of_o the_o law_n they_o only_o be_v that_o the_o apostle_n exclude_v from_o justification_n in_o these_o word_n and_o the_o follow_v whosoever_o shall_v understand_v these_o thing_n which_o we_o have_v speak_v viz._n in_o the_o prosecution_n of_o this_o argument_n of_o the_o apostle_n he_o may_v easy_o see_v that_o the_o work_n which_o paul_n simple_o exclude_v from_o justification_n be_v such_o as_o be_v perform_v by_o man_n without_o gospel-grace_n by_o force_n of_o the_o mosaic-law_n or_o law_n of_o nature_n for_o the_o thing_n by_o which_o paul_n dispute_v against_o the_o mosaic-law_n do_v more_o strong_o militate_v as_o we_o have_v note_v somewhere_o viz._n pag._n 120._o before_o recite_v against_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n now_o this_o be_v a_o evident_a consectary_n from_o what_o be_v before_o say_v the_o apostle_n fight_v with_o this_o argument_n chief_o against_o justification_n by_o the_o law_n of_o moses_n or_o nature_n that_o both_o these_o law_n be_v pure_o destitute_a of_o those_o help_n by_o which_o a_o man_n may_v be_v draw_v to_o true_a holiness_n worthy_a of_o god_n and_o grateful_a to_o he_o it_o manifest_o hence_o follow_v that_o only_o that_o holiness_n and_o those_o work_n be_v exclude_v by_o the_o apostle_n from_o justification_n which_o proceed_v from_o a_o man_n weak_a ability_n ab_fw-la infirmitate_fw-la humana_fw-la who_o be_v in_o the_o state_n of_o the_o law_n or_o nature_n first_o then_o no_o man_n be_v bind_v to_o true_a holiness_n acceptable_a to_o god_n by_o the_o law_n of_o moses_n or_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n and_o consequent_o no_o man_n do_v sin_n in_o not_o perform_v obedience_n acceptable_a to_o god_n since_o it_o be_v this_o defect_n of_o these_o law_n neither_o of_o they_o either_o promise_a future_a reward_n or_o afford_v ability_n to_o perform_v true_a godliness_n second_o i_o can_v understand_v how_o this_o be_v consistent_a with_o what_o this_o author_n say_v pag._n 116._o before_o recite_v where_o he_o affirm_v that_o some_o heathen_n do_v sincere_o and_o hearty_o love_v and_o follow_v virtue_n and_o righteousness_n so_o far_o as_o it_o be_v know_v to_o they_o unless_o he_o will_v say_v that_o no_o virtue_n and_o righteousness_n please_v to_o god_n be_v know_v to_o they_o which_o will_v be_v to_o make_v his_o concession_n insignificant_a or_o that_o these_o heathen_n do_v super-erogate_a or_o do_v more_o than_o they_o have_v ability_n to_o do_v or_o than_o the_o law_n of_o nature_n require_v from_o they_o three_o this_o be_v to_o say_v that_o the_o apostle_n have_v copious_o and_o elaborate_o prove_v only_o these_o two_o thing_n viz._n 1._o that_o there_o be_v no_o justification_n by_o good_a work_n perform_v by_o man_n provide_v there_o be_v no_o promise_n of_o future_a reward_n make_v to_o they_o or_o at_o least_o provide_v man_n to_o perform_v they_o without_o respect_n to_o future_a recompense_n of_o reward_n and_o 2._o that_o no_o man_n be_v justify_v by_o do_v such_o work_n as_o man_n have_v in_o no_o sense_n any_o ability_n to_o do_v now_o can_v any_o imagine_v that_o any_o of_o the_o jew_n pharisaical_a teacher_n teach_v they_o that_o they_o may_v be_v justify_v by_o such_o work_n if_o it_o shall_v be_v reply_v no_o for_o their_o teacher_n teach_v they_o that_o they_o may_v be_v justify_v by_o the_o work_v of_o the_o law_n of_o moses_n or_o nature_n which_o work_v real_o have_v no_o promise_n of_o a_o future-life_n reward_n and_o they_o have_v real_o no_o ability_n to_o perform_v these_o work_n but_o their_o pharisaical_a teacher_n teach_v they_o that_o such_o work_n of_o the_o law_n of_o moses_n have_v a_o promise_n of_o future-life_n reward_n and_o that_o they_o have_v ability_n to_o do_v such_o work_n i_o shall_v let_v many_o thing_n pass_v that_o i_o may_v here_o rejoin_v to_o show_v the_o inconsistency_n of_o this_o reply_n with_o the_o whole_a discourse_n of_o the_o apostle_n yea_o and_o with_o the_o argument_n he_o strive_v to_o fasten_v on_o the_o apostle_n and_o also_o to_o show_v how_o improbable_a it_o be_v that_o man_n shall_v fancy_v themselves_o to_o have_v or_o believe_v other_o tell_v they_o they_o have_v power_n to_o do_v thing_n they_o have_v a_o impotency_n to_o do_v take_v impotency_n as_o this_o author_n apparent_o do_v for_o the_o proper_a natural_a impotency_n distinct_a from_o wickedness_n for_o a_o can_v distinct_a from_o a_o will_v not_o for_o it_o be_v not_o ordinary_a for_o multitude_n to_o fancy_v this_o nor_o to_o believe_v they_o that_o shall_v tell_v they_o so_o nor_o for_o any_o but_o wonderful_o weak_a and_o fanciful_a man_n though_o i_o know_v it_o be_v too_o common_a for_o man_n to_o have_v better_a thought_n of_o themselves_o than_o they_o shall_v in_o reference_n to_o their_o moral_n and_o so_o to_o think_v they_o be_v not_o so_o wicked_a as_o they_o be_v and_o that_o they_o have_v no_o moral-impotency_n which_o be_v wicked_a obstinacy_n to_o the_o do_v those_o good_a thing_n they_o have_v the_o natural_a power_n to_o do_v i_o say_v let_v these_o thing_n pass_v and_o also_o let_v pass_n what_o i_o can_v say_v to_o prove_v that_o the_o apostle_n will_v never_o have_v contradict_v these_o opinion_n viz._n that_o man_n may_v have_v be_v justify_v have_v they_o do_v all_o the_o law_n of_o moses_n or_o nature_n require_v of_o they_o so_o as_o only_o wicked_a wilfulness_n which_o be_v the_o moral-impotency_n hinder_v they_o because_o neither_o those_o nor_o any_o other_o law_n
