god_n be_v to_o receive_v from_o he_o through_o the_o operation_n of_o his_o grace_n and_o spirit_n the_o beginning_n and_o principle_n of_o our_o spiritual_a life_n and_o motion_n viz._n a_o considerate_a universal_a prevail_a resolution_n to_o obey_v god_n proceed_v from_o our_o belief_n of_o the_o christian_a religion_n when_o therefore_o god_n by_o the_o influence_n of_o his_o grace_n and_o spirit_n have_v wrought_v our_o mind_n into_o such_o a_o resolution_n then_o be_v we_o true_o bear_v of_o he_o as_o have_v herein_o receive_v from_o he_o the_o principle_n of_o a_o new_a life_n and_o motion_n and_o this_o the_o apostle_n express_v by_o be_v transform_v by_o the_o renew_n of_o our_o mind_n rom._n 12._o 2._o i_o e._n have_v a_o new_a practical_a judgement_n and_o resolution_n expression_n he_o can_v relate_v to_o the_o state_n he_o be_v now_o in_o he_o can_v as_o he_o be_v one_o that_o be_v bear_v of_o god_n and_o while_o he_o do_v continue_v so_o for_o so_o the_o phrase_n hence_o the_o reason_n assign_v why_o a_o man_n can_v sin_v wilful_o and_o be_v bear_v of_o god_n at_o the_o same_o time_n be_v for_o his_o seed_n remain_v in_o he_o that_o be_v because_o that_o principle_n of_o new_a life_n and_o motion_n which_o the_o divine_a spirit_n have_v produce_v in_o he_o and_o which_o be_v nothing_o else_o but_o a_o universal_a prevail_a resolution_n of_o obey_v god_n remain_v within_o his_o breast_n and_o for_o a_o man_n to_o be_v universal_o and_o prevalent_o resolve_v to_o obey_v god_n and_o at_o the_o same_o time_n to_o sin_n wilful_o be_v a_o contradiction_n in_o term_n because_o whenever_o he_o sin_v wilful_o he_o be_v prevalent_o resolve_v to_o disobey_v he_o and_o therefore_o see_v in_o every_o wilful_a sin_n we_o be_v prevalent_o resolve_v to_o disobey_v god_n while_o we_o be_v so_o our_o resolution_n to_o obey_v he_o which_o be_v the_o seed_n and_o principle_n of_o our_o divine_a life_n must_v necessary_o be_v extinguish_v and_o consequent_o till_o such_o time_n as_o by_o our_o repentance_n we_o have_v revive_v and_o recover_v it_o we_o must_v cease_v to_o be_v bear_v of_o god_n he_o therefore_o who_o be_v bear_v of_o god_n can_v sin_v wilful_o because_o while_o he_o continue_v in_o this_o state_n his_o seed_n remain_v in_o he_o which_o be_v no_o more_o reconcilable_a to_o our_o sin_v wilful_o than_o contrary_n condemn_v we_o for_o all_o wilful_a sin_n whatsoever_o whether_o they_o be_v single_a act_n or_o habit_n and_o every_o single_a wilful_a act_n be_v as_o much_o a_o transgression_n of_o the_o law_n which_o threaten_v condemnation_n as_o any_o wilful_a habit_n whatsoever_o the_o law_n which_o forbid_v wilful_a lie_v under_o the_o penalty_n of_o eternal_a death_n do_v as_o well_o forbid_v the_o want_v of_o a_o new_a occasion_n or_o by_o just_a sentence_n of_o law_n such_o as_o rape_n and_o theft_n and_o murder_n and_o other_o which_o can_v never_o pass_v beyond_o a_o single_a act_n such_o as_o parricide_n and_o self-murder_n and_o so_o can_v never_o grow_v into_o a_o habit_n and_o yet_o i_o think_v there_o be_v no_o man_n can_v doubt_v but_o that_o even_o the_o single_a act_n of_o these_o sin_n suppose_v they_o wilful_a do_v put_v a_o man_n into_o a_o state_n of_o condemnation_n i_o know_v it_o be_v usual_o say_v that_o such_o horrible_a sin_n as_o these_o indeed_o do_v so_o because_o the_o mischief_n of_o they_o be_v so_o great_a and_o the_o malice_n so_o heinous_a that_o it_o render_v they_o equivalent_a to_o a_o habit_n of_o any_o other_o sin_n to_o which_o i_o answer_v the_o law_n of_o christ_n condemn_v these_o sin_n not_o as_o they_o be_v great_a than_o other_o but_o as_o they_o be_v transgression_n for_o which_o it_o threaten_v condemnation_n indeed_o the_o greatness_n of_o the_o sin_n do_v increase_v the_o condemnation_n but_o yet_o the_o law_n which_o condemn_v we_o for_o a_o lesser_a sin_n do_v as_o certain_o condemn_v we_o as_o that_o which_o condemn_v we_o for_o a_o great_a as_o for_o instance_n the_o law_n of_o christ_n as_o well_o condemn_v we_o for_o drunkenness_n adultery_n lie_v and_o malice_n as_o for_o murder_n and_o as_o every_o wilful_a act_n of_o unjust_a kill_v be_v murder_n so_o every_o wilful_a act_n of_o adultery_n and_o malice_n be_v adultery_n and_o malice_n and_o therefore_o the_o law_n of_o christ_n condemn_v to_o far_o great_a pain_n for_o the_o one_o than_o for_o the_o other_o yet_o still_o it_o condemn_v we_o for_o both_o for_o that_o law_n which_o forbid_v any_o wilful_a sin_n indifferent_o under_o the_o penalty_n of_o condemnation_n forbid_v every_o act_n of_o it_o under_o the_o same_o penalty_n because_o every_o act_n of_o it_o be_v the_o sin_n so_o forbid_v and_o therefore_o we_o may_v as_o well_o say_v that_o the_o law_n of_o christ_n do_v not_o condemn_v we_o for_o parricide_n and_o self-murder_n because_o these_o be_v only_o single_a act_n of_o murder_n as_o that_o it_o do_v not_o condemn_v we_o for_o any_o other_o single_a act_n of_o any_o other_o wilful_a sin_n for_o every_o single_a act_n of_o wilful_a intemperance_n and_o incontinency_n be_v as_o true_o sin_v against_o the_o law_n which_o forbid_v they_o under_o the_o penalty_n of_o eternal_a condemnation_n as_o those_o single_a act_n of_o murder_n be_v against_o the_o law_n which_o forbid_v murder_n under_o the_o same_o penalty_n and_o consequent_o do_v as_o well_o put_v we_o into_o a_o state_n of_o condemnation_n and_o to_o be_v sure_a while_o we_o be_v in_o this_o state_n we_o can_v pretend_v to_o be_v bear_v of_o contract_v they_o by_o his_o own_o wilful_a act_n and_o by_o his_o repeat_v practice_n of_o they_o do_v still_o cherish_v and_o indulge_v they_o whereas_o the_o former_a have_v no_o more_o hand_n in_o contract_v they_o than_o he_o have_v in_o the_o mould_v of_o of_o his_o own_o constitution_n and_o be_v so_o far_o from_o cherish_v they_o by_o any_o wilful_a act_n of_o his_o own_o that_o it_o be_v the_o main_a endeavour_n of_o his_o life_n to_o oppose_v and_o vanquish_v they_o and_o so_o on_o the_o other_o hand_n a_o man_n that_o by_o frequent_a wilful_a act_n of_o sin_n have_v contract_v wilful_a habit_n may_v afterward_o hearty_o repent_v and_o take_v up_o a_o prevail_a resolution_n of_o amendment_n and_o yet_o still_o the_o evil_a habit_n the_o promptness_n or_o propensity_n to_o his_o sin_n may_v be_v more_o or_o less_o remain_v in_o he_o but_o this_o be_v now_o so_o far_o from_o be_v wilful_a that_o the_o prevail_a bent_n and_o current_n of_o his_o will_n be_v against_o it_o and_o though_o still_o his_o evil_a inclination_n be_v ready_a to_o take_v fire_n upon_o every_o spark_n of_o temptation_n that_o fall_v upon_o they_o and_o to_o blaze_v out_o into_o evil_a action_n be_v call_v the_o root_n of_o bitterness_n the_o evil_a heart_n the_o concupiscence_n wrought_v by_o sin_n the_o law_n in_o the_o member_n which_o those_o who_o be_v carnal_a and_o sell_v under_o sin_n do_v obey_v the_o carnal_a mind_n the_o flesh_n in_o which_o dwell_v no_o good_a and_o enmity_n to_o god_n by_o all_o which_o they_o be_v sufficient_o pronounce_v inconsistent_a with_o our_o necessary_a and_o what_o be_v necessary_a be_v no_o fault_n nor_o can_v be_v just_o liable_a to_o reward_n or_o punishment_n those_o evil_a action_n therefore_o which_o for_o distinction_n sake_n be_v call_v sin_n of_o infirmity_n be_v no_o far_o sin_n than_o as_o they_o be_v choose_v and_o have_v some_o intermixture_n of_o will_n in_o they_o for_o if_o they_o have_v none_o they_o have_v only_o
