of_o all_o sin_n but_o the_o seed_n for_o all_o man_n practise_v not_o all_o sin_n the_o seed_n be_v in_o their_o nature_n but_o the_o practice_n be_v restrain_v sometime_o by_o education_n sometime_o by_o good_a and_o wholesome_a law_n sometime_o the_o constitution_n of_o man_n body_n deny_v the_o practice_n of_o some_o sin_n sometime_o the_o country_n a_o man_n dwell_v in_o or_o call_v a_o man_n live_v in_o keep_v he_o from_o the_o practice_n of_o some_o sin_n and_o always_o a_o general_a and_o limit_v grace_n of_o god_n restrain_v the_o nature_n of_o all_o man_n from_o run_v into_o many_o sin_n which_o hand_n of_o god_n if_o god_n shall_v take_v away_o and_o leave_v every_o man_n to_o his_o nature_n we_o shall_v see_v that_o every_o man_n will_v practice_v any_o sin_n in_o the_o abolish_v afore_o man_n come_v to_o heaven_n and_o yet_o though_o all_o this_o be_v true_a i_o say_v not_o that_o sin_n break_v out_o in_o all_o nature_n alike_o though_o all_o nature_n be_v alike_o corrupt_a for_o the_o course_n of_o nature_n be_v restrain_v in_o some_o more_o than_o other_o by_o the_o mean_v aforesaid_a but_o this_o be_v the_o truth_n that_o whereas_o some_o be_v not_o so_o angry_a some_o not_o so_o wanton_a some_o not_o so_o cruel_a some_o not_o so_o covetous_a some_o not_o so_o ambitious_a etc._n etc._n as_o other_o that_o come_v not_o from_o any_o goodness_n of_o nature_n in_o they_o above_o the_o other_o originallie_o but_o from_o god_n hand_n which_o temper_v restrain_v and_o moderate_v every_o man_n nature_n as_o he_o see_v good_a and_o if_o god_n do_v not_o thus_o moderate_a &_o restrain_v the_o nature_n of_o man_n but_o suffer_v they_o to_o break_v out_o to_o the_o full_a there_o will_v then_o be_v no_o order_n but_o all_o confusion_n in_o the_o world_n therefore_o as_o especial_o for_o his_o church_n quietness_n so_o also_o for_o the_o preservation_n of_o public_a peace_n and_o the_o uphold_v of_o society_n in_o the_o world_n between_o man_n and_o man_n the_o lord_n hold_v a_o hand_n over_o every_o man_n nature_n and_o keep_v every_o one_o in_o a_o certain_a compass_n limit_v by_o the_o wisdom_n of_o his_o power_n which_o restrain_v hand_n of_o he_o if_o the_o lord_n shall_v take_v away_o all_o society_n and_o commonwealth_n will_v be_v turn_v up-side_n down_o because_o every_o man_n by_o the_o universal_a corruption_n of_o his_o us._n let_v we_o therefore_o hearken_v to_o this_o counsel_n of_o the_o holy_a ghost_n let_v we_o take_v the_o fan_n of_o the_o law_n and_o there_o with_o search_n and_o winnow_v our_o heart_n and_o soul_n who_o be_v make_v overseer_n &_o searcher_n of_o his_o heart_n find_v nothing_o in_o it_o to_o present_v to_o the_o lord_n for_o it_o be_v no_o more_o easy_a to_o espy_v outward_a and_o of_o it_o for_o the_o papist_n do_v not_o think_v we_o protestant_n great_a enemy_n to_o their_o superstition_n than_o the_o inward_a corruption_n of_o our_o heart_n be_v to_o our_o salvation_n devilish_a policy_n 38._o senacharibs_n horrible_a blasphemy_n judas_n monstrous_a treason_n julians_n fearful_a apostasy_n when_o we_o hear_v of_o the_o fearful_a murder_n treason_n perjury_n sin_n against_o nature_n blasphemy_n apostasy_n witchcraft_n craft_n and_o other_o the_o horrible_a sin_n of_o the_o world_n let_v we_o then_o return_v into_o ourselves_o and_o look_v homewards_o even_o into_o our_o own_o heart_n and_o confess_v every_o one_o that_o these_o shall_v have_v be_v even_o thy_o sin_n also_o if_o god_n grace_n have_v not_o prevent_v thou_o this_o will_v humble_v thou_o and_o make_v thou_o think_v vile_o and_o base_o of_o thyself_o and_o so_o consequent_o bring_v thou_o to_o repentance_n and_o true_a amendment_n and_o the_o very_a reason_n why_o man_n repent_v not_o nor_o amend_v their_o way_n be_v because_o they_o be_v pharisy_n by_o nature_n and_o think_v high_o of_o themselves_o and_o of_o their_o own_o nature_n and_o their_o natural_a inclination_n this_o will_v be_v a_o harsh_a &_o a_o strange_a doctrine_n to_o they_o oh_o they_o have_v excellent_a narure_n and_o they_o can_v endure_v such_o &_o such_o sin_n and_o they_o thank_v god_n they_o be_v not_o as_o ill_o as_o other_o but_o let_v all_o such_o man_n know_v they_o must_v cease_v magnify_v nature_n &_o learn_v to_o magnify_v god_n grace_n let_v they_o know_v that_o nature_n in_o they_o be_v in_o the_o root_n as_o much_o corrupt_a as_o in_o the_o worst_a man_n in_o the_o world_n and_o every_o man_n heart_n be_v a_o bottomless_a fountain_n of_o all_o sin_n therefore_o praise_v not_o which_o else_o the_o best_a nature_n in_o the_o world_n can_v never_o attain_v unto_o the_o three_o rule_n to_o be_v know_v and_o practise_v of_o he_o who_o will_v true_o search_v himself_o be_v that_o every_o man_n bear_v of_o adam_n be_v by_o nature_n the_o child_n of_o wrath_n and_o god_n enemy_n this_o be_v true_a of_o all_o without_o exception_n high_a or_o low_o rich_a or_o poor_a noble_a or_o simple_a bear_v in_o the_o visible_a church_n or_o without_o and_o further_o by_o be_v enemy_n of_o god_n he_o be_v therefore_o bear_v subject_a to_o hell_n to_o damnation_n and_o to_o all_o other_o curse_n so_o that_o look_v as_o a_o traitor_n convict_v stand_v thereby_o in_o his_o prince_n high_a displeasure_n and_o be_v sure_a of_o death_n without_o special_a pardon_n so_o stand_v every_o man_n when_o he_o be_v bear_v convict_v of_o high_a treason_n against_o god_n in_o his_o high_a disfavour_v and_o be_v in_o danger_n of_o hell_n which_o be_v the_o fulfil_n of_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n thus_o david_n confess_v of_o himself_o i_o be_v bear_v in_o iniquity_n and_o in_o sin_n have_v my_o mother_n conceive_v i_o if_o in_o sin_n then_o in_o god_n wrath_n and_o under_o the_o danger_n of_o damnation_n if_o any_o ask_v how_o or_o why_o this_o be_v so_o i_o answer_v the_o truth_n as_o also_o the_o equity_n of_o this_o three_o rule_n depend_v on_o the_o two_o former_a think_v not_o so_o and_o it_o be_v the_o cause_n why_o man_n repent_v not_o of_o their_o sin_n for_o most_o man_n think_v that_o by_o nature_n they_o be_v in_o god_n favour_n and_o therefore_o they_o be_v the_o second_o death_n the_o death_n of_o soul_n and_o body_n which_o be_v the_o eternal_a want_n of_o god_n presence_n and_o the_o accomplishment_n of_o his_o wrath_n and_o a_o apprehension_n and_o feel_n of_o that_o wrath_n seize_v on_o body_n soul_n and_o conscience_n the_o first_o curse_n be_v a_o spiritual_a death_n the_o death_n of_o the_o soul_n the_o second_o a_o temporal_a death_n the_o death_n of_o the_o body_n the_o three_o be_v a_o eternal_a death_n a_o death_n both_o of_o soul_n and_o body_n together_o and_o for_o ever_o this_o eternal_a death_n be_v the_o curse_n of_o all_o curse_n the_o misery_n of_o all_o misery_n and_o torment_v of_o all_o torment_n and_o i_o show_v it_o thus_o often_o when_o thy_o tooth_n ach_v and_o sometime_o when_o thy_o headacheth_n or_o in_o the_o pain_n of_o the_o stone_n or_o colic_n thou_o will_v give_v all_o that_o thou_o have_v in_o the_o world_n to_o be_v ease_v of_o that_o pain_n nay_o in_o the_o extremity_n of_o some_o fit_n many_o will_v wish_v themselves_o even_o out_o of_o the_o world_n now_o if_o the_o pain_n of_o one_o tooth_n can_v so_o far_o distemper_v mind_n and_o body_n that_o it_o can_v be_v relieve_v with_o all_o the_o pleasure_n of_o this_o life_n oh_o then_o what_o a_o torment_n shall_v that_o be_v when_o not_o one_o kind_a of_o pain_n but_o the_o whole_a viol_n of_o god_n wrath_n shall_v be_v pour_v not_o on_o one_o member_n but_o on_o the_o whole_a soul_n body_n and_o conscience_n and_o that_o not_o for_o a_o time_n under_o hope_n of_o better_a but_o eternal_o without_o hope_n of_o release_n and_o that_o not_o in_o this_o world_n where_o there_o be_v comfort_n help_n and_o remedy_n but_o in_o that_o ugly_a and_o darksome_a place_n of_o torrment_n and_o that_o not_o among_o live_a man_n which_o may_v mitigate_v thy_o pain_n or_o else_o bemoan_v thou_o and_o bewail_v it_o with_o thou_o but_o with_o the_o devil_n &_o damn_a spirit_n which_o will_v now_o laugh_v at_o thy_o destruction_n and_o solace_v themselves_o in_o this_o thy_o misery_n and_o will_v rejoice_v as_o thou_o do_v serve_v they_o in_o earth_n so_o now_o in_o hell_n to_o be_v thy_o torment_n it_o may_v be_v therefore_o by_o the_o way_n a_o good_a warning_n and_o wisdom_n to_o we_o all_o when_o we_o feel_v the_o extremity_n of_o some_o bodily_a pain_n to_o consider_v with_o ourselves_o and_o say_v oh_o then_o what_o shall_v be_v my_o misery_n and_o torment_n if_o i_o repent_v not_o when_o not_o one_o member_n but_o soul_n body_n and_o conscience_n shall_v be_v rack_v and_o torment_v in_o the_o feel_n and_o do_v answer_v to_o the_o three_o degree_n of_o sin_n which_o be_v in_o we_o for_o as_o the_o two_o first_o rule_n teach_v we_o there_o be_v in_o every_o man_n by_o nature_n till_o he_o repent_v a_o threefold_a guiltiness_n first_o a_o guiltiness_n of_o adam_n sin_n second_o the_o taint_n of_o original_n &_o universal_a corruption_n three_o a_o pollution_n by_o many_o outrageous_a actual_a sin_n in_o the_o first_o of_o these_o every_o man_n be_v equal_o guilty_a in_o the_o second_o every_o man_n be_v equal_o corrupt_a but_o in_o the_o three_o every_o one_o keep_v that_o compass_n within_o which_o the_o lord_n will_v keep_v they_o by_o his_o limit_v power_n now_o as_o in_o our_o guiltiness_n of_o adam_n sin_n sin_n have_v his_o beginning_n in_o original_a sin_n his_o continuance_n in_o actual_a sin_n his_o perfect_a on_o so_o answerable_a hereunto_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n which_o always_o stand_v opposite_a to_o sin_n be_v begin_v in_o leave_v we_o by_o nature_n to_o the_o slavery_n of_o satan_n be_v continue_v by_o death_n and_o be_v accomplish_v in_o damnation_n and_o now_o these_o three_o rule_n i_o commend_v to_o the_o careful_a and_o christian_a consideration_n of_o you_o all_o certify_v you_o from_o god_n that_o as_o you_o can_v never_o be_v save_v unless_o you_o repent_v nor_o repent_v unless_o you_o search_v yourselves_o as_o here_o the_o prophet_n bid_v so_o that_o you_o can_v never_o search_v yourselves_o aright_o till_o you_o be_v persuade_v and_o resolve_v of_o these_o three_o rule_n &_o of_o the_o truth_n of_o they_o all_o even_o in_o your_o heart_n and_o conscience_n namely_o first_o that_o thou_o be_v guilty_a of_o adam_n sin_n second_o that_o thou_o be_v prone_a by_o nature_n to_o all_o evil_a in_o the_o world_n three_o that_o for_o these_o thou_o be_v subject_a to_o the_o wrath_n of_o god_n and_o to_o all_o the_o curse_n of_o his_o wrath_n but_o when_o thou_o be_v in_o heart_n &_o conscience_n resolve_v that_o these_o be_v true_a then_o thou_o be_v a_o fit_a scholar_n for_o this_o lesson_n of_o the_o prophet_n search_v thyself_o for_o when_o thou_o go_v thus_o prepare_v unto_o this_o search_n and_o esteem_v of_o thyself_o as_o the_o three_o rule_n have_v describe_v thou_o then_o if_o thou_o search_v into_o thyself_o thou_o will_v find_v thyself_o and_o thy_o estate_n to_o be_v such_o as_o will_v cause_v thou_o to_o repent_v return_n and_o take_v a_o new_a course_n therefore_o what_o the_o prophet_n say_v to_o those_o jew_n i_o say_v unto_o you_o also_o my_o brethren_n of_o this_o realm_n of_o england_n who_o be_v now_o here_o gather_v together_o out_o of_o so_o many_o country_n and_o quarter_n of_o this_o realm_n yea_o in_o the_o name_n of_o the_o same_o god_n i_o cry_v unto_o you_o search_v o_o search_v yourselves_o and_o think_v it_o not_o a_o matter_n indifferent_a to_o do_v or_o not_o to_o do_v it_o but_o know_v it_o that_o god_n command_v you_o as_o ever_o you_o will_v come_v to_o salvation_n search_v yourselves_o and_o the_o rather_o because_o by_o these_o three_o rule_n you_o see_v how_o much_o chaff_n of_o corruption_n be_v in_o your_o nature_n and_o what_o need_n therefore_o it_o have_v to_o be_v search_v into_o and_o fan_v by_o repentance_n be_v well_o assure_v thou_o man_n whatsoever_o thou_o be_v there_o be_v so_o much_o chaff_n in_o thou_o that_o if_o thou_o search_v not_o and_o fan_v it_o not_o out_o thou_o will_v prove_v nothing_o but_o chaff_n at_o the_o last_o day_n and_o so_o be_v blow_v away_o with_o the_o wind_n of_o god_n justice_n into_o hell_n take_v hold_v therefore_o of_o this_o exhortation_n and_o defer_v it_o not_o thou_o will_v not_o suffer_v thy_o wheat_n to_o lie_v too_o long_o in_o the_o chaff_n for_o fear_n of_o hurt_v it_o be_v it_o then_o safe_a to_o suffer_v the_o chaff_n of_o thy_o sin_n and_o corruption_n to_o lie_v canker_a and_o rot_v in_o thy_o heart_n be_v sure_a that_o that_o little_a portion_n of_o grace_n which_o thou_o attaine_v unto_o by_o live_v in_o the_o church_n and_o under_o the_o ministry_n of_o the_o word_n of_o god_n will_v be_v putryfy_v and_o clean_o corrupt_v with_o the_o chaff_n of_o thy_o sin_n therefore_o again_o and_o again_o i_o exhort_v you_o to_o make_v conscience_n of_o this_o duty_n search_v into_o yourselves_o fan_v out_o this_o chaff_n this_o presumption_n of_o we_o and_o high_a esteem_v of_o our_o own_o nature_n and_o conceit_n of_o god_n favour_n before_o we_o have_v it_o that_o so_o this_o chaff_n be_v blow_v away_o the_o lord_n may_v then_o bestow_v upon_o we_o soundness_n of_o grace_n and_o the_o foundation_n of_o all_o goodness_n which_o be_v a_o holy_a and_o humble_a heart_n salvation_n be_v such_o a_o building_n as_o the_o foundation_n thereof_o have_v need_n to_o be_v sure_a and_o strong_a ignorance_n blindness_n and_o presumption_n be_v not_o sufficient_a foundation_n for_o such_o a_o building_n therefore_o as_o no_o man_n will_v build_v a_o strong_a house_n upon_o any_o earth_n but_o he_o will_v first_o search_v it_o lest_o it_o prove_v sandy_a and_o so_o overthrow_v all_o so_o a_o wise_a christian_a will_v not_o build_v his_o salvation_n upon_o fancy_n and_o conceit_n and_o natural_a presumption_n but_o will_v search_v and_o look_v into_o his_o heart_n and_o find_v these_o to_o be_v sandy_a and_o rot_a and_o therefore_o too_o weak_a for_o the_o foundation_n of_o so_o glorious_a a_o building_n will_v refuse_v they_o all_o and_o labour_n to_o furnish_v his_o heart_n with_o such_o sound_n grace_n as_o whereupon_o he_o may_v trust_v so_o weighty_a a_o work_n as_o be_v the_o salvation_n of_o his_o soul_n again_o if_o thou_o will_v stand_v in_o the_o day_n of_o trial_n then_o search_v thy_o heart_n betimes_o and_o discern_v betwixt_o chaff_n and_o wheat_n thou_o see_v that_o chaff_n fly_v away_o before_o the_o wind_n but_o good_a corn_n endure_v the_o fan_n and_o the_o fury_n of_o the_o wind_n so_o in_o the_o day_n of_o trial_n
their_o god_n requite_v this_o his_o love_n which_o they_o have_v no_o more_o deserve_v than_o any_o other_o nation_n certain_o as_o they_o deserve_v it_o not_o afore_o they_o have_v it_o so_o they_o requite_v it_o not_o when_o they_o have_v it_o but_o requite_v this_o love_n of_o god_n with_o sin_n with_o rebellion_n and_o with_o disobedience_n they_o tempt_v he_o they_o provoke_v he_o to_o wrath_n they_o presume_v of_o his_o mercy_n and_o prove_v a_o most_o stubborn_a &_o stifnecked_a people_n a_o froward_a generation_n moses_n partly_o see_v this_o in_o his_o own_o experience_n and_o better_o discern_v it_o in_o the_o spirit_n of_o prophecy_n and_o therefore_o wonder_v at_o this_o their_o wickedness_n he_o cry_v out_o do_v you_o thus_o requite_v the_o lord_n o_o foolish_a people_n and_o unwise_a thus_o that_o be_v with_o sin_n and_o disobedience_n which_o be_v the_o only_a mean_n to_o displease_v the_o lord_n &_o to_o provoke_v he_o to_o wrath_n for_o this_o cause_n they_o be_v worthy_o call_v a_o foolish_a and_o unkind_a people_n by_o moses_n and_o here_o by_o the_o prophet_n a_o nation_n not_o worthy_a to_o be_v belove_v namely_o for_o their_o unthankfulness_n and_o unkindness_n which_o be_v such_o as_o they_o not_o only_o be_v slack_v and_o careless_a in_o performance_n of_o such_o duty_n as_o god_n require_v but_o even_o multiply_v their_o sin_n and_o commit_v those_o soul_n rebellion_n which_o his_o soul_n hate_v and_o among_o many_o the_o prophet_n here_o in_o this_o chapter_n note_v three_o of_o their_o great_a sin_n for_o which_o they_o be_v a_o nation_n not_o worthy_a to_o be_v belove_v covetousness_n cruelty_n and_o deceit_n all_o which_o be_v the_o more_o heinous_a and_o intolerable_a because_o they_o be_v the_o sin_n of_o their_o prince_n their_o ruler_n and_o their_o priest_n who_o shall_v have_v be_v light_n &_o example_n to_o the_o rest_n now_o although_o every_o sin_n in_o itself_o be_v of_o that_o ill_a desert_n as_o it_o be_v able_a to_o cast_v we_o out_o of_o god_n favour_n and_o deprive_v we_o of_o his_o love_n yet_o behold_v here_o god_n complain_v not_o upon_o a_o little_a cause_n but_o for_o wonderful_a and_o exceed_a unthankfulnes_n &_o unkindness_n in_o they_o who_o of_o all_o other_o shall_v have_v love_v the_o lord_n as_o a_o man_n care_v not_o for_o hard_a usage_n from_o he_o who_o he_o esteem_v not_o but_o a_o little_a unkindness_n do_v great_o grieve_v a_o man_n from_o he_o who_o be_v love_v and_o respect_v so_o be_v it_o with_o the_o lord_n our_o god_n he_o love_v not_o the_o gentile_n as_o he_o do_v the_o jew_n 147._o neither_o be_v he_o so_o bountiful_a unto_o they_o 30._o and_o therefore_o as_o we_o may_v see_v though_o they_o live_v always_o in_o ignorance_n and_o continue_v always_o in_o disobedience_n yet_o the_o text_n say_v the_o time_n of_o that_o ignorance_n god_n regard_v not_o but_o when_o as_o the_o jew_n his_o own_o people_n who_o he_o choose_v out_o of_o all_o people_n and_o bestow_v his_o love_n upon_o they_o and_o make_v his_o covenant_n of_o grace_n with_o they_o when_o they_o become_v unkind_a unthankful_a forgetful_a stubborn_a and_o rebellious_a that_o cause_v the_o lord_n even_o to_o complain_v of_o that_o indignity_n and_o to_o cry_v out_o by_o moses_n do_v you_o thus_o requite_v the_o lord_n o_o foolish_a people_n and_o unwise_a and_o hereby_o the_o prophet_n o_o nation_n not_o worthy_a to_o be_v belove_v and_o therefore_o there_o be_v no_o man_n but_o if_o he_o be_v ask_v what_o he_o think_v of_o this_o nation_n of_o the_o jew_n he_o will_v answer_v that_o they_o be_v a_o most_o vile_a and_o wicked_a people_n a_o froward_a generation_n and_o that_o they_o be_v worthy_a to_o taste_v deep_o of_o all_o god_n plague_n who_o so_o far_o abuse_v his_o love_n and_o mercy_n but_o what_o do_v this_o belong_v to_o they_o alone_o and_o be_v israel_n a_o nation_n not_o worthy_a to_o be_v belove_v nay_o i_o may_v cry_v out_o with_o as_o good_a cause_n o_o england_n a_o nation_n not_o worthy_a to_o be_v belove_v for_o god_n have_v be_v as_o good_a a_o god_n to_o we_o as_o he_o be_v to_o they_o and_o we_o have_v be_v as_o unkind_a a_o people_n to_o he_o as_o they_o be_v to_o he_o but_o that_o i_o may_v be_v free_a from_o discredit_v our_o nation_n &_o from_o defile_v my_o own_o nest_n let_v we_o prove_v both_o these_o point_n and_o lie_v they_o open_a to_o the_o view_n of_o the_o world_n 1._o first_o therefore_o the_o same_o mercy_n and_o far_o great_a have_v be_v pour_v and_o heap_v upon_o we_o he_o have_v call_v we_o out_o of_o the_o dareknes_n first_o of_o heathenism_n and_o then_o of_o popery_n his_o covenant_n of_o grace_n and_o salvation_n he_o have_v confirm_v with_o we_o his_o treasure_n of_o his_o word_n and_o sacrament_n he_o have_v impart_v to_o we_o his_o holy_a word_n never_o better_a preach_v and_o the_o mystery_n thereof_o never_o more_o plain_o open_v since_o the_o time_n of_o the_o apostle_n and_o as_o we_o have_v religion_n so_o we_o have_v it_o under_o a_o religious_a prince_n whereby_o it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o these_o blessing_n of_o salvation_n we_o enjoy_v not_o in_o secret_a or_o by_o stealth_n but_o we_o have_v it_o countenance_v by_o authority_n so_o that_o religion_n be_v not_o bare_o allow_v but_o even_o as_o it_o be_v even_o thrust_v upon_o man_n beside_o all_o this_o we_o have_v a_o land_n also_o that_o flow_v with_o milk_n and_o honey_n it_o be_v plentiful_a in_o all_o good_a thing_n we_o have_v liberty_n &_o peace_n under_o a_o peaceable_a prince_n and_o the_o companion_n of_o peace_n prosperity_n plenty_n health_n wealth_n corn_n wool_n gold_n silver_n abundance_n of_o all_o thing_n that_o may_v please_v the_o heart_n of_o man_n thus_o have_v god_n deserve_v the_o love_n of_o england_n 2._o but_o now_o england_n how_o have_v thou_o requite_v this_o kindness_n of_o the_o lord_n certain_o even_o with_o a_o great_a measure_n of_o unkindness_n that_o be_v with_o more_o and_o great_a sin_n than_o ever_o israel_n do_v so_o that_o if_o moses_n speak_v true_a of_o they_o then_o may_v our_o moses_n much_o more_o true_o cry_v out_o against_o england_n do_v thou_o thus_o requite_v the_o lord_n thou_o foolish_a people_n and_o if_o this_o prophet_n say_v thus_o of_o israel_n for_o three_o sin_n then_o may_v it_o be_v say_v of_o england_n for_o three_o hundred_o sin_n o_o england_n a_o nation_n not_o worthy_a to_o be_v belove_v for_o thou_o have_v multiply_v thy_o transgression_n above_o they_o of_o israel_n even_o as_o though_o thou_o have_v resolve_v with_o thyself_o the_o more_o god_n kindness_n be_v heap_v on_o thou_o the_o more_o to_o multiply_v thy_o sin_n against_o he_o for_o thou_o england_n as_o thou_o have_v requite_v the_o lord_n with_o sin_n so_o not_o with_o a_o few_o sin_n or_o small_a sin_n or_o sin_n which_o hardly_o can_v have_v be_v prevent_v for_o that_o have_v be_v a_o matter_n of_o some_o excuse_n or_o not_o of_o so_o great_a complaint_n but_o thy_o sin_n be_v many_o and_o grievous_a and_o capital_a and_o which_o be_v worst_a of_o all_o wilful_a and_o affect_v even_o as_o though_o god_n have_v deserve_v evil_a of_o we_o and_o that_o therefore_o we_o ought_v malicious_o to_o requite_v he_o if_o any_o man_n make_v doubt_n of_o this_o and_o therefore_o think_v i_o speak_v too_o hardly_o of_o our_o church_n i_o will_v they_o deal_v plain_o and_o particular_o and_o rip_v up_o the_o sore_n of_o our_o nation_n that_o so_o they_o may_v be_v heal_v to_o the_o bottom_n the_o common_a sin_n of_o england_n wherewith_o the_o lord_n be_v requite_v be_v these_o first_o ignorance_n of_o god_n will_v and_o worship_n i_o speak_v not_o of_o that_o compel_a ignorance_n in_o many_o corner_n of_o our_o land_n which_o be_v to_o be_v pity_v because_o they_o want_v the_o mean_n but_o wilful_a and_o affect_a ignorance_n man_n be_v ignorant_a even_o because_o they_o will_v be_v ignorant_a mean_n of_o knowledge_n be_v never_o so_o plentiful_a and_o yet_o never_o more_o gross_a ignorance_n be_v not_o he_o wilful_o blind_a who_o will_v not_o open_v his_o eye_n in_o the_o light_n &_o can_v there_o be_v any_o darkness_n at_o noon_n day_n but_o it_o must_v be_v wilful_a but_o our_o nation_n be_v dark_a and_o blind_a in_o the_o sunshine_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o gross_o ignorant_a when_o the_o gospel_n beat_v their_o ear_n and_o light_n shine_v round_o about_o they_o so_o as_o if_o they_o close_v not_o their_o eye_n and_o stop_v not_o their_o ear_n they_o can_v not_o but_o both_o hear_v and_o see_v who_o will_v look_v for_o ignorance_n after_o thirty_o five_o year_n preach_v and_o yet_o many_o be_v as_o ignorant_a as_o if_o they_o have_v be_v bear_v and_o bring_v up_o under_o
