apart_o for_o the_o more_o public_a and_o solemn_a act_n of_o worship_n religion_n be_v his_o chief_a employment_n for_o that_o be_v the_o proper_a work_n of_o the_o day_n to_o worship_n god_n and_o to_o examine_v the_o state_n of_o his_o own_o soul_n to_o learn_v his_o duty_n more_o perfect_o and_o to_o affect_v his_o mind_n with_o such_o a_o powerful_a sense_n of_o god_n and_o another_o world_n as_o may_v arm_v he_o against_o all_o temptation_n when_o he_o return_v to_o this_o world_n again_o this_o be_v to_o improve_v our_o present_a time_n well_o to_o observe_v the_o proper_a time_n and_o season_n of_o action_n and_o to_o do_v what_o be_v fit_a and_o proper_a for_o such_o season_n never_o to_o do_v any_o thing_n which_o be_v evil_a and_o as_o for_o the_o several_a kind_n of_o good_a action_n to_o do_v what_o particular_a time_n and_o season_n require_v thus_o we_o may_v give_v a_o good_a account_n of_o our_o whole_a time_n even_o of_o our_o most_o loose_a and_o vacant_a hour_n which_o it_o become_v we_o to_o do_v though_o we_o be_v certain_a to_o live_v many_o year_n but_o do_v more_o near_o concern_v we_o when_o our_o time_n be_v so_o uncertain_a 4._o since_o our_o life_n be_v so_o very_o uncertain_a this_o aught_o to_o cure_v a_o anxious_a care_n and_o solicitude_n for_o time_n to_o come_v we_o may_v live_v many_o year_n though_o our_o life_n be_v uncertain_a and_o therefore_o a_o provident_a care_n become_v we_o but_o we_o may_v die_v also_o very_o quick_o and_o why_o then_o shall_v we_o disturb_v ourselves_o with_o tomorrow_n care_n much_o less_o with_o some_o remote_a possibility_n have_v thou_o at_o any_o time_n a_o ill_a prospect_n before_o thou_o of_o private_a or_o public_a calamity_n do_v the_o storm_n gather_v be_v the_o cloud_n black_a and_o lower_a have_v come_v they_o be_v very_o safe_a first_o and_o get_v out_o of_o their_o way_n i_o do_v not_o intend_v by_o this_o to_o comfort_v man_n against_o foresee_a evil_n that_o they_o may_v die_v before_o they_o come_v which_o be_v a_o small_a comfort_n to_o most_o man_n when_o it_o may_v be_v death_n be_v the_o most_o formidable_a thing_n in_o the_o evil_n they_o fear_v but_o since_o our_o life_n be_v uncertain_a and_o we_o may_v die_v and_o never_o see_v the_o evil_n we_o fear_v it_o be_v unreasonable_a to_o be_v as_o much_o distract_v with_o they_o as_o if_o they_o be_v present_a and_o certain_a the_o uncertainty_n of_o future_a event_n be_v one_o reason_n why_o we_o ought_v not_o to_o be_v anxious_a and_o solicitous_a about_o they_o and_o the_o uncertainty_n of_o our_o life_n be_v another_o and_o what_o be_v so_o very_o uncertain_a ought_v not_o to_o be_v the_o object_n of_o any_o great_a concern_n or_o passion_n 5._o for_o the_o same_o reason_n we_o ought_v not_o to_o be_v great_o afraid_a of_o man_n nor_o to_o put_v our_o trust_n and_o confidence_n in_o they_o because_o their_o life_n be_v very_o uncertain_a they_o may_v not_o be_v able_a to_o hurt_v we_o when_o we_o be_v most_o apprehensive_a of_o danger_n from_o they_o nor_o to_o help_v we_o when_o we_o need_v they_o most_o this_o be_v the_o psalmist_n argument_n 146_o psal._n 3_o 4._o put_v not_o your_o trust_n in_o prince_n nor_o in_o the_o son_n of_o man_n in_o who_o there_o be_v no_o help_n his_o breath_n go_v forth_o he_o return_v to_o his_o earth_n in_o that_o very_a day_n his_o thought_n the_o example_n of_o esau_n who_o sell_v his_o birthright_n 12_o heb._n 15_o 16_o 17._o v_o look_v diligent_o lest_o any_o man_n fail_v of_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n lest_o any_o root_n of_o by_o it_o it_o prove_v it_o much_o strong_a for_o if_o our_o sentence_n be_v pass_v before_o we_o die_v it_o will_v not_o be_v revoke_v after_o death_n but_o the_o state_v this_o question_n be_v a_o matter_n of_o so_o great_a consequence_n to_o we_o that_o if_o it_o be_v a_o digression_n it_o be_v very_o pardonable_a for_o many_o devout_a mind_n when_o they_o be_v disturb_v and_o cloud_v with_o melancholy_a be_v affly_v with_o such_o thought_n as_o these_o that_o their_o day_n of_o grace_n be_v past_a that_o god_n have_v swear_v in_o his_o wrath_n that_o they_o shall_v not_o enter_v into_o his_o rest_n and_o therefore_o their_o repentance_n and_o tear_n will_v be_v as_o fruitless_a as_o esau_n be_v which_o can_v not_o obtain_v the_o blessing_n now_o for_o the_o resolve_v this_o question_n i_o shall_v say_v these_o three_o thing_n 1._o that_o the_o day_n of_o grace_n according_a to_o the_o term_n of_o the_o gospel_n be_v commensurate_a with_o our_o life_n 2._o that_o notwithstanding_o this_o man_n may_v shorten_v their_o own_o day_n of_o grace_n and_o god_n may_v in_o wrath_n and_o justice_n confirm_v the_o sentence_n 3._o that_o the_o reason_n for_o lengthen_v the_o day_n of_o grace_n together_o with_o our_o life_n do_v not_o extend_v to_o the_o other_o world_n and_o therefore_o death_n must_v put_v a_o final_a period_n to_o it_o 1._o that_o the_o day_n of_o grace_n according_a to_o the_o term_n of_o the_o gospel_n be_v commensurate_a with_o our_o life_n and_o there_o need_v no_o other_o proof_n of_o this_o but_o that_o the_o promise_n of_o pardon_n and_o forgiveness_n be_v make_v to_o all_o true_a penitent_n without_o any_o limitation_n of_o time_n whoever_o believe_v in_o christ_n and_o repent_v of_o his_o sin_n he_o shall_v be_v save_v this_o be_v the_o doctrine_n of_o the_o gospel_n and_o if_o this_o be_v true_a than_o it_o be_v certain_a that_o at_o what_o time_n soever_o a_o sinner_n sincere_o repent_v of_o his_o sin_n he_o shall_v be_v save_v for_o otherwise_o some_o true_a and_o sincere_a penitent_n if_o they_o repent_v too_o late_o after_o the_o day_n of_o grace_n be_v expire_v shall_v be_v damn_v and_o then_o it_o be_v not_o true_a that_o all_o sincere_a penitent_n shall_v be_v save_v i_o know_v but_o one_o objection_n against_o this_o from_o the_o example_n of_o esau_n who_o have_v sell_v his_o birthright_n when_o afterward_o he_o will_v have_v inherit_v the_o blessing_n be_v reject_v for_o he_o find_v no_o place_n for_o repentance_n though_o he_o seek_v it_o careful_o with_o tear_n it_o seem_v then_o that_o esau_n repent_v too_o late_o and_o so_o may_v we_o his_o repentance_n will_v not_o be_v accept_v and_o if_o we_o be_v concern_v in_o this_o example_n as_o the_o apostle_n intimate_v we_o be_v than_o we_o may_v repent_v of_o our_o sin_n when_o it_o be_v too_o late_o and_o lose_v the_o blessing_n as_o esau_n do_v but_o this_o objection_n be_v found_v on_o a_o mistake_n of_o esau_n case_n the_o repentance_n here_o mention_v be_v not_o esau_n repentance_n but_o isaac_n that_o be_v when_o isaac_n have_v bless_v jacob_n esau_n with_o all_o his_o tear_n and_o importunity_n can_v not_o make_v glory_n be_v make_v the_o son_n of_o god_n by_o baptismal_a regeneration_n and_o faith_n in_o christ_n to_o sell_v this_o birthright_n be_v to_o part_v with_o our_o hope_n of_o heaven_n for_o the_o pleasure_n or_o riches_n or_o honour_n of_o this_o world_n as_o esau_n sell_v his_o birthright_n for_o one_o morsel_n of_o meat_n that_o be_v as_o the_o apostle_n speak_v to_o fail_v of_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n either_o through_o unbelief_n which_o he_o call_v the_o root_n of_o bitterness_n a_o renounce_v the_o faith_n of_o christ_n and_o return_v to_o judaism_n or_o pagan_a idolatry_n or_o by_o a_o impure_a and_o wicked_a life_n lest_o there_o be_v any_o fornicater_v or_o profane_a person_n as_o esau_n who_o for_o one_o morsel_n of_o meat_n sell_v his_o birthright_n i._n e._n who_o despise_v the_o hope_n of_o heaven_n for_o the_o sinful_a pleasure_n and_o transient_a enjoyment_n of_o this_o world_n man_n who_o thus_o fail_v of_o the_o grace_n of_o god_n and_o final_o do_v so_o as_o esau_n final_o sell_v his_o birthright_n when_o our_o heavenly_a father_n come_v to_o give_v his_o blessing_n those_o great_a reward_n he_o have_v promise_v in_o his_o gospel_n how_o importunate_a soever_o they_o shall_v then_o be_v for_o a_o blessing_n as_o esau_n be_v who_o seek_v it_o careful_o with_o tear_n they_o shall_v find_v no_o place_n for_o repentance_n god_n will_v
