heart_n and_o cry_v out_o man_n and_o brethren_n what_o shall_v we_o do_v they_o see_v now_o a_o need_n of_o christ_n and_o be_v glad_a now_o to_o receive_v christ_n and_o to_o believe_v in_o christ_n well_o for_o the_o prosecution_n of_o this_o point_n i_o shall_v desire_v brief_o to_o speak_v to_o three_o thing_n 1._o show_v you_o that_o not_o believe_v on_o christ_n be_v a_o sin_n 2._o that_o it_o be_v not_o only_o a_o sin_n not_o to_o believe_v in_o christ_n but_o a_o great_a sin_n one_o of_o the_o great_a sin_n that_o a_o soul_n can_v be_v guilty_a of_o 3_o that_o it_o be_v the_o work_n of_o the_o spirit_n to_o convince_v a_o soul_n of_o the_o sin_n of_o unbelief_n 1._o then_o that_o unbelief_n be_v a_o sin_n it_o be_v that_o which_o very_o few_o be_v sensible_a of_o they_o scarce_o look_v upon_o unbelief_n to_o be_v a_o sin_n they_o look_v upon_o believe_v rather_o as_o their_o presumption_n and_o for_o their_o not_o believe_v they_o look_v upon_o it_o rather_o as_o their_o duty_n as_o their_o humility_n now_o i_o say_v unbelief_n be_v a_o sin_n such_o as_o do_v not_o believe_v on_o christ_n they_o be_v guilty_a of_o sin_n but_o mark_v i_o do_v not_o say_v that_o every_o one_o that_o do_v not_o believe_v on_o christ_n be_v guilty_a of_o the_o sin_n of_o unbelief_n no_o but_o unbelief_n be_v a_o sin_n only_o to_o they_o that_o have_v the_o gospel_n preach_v to_o they_o and_o christ_n offer_v to_o they_o it_o be_v a_o sin_n to_o they_o not_o to_o believe_v on_o christ_n it_o be_v not_o a_o sin_n to_o other_o and_o though_o heathen_n and_o pagan_n shall_v be_v condemn_v and_o damn_v in_o their_o unbelief_n yet_o not_o for_o their_o not_o believe_v on_o christ_n say_v christ_n john_n 15.22_o if_o i_o have_v not_o come_v and_o speak_v to_o they_o they_o have_v not_o have_v sin_n that_o be_v they_o have_v not_o have_v the_o sin_n of_o unbelief_n they_o have_v not_o be_v guilty_a of_o that_o sin_n but_o now_o they_o have_v no_o cloak_n no_o excuse_n for_o their_o sin_n look_v now_o as_o it_o be_v with_o those_o that_o have_v not_o the_o law_n write_v as_o the_o apostle_n speak_v rom._n 2.12_o 14_o 15._o they_o that_o sin_n without_o law_n shall_v be_v judge_v without_o the_o law_n they_o shall_v not_o be_v judge_v and_o condemn_v by_o the_o write_a law_n but_o they_o shall_v be_v judge_v and_o condemn_v by_o the_o law_n that_o be_v write_v in_o their_o heart_n and_o conscience_n so_o now_o here_o those_o that_o never_o have_v the_o gospel_n preach_v to_o they_o as_o a_o great_a many_o nation_n in_o the_o world_n pagan_n heathen_n and_o infidel_n and_o indian_n they_o never_o have_v the_o gospel_n preach_v to_o they_o christ_n be_v never_o reveal_v to_o they_o the_o name_n of_o christ_n never_o sound_v in_o their_o ear_n now_o they_o shall_v not_o be_v condemn_v for_o their_o not_o believe_v on_o christ_n it_o be_v not_o a_o sin_n to_o they_o and_o therefore_o some_o tell_v we_o there_o be_v a_o twofold_a unbelief_n there_o be_v a_o negative_a or_o privative_a unbelief_n that_o be_v the_o unbelief_n of_o those_o that_o never_o have_v the_o mean_n of_o faith_n offer_v they_o and_o it_o be_v not_o a_o sin_n for_o they_o not_o to_o believe_v on_o christ_n because_o they_o never_o hear_v of_o he_o but_o when_o there_o be_v a_o positive_a unbelief_n as_o they_o call_v it_o that_o be_v the_o unbelief_n of_o such_o as_o live_v under_o the_o sound_n of_o the_o gospel_n under_o the_o hear_n of_o christ_n christ_n be_v preach_v to_o they_o and_o hold_v forth_o to_o they_o and_o they_o be_v call_v upon_o to_o believe_v on_o christ_n and_o yet_o they_o believe_v not_o this_o be_v a_o positive_a unbelief_n and_o this_o unbelief_n be_v a_o sin_n and_o that_o it_o be_v a_o sin_n let_v i_o give_v you_o two_o or_o three_o demonstration_n 1._o it_o appear_v to_o be_v a_o sin_n because_o it_o be_v the_o transgression_n of_o the_o moral_a law_n or_o the_o law_n of_o the_o ten_o commandment_n where_o there_o be_v no_o law_n say_v the_o apostle_n there_o be_v no_o transgression_n sin_n be_v not_o impute_v where_o there_o be_v no_o law_n rom._n 5.13_o but_o sin_n be_v a_o transgression_n of_o the_o law_n and_o this_o sin_n of_o unbelief_n a_o transgression_n of_o the_o moral_a law_n of_o the_o first_o commandment_n objection_n how_o so_o you_o will_v say_v be_v believe_v on_o christ_n then_o command_v to_o adam_n in_o the_o first_o commandment_n answer_n i_o answer_v yes_o virtual_o the_o first_o commandment_n you_o know_v be_v thus_o thou_o shall_v have_v no_o other_o god_n before_o i_o that_o be_v thou_o shall_v own_v the_o true_a god_n for_o thy_o god_n and_o no_o other_o now_o how_o do_v we_o own_o god_n when_o we_o give_v he_o that_o worship_n that_o he_o require_v of_o we_o now_o the_o first_o commandment_n require_v that_o we_o shall_v worship_v god_n with_o a_o natural_a worship_n which_o be_v due_a to_o god_n from_o we_o as_o we_o be_v his_o creature_n that_o be_v comprise_v in_o the_o first_o commandment_n you_o shall_v worship_v god_n as_o god_n worship_v he_o how_o obey_v he_o fear_v he_o love_v he_o reverence_v he_o believe_v in_o he_o put_v trust_v and_o confidence_n in_o he_o the_o first_o commandment_n require_v that_o we_o shall_v yield_v obedience_n to_o god_n in_o whatsoever_o be_v require_v of_o we_o then_o this_o be_v virtual_o require_v in_o the_o first_o commandment_n it_o be_v our_o duty_n by_o virtue_n of_o the_o first_o commandment_n to_o believe_v in_o christ_n now_o if_o it_o be_v command_v in_o the_o law_n than_o our_o unbelief_n be_v a_o sin_n because_o it_o be_v a_o transgression_n of_o the_o law_n objection_n but_o you_o will_v say_v a_o little_a for_o the_o clear_n of_o this_o but_o this_o be_v inconsistent_a with_o the_o state_n of_o innocency_n for_o adam_n to_o believe_v on_o christ_n as_o a_o mediator_n as_o a_o saviour_n to_o save_v he_o from_o sin_n because_o adam_n be_v in_o a_o sinless_a condition_n he_o have_v no_o guilt_n upon_o he_o in_o his_o innocency_n it_o be_v then_o inconsistent_a with_o adam_n state_n to_o believe_v on_o christ_n as_o a_o mediator_n and_o saviour_n than_o it_o seem_v adam_n have_v no_o power_n to_o believe_v on_o christ_n and_o if_o so_o then_o certain_o not_o believe_v on_o christ_n be_v not_o a_o transgression_n of_o the_o first_o commandment_n answer_n for_o answer_v to_o it_o let_v i_o brief_o clear_v this_o in_o two_o thing_n 1._o it_o be_v grant_v it_o be_v true_a that_o it_o be_v inconsistent_a with_o adam_n state_n of_o innocency_n to_o rely_v upon_o christ_n and_o to_o believe_v on_o christ_n as_o a_o saviour_n to_o save_v he_o from_o sin_n for_o he_o have_v no_o sin_n he_o be_v innocent_a therefore_o it_o be_v inconsistent_a with_o his_o state_n to_o believe_v on_o christ_n as_o a_o saviour_n yea_o it_o be_v inconsistent_a with_o the_o wisdom_n of_o god_n to_o require_v adam_n to_o believe_v on_o christ_n to_o command_v such_o a_o duty_n of_o adam_n yet_o notwithstanding_o mark_v i_o pray_v adam_n have_v a_o principle_n and_o a_o virtual_a power_n for_o to_o have_v believe_v on_o christ_n if_o god_n have_v require_v it_o of_o he_o though_o its_o true_a it_o be_v inconsistent_a with_o his_o state_n that_o god_n shall_v require_v it_o of_o he_o yet_o adam_n have_v this_o principle_n this_o virtual_a power_n put_v into_o he_o with_o his_o first_o creation_n in_o the_o image_n of_o god_n he_o have_v this_o power_n put_v into_o he_o that_o he_o have_v a_o virtual_a power_n to_o obey_v god_n in_o every_o thing_n that_o he_o shall_v require_v of_o he_o whatever_o god_n shall_v reveal_v to_o be_v his_o will_n he_o have_v power_n to_o believe_v it_o and_o yield_v obedience_n to_o it_o though_o it_o be_v true_a it_o be_v inconsistent_a with_o his_o state_n actual_o to_o believe_v yet_o he_o have_v a_o power_n to_o have_v believe_v on_o christ_n if_o god_n have_v require_v it_o of_o he_o for_o adam_n have_v a_o power_n to_o do_v that_o which_o be_v inconsistent_a with_o his_o state_n of_o innocency_n as_o for_o example_n adam_n have_v a_o principle_n and_o virtual_a power_n to_o show_v mercy_n and_o compassion_n to_o any_o that_o be_v in_o misery_n but_o that_o be_v inconsistent_a with_o his_o state_n for_o there_o be_v none_o in_o misery_n then_o there_o be_v no_o need_n of_o the_o compassion_n of_o adam_n yet_o adam_n have_v a_o principle_n a_o virtual_a power_n to_o have_v do_v this_o so_o in_o this_o case_n though_o it_o be_v true_a believe_v on_o christ_n
as_o a_o saviour_n be_v inconsistent_a with_o his_o state_n yet_o he_o have_v a_o principle_n and_o virtual_a power_n to_o have_v believe_v on_o christ_n as_o a_o saviour_n if_o god_n have_v require_v it_o of_o he_o or_o else_o it_o be_v not_o our_o sin_n now_o not_o to_o believe_v on_o christ_n if_o there_o be_v never_o a_o power_n give_v to_o adam_n in_o the_o state_n of_o innocency_n to_o have_v believe_v if_o god_n have_v require_v it_o of_o he_o for_o we_o be_v now_o condemn_v for_o not_o believe_v on_o christ_n the_o power_n be_v once_o give_v we_o though_o we_o have_v lose_v the_o power_n yet_o that_o do_v not_o excuse_v we_o for_o the_o sin_n of_o unbelief_n that_o be_v one_o answer_n but_o 2._o though_o it_o be_v true_a believe_v on_o christ_n be_v not_o express_o require_v in_o the_o first_o commandment_n yet_o notwithstanding_o it_o be_v and_o be_v implicit_o require_v namely_o thus_o it_o be_v and_o be_v require_v in_o the_o first_o commandment_n that_o we_o shall_v yield_v obedidience_n of_o faith_n to_o whatever_o god_n shall_v require_v of_o we_o now_o then_o though_o believe_v on_o christ_n be_v not_o express_o require_v and_o command_v yet_o notwithstanding_o believe_v on_o christ_n be_v implicit_o require_v thus_o that_o when_o ever_o god_n shall_v reveal_v and_o make_v christ_n know_v to_o we_o when_o ever_o god_n shall_v command_v we_o to_o believe_v on_o christ_n this_o be_v require_v that_o we_o be_v bind_v by_o virtue_n of_o the_o first_o commandment_n to_o believe_v on_o christ_n though_o it_o be_v true_a it_o be_v inconsistent_a with_o that_o state_n yet_o notwithstanding_o it_o be_v implicit_o require_v in_o the_o first_o commandment_n as_o to_o instance_n you_o know_v gospel-worship_n or_o the_o worship_n that_o god_n require_v now_o in_o the_o gospel_n it_o be_v inconsistent_a with_o that_o worship_n that_o god_n require_v in_o the_o time_n of_o the_o law_n yet_o notwithstanding_o gospel-worship_n be_v implicit_o require_v in_o the_o second_o commandment_n now_o it_o be_v true_a gospel-worship_n be_v not_o express_v in_o the_o second_o commandment_n yet_o notwithstanding_o it_o be_v virtual_o employ_v because_o we_o be_v bind_v by_o virtue_n of_o that_o commandment_n to_o worship_n god_n with_o that_o worship_n which_o god_n shall_v institute_v or_o appoint_v god_n have_v now_o appoint_v gospel-worship_n under_o the_o new_a testament_n and_o by_o virtue_n of_o the_o second_o commandment_n we_o be_v bind_v to_o yield_v obedience_n to_o it_o now_o though_o it_o be_v inconsistent_a with_o the_o worship_n in_o the_o time_n of_o the_o law_n so_o the_o four_o commandment_n require_v that_o we_o shall_v keep_v holy_a the_o sabbath_n day_n the_o express_a letter_n of_o the_o commandment_n be_v to_o sanctify_v the_o seven_o day_n from_o the_o creation_n now_o that_o we_o shall_v keep_v the_o first_o day_n of_o the_o week_n for_o the_o sabbath_n under_o the_o gospel_n this_o be_v not_o express_v in_o the_o four_o commandment_n yet_o it_o be_v implicit_o require_v namely_o that_o we_o shall_v keep_v holy_a that_o seven_o day_n that_o god_n have_v appoint_v or_o shall_v appoint_v if_o god_n do_v change_v the_o seven_o day_n to_o the_o first_o day_n of_o the_o week_n still_o by_o virtue_n of_o the_o four_o commandment_n we_o be_v bind_v to_o sanctify_v and_o celebrate_v the_o first_o day_n of_o the_o week_n for_o the_o sabbath_n so_o now_o in_o this_o case_n though_o the_o first_o commandment_n do_v not_o express_o require_v our_o faith_n in_o christ_n yet_o implicity_n we_o be_v bind_v by_o virtue_n of_o that_o commandment_n to_o yield_v obedience_n of_o faith_n to_o whatever_o god_n shall_v reveal_v or_o make_v know_v to_o we_o or_o command_v we_o to_o believe_v any_o time_n afterward_o so_o that_o now_o if_o our_o believe_v on_o christ_n be_v require_v in_o the_o first_o commandment_n than_o unbelief_n be_v a_o transgression_n of_o the_o first_o commandment_n and_o so_o a_o sin_n this_o be_v the_o first_o demonstration_n 2._o it_o appear_v to_o be_v a_o sin_n namely_o because_o not_o believe_v on_o christ_n be_v a_o transgression_n of_o the_o commandment_n of_o the_o gospel_n not_o only_o a_o transgression_n of_o the_o first_o table_n of_o the_o law_n but_o it_o be_v a_o transgression_n of_o the_o great_a commandment_n of_o the_o gospel_n brethren_n the_o gospel_n be_v a_o law_n it_o be_v call_v the_o law_n of_o faith_n rom._n 2.27_o where_o then_o be_v boast_v it_o be_v exclude_v by_o what_o law_n of_o work_n nay_o but_o by_o the_o law_n of_o faith_n what_o be_v that_o that_o be_v the_o gospel_n the_o gospel_n be_v the_o law_n of_o faith_n wherein_o god_n require_v our_o faith_n and_o believe_v on_o christ_n and_o therefore_o faith_n be_v call_v the_o obedience_n of_o faith_n rom._n 16.26_o but_o now_o be_v it_o make_v manifest_a by_o the_o scripture_n of_o the_o prophet_n according_a to_o the_o commandment_n of_o the_o everlasting_a god_n make_v know_v to_o all_o nation_n for_o the_o obedience_n of_o faith_n that_o be_v that_o the_o nation_n shall_v believe_v on_o christ_n and_o so_o yield_v obedience_n to_o the_o gospel_n by_o believe_v it_o be_v the_o command_n of_o the_o gospel_n therefore_o now_o not_o believe_v on_o christ_n be_v a_o transgression_n of_o a_o gospel_n command_n where_o do_v the_o gospel_n command_v our_o believe_v on_o christ_n express_o why_o every_o where_o to_o name_v but_o a_o place_n or_o two_o john_n 6.29_o say_v christ_n this_o be_v the_o work_n of_o god_n that_o you_o believe_v on_o he_o who_o he_o have_v send_v this_o be_v the_o work_n of_o god_n not_o only_o the_o work_n that_o god_n work_v in_o we_o that_o be_v not_o the_o meaning_n of_o the_o place_n but_o this_o be_v the_o work_n that_o god_n require_v and_o command_v the_o special_a work_n and_o duty_n that_o god_n require_v that_o you_o shall_v believe_v on_o the_o name_n of_o his_o son_n jesus_n christ_n and_o you_o have_v a_o more_o express_a place_n 1_o john_n 3.23_o this_o be_v his_o commandment_n that_o you_o believe_v on_o the_o name_n of_o his_o son_n jesus_n christ_n this_o be_v the_o great_a commandment_n of_o the_o gospel_n that_o we_o shall_v believe_v on_o the_o name_n of_o jesus_n christ_n therefore_o now_o not_o to_o believe_v on_o christ_n be_v command_v in_o the_o gospel_n be_v a_o transgression_n of_o the_o commandment_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o the_o transgression_n of_o a_o gospel_n command_n be_v a_o sin_n as_o well_o as_o any_o transgression_n of_o the_o ten_o commandment_n now_o believe_v on_o christ_n be_v express_o require_v in_o the_o gospel_n unbelief_n be_v a_o transgression_n of_o the_o command_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o therefore_o it_o be_v a_o sin_n that_o be_v the_o second_o demonstration_n 3._o not_o believe_v on_o christ_n appear_v to_o be_v a_o sin_n though_o we_o make_v nothing_o of_o it_o because_o god_n do_v inflict_v punishment_n for_o not_o believe_v on_o christ_n god_n do_v punish_v man_n for_o not_o believe_v on_o christ_n now_o god_n do_v never_o inflict_v punishment_n for_o that_o which_o be_v no_o sin_n punishment_n proper_o be_v the_o consequent_a and_o effect_n of_o sin_n where_o there_o be_v no_o sin_n there_o be_v no_o punishment_n therefore_o when_o god_n take_v away_o the_o guilt_n of_o sin_n in_o justification_n then_o god_n pardon_v a_o soul_n the_o soul_n be_v free_a from_o all_o punishment_n for_o sin_n there_o be_v therefore_o no_o condemnation_n no_o real_a punishment_n for_o sin_n to_o they_o that_o be_v in_o christ_n jesus_n now_o than_o that_o god_n do_v punish_v for_o unbelief_n though_o not_o total_a unbelief_n it_o be_v apparent_a you_o know_v moses_n be_v punish_v for_o not_o believe_v and_o honour_v of_o god_n by_o believe_v at_o the_o water_n meriba_n numb_a 20.12_o and_o the_o lord_n speak_v unto_o moses_n and_o aaron_n because_o you_o believe_v i_o not_o to_o sanctify_v i_o in_o the_o eye_n of_o the_o child_n of_o israel_n therefore_o you_o shall_v not_o bring_v this_o congregation_n into_o the_o land_n which_o i_o have_v give_v they_o moses_n plead_v hard_o with_o god_n that_o he_o may_v go_v over_o and_o see_v the_o good_a land_n say_v the_o lord_n speak_v no_o more_o of_o it_o i_o will_v not_o hear_v you_o in_o this_o thing_n you_o shall_v see_v it_o indeed_o but_o you_o shall_v not_o enter_v into_o it_o because_o you_o do_v not_o honour_v i_o by_o believe_v god_n punish_v unbelief_n and_o therefore_o unbelief_n must_v be_v a_o sin_n and_o so_o the_o israelite_n for_o their_o unbelief_n god_n do_v punish_v they_o psal_n 78.32_o 33._o for_o all_o this_o they_o sin_v still_o and_o believe_v not_o for_o his_o wondrous_a work_n and_o what_o follow_v therefore_o their_o day_n do_v he_o consume_v in_o vanity_n and_o their_o year_n in_o trouble_n therefore_o god_n punish_v they_o for_o their_o
great_a concernment_n if_o i_o be_v immediate_o to_o go_v out_o of_o the_o world_n and_o be_v to_o preach_v my_o last_o farewell_o sermon_n i_o know_v not_o what_o truth_n to_o commend_v to_o you_o of_o more_o concernment_n than_o this_o of_o the_o righteousness_n which_o the_o spirit_n do_v convince_v the_o world_n of_o in_o order_n to_o their_o salvation_n now_o that_o i_o may_v open_v it_o to_o you_o if_o the_o lord_n please_v and_o the_o lord_n open_v our_o heart_n that_o we_o may_v understand_v it_o i_o shall_v only_o speak_v to_o these_o three_o thing_n 1._o to_o show_v you_o in_o the_o general_n what_o we_o be_v to_o understand_v by_o righteousness_n 2._o to_o show_v you_o more_o particular_o what_o this_o righteousness_n be_v which_o be_v the_o work_n of_o the_o spirit_n to_o convince_v we_o of_o and_o 3._o show_v you_o how_o or_o in_o what_o way_n usual_o the_o spirit_n do_v convince_v a_o soul_n of_o righteousness_n or_o what_o work_n the_o spirit_n do_v in_o a_o soul_n in_o order_n to_o the_o convince_a it_o of_o righteousness_n i_o shall_v bound_v my_o discourse_n in_o speak_v to_o these_o three_o particular_n if_o the_o lord_n please_v 1._o then_o what_o be_v we_o to_o understand_v by_o righteousness_n in_o the_o general_a for_o that_o will_v make_v way_n for_o our_o understanding_n what_o this_o righteousness_n be_v in_o the_o general_a then_o righteousness_n be_v nothing_o else_o but_o a_o perfect_a exact_a conformity_n to_o the_o law_n of_o god_n or_o to_o the_o reveal_v will_n of_o god_n a_o exact_a conformity_n to_o it_o both_o in_o heart_n and_o life_n that_o be_v righteousness_n in_o the_o general_a i_o say_v a_o perfect_a conformity_n to_o the_o whole_a will_n of_o god_n reveal_v not_o only_o in_o the_o outward_a conversation_n but_o in_o the_o inward_a frame_n of_o the_o heart_n and_o soul_n you_o know_v when_o adam_n be_v at_o first_o create_v when_o he_o come_v immediate_o out_o of_o the_o hand_n of_o god_n he_o be_v make_v perfect_o righteous_a god_n make_v man_n upright_o that_o be_v righteous_a well_o wherein_o do_v that_o righteousness_n of_o adam_n consist_v what_o be_v the_o righteousness_n that_o adam_n be_v create_v in_o it_o be_v say_v he_o be_v make_v in_o the_o image_n of_o god_n now_o wherein_o do_v the_o image_n of_o god_n in_o adam_n lie_v what_o only_o in_o the_o conformity_n of_o his_o outward_a action_n to_o the_o law_n and_o will_n of_o god_n no_o alas_o that_o be_v the_o least_o part_n of_o the_o image_n of_o god_n in_o adam_n but_o adam_n be_v make_v in_o the_o image_n of_o god_n upright_o and_o righteous_a and_o holy_a in_o his_o inward_a man_n especial_o in_o his_o soul_n he_o be_v make_v exact_o conformable_a to_o the_o will_n of_o god_n in_o every_o thing_n that_o he_o require_v of_o he_o and_o therefore_o now_o when_o adam_n do_v sin_n and_o fall_v he_o lose_v the_o image_n of_o god_n he_o lose_v that_o righteousness_n that_o be_v in_o his_o inward_a man_n and_o you_o see_v after_o his_o fall_n it_o be_v say_v that_o every_o imagination_n of_o the_o thought_n of_o man_n heart_n be_v only_o evil_a and_o that_o continual_o gen._n 6.5_o not_o only_o every_o action_n that_o he_o do_v be_v evil_a no_o but_o the_o very_a thought_n of_o his_o heart_n the_o inward_a frame_n of_o his_o heart_n and_o spirit_n be_v only_o evil_a and_o that_o continual_o here_o be_v the_o stumble_a stone_n that_o some_o weak_a and_o tender_a heart_n be_v ready_a to_o lay_v before_o their_o own_o face_n i_o have_v not_o be_v so_o convince_v and_o so_o humble_v as_o other_o have_v be_v and_o therefore_o i_o question_v whether_o i_o have_v be_v true_o convince_v or_o humble_v for_o sin_n or_o no_o how_o shall_v i_o know_v whether_o i_o have_v be_v true_o convince_v of_o sin_n answer_n the_o truth_n be_v it_o be_v not_o possible_a to_o determine_v a_o particular_a degree_n of_o convince_a of_o sin_n for_o every_o particular_a person_n and_o therefore_o i_o shall_v give_v you_o this_o as_o a_o rule_n to_o know_v when_o your_o convince_a of_o sin_n be_v sufficient_a namely_o than_o convince_a of_o sin_n be_v sufficient_a when_o as_o a_o soul_n be_v find_v a_o work_n of_o conviction_n upon_o their_o heart_n then_o certain_o it_o be_v necessary_a in_o order_n to_o conversion_n and_o salvation_n and_o again_o not_o to_o multiply_v thing_n of_o this_o nature_n if_o this_o work_n of_o convince_a of_o sin_n be_v not_o necessary_a to_o what_o end_n else_o serve_v the_o law_n say_v the_o apostle_n rom._n 7.7_o what_o shall_v we_o say_v then_o be_v the_o law_n sin_n god_n forbid_v nay_o i_o have_v not_o know_v sin_n but_o by_o the_o law_n i_o have_v not_o know_v lust_n except_o the_o law_n have_v say_v thou_o shall_v not_o covet_v and_o
