_v forth_o these_o effect_n they_o be_v accept_v though_o they_o be_v not_o very_o great_a §_o 2._o yea_o but_o say_v the_o heart_n yet_o again_o i_o yea_o be_v it_o not_o thy_o continual_a prayer_n to_o be_v keep_v against_o it_o &_o do_v not_o thou_o find_v that_o these_o endeavour_n keep_v thou_o so_o that_o thou_o offend_v not_o by_o many_o degree_n so_o much_o &_o often_o as_o before_o thou_o do_v &_o as_o else_o thou_o shall_v do_v i_o answer_v then_o that_o where_o sin_n have_v
terror_n drive_v thou_o from_o god_n or_o to_o god_n if_o from_o god_n let_v they_o do_v so_o no_o more_o and_o thou_o shall_v have_v comfort_n if_o to_o god_n do_v so_o still_o and_o that_o will_v prove_v thy_o state_n good_a §_o 3._o and_o so_o be_v those_o objection_n answer_v that_o arise_v from_o feeling_n now_o the_o last_o sort_n spring_n from_o satan_n temptation_n o_o i_o be_o lade_v
