sin_n be_v handle_v it_o do_v not_o intend_v to_o comprehend_v the_o bless_a and_o immaculate_a virgin_n mary_n the_o mother_n of_o god_n but_o that_o the_o constitution_n of_o pope_n sixtus_n the_o four_o of_o happy_a memory_n shall_v be_v observe_v under_o the_o penalty_n therein_o express_v the_o better_a to_o understand_v this_o the_o reader_n must_v know_v that_o about_o the_o year_n 1200_o peter_n lombard_n the_o schoolman_n be_v very_o much_o at_o leisure_n begin_v to_o dispute_v whether_o when_o the_o virgin_n mary_n by_o the_o holy_a ghost_n conceive_v christ_n it_o may_v not_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o she_o herself_o may_v then_o be_v cleanse_v and_o free_v from_o all_o sin_n and_o even_o original_a corruption_n observe_v now_o how_o dangerous_a it_o be_v and_o into_o what_o absurdity_n they_o run_v that_o without_o scripture_n will_v with_o show_v of_o good_a intention_n advance_v their_o own_o conceit_n this_o which_o lombard_n only_o dispute_v some_o of_o his_o successor_n in_o the_o school_n go_v further_o and_o in_o short_a time_n press_v it_o as_o a_o article_n of_o faith_n to_o be_v believe_v of_o all_o christian_n that_o the_o virgin_n mary_n be_v conceive_a without_o sin_n and_o of_o this_o opinion_n the_o franciscan_n be_v stout_a asserter_n which_o be_v so_o far_o countenance_v by_o the_o pope_n that_o by_o a_o bull_n he_o cause_v a_o feast_n to_o be_v celebrate_v in_o honour_n of_o such_o the_o virgin_n conception_n but_o the_o dominican_n no_o less_o vigorous_o oppose_v this_o new_a doctrine_n and_o so_o all_o christendom_n come_v into_o a_o slame_n about_o it_o each_o party_n charge_v the_o other_o with_o heresy_n to_o appease_v which_o not_o dare_v to_o disoblige_v either_o party_n he_o do_v by_o another_o bull_n
