sin_n there_o be_v nothing_o positive_a but_o it_o be_v a_o want_n of_o that_o which_o ought_v to_o be_v or_o subsist_v partly_o in_o the_o nature_n of_o man_n and_o partly_o in_o the_o action_n of_o nature_n thus_o we_o see_v what_o sin_n be_v the_o second_o thing_n to_o be_v consider_v be_v what_o be_v a_o sinner_n proper_o for_o the_o knowledge_n hereof_o we_o must_v consider_v in_o every_o be_v a_o further_a difficulty_n when_o a_o man_n have_v commit_v some_o offence_n and_o the_o say_a offence_n be_v do_v and_o pass_v it_o may_v be_v some_o twenty_o or_o thirty_o year_n yet_o the_o party_n offend_v do_v not_o therefore_o cease_v to_o be_v a_o sinner_n now_o than_o i_o demand_v what_o be_v the_o very_a thing_n for_o which_o he_o be_v name_v and_o rearm_v still_o a_o sinner_n in_o the_o time_n present_a the_o offence_n be_v past_a the_o answer_n be_v that_o every_o actual_a sin_n beside_o the_o three_o former_a must_v be_v consider_v with_o a_o four_o thing_n to_o wit_n a_o certain_a stain_n or_o blot_n which_o it_o imprint_n and_o leaf_n in_o the_o maculâ—_n offender_n as_o a_o fruit_n and_o that_o be_v a_o inclination_n or_o evil_a disposition_n of_o the_o heart_n more_o he_o still_o desire_v to_o drink_v even_o so_o a_o sinner_n the_o more_o he_o sin_n the_o apt_a be_v he_o to_o sin_n and_o more_o desirous_a to_o keep_v still_o a_o course_n in_o wickedness_n and_o as_o a_o man_n that_o look_v upon_o the_o sun_n if_o he_o turn_v his_o face_n away_o remain_v turn_v until_o he_o turn_v himself_o again_o so_o he_o that_o turn_v from_o god_n by_o any_o sin_n make_v himself_o a_o sinner_n and_o so_o remain_v until_o he_o turn_v himself_o again_o by_o repentance_n thus_o david_n be_v a_o sinner_n not_o only_o in_o the_o very_a act_n of_o his_o adultery_n and_o murder_n but_o even_o when_o the_o act_n be_v do_v and_o pass_v he_o remain_v still_o a_o murderer_n and_o a_o adulterer_n because_o a_o new_a or_o rather_o a_o renew_a proneness_n to_o these_o and_o all_o other_o sin_n take_v place_n in_o his_o heart_n by_o his_o fall_n and_o get_v strength_n till_o he_o turn_v to_o god_n by_o repentance_n upon_o the_o admonition_n of_o the_o prophet_n the_o thing_n then_o whereby_o a_o sinner_n be_v term_v a_o sinner_n be_v the_o fault_n together_o with_o the_o fruit_n thereof_o namely_o the_o blot_n imprint_v in_o the_o soul_n so_o oft_o as_o man_n deceive_v themselves_o that_o think_v all_o the_o evil_a of_o sin_n to_o be_v only_o in_o the_o act_n of_o sin_v &_o to_o go_v no_o further_o whereas_o indeed_o every_o offence_n have_v a_o certain_a blot_n go_v with_o it_o that_o corrupt_v the_o heart_n and_o cause_v man_n to_o delight_n and_o lie_v in_o his_o offence_n which_o lie_v in_o sin_n be_v a_o great_a cause_n of_o damnation_n than_o the_o very_a sin_n itself_o this_o therefore_o must_v admonish_v we_o to_o take_v heed_n lest_o we_o continue_v in_o any_o sin_n and_o if_o it_o fall_v out_o that_o through_o infirmity_n we_o after_o diligence_n and_o good_a pain_n take_v still_o remain_v ignorant_a this_o ignorance_n will_v not_o excuse_v any_o man_n if_o it_o be_v of_o such_o thing_n as_o he_o be_v bind_v to_o know_v for_o it_o be_v faide_v he_o that_o do_v not_o his_o master_n will_v by_o reason_n he_o know_v it_o not_o shall_v be_v beat_v with_o stripe_n though_o few_o and_o in_o this_o regard_n even_o the_o heathen_a which_o know_v not_o god_n be_v inexcusable_a because_o they_o be_v bind_v to_o have_v know_v he_o for_o adam_n have_v the_o perfect_a knowledge_n of_o god_n imprint_v in_o his_o nature_n and_o lose_v the_o same_o through_o his_o own_o default_n for_o himself_o and_o his_o posterity_n and_o it_o be_v the_o commandment_n of_o god_n whereunto_o every_o man_n be_v bind_v to_o perform_v obedience_n that_o man_n shall_v know_v he_o that_o be_v his_o will_n and_o word_n but_o some_o may_v demand_v how_o any_o man_n can_v be_v save_v see_v every_o man_n be_v ignorant_a of_o many_o inconvenience_n which_o arise_v from_o the_o nature_n of_o indifferent_a thing_n conveniency_n be_v when_o a_o thing_n or_o action_n be_v so_o fit_v to_o the_o circumstance_n and_o the_o circumstance_n fit_v to_o it_o that_o thereby_o it_o become_v a_o thing_n convenient_a on_o the_o otherside_n inconvenience_n be_v when_o the_o thing_n or_o action_n be_v do_v in_o unmeete_a circumstance_n which_o bring_v some_o hurt_n or_o loss_n to_o the_o outward_a man_n or_o stand_v not_o with_o decency_n and_o therefore_o do_v make_v it_o to_o be_v inconvenient_a and_o by_o this_o that_o have_v be_v say_v we_o may_v discern_v when_o a_o action_n be_v good_a evil_a indifferent_a convenient_a or_o inconvenient_a the_o three_o ground_n be_v touch_v the_o degree_n or_o difference_n of_o sinne._n and_o here_o we_o must_v first_o of_o all_o search_n what_o be_v sin_n proper_o and_o what_o be_v proper_o a_o sinner_n sin_n in_o his_o proper_a nature_n as_o s._n john_n say_v be_v a_o anomy_n that_o be_v a_o want_n of_o 4._o conformity_n to_o the_o law_n of_o god_n for_o the_o better_a understanding_n whereof_o we_o must_v know_v that_o there_o be_v in_o adam_n before_o his_o god_n what_o be_v his_o sin_n not_o the_o want_n of_o the_o two_o former_a for_o they_o both_o remain_v but_o the_o very_a want_n and_o absence_n of_o the_o three_o thing_n namely_o of_o conformity_n to_o god_n will_n i_o make_v it_o plain_a by_o this_o resemblance_n in_o a_o musical_a instrument_n there_o be_v to_o be_v consider_v not_o only_o the_o instrument_n itself_o and_o the_o sound_n of_o the_o instrument_n but_o also_o the_o harmony_n in_o the_o sound_n now_o the_o contrary_a to_o harmony_n or_o the_o disorder_n in_o music_n be_v none_o of_o the_o two_o former_a but_o the_o three_o namely_o the_o discord_n which_o be_v the_o want_n or_o absence_n of_o harmony_n which_o we_o call_v disharmonie_n in_o the_o same_o manner_n the_o sin_n of_o adam_n be_v not_o the_o absence_n either_o of_o the_o substance_n or_o of_o the_o faculty_n of_o the_o soul_n and_o the_o body_n but_o the_o want_n of_o the_o three_o thing_n before_o name_v &_o that_o be_v conformity_n or_o correspondency_n to_o the_o will_n of_o god_n in_o regard_n of_o obedience_n but_o some_o may_v say_v the_o want_n of_o conformity_n in_o the_o power_n of_o the_o soul_n be_v not_o sin_n proper_o because_o in_o sin_n there_o must_v be_v not_o only_o a_o absence_n of_o goodness_n but_o a_o habit_n or_o presence_n of_o evil_a i_o answer_v that_o this_o very_a want_n of_o conformity_n be_v not_o only_o the_o absence_n of_o goodness_n but_o also_o the_o habit_n or_o presence_n of_o evil_a for_o as_o this_o want_n enter_v in_o and_o be_v receive_v into_o man_n nature_n it_o be_v proper_o a_o want_n or_o absence_n of_o goodness_n again_o after_o it_o be_v receive_v into_o the_o nature_n of_o man_n it_o continue_v and_o abide_v in_o the_o power_n and_o faculty_n thereof_o and_o so_o it_o carry_v the_o name_n of_o a_o habit_n it_o may_v be_v say_v again_o that_o lust_n and_o concupiscence_n that_o be_v original_a sin_n draw_v the_o heart_n away_o from_o the_o service_n of_o god_n and_o entice_v it_o to_o evil_n now_o to_o entice_v or_o draw_v away_o be_v a_o action_n and_o this_o action_n can_v proceed_v of_o a_o mere_a privation_n or_o want_n ans._n we_o must_v consider_v sin_n two_o way_n first_o joint_o with_o the_o thing_n or_o subject_n in_o which_o it_o be_v second_o by_o itself_o in_o his_o own_o nature_n if_o we_o consider_v it_o with_o his_o subject_n it_o be_v a_o evil_a inclination_n or_o action_n but_o if_o we_o consider_v it_o in_o it_o own_o nature_n it_o be_v no_o inclination_n or_o action_n but_o a_o want_n for_o example_n in_o a_o murder_n we_o must_v consider_v two_o thing_n one_o be_v the_o action_n of_o move_v the_o body_n and_o of_o hold_v up_o the_o weapon_n etc._n etc._n which_o be_v no_o sin_n proper_o if_o it_o be_v consider_v as_o a_o action_n because_o every_o action_n come_v from_o god_n who_o be_v the_o first_o cause_n of_o all_o thing_n and_o action_n again_o in_o murder_n there_o be_v a_o second_o thing_n namely_o the_o kill_a or_o slay_v of_o the_o man_n which_o be_v the_o disorder_n or_o aberration_n in_o the_o action_n whereby_o it_o be_v dispose_v to_o a_o wrong_a use_n and_o end_n and_o thus_o the_o action_n be_v a_o sin_n namely_o in_o respect_n it_o want_v conformity_n to_o the_o will_n of_o god_n the_o nature_n then_o of_o the_o sin_n lie_v not_o in_o the_o action_n but_o in_o the_o manner_n of_o do_v the_o sin_n of_o omission_n have_v three_o degree_n first_o when_o a_o man_n do_v nothing_o at_o all_o but_o omit_v the_o duty_n command_v both_o in_o whole_a and_o in_o part_n as_o when_o have_v
