etc._n etc._n but_o i_o be_o not_o without_o much_o confidence_n that_o they_o be_v never_o oppose_v as_o faith_n and_o the_o work_n of_o the_o law_n be_v as_o if_o a_o man_n that_o have_v no_o love_n may_v be_v justify_v by_o his_o faith_n as_o he_o that_o work_v not_o or_o which_o have_v no_o work_n in_o our_o apostle_n sense_n may_v it_o be_v no_o where_n neither_o in_o word_n nor_o sense_n say_v but_o he_o that_o love_v not_o but_o believe_v on_o he_o that_o justifi_v the_o ungodly_a his_o faith_n be_v count_v to_o he_o for_o righteousness_n but_o the_o contrary_a in_o substance_n be_v flat_o affirm_v by_o the_o apostle_n james_n chap._n 2._o beside_o other_o scripture_n as_o i_o shall_v god_n will_v come_v afterward_o to_o show_v and_o therefore_o i_o do_v think_v that_o our_o protestant_a writer_n have_v give_v too_o much_o advantage_n to_o the_o papist_n whilst_o in_o assert_v justification_n by_o faith_n alone_o without_o any_o work_n at_o all_o they_o have_v in_o the_o mean_a while_n chief_o if_o not_o only_o build_v this_o their_o assertion_n upon_o such_o scripture_n as_o my_o text_n with_o other_o of_o like_a nature_n which_o treat_v not_o of_o all_o work_n in_o general_a but_o of_o such_o as_o do_v belong_v unto_o the_o jew_n in_o special_a and_o therefore_o be_v usual_o call_v the_o work_n of_o the_o law_n or_o the_o deed_n of_o the_o law_n work_v of_o what_o law_n i_o pray_v you_o but_o of_o that_o law_n which_o as_o the_o apostle_n say_v pertain_v to_o the_o israelite_n rom._n 9.4_o and_o which_o as_o the_o same_o apostle_n say_v also_o the_o gentile_n have_v not_o rom._n 2.12.14_o 1_o cor._n 9.21_o objection_n sect._n 2_o but_o when_o the_o apostle_n oppose_v this_o law_n that_o be_v give_v unto_o the_o jew_n unto_o faith_n and_o when_o he_o deny_v justification_n to_o be_v by_o the_o work_n of_o that_o law_n be_v it_o not_o all_o one_o as_o if_o he_o shall_v oppose_v faith_n unto_o work_n command_v in_o the_o gospel_n for_o the_o same_o work_n of_o love_n justice_z and_o mercy_n that_o be_v enjoin_v in_o the_o gospel_n be_v also_o command_v in_o the_o law_n answer_n this_o indeed_o be_v a_o objection_n that_o deserve_v consideration_n but_o for_o answer_v take_v it_o thus_o though_o it_o be_v very_o true_a that_o the_o same_o work_n of_o love_n justice_z and_o mercy_n be_v enjoin_v both_o in_o law_n and_o gospel_n be_v suspend_v not_o upon_o the_o condition_n of_o believe_a but_o of_o do_v but_o the_o man_n that_o do_v they_o shall_v live_v in_o they_o gal._n 3.12_o upon_o which_o account_n and_o in_o respect_n whereof_o the_o work_v even_o of_o love_n justice_z and_o mercy_n as_o enjoin_v under_o that_o covenant_n may_v possible_o be_v oppose_v to_o faith_n whereas_o the_o gospel_n or_o new_a covenant_n the_o word_n reduce_v and_o accommodate_v the_o pure_a gospel_n doctrine_n and_o life_n unto_o a_o near_a compliance_n with_o the_o principle_n of_o worldly_a wisdom_n and_o interest_n than_o will_v consist_v with_o the_o simplicity_n which_o be_v in_o christ_n be_v that_o which_o prove_v the_o bane_n of_o those_o flourish_a church_n which_o be_v plant_v by_o the_o apostle_n and_o at_o this_o day_n be_v the_o great_a enemy_n of_o the_o life_n and_o power_n of_o godliness_n and_o such_o as_o betray_v man_n into_o a_o soul-deceiving_a way_n of_o profess_v the_o gospel_n as_o may_v easy_o be_v show_v may_v i_o now_o stand_v upon_o it_o on_o the_o other_o hand_n whereas_o the_o babe_n and_o suckling_n i_o mean_v person_n who_o by_o reason_n of_o their_o natural_a capacity_n education_n or_o rank_n in_o the_o world_n be_v but_o
of_o weak_a and_o low_a part_n and_o in_o that_o respect_n but_o vessel_n of_o dishonour_n in_o the_o world_n eye_n be_v not_o in_o that_o danger_n to_o be_v court_v by_o the_o world_n nor_o under_o any_o probability_n or_o hope_n of_o obtain_v honour_n from_o the_o world_n though_o they_o shall_v seek_v it_o thence_o it_o come_v to_o pass_v that_o their_o mind_n be_v more_o at_o liberty_n to_o look_v after_o glory_n and_o greatness_n in_o the_o next_o world_n since_o they_o neither_o have_v nor_o be_v like_a to_o have_v any_o in_o this_o and_o so_o to_o fall_v in_o with_o the_o doctrine_n of_o the_o gospel_n which_o both_o offer_n and_o open_v the_o way_n to_o the_o glory_n to_o come_v but_o make_v little_a of_o this_o world_n call_v man_n mind_n off_o it_o and_o teach_v self-denial_n about_o it_o and_o then_o when_o such_o have_v actual_o embrace_v the_o truth_n as_o it_o be_v in_o jesus_n though_o they_o themselves_o be_v but_o poor_a and_o mean_a in_o part_n and_o humane_a ability_n and_o of_o shallow_a capacity_n yet_o the_o spirit_n of_o god_n now_o become_v their_o guide_n and_o he_o take_v of_o the_o thing_n of_o christ_n viz._n his_o doctrine_n contain_v in_o the_o their_o own_o heart_n and_o consequent_o have_v not_o that_o presence_n of_o the_o spirit_n of_o truth_n who_o keep_v at_o a_o distance_n from_o the_o high-minded_a and_o worldly-wise_a they_o must_v needs_o be_v in_o great_a danger_n of_o wrest_v the_o scripture_n as_o unto_o the_o spiritual_a design_n of_o they_o than_o the_o poor_a humble_a and_o meek_a soul_n with_o who_o god_n delight_v to_o dwell_v and_o who_o he_o have_v promise_v to_o guide_v in_o judgement_n and_o teach_v in_o his_o way_n psal_n 25.9_o isai_n 57.15_o though_o very_o far_o inferior_a in_o humane_a accomplishment_n but_o since_o the_o misunderstanding_n of_o the_o scripture_n about_o the_o doctrine_n of_o justification_n by_o faith_n without_o the_o work_n of_o the_o law_n have_v prove_v and_o i_o exceed_o love_n back_o again_o to_o christ_n as_o by_o which_o to_o attain_v the_o high_a pitch_n and_o utmost_a perfection_n of_o christianity_n which_o be_v wrap_v up_o in_o our_o love_n to_o christ_n to_o which_o god_n in_o christ_n design_v to_o elevate_v and_o raise_v the_o christian_n and_o therefore_o when_o we_o love_v one_o another_o as_o the_o lord_n have_v love_v we_o according_a to_o his_o desire_n that_o the_o lord_n jesus_n may_v have_v all_o the_o glory_n of_o your_o confidence_n touch_v the_o merit_n of_o remission_n of_o your_o sin_n and_o that_o your_o confidence_n about_o justification_n have_v nothing_o to_o do_v with_o faith_n but_o as_o that_o thing_n which_o god_n have_v ordain_v to_o entitle_v you_o to_o the_o other_o and_o the_o gracious_a privilege_n annex_v to_o it_o nor_o with_o work_n further_o than_o they_o be_v appoint_v by_o god_n to_o render_v your_o faith_n a_o substantial_a and_o not_o deceitful_a title_n 2._o but_o come_v we_o then_o to_o show_v
